Used to frequent this place when I worked nearby. Used to dine in with all it's condiments available. With Covid, items don't seem to be very flavorful. Ordered four items: chicken chow mein, beef chow fun, fried chicken wings, ans hawaiian bbq combo. None of ths dishes seem to have a flavor, not even some salt. I finally went here to check out the food after all these years. Apparently they changed owners and prices have gone up which is to be expected after the pandemic and rising costs. What brought me in was seeing a picture of their beef chow fun and positive words and big portions given by reviewers. So I walk in to order and wanted to pick a second dish as well. I asked the Asian guy who took our order what he thought of the salt and pepper ribs. He looked confused so I asked again. Same reaction and he asked his fellow Asian lady worker to come over. I ask her the same question and she gave a generic yeah as in everything good response and seemed annoyed. Anyways, I order that plus the beef chow fun. When the food was ready for carry out, I was waved over and she was more pleasant in her goodbye so I let it all slide. So my anticipation was pretty high and finally we'll get to see if any good at home. Portions were regular and not huge in my opinion. Maybe better at the restaurant. I take a bite of the chow fun and was instantly disappointed. Lacking in flavor and mediocre at best. Not enough beef as well. Score C- and never again. Salt pepper spare ribs had ok flavor but was soft. Score B- or so. I really hoped they'd be good, but unfortunately was left wanting much more. There were folks in there dining that were non Asian at the time. Perhaps I picked the wrong dishes, but I will never return. If you're looking for authentic delicious chinese food, I cannot recommend based on what we ordered. Back to Hong Kong Cafe we go! This is my go-to spot for quick and "cheap" chinese food. I'm gonna be honest and say I bumped them up to a 4star from 3 just because of portion sizes. HOWEVER their prices are creeping up there. I don't think I've had anything that I didn't like here... I generally order the hawaiian plate bbq chicken, the chicken wings (gone up in price but they're popular!), or wonton noodle soup. Just ok. Definitely edible and I'm full but the food was just ok. Went to Frannie's for a quick lunch with coworkers. After reading reviews I was apprehensive. But after eating there I have decided I will not be going back. I got an aloha barbecue plate with rice and pasta salad. I inquired to see if several menu items came with the salad as that is one of my favorite parts of Hawaiian barbecue. After ordering I was told it would take 15 to 20 minutes for my food. Even though I had a 30 minute lunch I obliged. After receiving my food the first thing I noticed was my chicken was not as done as I would have liked. Not raw but not thoroughly cooked either. After I received my food I thanked the employee who responded "ehh". I was disappointed with the pasta salad, it had no flavor whatsoever. After going to and leaving 2 different places ( I was with 7 members of my family so it was a chore finding a place we all can agree on ) we decided to eat here. I've been before and my food was very good and this time it was the same. We were greeted and seated immediately, it was not that busy but started to get busier once we sat down. Our waiter was so quick to come and take our orders we had to have her come back a few times like sis, we not ready yet, but it's A+ for being quick and efficient. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combo with fried rice, I was bummed I couldn't do half and half with chow mein, I mean; every Chinese food place lets you do half and half so I was puzzled, I also ordered a side of their fried chicken special which happened to be my favorite part of the meal and a big reason for my rating. For $3.49 you get 8 pieces of the hottest, freshest, most crunchy chicken ever! It was bomb! It came so hot and fresh that I burned my tongue because I was in such a rush to eat it. Oh, and my sweet and sour chicken and rice was good too, didn't disappoint. My family ordered a bunch of stuff, and everyone was very full and pleased with their order, I mean the portions were HUGE, everyone had lots of food to take home. I have bought food here for awhile and quality has hone down while prices go up. Today was the last time. The fried rice I was served was really dark because it had burned. Some of the peas and carrots were black on one side. I called back after ai was already home and the person on the phone said "oh do you want to come get some fresh one? I will tell the cook not to burn the food?" No I do t want to drive all the way back there. WHY DONYOU CARE SO LITTLE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT YOU SERVED BURNT FRIED RICE AND KNEW IT? Also they line the styrofoam plates with foil but it is so they do NOT fill the compartment of the dish fully. Look at the picture. On the left the foil is higher and they put in less food over it. On the right I pushed the foil to the bottom of the compartment and it ripped. They do this on the bigger spot where they put the main dish as well. I had a dinner dish they did this too and I received leas food than the dish looked like. They do not respect their customers but think tricks and bur t food is ok for us. read more

It was my first time coming here. My friend told me to come and to get good quality food. From the first time I stepped into this place the lady at the cashier was extremely rude and unpleasant. It was 40 minutes until closing and she said to hurry and was furious that we showed up. I felt rushed to order and when I finished ordering; with her hand gesture rudely told me to wait outside and to get out. The man who went in after me came out and said to me ..."she's so rude!" Well we can't say that anymore.We just had the worst Chinese food ever.The Lemon chicken was super dry.The Mongolian Beef had barely any beef.It was mostly onions and peppers.Honestly,we had to look for the beef.(Disgusting)We will never go there again.And to top it off,they wouldn't give us any fortune cookies because we got it to go.And we spent $72 for crappy food.We would not recommend eating there. read more

We use to go to Frannie's and haven't been there for awhile, from I remember the food was okay, nothing about it really seemed exceptional. We would order the dinner special and really loved the walnut prawns. With that said, it is concerning to me that any restaurant would have a cat just roaming the diner. The Hawaiian BBQ Plate is a Scoop of White Rice , Macaroni Salad , Steamed Broccoli , Teriyaki Steak , Short Ribs and Teriyaki Chicken . Frannies is a very Popular Place . Its a Hidden Gem in Hayward . A lot of Locals eat there . They are Popular because the use Fresh Ingredient's , Big Portions and Fair Prices . We had our food in 15 minutes . I hadn't eaten all day so I wolfed down my plate lol . Great Flavors . My Uncle usually has the Appetite of a Starving Grizzly Bear could only Wolf down half his plate LOL.
