    6. Chicken Dumpling with Corn (12) / 玉米鸡肉水饺 PAN FRIED
    Serene A.

I had this spot bookmarked for some time now as I've been on a quest to find a dumpling place similar to dumpling house in Davis/Sacramento. These tasted just like the ones I had there! I got the chicken and corn dumplings and asked for them to pan fry them. So so so good! I will be back to try other items but already excited that this is nearby. Take out only.

Restaurant in an abandoned parking lot . There is no indoor seating it is blocked off inside . Pretty messy and stuff everywhere. The lady was really nice and acknowledged us right away. Food was priced average for these days but definitely not worth the price. Food was very disappointing. With dumpling in the name I was expecting more but was very disappointed.

They have 15+ Dumpling options with different ingredients and proteins, you can order them cooked or frozen and make them later, it's the only local place I can think of with this many dumpling options. It's in the same plaza as Harbor Freight and Bamboo Steamer, another dumpling place is not too far from here. XLB: My kids love these and there are too many good options in this area, they won't eat ones that don't taste good and devoured these easily. Pork Dumpling with Corn: Wanted to try something new and these had well marinated meat and lots of corn in it. Best part was dumpling skin was nice and thin. Yeung Chow Fried Rice: I love this fried rice, I don't know why I wait for Chinese or Vietnamese weddings to have it, it was pretty good from Elite Dumpling. Only thing I wish was more shrimp and BBQ pork.

Pork Egg Foo 1. BBQ Pork Egg Fu Young

First the good: friendly staff and super hot food! Now the bad: I ordered Egg Foo Young and I've never seen egg foo young that looked like what I ordered, veggies were full size and it looked more like an egg scramble with no taste. The gravy was so thin it could be passed as soup broth. Probably not going back-$16 thrown out. Sorry, I wanted this place to work for me because it's close to home.

    3. Ma-Po Tofu

We were out and about and hungry. I thought about going to another place when she reminded me that they were closed on Mondays. Bummer. Elite Dumpling has usually been good for us so off we went! Our plan was to order three or four items and then go home to make some rice. So while I was outside walking the dog, she went inside to place our order. We had agreed on: Singapore Rice Noodles - 3 - The sauce wasn't as plentiful and flavorful as the first time we had it. We also felt that it could have used more egg. Ma-Po Tofu - 3 - The score doesn't fully reflect how we felt about this dish. The tofu was nice and soft, but the sauce had the wrong flavor. It was spicy but it was overwhelming flavored with jalapeno peppers. Basil Eggplant with Tofu - 3 - The Basil was obviously in the dish but it didn't seem to add much flavor to the dish. The Eggplant was excellent. The Fried Tofu added texture but I think I may have been happier with a unfried firm tofu. Curry Fish Fillet - 3 - I thought that the flavor was fine. She thought that it needed more curry kick. We both thought that it was dryer than it should have been. We would have liked more curry sauce to soak into our rice. (note: this was not on the menu. Curry Chicken and Fish Fillet are both on the menu, so we simply asked for a substitution.) Tomato Beef - 3 - I starting making this dish at home this summer. The Tomatoes and sauce were sweet without being sugary sweet. Many restaurants make that mistake which renders the entire dish inedible. The Beef was tender. We probably should have asked them to fry a couple of eggs into the dish to round it out. Overall, there wasn't anything that we didn't like. It's just that nothing really stood out this time either. Could have been a different cook or perhaps our taste buds were off tonight. This one experience will not stop us from returning. Service was friendly. We received a 10% discount for paying cash. There isn't much in the way of ambience. I didn't go inside but did notice from outside that there were a couple of people who looked like they were sitting on boxes while eating their food. We've only ever gotten take out here and plan to continue to do so.

    Burnt Chicken chow mien

Got some chicken chow mein and the noodles tasted burnt. I went back and asked them to redo it. They said no they wouldn't because that's the way it is. Would not recommend going here.

To go orders only . Paying cash receive 10% off . Accepts major CC payments . The restaurant isn't much on decorations , the front is used as a storage space lined with boxes. Have quite a selection for frozen dimsum to steam at home . I really like their green beans stir fry and spicy egg plant it's savory and delicious. Not a fan of the fried scallion pancakes, it was fried too hard / crispy for my taste . The rest of the dim sum I ordered were good, Hagao had a chewy bite , Shu mai is smaller then most places I've been to, taste isn't bad .

The staff told her we wouldn't be seated unless our entire party was present. About 4 people were late, but they still seated us. The restaurant kind of felt old and somewhat dirty. But hey, it was my dad's birthday. I wasn't paying for lunch. We occupied three tables and ordered from both the lunch and dim sum menus. I enjoyed dishes like shiu mai, pork buns, walnut shrimp, fried rice, fish, and fried noodles. The sesame balls were tasty, but the service was slow, and I had to follow up on our order. I didn't care for the bun with the hot dog or the other noodle dish. Later that day, my daughter mentioned she had found hair in a pork bun and that her cousin had eaten it. She also said every item he picked up had hair on it, which was disappointing. I didn't confirm this with my cousin, but it would have been helpful to have someone inform the staff. Fortunately, no one at our table found hair in their food, which was a relief. Overall, the food that I ate was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip from San Jose to visit again...unless it's a fambam family treat.

The restaurant is really big and we sat at a table for 14 pretty comfortably. We were also here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full. The service is your typical Chinese restaurant vibe where you leave a little bit emotionally abused after paying for overly priced menu items. We did the à la cart and easily spent up to $1500. Better off with the family plan meal but nothing was of interest to us except one or two dishes. It took forever to come out and I mean FOREVER to a point where we almost cancelled a few dishes and called it a night, but they kept saying it's being made. With as many people and as massive as the restaurant was, and the price tags, I was expecting a more efficient service. A couple of times we saw our dish being brought to the wrong table and the people going "oh we didn't order this." With all of that out of the way, I am giving them an average score of 3 starts because the food did bring them back up. It was actually really good. My favorite of all things we ordered was their sea bass with string beans. The sea bass was fried crispy, garnished salty and still soft inside. It paired really well with the string beans. We ordered a bunch of other things that I couldn't tell you what the name was in English and they were above average taste wise. Their complimentary dessert however, was mass produced and tasted like they added too much water to it. This was the only one I was disappointed in. I still say this place is extremely overpriced but for a family meal experience and if you ever want to impress a date, why not.

FAMILY EVENTS When I…read morego to eat at Chef's Experience China most of the time the occasion is for family gatherings. The year 2024 was the prime example. In February I ate for reception after a family friend's funeral. In June relatives and friends ate here after my nephew's high school graduation. Later that year in September I came here to celebrate my dad's birthday. There's something about this place that attracts family gatherings. Is it the food? The food here tasty and filling. Could it be the ambiance? The Chef's Experience China Bistro is a small restaurant. There are three dining areas. There is one at the side that is used for a banquet, which is the same space that was used for my dad's birthday party. In the middle there is a general dining area. At the back is a small section that could be used for a party - the same area that was used for my nephew's high school graduation celebration. I think what makes this place attractive is the bar when you enter the restaurant. How's the food? I like the stuffed eggplant, which is similar to eggplant parmesan. What I like about the orange chicken is the sauce is served on the side preserving the crispy breading. The sautéed vegetables aren't oily. Even though the menu doesn't seem overwhelming with items there are variety of items served at Chef's Experience China Bistro that you don't see at other Chinese restaurants. Since I mentioned about the bar I've order beverage such as Old Fashioned, Mint Julep, and Shirley Temple. I can't explain it but there is something about the vibe at Chef's Experience China Bistro that makes this restaurant a popular place to celebrate with the family.

He joked a lot and made us feel very welcomed. We haven't been back here in years. From what I remember, it was because the portion sizes didn't match the prices. Things have changed for the better. Our plates were full and everything we ordered came out hot, fresh and delicious. Shrimp and crab fried spring rolls - we were told this was their signature dish and is the most popular. We would order this every time we come back. Seafood fried rice had a good amount of mixed seafood and NO PEAS! Yaaaaay! Lol Sweet and sour chicken - surprisingly, this is the dish that stood out the most. The chicken tasted fresh and was juicy. In a lot of other places the chicken is more solid and dry. Not this dish. This one was very good!

It took a bit of a while to get our order. But we got it eventually. The kawali seemed a bit overcooked. There was pieces of hard/dry lechon. The pinakbet was okay. Their Kare Kare is served unmixed. They top the cooked veggies on top the peanut butter sauced meat. The portion of the dish itself was a bit sparse. The steamed fish was okay as well. We also had ourselves halo halo. Which pretty much was probably the favorite of all we ordered. The karaoke performers made it entertaining during our time there. The dj had breaks in between for dancing on the dance floor space they provide. I'll have to try the place again and maybe later hours.
