This restaurant makes me want to visit France. The duck confit is the best I've had since Bernardin's in North Carolina. The escargot were also prepared to perfection with wine I believe. Not your traditional overpowering butter and garlic. The chicken fingers I ordered for my son were beyond my expectations. They were like little slices of chicken Marsala they may even been cooked with Sherry. They may have been as good as my duck. Look at his expression in that picture. The owner is a very kind gentleman with pretty silver hair. He sat with me and gave me a history lesson on the restaurant and his immigration to the United States. Ask him for his bio that he has so kindly printed. Lots of fun facts about the Costa family and the Vietnamese/French influence reflected in the cuisine. Absolutely delicious! The best escargot ever, clam chowder was outstanding, sea bass was fabulous and Brussel sprouts were the stuff of dreams. This place is awesome, they did expect mask to be worn. They did take temp. The use of mask is very subjective but we go with the flow. My group of ladies has come here for years, frequently, during happy hour. The offering is identical to what they offered two years ago. I'm hoping other things can be added now that were done with C19. Ostensibly, the vaccine is ridding us of the so called pandemic. My entire group of women would love to have more options. We are lucky because they put us into a room away from other diners and we laugh and joke and feel at ease. We've come here in the height of the pandemic and nobody has caught the virus. Happy Hour is quite popular at Frederick's Bistro! 4-8pm, but get there early if you want to find seating. There is seating at the bar and also tables and booths available. We appreciated Paige, our bartender, accommodating us with sugar substitution with our cocktails - both the Lemon Drop Martini and Mojito turned out great! Several delicious options for Happy Hour food items. We enjoyed the smoked salmon plate, fried shrimp and the sun dried tomato cheese pizza (from their wood smoked oven). My husband and I ended our evening there with Frederick's custom desserts: Apple tart with puff pastry and ice cream and the Rum cake. As I am a coffee lover, I might add the coffee was fresh, hot and had a good flavor. So many times you go and have a nice dessert only to have it ruined by sub standard coffee...this was NOT the case at Frederick's. We recently moved to the area and had a late lunch there previously and all was tasty and nicely plated. We will for sure be back again for Happy Hour and also try more of their dinner options on the dining room side of the bistro. Note: There is parking available in front of the restaurant, but if a busy Happy Hour, the parking can really fill up and overflow to outer areas. read more

We were very disappointed in our experience at Fredericks. We waited 25 min before our drink order was taken and it was nearly an hour before we were able to order food. We ordered from the Culinaria menu - Escargot, Brussel Sprouts, Duck, Scallops, Cheesecake, and Creme Brûlée. The apps were okay and barely served warm. The entrees were bland, particularly the sides. Dessert was the high point but only the cheesecake. I've never not finished a creme brûlée but had to push this one away after one bite. read more

What a show...what a show. My husband and I stopped in for a few drinks after dinner with friends just last week. The crowd at the bar was so entertaining and out of this world, I would have thought that I was on candid camera. Including but not limited to Obama lovers and haters, drinkers on the wagon, children, drinkers needing and getting a ride home, agitated doctors and more. Bottom line, a great time in a lovely atmosphere. We experienced on point service at the bar, joked about sports with Frederick himself and peered into the dining room of SA notables that I was a bit too toasty to speak to - lest I appear to be...odd. For the price, Frederick's is not the best "let's just have three more drinks" place - but remember that entertainment and local star gazing is included. My husband and I brought an out-of-town guest here for dinner last night. Once again, everything was amazing and wonderful. We enjoyed great food and even greater service. This was the 2nd or 3rd time we had Paige as our server and she is outstanding!! I will request her for future visits. As for the food, all 3 of us ordered something different and each entree was delicious. We had the branzino, tenderloin and lamb chops. Dessert was the Frederick's Trio and it hit the spot!! Stopped by for a late (1:45pm) lunch. Nice waiter but he was totally unresponsive to our comments about the "heirloom" tomato appetizer. It consisted of grape tomatoes sliced in half with a somewhat plain dressing. Not what we ordered, not what was described on the menu. Unacceptable. His only response was that the preparation had changed but "they" had never changed the menu. Apparently "they" never told the waitstaff to alert those pesky customers who desired heirloom tomatoes as an appetizer either. read more

RUINED VALENTINES DAY FOR MY FAMILY!!!! My family was having a great Valentine's Day and we thought we'd end on a high note at Frederick's Bistro. We couldn't have been more wrong. Would give 0 stars if we could. We walked in at 7:30pm for our reservation, there were 4 couples in front of us just standing there. No staff even acknowledged them, no one asked them to check in, and no staff even talked to us. Since my family was behind the 4 couples we patiently waited. While we waited one couple was seated, then a party of 5 walked in after us and was seated right away for some reason ahead of us and the remaining 3 couples. Then 2 of the couples were seated. Another couple walked in and was seated ahead of the couple who was waiting in front of us. It was a disaster and by now we've been standing there for 30 minutes. My kids wanted me to take them home a this point, so I left with the kids and my wife stayed behind to change the reservation to 2 while I took the kids home (I live close by). The man seating everyone was rude to my wife when she asked to change to 2, and even right after she changed the reservation to 2 he immediately sat a party of 2 who came in over 30 minutes after us first. Needless to say, this is not a place we wanted to give our money to so my wife called me to ask me to pick her up. What a waste of 45 minutes and what a horrible way to end a Valentine's Day that was great up until walking into this establishment. I can't tell you if there food was good, because we never got that far. But after nearly 45 minutes of being ignored you can imagine why we are upset. One other thing was the couple that was there before us who was seated before up ultimately got up and left after they were seated. I guess things didn't get better for them either after they were sat after waiting 30 minutes past there reservation time. Anyways, never again. Thanks for ruining our day. read more

Our pick for a premium table cloth meal for an occasion. Five of us were there 2 weeks ago to celebrate an 80th birthday, each ordering a separate entree and various side dishes/appetizers/deserts. Remarkably, every one was top-drawer without a single miss and our server was sterling as well. Was delicious. Flash fried Brussel sprouts were delicious. Salad was delicious. Rolls were delicious. Filet and shrimp were delicious. Chocolate cake was pretty good. The decor was well done - very elegant, yet not stuffy or ostentatious. The crowd started filling the open seating at around 7pm. I would highly recommend placing reservations as it appears to be very well supported by the neighboring communities. The cocktails were quick and tasty. The appetizers were delicious - especially the crab cake! Yum. Fresh and tasty wedge salad - good balance of toopings. The Osso Bucco was deliciously tender! Food is very good. Difficult to get waited on at the bar. There is one person that works there that is not pleasant, caters to people that are regulars before you even if you came in first, never smiles and is always stressed out. She acts like I am bothering her to wait on me. She is nasty. I decided to find another place to go. The owner actually moved me from where I was sitting at the bar once to seat some friends of his that came in. They just relocated me to the end of the bar. It was extremely rude. Didn't even ask me. We were greeted for dinner at the door by the owner with a New Year's kiss on the cheek French style. We were there with friends who are regulars, and you could tell that the lovely people at Frederick's cherish their locals. We started with Caravan Cabernet chosen by the Mr. of our couple friends. They put it in this decanter to air it out then back to the bottle. I love Cabernet so I thought it was absolutely perfect. For the appetizer, the table chose the Calamari. I'm not a fan of calamari so I did not partake, but we got two orders and they were gone almost immediately. My fiancé' and I split the lobster & crab salad. It was delicious. This was no lettuce salad. It was more of a chunk salad with a light coating of lemon. There was a very tasty vinaigrette over some carrots, mushrooms, and greens on the side. It was delicious! And the kitchen graciously split the salad for us so we each had our own charming plate. Next, I had the Parmesan crusted halibut. It was served with asparagus spears. It was absolutely perfect. Flaky and light but filling and tasty. My favorite part of the whole meal was the dessert. They offer a little dish of desserts I have pictured that was just perfect. I don't like big desserts, but I would like something sweet at the end of the meal. Frederick's trio was fabulous! It was a mango creme brûlée, (rum euphoria) a pecan & chocolate covered ball with some kind of ganache, and a little cheesecake ball. All I know is I wish every restaurant offered what I would call, "dessert bites." It was the perfect end to a lovely meal. The service was impeccable. I even grabbed a little night cap at the bar, and the server was friendly, fast, and made a great cocktail. Very good experience at Frederick's Bistro. Would highly recommend. read more

I have lived in this neighborhood for 8 years and never had I heard of this place. It was mainly for this reason that I chose it for my Christmas meal. The first thing I noted was that ee weren't given menus or a drink menu when we were seated. We were asked what we wanted to drink and actually had to ask for a menu to know what to do. Once we had the drink menu, we saw $90 and up bottle choices and nothing else. This was steep. Even Chart House at Tower of the Americas has more options. The second thing we noticed was NO KIDS MENU ON CHRISTMAS MENU. This was the most surprising and disappointing as far as we were concerned. No kids menu at all!? Are you kidding??? The lamp chops were very good. The salmon was well prepared, and the bread was slightly hard. Overall, I would have enjoyed the experience with a kids menu, drink options, and a server who did not act like he was doing US a favor by letting us in. read more
