We have highs and lows for this visit. Mind you, we wanted to test drive 5 cars in total, across 4 brands ranging from Lexus to Kia and everything between, and we hit 5 dealerships in one day to do it. There is a lot to compare between things, and what better way to do it than have recent relevant experiences? Freddy Kia was the most rundown looking of the dealership we visited. Yes it's an optics criticism, but it matters when you just visited Lexus, Toyota, and Mazda before it. Experience is a valid factor in a large purchase, such as a car. The one item we wished to see was listed as a quantity of 1one in stock. BUT it was fresh off the truck. Unfortunately it was not road ready, as they have a process to clear them to drive after they arrive on the lot. So we didn't get to drive it. Luckily they had an alternative models with the same engine and suspension that at least allowed us a comparable driving experience. We came to compare, not to buy. If we can't drive it, it leaves our list. Kia is still on our list. Also as a note, the interior of the building was very cramped, and also just not comfortable. It reminded me of every care dealership I went to in college. Not much has changed, and it should. There are far better layouts and business models that work. And it is still impacting the buyer during her deliberation. Our salesperson was very knowledgeable about the car, and he was pretty quick to check the inventory and find some alternative models that would allow us the experience we needed to achieve our goal of the day: test drive to get a feel. He knew the mission. The area around the dealership also has terrible roads (not their fault), but it actually made the test drive more interesting as the gal was then forced to get a far better feel avoiding potholes, narrow roads, speed bumps etc. It was probably the most advantageous test drive she could have to get a feel for normal commute through the H. Our salesperson was very knowledgeable about the car, was able to answer all the questions, and took his time orienting her to the layout of the interface. Her last. Car was a 2017, things have changed. He also knew what our plan was, driving versus buying. And he wasn't pushy at all, which made it a much more comfortable experience. Overall, the facility needs work. It doesn't necessarily represent the brand well, and comfort matters when people are stressing about such a large purchase. It did look like half the lot was fresh off the truck, as they were all still wrapped. On a Saturday morning, that shouldn't be an issue. We want to see, we want to drive, and that's prime time. I was scheduled for a recall appointment and was informed that recall would be completed within the same day if I arrived prior to 7:30 AM. When I arrived, I was informed that the service department had fired they service department contact and I would more than likely not receive my car back by the end of the day. The service department gentleman was not concerned with previous commitment. She told me they didn't have any appointments available until next month, but on the website you could book the next day for basic service. I cannot express enough how terrible my experience was at Freddy Kia Gulf Freeway, all thanks to Mr. Ramtin Hekmatara. I arrived at 1 PM, and from the very beginning, he was dismissive and unprofessional. He demanded my phone to fill out a credit application, as if I had no other choice if I wanted any help. He also had the audacity to ask me to put his name on the application. For the next 45 minutes, Mr. Hekmatara and the trainee he was supposedly supervising walked around the dealership without so much as a glance in my direction. On a whim, we decided to stop by Fredy Kia this morning after picking up her Mercedes from a service appointment at a nearby Mercedes dealership. We were immediately treated by Randy Jackson as we exited our vehicles. Randy obliged our interest and immediately provided a brief introduction to each model they had on the lot. Skipping ahead, we decided to see what kind of deal they could offer. An offer was presented, I immediately cross checked against other dealerships, stepped away to better my deal with a competitor. Randy was left with my wife to make small talk. Randy maintained a patient and helpful composure. In the end, we left with a 2024 Kia Telluride. We had no intent to buy a car today. Randy kept us informed throughout the process. He didn't play games with us. After buying many, many cars and trucks, this was one of the most straightforward and honest sales transactions I've had the pleasure to complete. When we arrived, they started delaying us. They said that the vehicle was located 2 minutes away. We waited. Then, they said that they just got the vehicle and it needed to be serviced (Car Guru said, if accurate, that they had it for sale for many days). We offered to return later. We let him know that we were in fact just browsing and he continued to hovered and followed us across the parking lot. Brought my Telluride in with the DEFECTIVE trim into GAY KIA. Gay KIA without any questions asked, not accusing me of damaging my BRAND-NEW car said it was ABSOLUTLEY covered under warranty. GAY KIA covered this under warranty and I was told by multiple technicians that they have seen this problem very frequently with newer Tellurides. Not ONLY that but the trim on the passenger side door was now coming off and GUESS WHAT.. they replaced and fixed that as well - no problem. Compared to Fredy KIA, who accused me of damaging my own new car and said it would be OVER $500 to fix. I don't appreciate being called a liar by the dealership I just spent $55k+ with.. Also worth noting, GAY Kia had to order the trim piece because their extra was already taken (again, they've had to fix this a lot) ...so they helped by removing the piece that was taped on the car so they could wash it and we wouldn't have to worry about it damaging something else or being flung onto the road until the new trim arrived. When we brought it to Fredy Kia previously, they didn't even bother to remove the tape or replace the tape to help us in the meantime until we could get this problem fixed. Also, forget about asking for a wash from Fredy... unless you want to wait another hour or so.. I get "free" oil changes from Fredy since I unfortunately bought this car from Fredy KIA and not Gay KIA, but because Fredy KIA customer service is so horrible I will gladly go to GAY KIA for all of my oil changes moving forward and anything else that may arise even though I have to pay for the routine maintenance out of pocket. It's just not worth it to deal with the horrible customer service at Fredy. Moral of this review is to NEVER buy your new or used KIA from Fredy KIA if you want to take advantage of their service department - go to GAY KIA. When I purchased my car from Fredy Kia, I was happy with the experience. I have a 2016 Kia Sportage that I purchased in 2019. In May 2023, basically, my engine died. I had it towed to the dealership and after several weeks and a couple different service reps, I was told the engine would need to be replaced, but that it was covered under a "warranty" that I later found out was due to a class action law suit on these particular engines. Great news that I wouldn't have to pay, bad news is that it would take time to get done. So after a few MONTHS and another service rep change, I finally got my car back. During this 4 month period I had to pay for a rental car out of my own pocket. Service manager said I would be reimbursed after I submitted my claim, which I would have to wait to do when I received my car and all the final paperwork. I go to pick up my car and the a/c is not working. They claim the compressor is bad and that they filled it with freon, but it would cost just under $2k to fix it. I wake up the next morning and the car won't start. Kia mechanic comes out and says its because the incorrect battery is installed, but I never installed a battery on that car. As far as I knew, that was the battery on the vehicle when they sold the car to me used in 2019. It was a 2018 battery.... Service rep AND manager also stated that I REALLY needed to get my catalytic convertor replaced because they were really bad and they could do it for just under $5k. So I took my car to an outside mechanic and the a/c was fixed for $50 because all it was was a connection that was not connected properly and he also said that my catalytic convertor was just fine. Other little things have also gone wrong or missing. Like my windshield wiper blades were all of a sudden bad. My two front speakers are now blown but worked fine before. Even a magnet off the back of my car is missing.... Top to bottom, start to finish, just poor service. Too bad there is not a negative star rating because I would give a -10. They sold my son a 2019 Kia Sol that is now in the Tomball police's impound yard as the car was reported stolen. He purchased the car 90 days ago and we still do not have the license plates or a temp plate that is current. We have been promised numerus times over the last 2 weeks that a new temp plate would be emailed so we could print it off and go. All of this mess has led us to purchase a Carfax report to see if a new owner has been reported, which it hasn't but low and behold 6 months ago the car was reported stolen which had us calling the police to figure this out. If you look at the reviews on Fredy Kia website there is not one since 12/2020, and all of those are perfect which everyone knows is not true. Go check the BBB there ratings there are ALL 1 horrible. What they have in stock online is not actually in stock at the dealership, their "dealer discounts" are basically re-added back in with all of their "mandatory" fees. We called and text four separate times because we do not live close and don't want to make a needless trip, we got the runaround multiple times and when asking for a buyers order for our bank with the specific vehicle we want, they still sent buyers orders for different vehicles because they are "better". I'm going to update a review I originally left on July 30th- downgrading from two stars to one. So... after holding my car hostage for several days without working on it I called on Friday August 2nd (still no sign of the ordered part) and insisted that the car was mine and Fredy KIA had no right to hold it. A different service person agreed. I came and picked up the car. Then the front tire (which was actually quite new) shredded on the way home and severed the front brake line. Dangerous. Luckily I got the car home intact (where the tire proceeded to pop loudly). All I will say is that these problems did not exist before bringing the car here and then they existed when I picked it up from Fredy KIA. A Fredy KIA rep responded to my previous post, pre picking up the car, complaining about the service here. If that response is sincere (I doubt it given the extreme volume of one and two star posts here- that doesn't happen without a toxic service culture and no inclination to fix it) then I invite Fredy KIA to pay for the repairs to my car- repairs for damage that originated from its unfortunate stay with them. I will be happy to send along the bill for the repairs and I accept many forms of payment. Meanwhile to all those thinking of coming here- JUST DON'T.
