The staff at Freed's Bakery on Eastern, treat their customers like family! I live in CA, but have a 92 year old uncle in Vegas. He used to stop at Freed's when he was working heard ago, and "buy the broken cookies and eat them for breakfast. " So, when I send him cupcakes and cookies and pastries from Freed's it keeps him going!!! The delivery people are so nice and helpful getting his delivery to him. The staff at the bakery are always so nice and helpful on the phone when I call in with a question. They go over and beyond. I haven't even mentioned how delicious their pastries and brownies are. We always buy boxes of cookies when we are in Vegas and bring them home for us and for family and friends! It's so much fun choosing the bite sized cookies and filling your box! It's better than See's candy! They also make the. Beat ginger bread houses at Christmas time. I bought one last year and I just purchased 2 that I am picking up next week for myself. Over the years, I have spent a lot of money at this business...but it seems after opening back up after shutdown, many businesses, including this one just have not been the same. I have overlooked a wrong order before, cookies that just were not good, and a late delivery. But this...no. I have to say something now. I received my cake, uncovered, although every purchase up to this point has ALWAYS come with a cover/canopy regardless of size. So I expressed my concern to the delivery guy, which it's not his fault of course. And it's a slight wind today....so you already know.... I did call in, and was told to send in a photo, and it will be "reviewed" by somebody. That's great, but that doesn't change that today the cake was needed for a once in a lifetime occasion. And we already know how those "reviews" go. This isn't a money thing....I am disappointed that service has been showing a gradual decline. And yep...upon full inspection....of course some little specks of debris, and a HAIR!!!!! C'mon, as much as this cake/delivery costs, a person can't get a canopy? And if it is a concern about the design, that should clearly be conveyed to the buyer, so that they can decide to STILL have a canopy regardless. So being near the Henderson Area often, I always find myself having the occasion where I need to buy a cake or some dessert for a dinner party. There are a lot of different places to try but I always seem to find myself at Freeds. This place is definitely a great low key spot to buy a bunch of items. It is located in the plaza near Target and Krispy Kreme and every time I have been here, there are constantly lines. The service is fast and friendly so don't be concerned about how long you will wait. This place has an assortment of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and the list goes on. I have been here a myriad of times now and have had the opportunity to try multiple things. I have had their cakes, their cupcakes, their cookies, etc. All of the items are always moist, buttery, and delicious. I have had no complaints so far from all of my impromptu visits to pick items up. It looks like they have the option to pre-order cakes so perhaps something I may do if I ever have a planned event but I am glad that this place is near this area as it makes it a convenient stop to pick up items whenever I am in the need. read more

Every time Mardi Gras rolls around, I know it's when I need to order a King Cake from Freed's. You can get one with or without the plastic baby inside the cake: baby on the side available! I wanted so much not to write this review, but after 3 failed attempts of trying to get service after I walk in I think I am done as a in person customer. I love their rainbow cookie cakes, I've walked in at various times though out the months and they are always sold out. Today, for my birthday, I thought I'd get there early enough ( within 2 hours of opening) and saw none. Stood around for a little bit waiting to ask if they had any. There was no greeting, no acknowledgement what so ever from any of the cashiers. Made eye contact with the lady who is the most unfriendly person that I always seem to get when I go in. I see her finishing up her sale and she just stood in the corner and did nothing. No greeting, no " we will be right with you" just looked at me like I was just a bothersome being in the bakery so i left. As soon as I entered the doors of Freed's Bakery, a staff member warmly greeted my mom and I. Within seconds, my eyes landed on an assortment of colorful goodies. While Mom picked up a custom carrot cake for our grandmother, I gazed at all of the delicious sweets, delectable cupcakes, tiny cookies, and magnificent macaroons. I ordered two Crystal Butter cookies with sprinkles, two Nonpareil Butter cookies, a few Mini Linzer tarts for a buddy, and immediately proceeded to rip into them after sitting down in the car. The only unfortunate part of this review is that the entire cookie experience is over before we left the parking lot, and I didn't ask our cousin to turn the car around to let me go get more cookies. Thankfully, there was no "post-sugar" overstimulation of the taste buds, and the cookies weren't densely packed with floury gunk. So when you see the "Voted best bakery for 30 years" sign on the north side of the building, believe them. You will not be disappointed! My daughter came across this bakery on the tikety tokkety so we came to check it out. Slices of various cake are all in the $6-7 range and are definitely a portion that 2-3 people can share a slice. There are so many good cake options it was almost overwhelming. We each picked a slice and we sampled. We tried the tiramisu, strawberry shortcake, napoleon, carrot cake, chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, creme puff and wedding cake which looked pretty identical to the strawberry shortcake. You order at the counter and we went mid afternoon so there was no line. Service was quick and the young lady was very friendly. After sampling all the slices we got they were all delicious and depending on what your cravings are you can't go wrong, but my favorite of the bunch was the strawberry shortcake. It was light and airy, whipped cream instead of frosting, not too sweet and just the right amount of strawberry to cake ratio. I would definitely come back to grab a slice of cake anytime. The only thing Freed's does not have is any seating to sit and enjoy the slice of cake there which was a bummer. I think they are set up more for people ordering whole cakes for special occassions though, rather than the walk in slice business so I get it. read more

An order was placed in advance for a pumpkin pie with a side of homemade whipped cream. The ordering process was simple and straightforward. Pickup was scheduled for a time that was less busy than usual. I was greeted by an associate who helped with our order. The order was correct, however the quality control of the pie was lacking. I was given a pie that was cracked within the pumpkin filling and the crust. Why place an order ahead when you can just walk in and pickup a pie of your choosing from the many on the tables for sale and guarantee that you yourself will pick a pie that is perfect. The associate saw the look of displeasure in my face and continued to finalize the pickup. The pie was tasty and I would visit again, but quality control measures need to be implemented. April 2025 ordered the Buttercream Bloom vanilla wedding cake with the Bavarian Cream and we added fresh strawberries. Everyone loved it. BEST BAKERY EVER!!! I needed a cake for my grandma's 100th birthday, which we were celebrating in Las Vegas. I found Fred's online and they had really great reviews, so I called to place the order. The lady taking my order was super nice, and very helpful. I ordered the Plum Petals cake, since my grandma's birthday is in February (Amythest birth stone) and she loves purple. The cake came out AMAZING!!! It was beautiful. Then we ate it... Oh. My. Gosh!!! THE BEST CAKE I'VE EVER EATEN!!! It was delicious. Everyone loved it, especially grandma, and she was glowing the whole night. It was so good we went back on our way out of town and bought macaroons, almond cookies and tiramisu. It was all amazing. My girlfriend really wanted some dessert for breakfast so we ended up at this bakery. The staff are very nice and gave us some free cookies to try since it was our first time! I tried (I believe) their lemon chocolate cookie which was soft and had that nice hint of lemon that gave it more depth than some chocolate cookie. I also ordered their cream puff, which was delicious! The cream has got some light thickness to it and tastes like sweet vanilla. The pastry portion is airy like you'd expect a puff pastry to be! Always a pleasure doing business with Freeds. As a So-Cal resident, I find myself traveling to Las Vegas several times a year. My husband found this place several years ago, to say the least, we never miss a stop when we are in town. We usually take about 6-8 to share with my in laws and to have for several days since they keep well as long as refrigerated. To our surprise. As of August 2021 they no longer have them on their regular menu. Thankfully we were told they can still make them as long as we order in advance! Best believe I did just that! I called a week before my trip into town and ordered a DOZEN!! yes a dozen! Merry Christmas, we all get a Parisian brownie! I called in the order and it was so simple and straightforward. It's not like it was a complicated order but it was nice to not have any issues. I just picked up the goods and we are in the middle of the desert as I am writing this review. Historically when I lived in Vegas I was a huge Freed's fan as one of my favorite things to do on the weekend was stop by for a treat and I have ordered many many cakes through the years. In town for visit and decided to take my 11-year old son for treats while we are here for the week. So we got an assortment of items. Here is our honest review: Cannoli was absolutely delicious, really enjoyed it as it continues to be amazing with the right mix of flavor and sweetness. The slice of wedding cake was mixed, the cake was moist and the filling of Bavarian cream and strawberries was delicious. However the frosting wasn't good at all as it was hard and tasteless it really tasted like straight unflavored butter. So we ate the cake and skipped the frosting. My son got 2 cupcakes, a chocolate and vanilla both of which he did not care for nor finish. He said the frosting tasted weird and when I tasted I agree it again was like straight unflavored butter. The white cake was dry and just basic not really tasty at all. The chocolate was really really dry as well and has a strange aftertaste. Neither were great and ended not being eating. Yes a child that typically devours cupcakes, throw them away without finishing. We got a mixture of cookies as well. They were so so, nothing outstanding nor something we would go back for. So next time we are in town we will be back for a cannoli, but skip the cupcakes and slice of cakes. read more

My wife wanted to come here after seeing it on one of those "food shows." And, it didn't disappoint! They had cakes and cookies of all kinds and all flavors there; we picked slices of various cakes and I picked a full carrot cake for my birthday, they even put the "Happy Birthday, Chris" on it! I ordered the cake and they delivered it to a local restaurant as a surprise for my spouses birthday. They made ordering very easy, the process was very clear and the cake...Heaven. I ordered a cake to feed 20-25, and it truly did, it was huge. 3 deep layers of red velvet and frosting. I'm not a fondant fan, with the exception of Freed's, it was delicious.
