Went to get an estimate on replacing my butterfly handlebars for cruiser style bars to allow me to bike in a more vertical position because of neck and back problems. James was very patient and thorough on his evaluation. He made some great recommendations. He also informed me a little about the model bike I had because I purchased it used on Craigslist. I purchased 4 different styles of handlebars on Amazon, determined the best one for my needs and returned the other 3. James installed the handlebars which required longer brake and gear cables. He used premium parts and everything works flawlessly. When I picked it up, he also adjusted the handbrakes to better accomodate my short fingers. I took my son's bike in for a simple tire replacement--nothing fancy, nobody was signing a treaty. We agreed I'd pick it up on Nov 18th. But, at no point did anyone say, "This date is carved in stone by the ancient bike gods," or that I'd be slapped with late-pickup fees for daring to miss the deadline by a day. On the 19th, I get a call from one of the staff--curt, like I'd personally offended his ancestors. He says, "You were supposed to pick it up yesterday. If you don't pick it up today, we'll start charging late fees." Late fees? For a bike tire? In California. Without ever mentioning this policy beforehand. I'm no lawyer, but even I know that's... questionable. I politely told him this wasn't the way to talk to customers --especially since it's, you know, its a weekday, people are at work and not everyone can teleport to a bike shop that closes at 5pm. A little empathy could've gone a long way--maybe even earned them a repeat customer. Wild concept, I know. When I finally showed up, I was ready to pay and leave in peace. But nope--he reopens the entire conversation like it's a season finale cliffhanger. Still no apology, still no acknowledgment, just... attitude. At that point I simply asked him to please take the payment so we can both move on with our lives. Good news for me: there are plenty of other bike shops within a two-mile radius. I had a very good experience with this store in the past so I came to it again even I moved to the south bay. Overall: 5 stars. During the pandemic time, I have brought 3 bikes to this store for repairs since there were not too many choices for buying a new one. The repair quality is good. They are very busy so you may not get your work done right away. But with about an hour or two hours, I got my two bikes repaired today. Given the good reviews from other people on Yelp, I will definitely come here again for future repair needs. Update on Dec. 24: lower the rating to 3. Reason: when I was in the store for bike repair, I pointed out that one of the bike had issue on its pedal. The owner checked it and said that the pedal had no problem and just need to tighten. He said he will tight it for me when he repaired other problem for that bike. But obviously he forgot to do so. Today the pedal is totally off when I was biking in the county park. I bought a single speed beach cruiser online from Schwinn and decided it was safer to have it professionally assembled. I found this place while looking for local/small business bike shops on Yelp. James took the time to explain his high-level assembly process, timing, and pricing. The pricing is extremely reasonable and fair. I asked for quotes from a few other bike shops and this place was by far the best. Another bike shop quoted me more than 2x the price when given the same bike details and specs. He helped me get the finished bike into my sedan, answered questions I had, shared care/maintenance tips, and even gave me a hex key to reattach the handlebars at home (had to be removed so it would fit in my car). So far the bike is riding very smoothly and I have zero complaints. James is very professional and I wish more business owners were like him - straightforward, knowledgeable and kind. Since I've been sheltering in place & not exercising it seemed that this would be a perfect time to start doing something I enjoy, while also being outside. Since I haven't owned a bike since I was maybe thirteen (I'm 28 now) I wasn't sure what size bike I needed. So, after talking to my sister I decided that I needed to see a bike in person. My sister suggested Fremont Schwinn Cyclery (she's bought many bikes here over the years). There weren't many bikes available, but I found one! PRICE: I bought a Trek mountain bike. It's a little bigger than my previous youth bike, but it's just what I needed. It's pretty light. Maybe about 15 lbs? It was used but in greaaaat condition. I bought the bike for $250 and a lock for $34.9 plus tax. My total was $311.31. It was a really nice bike & I am very happy with my purcha PROS: James was very kind, helpful, and didn't make me feel pushed into buying anything. His overall positive attitude made me want to spend my money here. James knows his products and shares his knowledge about his products with honesty. CONS: I suppose the only con is that this store doesn't have a huge selection of bikes at the moment, but that didn't stop me from finding exactly what I needed. Went in to have $75 bike tune up and $50 brake bleed(I decided to have them do the brake bleed to avoid buying more tools). My dad picked the bike up after 4 days and he was told that somethings wrong with my rear calipers internally and would need replacement or we'll have to pump the rear brakes for it to work. I went and bought a brake bleed kit and done it myself without a problem and made the brakes work(too much air bubbles came out the caliper(sign it wasnt bled properly)). Please do yourself a favor and find an actual bike shop that knows what they do. They should've not taken my bike if they knew they cant fix it. 1 star goes to my bike that came back clean after a $125 bike wash(because thats the only thing that was done right) read more

When we came in, we spoke to James and he left all his work giving so much wonderful information, making sure we know what to look for in a new bike. He answered our questions in great detail. James took on the challenge & found me a workaround bolt for a hard-to-find size & thread pitch, rustled up an alternate cable hanger for a 3-speed shifter, & found me a step-down brake cable/lever connector. Super knowledgeable. Super helpful. More than reasonable prices. I'll be working with him in the not-to-distant future to redo a Schwinn S-5 wheel build. I had bought a bike from here about 3 years ago and had no qualms . .Mr Ha has always been more than fair . Awhile back my bike was stolen and the rear wheel was torn up near the axle because the cable lock wrapped in the spokes. Well I took it to Mr Ha's bike mechanic and he said he only had a used rear wheel so I agreed to take that . . I asked him if he could just make it rideable I'd be happy . When he gave it back to me I rolled it out and put it on my rack . When I got home to check the ride the wheel was wobbling at the axle and rubbing hard on the brake making it unrideable . So the mechanic pretty much just slapped the bad wheel on, didn't even check it or care that it was even a satisfactory job. $50 dollars for getting my bike back in pretty much the same condition.
