This review is specifically for the owner Fred. Being a customer of here for almost 10 years I want to say that this review is not based on a one-time experience. My brother and dad stopped coming to this bike shop many years ago when they both felt that they were being judged when they were looking at the bikes in the store. They insisted that the Asian guy with the ponytail never greeted them when they entered the store and he would just stare at them. I always try to look for the good in people so I brushed it off and proceeded to buy not one, not two, but three bikes from this store over the years. Here is the thing about Fred. He treats you with some sort of decency when he knows you're interested in buying something from his store. However, when there is no money going into his pockets that is when you will see his true colors. To put it plainly, he is condescending when he talks to you because he probably believes he knows more about bikes than 99% of the people that walk into the store. You can also tell that it has been a long time since he has been put in check by the way he talks down on his customers. I bought a Tarmac in 2023 from the website SPECIALIZED.COM because Fred did not have that model in stock. When I asked one of his workers if they could order it, he said they could not because it was not available. The website however did have it in stock. One of their options is to have it delivered to one of the local bike shops that carries Specialized bikes. What Fred does not want people to know is that as a bike shop that sells Specialized bikes, he is obligated to build any bike that is bought from the website and delivered to his store. I also bought carbon rims from the website since they offer 15% off for first time customers. When I came to pick up the bike and the rims, he literally yelled "I am not making any money!" That is when I knew what he was all about. For me, that was the last straw. I will never spend another dollar here. To be honest, this store would be much better if Fred never spoke to the customers directly. For the most part, Tina the manager, the sales staff and the mechanics all do a good job. Even the previous staff with Camacho and the manager Scott knew how to treat the customers. Fred may know more about bikes than his staff but he does not know how to talk to customers. I also heard that the previous staff pre-pandemic were all let go due to missing inventory. I am not saying that stealing is right. However, if you treat customers and your staff poorly, then it will come back to bite you. Karma is real. One last word of advice is to ALWAYS get a second opinion from another bike shop when Fred tells you what your bike needs. I found out what he suggested with my brake lines was not altogether necessary and would have cost me more than double had I followed through with his advice. read more

Today I bought a turbo levo and they did multiple things wrong. When I got home to turn the bike on, I realized that they forgot to disable the dealer lock and since this place is very far from me, I had to go somewhere else to do it and they charged me $40 for something bicycle garage should have done during their final check. Then after I rode it, I went to put it on the charger and they gave me the wrong one! This is terrible and I do not understand how this happened. read more

I was in there at 6:30 pm yesterday, 8/7/26 (30 minutes from closing). Their bikes so crowded the passageway to the repair section that it was dangerous. Also, I was standing at the counter for minutes, the two clerks ignored me, I think one was being trained but they didn't even momentarily acknowledge me. When finally being helped by someone who popped up from the back, I was told it would cost 28 dollars for a flat tire and that I would need to come back the next day. I walked out feeling I was in a dangerous, racist, rude, overpriced and inconvenient situation. read more

I have AIMA branded bike and this place was on the dealer/service list on their website, unfortunately I chose them to fix my bike. late march i droped bike off to replace the wrong type of back brake lever and faulty torque sensor plus get a rear fender. they claimed to get the parts and i returned with the bike to them, it took 2 weeks for them and message after message to be told that the new torque sensor did not work properly so it added another 2 weeks mind you. at the same time the did not get the lever fixed and charged 90 for something nothing about the lever, the job was easy go to aima and ask for the brake set, not done in end of april. in may two weeks after the second torque sensor replacement, they still did not get the back fender. i asked to get accesories too and waited for them to say they got the basket, brake set, fender, tires. i asked for a tune up to and dropped off the bike. 3 weeks after, end of may, after multiple 'itll be ready tomorrow' they gave me it will be ready in couple of hourse, wich was before closing. i came to pick up the bike and guess what, they installed the front fender to the back, and tied it with ZIP TIES... ,again front fender at the back with zip ties. they forgot to instal derailer guard once, and put zip tie at the motor power cable twice. at the end of it, i still had the bike with maintenace check light on after supposed tune up for 200, parts that were not complete, in 3 month of hell they only installed a basket with one bolt missing, tires, and changed torque sensor and couple of spokes. a month after this, a week ago i got a motor failure with hall sensor error and desided to finally write this, save your nerves, time and money by going somwhere else. read more

I've been here years ago and I was disappointed. Centripetal closed sadly and i had no choice but to go to bicycle garage. My bike was there for service and asked for gear adjustment and I received it worse. If the owner has any decency he would contact me and correct it. When I picked up the bike the owner wasn't there and the staff which is made up of 16 year olds were having a pizza party at the cash register. 6 teenagers were laughing, I don't know if they were employees but they all were gathered around the cash register. Andrew was unprofessional with a pizza slice in his hand went to get my bike and I grabbed it before he did because I didn't want grease on my handlebars. I gave bicycle garage a chance and never again, disappointed a second time. Fremont needs a better bike shop. Owner if you care contact me and fix, adjust my gears properly because I paid for it. read more

If I could give ten stars, I would! I was looking for my first e-bike. I don't ride much and am a fifty something. I went on a Tuesday when the store was super busy. Tina still gave me her inputs and encouraged me to try many bikes and make multiple visits to decide. I went back 3 more times to ride as there are so many brands and modes in each. She was always polite, knowledgeable and treated me well. She gave me good advise today to go with the bike I like and deal with the seat choice separately. It made sense and helped me decide. They assembled the bike, tried out a seat and suspension post I brought, made adjustments to the bike until I was happy. I am so lucky to have gone to BG instead of buying online for the same price. My boyfriend has been a loyal customer to the Bicycle Garage and loves supporting small businesses. However this last experience we had with Mac was horrible and we will not be returning. They had promised his bike would be ready in a 9 days (10/02), and would send a quote after one. After 9 days of hearing nothing from them, he called and was told they would need another 3-4 days because they have to order a part , meaning they clearly hadn't looked at his bike even though it was many days after the bike return date, and the original work order stated it would be done by 10/02. He called again after the 3-4 days and was told the bike still wasn't ready and they haven't even started the repair. They promised the next day it would be ready, it wasn't and they said come back later and they'll get it done. TLDR; it took them 2 weeks to give us back the bike and zero communication. They also tacked on a new chain and the labor fee even though that wasn't cleared with him before picking up the bike. When confronted, Mac was extremely rude and said "we are busy" as a response to why the bike took so long - again this was 7 days after the promised return- and "we bought the wrong part and had to wait for a new part". They offered no apology or any sort of understanding. Disappointed that we'll have to find a new bike shop because we liked them, but this is absurd and unacceptable. read more

We ordered an electric bicycle for my wife this year. As we were unsure what to buy, we had narrowed our choice down to three possible models and went to several shops to see the options. At the The Bicycle Garage they took the time to carefully listen to what we were looking for, then showed us one of the possible models we had previously identified, but also showed us a few more that we had not known about. We ended up with one of that alternatives they showed us, and they matched the online Black Friday deal from the manufacturer. It was a some assembly required out of the box, but the shop took care of the assembly and handled the backorder of some additional items that did not arrive with the initial order. Met owners Fred and Tina of The Bicycle Garage. Has been around for over 15 years I think. What a great selection of bikes! Looks small from the outside but inside is a mass amount of different new and used bike selections. I didn't know there were so many kinds and brands. They sell many brands. I am a regular biker trying to get in shape and it's refreshing to be outside and not cooped up in the house. Spoke with the owners and they gave me a good education and tips tricks about owning a bike. I got an education on different types of ebikes which I am more interested in and still shopping around for. Even the rules of the road were explained was something new to me. Definitely, come here to get your bike or at least, be educated about them. They sell good quality new and used bikes at decent prices. The staff here are great people and good customer service.
