So your back's backed up against the wall.. And the bandwagon's fallin' right off.. And you're hearin' all the talk about, "Maybe you should think about.. What you're gonna do if it don't work out".. So, if you got a fire, don't lose it If you got a do-or-die dream, do it.. If you got somethin' to prove, go on and prove it.. Don't let nobody clip your wings..:) After walkin the beautiful "New Trail" from Old Town to Sawmill we stopped in for Lunchtime.. Our initial plan was halted when an Eatery there was closed... Our Backup Plan, was spot-on, at "Frenchies Dips and Tots". We shared the " Hatch Dip" Sandwich of.. "Prime Rib, Herbed Beef Bone Au Jus, Hatch Green Chile Salsa w/ White Cheddar".. Each bite was nicely cooked juicy delish. From the generous helpin of sliced prime rib, to the nice kick of green chile to the flavourful Au Good Jus. This Ju was smitten.. We washed our grub down, with beers from the next door Paxton's Taproom. Yes, Frenchie's was the perfect backup plan..:) Keep your head down, keep on the blinders Tune out the doubters and all the closed minders.. If it's in your blood, fallin' down ain't enough.. I ordered this French dip roast beef sandwich with grilled mushrooms and truffles, and cheese. It was on a crusty French bread roll. Considering the $16+ price, I expected a bigger sandwich or a side of chips or something. Even a pickle wedge? Nope! I got a cup that was partially filled of au jus sauce for dipping and asked the girl to fill it up, which she did. It was like a big deal to do this. She was too busy reading a novel, while seated on a stool behind the counter, and I was interrupting her reading. The small sandwich sat in the corner of a mostly empty cardboard tray. That all said the sandwich was good, but hardly worth any bang for my bucks. Hey where were my tater tots on my tray that I am now observing in other posts. So I paid for an incomplete meal. You owe me! I just called to complain and it went to a voicemail with a Santa Fe number. Credit me back for an incomplete meal. read more

Came for a quick lunch and it did the trick. Got the classic French dip which was pretty good. The tator tots were really good. The price though was little insane. Sandwich, tots and drink for $30 I know it's sawmill but geez that's an expensive lunch. I'll explore other spots at sawmill next time. read more

Frenchie's Dips and Tots located in the Sawmill Market in Old Town Albuquerque. We went on a Friday evening so parking on both sides of the market plus the street were pretty packed but after driving around a bit, we found a place to park. We were visiting from out of town and decided to check out the SawMill Market which has such a variety of food, drinks, and desserts. The whole place is amazing and beautiful. It's a great place to meet up with friends and everyone gets what they want and find seats together. We love French Dips but wanted something with the New Mexico flare (meaning the hatch chile peppers). We grabbed a Hatch Dip and smothered tots. I see other people complaining of the price but all of the places at Sawmill seem a bit high. I see the quality in the French dip and tots and would definitely get it again. The bread was perfection that had a nice flaky top with a thick and tough breading ready to soak up the steaming hot slightly salty and oh so flavorful au jus. The prime rib was good quality and you can taste it. I loved the hatch chile peppers and they were not too spicy. I think the French dip was really good. The smothered tots were so so good. Super crispy and smothered in hat hatch chile pepper salsa, white queso, and bacon. Best tots I have ever had. I loved the crisp and they weren't super greasy. It was a delicious dinner. read more

Cute spot in Sawmill. I ordered the Truffle Dip and it was delicious. Perfect for my appetite but my husband would have still been hungry. For the price tho ($16.50) I think it should come with some sort of side, like a pickle, chips, or tots. read more

Frenchie's is conveniently located in the Sawmill Market and the menu is simple but effective. There was surprisingly no line when we came on the weekend and the staff was friendly in giving recommendations. We ended up ordering the Truffle Dip since it sounded the most savory. It is reasonably priced for being in Sawmill Market and the portion size was decent! The prime rib was tender and packed with flavor. The truffled aioli and sautéed mushrooms complemented the prime rib well. My main complaint is that the Truffle Dip was a bit too salty. If they could dial down the saltiness, this would have been the perfect sandwich. Overall, Sawmill Market is a fun place to come for a date night and I highly recommend checking out Frenchie's to satisfy your savory food cravings. Tasty French dip! Located inside Sawmill Market. Simple menu, we went for the Hatch Dip, it has Green Chile and cheese on a buttered grilled bun. The sandwich with a side of tots was plenty for my partner and I to share. The au jus was just how au jus should be in my opinion. The tots were crazy crispy and delicious..neither of us were fans of the curry ketchup. They may have other sauce options, we didn't ask. The seating in Sawmill can be competitive, a lot more outside seating available, but the weather has to be right to enjoy..more indoor seating would be amazing. Service - 5/5 Prompt, efficacious and courteous Truffle Dip - 5/5 Savory stacked on savory. Thin sliced roast beef, mushrooms, swiss cheese, truffle aioli, consommé. Incredible. Value - 4/5 Frenchie's is in Sawmill so expect a smaller portion at Sawmill prices. I tried the Truffle & Mushroom Frenchie, and it was delicious. Thinly sliced roast beef on a toasted baguette with garlic aioli, Swiss cheese and served with a warm au jus. The beef was very tender and you could tell it was freshly cut because it came a nice slightly pink medium temperature. The baguette was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Serving size is about 6-8oz of beef so you will have room for a side of fries. Enjoy!!! read more

Frenchie's Dips and Tots is exactly what their name entails. They have a few different French Dip style sandwiches with a slight variation to each. The price point is nice because they are all pretty much the same price. $16 to $16.50. I opted for the Truffle Dip because who doesn't like truffles! I got an order of tots, because why not. The food came out looking great! Tots looked nice and crunchy and the french dip looked fantastic with the melted cheese and everything. The truffle flavor was very prominent which I was very pleased with. I gave them 3 stars because although everything looked amazing, and yes the truffle flavor came through, EVERYTHING was cold. I don't know if they just cook everything in advance but if that was the case, then I don't think I would have waited as long as I did for my order. Maybe there was a mix up at the counter and getting this out, but it was a disappointment. If I wanted a cold sandwich, I would found a place with cold cuts and potato chips! I'll give them another try because their french dip was good, fingers crossed it comes out fresh next time! read more

A solid French dip and their smothered tots are pleasing as well. I got the truffle one on the recommendation of the cashier and didn't regret it. The meat could be a little softer and I think just slicing it thinner would probably be enough to get there. read more

This is a small place on a corner in Sawmill Market. Easy to pass but you'll wish you'd stopped! First, the service was really good. Explained everything and helped us s make great food choices. The prime rib sandwiches are absolutely delicious!! I opted for the one with truffle aioli and it was killer. I wasn't a fan of the beef Au jus, but LOVED the one that comes with the Turkey Sandwich. The hubby ordered the Turkey one, and he really liked it. He preferred the beef sandwich Au Jus, so we stopped! lol win-win!! We also ordered the Tots with Bacon, Queso, and green chili's (which we got on the side). They were SO good!! The high quality ingredients make the French dips. The bread has enough bit to hold up when dipped and the meat was melt in your mouth tender. The staff were helpful when trying to decide what to order. I would have liked more cheese on the smothered tots but that's a personal preference. read more

This was one of the best French dips I have ever had in my life. The prime rib shaved meat was super tender and flavorful and I absolutely loved the horseradish cream sauce on it. Frenchie's is located smack dab in the middle of the saw mill. Along with their prime location they also have the prime food!! It isn't the largest menu but there are plenty of options for anyone that enjoys prime rib!! Their servers are always knowledgeable of their products and can assist you with some recommendations if you wish. Their tots are a nice addition too! I came in tonight and much of my disappointment I ordered and received their hatch dip. The sandwich was not only mushy but bland, it taste as if they sprinkled additional hot seasoning on their green chile. The sauce that comes with the tots is more of a cocktail sauce, rather than ketchup, the meat was fatty, bland, and smells weird. Inside Sawmill Market, there's finally a place that does a real French dip sandwich. I asked for mine to be rare and it was. In a French dip the bread matters, they it so right. I haven't tried tater tots. The service is fine. The menu isn't big and the location isn't either. I've already been back a second time. The only thing is I wish it has more meat. The price is $16 for the classic, if there was more $16 would be better. read more

Just tried this place on a whim when we were at Sawmill Market yesterday, and they did not disappoint! My husband tried the Hatch green chile French dip, and I tried the truffle one. Both were so good! Note that you should really enjoy truffle flavor for the one I had, because it is strong to stand up to the jus. The green chile was not spicy at all yesterday, and the jus dampened it further, but the flavor was great. The bread was perfect for French Dip, soft and fresh, but crusty with great bite. We also shared smothered tots as a side and they were outstanding as well. Hot and crispy, with cheese and bacon, plus carmelized onions. They also have a small selection of drinks including Fiji water, which I appreciated. It made our trip a one-stop delight, and our food was ready super fast, as we went early afternoon when they were not busy. We will definitely return to try the classic and turkey dips soon! read more

The truffle sandwich, omg! Everything about it was so good from the bread to the cheese to the meat. Other reviews said that the truffle flavor was quite strong but I thought it was just right. It came out fairly quickly and the server was helpful in walking us through the menu. We didn't try the tots but we did try their homemade ketchup and it was good. We also got arepas and ended up putting it in those with great results. And they have topo Chico! It is on the pricey side for a sandwich considering it doesn't come with tots or a drink. read more

Went to SawMill today for lunch with my husband. Haven't been in a while. There are lots of new places in there. Which is nice to see. Frenchies caught my eye, so I ordered the classic with a side of tots. Wasn't real busy so didn't take long at all for order. Was super good! Tots were super crispy and their miso ketchup is so good. I ordered the turkey dip and tots and both were quite tasty. Food was hot and fresh, tots were nice and crispy. Service was also great and fast. Deducted one star because $26, is overpriced for a luncheon meat sandwich and tots. With that being said, I would return if I find myself back at the sawmill, which is overpriced as a whole. read more

We were stopping in Albuquerque at a hotel during a long road trip and we're looking for a place to eat and came across frenchies. I ordered the turkey sandwich and the normal tots. This food was very good the service was average they were nice but it took quite a while to make the food. The reason I docked a star was because it was a bit pricey $60 for two sandwiches and two tots and no beverage I would like to say that the ambiance was very beautiful but it is very crowded considering it is located in a food court like area. To start, as we came in, we were offered a biscochito to try while we decided on what to order. Honestly, the decision was hard... so many delicious looking things on the menu but finally decided on a salami and provolone sandwich, with green chile bread. Wow! Amazing sandwich, fresh, delicious! While we were enjoying our food, Pratt Morales, the owner and master baker, came out and talked to us for a while. This was a real treat, great positive attitude and love for what he does. He even introduced us to one of his specialties the Turkey shaped bread he makes for Thanksgiving. So popular now he gets hundreds of orders per year. We left with some biscochitos and other cookies to go, and a desire to try more things when we are back in Albuquerque.

I had to walk back to the location, stand at the register while being ignored by 4 employees, 3 "cooks" and 1 other employee seemed to be a plain front of house worker/waiter, until another 5th employee comes to the register. I had the take out bag on the counter so they could see I wasn't ordering anything new, just wanted to fix an incorrect order but no one greeted or acknowledged me. No one said one moment either. The girl who came to the register was sweet and asked the cooks for my onion on the side. When she joked with them about not putting onion on my burger the older woman cook blamed a new girl employee for the mistake. I then got 3 thin slices of red onion and the mayo packets and went on my way. I took a screenshot of the online prices for this location for some of the burgers because they are actually incorrect- by $2! Not very nice to see especially if a family is on a trip and let's say only had cash. Just be careful and check your orders and wait until you're IN the restaurant for pricing. (Completely forgot to take a photo of the menu put up in there.)

We were then given instructions about ordering at the counter then choosing whatever seating we wanted in the main room or in the adjoining heated closed patio. The food that came to the table was great! The breakfast burrito was HUGE and very tasty! Eggs, hash browns and pork chop, also delicious! The prices very reasonable! The manager came by to ask how everything was! We will definitely be back!

My daughter got strawberries, Nutella, bananas, and whipped cream on it. It was really good for a gluten-free crêpe. I got tacos from Flora two shrimp tacos and a root veggie taco and they were all good. All three tacos were gluten-free. I also got loaded fries from Meso Grill they had feta and Greek olives. They don't fry anything but falafel and french fries in the fryer both gluten free so there was no risk of cross contamination. My daughter got pho from Kulantro, which was gluten-free and she loved it. My sister ordered ramen from Clay Pot, which was not gluten-free she loved it too. Overall, everything was good.
