How sad is that you treat you customers so poorly, telling them is not a swap meet and calling a client "pendeja", you need to be clear with your prices and explain why the suddenly increased. I bought a rosca de Reyes there a while ago it was the most disgusting thing I ever ate, the flavors were full of artificial flavors, the bread was super dry, on top of that super expensive, I had to put it in the garbage after the next day because the bread was hard as a rock. Sadly you think your Mexican or Spanish speaking clients don't bring business to your business, but yes they do, treat them with respect because they will respect you more if you are immigrant because we are in the same page. read more

Our Thanksgiving rolls have mold on them 2 days after I bought them. It's Thanksgiving and now we don't have rolls for dinner. Terrible!

Staff: Okay, never felt that customer service was spectacular nor has anyone ever been rude either. Just standard type of interactions. Prices: They are fair and have no complaints. One day a week as I recall they have cupcake sales where you can really save money. Quality: Definitely one of my absolute favorite Bakeries of all. The most famous thing are their wagon wheels. I've literally bought at least 40 of these over the past 15 or so years. Their cookies are delicious, danishes are the bomb (chocolate chip especially), scones, and I've even ordered a birthday cake which was delicious. Can't go wrong here. The service is just OK. They seemed already had a long day. I am extremely disappointed with the cake, I had raspberry white cake filling. The cake was dense. The frosting tasted overly sweet and greasy. The price I paid should be fresh whipped cream. Instead, It tasted like cheap frosting from supermarkets. We eat at the Hawaiian place around the corner quite a bit. I can't believe we don't come here more. Family run business, everything fresh, everything delicious, super friendly staff. These cakes are outstanding. Super tasty and moist. I would recommend any of the cakes with fresh strawberries and whipped frosting. It's not too sweet. I didn't love the cupcakes. I love this place. It has fresh baked bread that is awesome, many varieties of cupcakes, and cookies and assorted desserts. I bought a loaf of Sheepherder's bread and it was flaky on the outside and fluffy on the inside, exactly the way it's supposed to be. I grew up LOVING their wagon wheels. My parents would get them for special treats and holidays. Now as an adult... it's just okay. French's is my favorite bakery! I have been coming here since I was a kid and their items never disappoint. I have ordered birthday cakes from them and they have been perfect. I am a huge fan of their fresh breads, cookies and pastries. BUT the best thing is their $1 cupcakes every Tuesday! They aren't mini cupcakes and no flavor is skimped! I love stopping by and picking up some treats anytime I am in the area. The only hard part is that they usually close pretty early (3pm I think) so I have a hard time getting there during the week. But during the holidays they are open later which is a huge perk! read more

We've been going to this local bakery for years and order cakes a lot form here but we always have issues with the owner. Today we went to place an order and we were priced $72 for a cake we just bought last month for $42. Keep in mind it's the same style different color and they state "inflation" $30 increase in a month ? I understand $10-15. We barely get strawberries when we order it !! Then she talks to you like you're not a human being she's rude and disrespectful. I know what it takes to own a business but if someone is frustrated with prices you don't dismiss their concerns and tell them to stop talking. She said " this is not a swap meet I'm not going to negotiate prices with you" that's really aggressive tacky and a racist comment. We always give this place so many chances because the staff is so nice to us and we always give our money because it's local but when the prices don't make sense and you're rude about it then of course we are gunna be upset. We both have the right as human beings to be upset but as a business owner the way she approaches others and told us to leave the bakery is inappropriate. We didn't even say bad remakes until she told us to leave as anyone else would the way she spoke to us‍ We've been going here for 10+ years but not anymore. I would never speak to customers the way she did. Cherry on top is calling a customer PENDEJA anyways needless to say we will be taking our business sadly somewhere else. Hands down their pinwheel bakery item is amazing!! It's so yummy but for sure it needs to be eaten the same day. It can feed at least 10-12 (small pieces) and is great for a work event. Do not get the brownies, they are so extremely rich with sugar overload....will make your teeth hurt. Guests took a nibble and had to throw them away. Danish is also sugar overload....you can't taste the flavor of the fruit topping for the sugar. I have tried several baked items ...all way too sweet. Another Iconic place that brings back memories of days gone by when French's Pastry and Bakery was a favorite go-to shop. The lovely missus insisted we make a stop whilst in the area. Inside the bakery are colorful display cases of treats galore. From cold fruit cups to cakes to swirls to cookies to breads and much in between. The young lady was patient and had herself a display of 1" long pearl white finger nails...concerned?...maybe a little as no gloves are worn. We got a big loaf of sourdough that we asked to be sliced. A smaller, just right size loaf of banana bread. The two Danish treats, one a lemon and one full of red cherries. From the cold display case, we chose a rectangular slice of good carrot cake, and I wanted to do a chocolate eclair. The eclair was different from my humble experience as the filling was a different pudding like textured yellowish cream. The Sourdough is great toasted, and the Danish treats were a welcomed snack. For an alternative to the big name grocery markets, give French's Pastry and Bakery a chance to fill your baked goods and sweets a try. read more

Been a customer of French's for over 15 years, both personally and through various organizations. The bakery has always been like a family establishment and we had always treated with respect. I haven't been there in a while, but recently tried to order a cake and encountered the same bad customer service other customers are experiencing. Something clearly has changed. I called to ask if they could have a cake ready in 3 days notice, described my order (a simple whipped cream sheet cake w/ strawberry filling) and they said "Yes". But somehow once I mentioned that I was driving the cake to a location 2 hours away (Mexico), their entire tone changed and suddenly it was "too short notice" and was told I had to give a week notice. First I was told the decorator didnt recommend me transporting the cake 2 hours away, which is fine. I understand that transportation can sometimes risk the frosting melting or cake decorations being bumped etc. But isnt that the customer's problem, not the decorators? I informed them I have transported cakes here before and have not had an issue, and asked if they could still make the cake regardless of the location is was being taken to. But suddenly the girl was short, rude and not willing to help at all. I was told it was short notice-- after being told the timing was ok. I'm not sure who is deciding (the decorator??) where its ok for customers to "transport" cakes to, but apparently Mexico is not ok. I want ownership to know that their employees are making rash decisions as to what customers can and cant do with cakes or where its ok to transport them to. I would think once I pay for the cake, if I drop it, bump it, melt it or ruin it in any way, its my problem. Through an OC organization, I volunteer with other organizations in Mexico and have often enjoyed bringing "local OC" pastries to events (including churches, refugees, orphanages etc) in Mexico. After this indignant treatment --stemming evidently from their learning where the cake was being taken to-- French's will never be considered again for our personal or professional events. read more

I like this bake shop because it's close to where my son goes to swim and I sometimes come here when I wait for my son. They are Wi-Fi equipped and a restroom but I haven't use the restroom so I don't know if they are clean. read more

We have been going to French's since they opened the store on Baker and Fairview. I even ordered my wedding cake back in 1984. We have always bought our birthday cakes there. Last month we went to get a cake for my brother's birthday. It was last minute. So we bought the only white cake available. A single layer cake. We enjoyed it that night.
