Heard great things about this place. $8 margs (on the rocks or frozen) at Happy Hour 3-8pm Tuesday through Friday. Great music Great ambiance Tasty drinks Decent food Ok service I really feel like a lot of love was put into this restaurant, with the decor, and all are welcome policy. The place was empty when I came at 4pm on a Friday. I had a strawberry frozen margarita with a tajin rim and the pork tamal. Both were great. The pork tamal was the perfect consistency. It had a bit to much sauce but honestly better than being to dry. The server was not rude and checked in on me. He seemed perfectly fine but in a hurry and it made me a bit anxious. When I left and was getting out of my chair he came to the same side of the table not to move the table away to help me get out but to clear the glass from the table. Would have been fine if he wasn't leaning over and if I wasn't in the middle of standing up. I almost lost my balance and fell. All's well that ends well I guess. I didn't feel very welcome there, but maybe it was just an off night. This was definitely a 3.5 star establishment. Also they charge a 4% charge for using a credit card so bring cash if you don't wanna pay a surcharge

3.5 stars Gave it a 4 for great service! Came for lunch on a sunday and it was empty, which worked out for us since we had a baby in tow. The corn appetizer was delicious. We got the ropa vieja over nachos which isn't on their menu but it was really tasty and worth the upcharge! I wish they allowed us to mix the tacos but you must order them in 3s so we got the al pastor and the fish. I had high hopes but it was just okay. The al pastor was too sweet, needed more acid. The fish had too much breading. Overall a decent spot for apps and drinks! And its close to the noguchi museum if you need something to eat after!

    CHICKEN TINGA (SPICY CHICKEN) *NEW

This place was sooooooooo good. A friend who's native to the area recommended this to me on my birthday trip, and I'm very glad he did. I got (wings) and (tinga tacos) and I enjoyed every bit. I will say the chicken could've been juicier, but the flavors were incredible. It was pretty quiet there, which was probably because of the time and day that I went, but I loved the ambiance.

    Burrito

Well-liked spot in an area without many restaurants. Very much a fusion spot, as opposed to more 'classic' dishes served straight. Heavy cilantro in Peruvian green rice, paired with sweet chili Thai sauce, in a burrito. Wasn't for me but would be perfect for those into fusion. Service was very kind and quick. You can let them know if you'd like to pay cash, before they bring the check, so they can remove the credit card service charge they add. Prices were different on the check than the online menu (no paper menus), so they should update that ASAP. Overall the prices were higher than you'd expect, but again, for being in a low-option corner of the neighborhood, it could be well-worth it for others.

Fresco's is the best there is!! They have top tier performances and fantastic food. The fact that I can have tostones and queens doing death drops in the same room is a dream come true. Plus the back area is a gorgeous atmosphere. The energy and music is always great, the servers and staff are always so kind and accommodating. Topped it all off with my favorite cake for my birthday- tres leches! Fantastic experience. Remember to bring cash to tip your queens!!

My friend and I tried this place for the first time. The ambience felt really nice upon walking in and I found myself admiring the decor. The food was tasty too or maybe we were just really hungry? We ordered the chicken quesadilla, fish tacos, Tamal de Frida and chocolate lava cake. However, we felt something was off with our waiter's attitude. The receipt said Adrian was our server. The place was pretty empty at 3:30pm on a rainy Sat afternoon. Just one other table was finishing up. He pointed us to a table for 2 so we asked for a larger table that sits 4 so we can spread out a bit. There were so many empty tables so didn't think it was a big deal. Throughout the meal we didn't ask for much either. Just extra napkins, straws, water refill. Also placed another order since the entree size didn't look filling enough. He did come by twice on his own to check on us. I have to give him credit for that! Finally when we said we were all done with our meal and he was about to give us the bill we changed our minds and asked about dessert and if he had any recommendations. He didn't put in any effort and just said they're all good. We ended up ordering the chocolate lava cake (It was delicious!). As he walked away he crumbled the bill so loud that it made me take a pause from my conversation. That's when I felt he was really annoyed with us! I didn't say anything to my friend thinking I was just being paranoid. At the end when the bill came we saw an 18% tip was automatically added on and then it made total sense! Why would he care about watching his attitude if he didn't have to earn his tip?! Also a 3.5% "technology fee" was added on too but he didn't ask if we wanted to pay in cash which we were prepared to do. We didn't want to ask and bother him so just paid with a credit card. And then as soon as we walked out my friend asked if I had sensed an attitude from the waiter. OMG! I rarely post reviews (this is my 2nd one) but felt I really needed to share this experience!

Side of chips and guac (not appetizer size)

We came on a Friday and there was a decent number of people there, especially to partake in the HH specials. My bf ordered a beer and I tried their sangria. The sangria was pleasant though it was slightly on the sweeter side if you enjoy that as well. Food wise, we ordered Los Tres Amigos (grilled chicken, steak and shrimp skewers) and a side of chips and guac to start. For our entrees, my bf got the surf and turf (shrimp and steak) tacos and I ordered the fish tacos. These came with the house sauces on the side (green was mild and red had a nice kick). The skewers that we had as appetizers surprised me since I wasn't sure if the grilled chicken would be tough or not (it was actually cooked well and juicy). The fish tacos were crispy and delicious. I added both house sauces and like the mild with the fish tacos though a little bit of the red mixed with the green sauce gave it a pleasant kick. My bf enjoyed the steak tacos as well but liked the fish tacos slightly more! Our waiter was really friendly and helpful when we had questions or asked for recommendations. We definitely plan to come back! This place would also be good for groups depending on where you sit.

I give it 4 stars because I deducted for their service. We arrived and was told to pick a table for two. We did and was told about the happy hour menu which ends at 8pm. I ordered the red sangria off the happy hour menu. The waitstaff was lacking as they wouldn't check up on us often enough. Instead they would forget to refill waters and had to be told multiple times. Forget about bringing the check and etc... The food was good which is while the service was lacking I let it slide a bit. Decided not to order appetizers as we opted instead for desserts. For entree I ordered the Chuleta Al Caballo which is a marinated sliced skirt steak tossed in their house-made chimichurri sauce. I ate every last bit and had nothing left over. I would like to try their fajitas and other entrees on the menu next time. For dessert we ordered Mexico City and the Churros. The Mexico City was really delicious - it had Fried Banana Caramel cheesecake eggroll, tossed in cinnamon sugar. It's drizzled with dulce de leche sauce served with vanilla ice cream. The churros was alright nothing amazing so if you want to try a dessert try Mexico City.

The place was very welcoming and the ambiance is really cool. The vibes was very lit and our waiter Yesenia was very sweet and gave us a bunch of good options for food and drinks She was very friendly and knows her menu very well! She is the best!! Mind you this is me and my friend first time coming here The vibe is 100/100

So far I've been to Fresco's twice and both times were fantastic. The food is so good and the service was excellent.. additionally the music that was playing were straight up bops and happy hour goes until 8! What could get better than that?!

    Chicken burrito
    Marci A.

One of the best places in the neighborhood for some good Mexican food. We showed up a little late (an hour before closing) and had to order right away bc they close the kitchen 30min before closing time but nonetheless everything was good. The chicken empanadas are much better than the beef. The burger was really good and the grilled chicken burrito was fantastic! I'm not a huge fan of their drinks but I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more stuff.

    Chicken and lettuce!

No words for how basic the food was. Bland and dry. It's so over priced - never again.

    Cantina nachos

Ordered delivery through Uber Eats from this restaurant on a Friday evening. Low delivery fee and not too long of a window before it arrived still hot at our doorstep. Between two people: had the Cantina Nachos ($8.80), Sesame-Ginger Chicken Tacos ($15.40), and a side of jalapenos ($1.10). Nachos are a hefty layering of warm tortilla chips, nacho cheese, sour cream, guacamole, beans, and tomatoes. We ordered the jalapenos since the dish didn't come with it, providing the extra kick we like. Chips are a bit stale, but softened up with all the ingredients loaded on top. Tacos are three to an order, a tangy/sweet sauce covering sliced chicken breast and some greens. Overall basic flavor but the tortillas are also stale. Side of lime helped a bit, and added some of the guac from the nachos for more flavor. As some other Mexican delivery options, we have noticed a lot of stale tortillas/chips when ordering. Probably better in person rather than delivery.

The prices are insane even with a Groupon always ask for prices of shots because they push for the most expensive things.

It ended up being the best decision we made all night. Emily, our server, was nice, attentive, and took great care of us. The food was just as fresh and delicious as at the taco stand at the QNM. The purple corn tortillas were incredible, the chicken was hot, juicy, and flavorful, the steak was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the mushroom taco. The restaurant has a fun, authentic Mexican vibe with colorful décor, a great playlist that really adds to the atmosphere, and it's honestly a cute spot if you want to snap a few photos. Since it was cold outside, I was craving something warm. I got the sopa de pollo, which was a large chicken soup. It hit the spot. I also tried one taco since that's what they specialize in here. It was so large and they gave it in a blue tortilla. I was so full by the end. I would definitely come back to try more from the menu.
