Stopped in for lunch today, expecting some half baked "healthy food" place. Boy was I completely surprised, not only by the fantastic food but the ambience. I've never felt so relaxed, comfortable and walked away fully satisfied. The menu was simple and easy to read. The service was top notch and friendly. This restaurant is a really great experience. The atmosphere is calming. The first thing I noticed is the delicious smell of ginger when you come in. It made me want to eat healthy! The waitor who might be the owner was extremely polite and patient with us deciding what we wanted to eat. We went with children who had a hard time deciding what they wanted. The food was absolutely wonderful. Everything was extremely fresh abd beautiful. The person who prepared it paid so much attention to detail. The vegetables and meat were prepared very meticulously. Read all the reviews and decided to stop in. When we arrived (2 on a Saturday) the place was packed. We took this as a good sign--it was popular! We were wrong. We ordered. Twenty minutes later, we realized none of the other tables had any food, and none was leaving the kitchen. The wait staff didn't warn us it was going to be a wait, and indeed seemed to ignore us entirely. It took an hour almost exactly for our food to arrive. It was good, but not worth an hour wait. The food was delicious! Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. They are clearly very focused on healthy unprocessed foods. They manage to achieve that goal with seriously tasty dishes. Can't say enough about this little hidden gem. Been coming for about 2 years and it's great each and every time. Great place for a lunch with friends or to place an order to go. Well as per the reviews from Yelp we decided to try Fresh Heim. The lack of the final star is for the professionalism of the staff being at a high level. Yet I do have to say they were friendly and courteous. That being said the food is truly a delightful change from any dining experience we have had in Austin. The entire food experience from appetizer to entree was perfection. We decided to start with two spring rolls the chicken and hummus. The vegetables were fresh and the combination delicious as well as aesthetically pleasing. The dipping sauce added to the rolls without being overpowering. We tried two different main courses: prime rib steak and chicken with a side of fresh steamed veggies and raw salad. The meat was cooked to perfection. Although I would say my steak was a little over seasoned, it was cooked to my asking medium rare and melted in my mouth. The chicken was moist and also melted in your mouth with a delightful sauce. The sides of vegetables and beautifully season type of sticky rice were light and we could taste each different vegetable in the purist form. Our dishes came w several different sauces for us to dip into if we chose. This delightful little restaurant has only been open for 2 months. I can't wait to see how it will develop over the next several months as more of us Austin folk adventured to this truly unique eating experience We look forward to going to Fresh Heim again and often. read more

Being on a diet and eating out.. Not the easiest combo! But this restaurant offers just enough variety and everything is healthy! If you're craving a steak, this is the place to go! My sirloin was so tender and juicy!! My hubby and son had the steamed veggies, I had the fresh salad. Both were amazing! My daughter had the shrimp rolls and loved it! Fresh Heim is a small place with incredible food and a bit of an identity crisis. I can't capture just how good the food is in just a few words, so I won't even try. Aside: Like others have mentioned, be prepared for the portion size. It is perfectly in line with other higher-end restaurants. But it is noticeably smaller than a standard tex-mex/American place. Go there for quality, not quantity. I had the chicken breast with mango sauce (spicy.) It was easily the best chicken I've had in memory (recent or not.) Both the quality of the chicken--cooked perfectly, etc--and the seasoning/sauces. The mango sauce is quite light. Thier spicy sauce is similar to a sirracha sauce, but I'd be surprised if they didn't make it themselves: tastier and a bit spicier than that rooster bottle glued to the table at most mid-range Asian joints. The quality and freshness of the vegetables in the "salad" was superb. I include quotes only because it does not come out first like an anonymous tossed concoction would at other steakhouses. It is an integral part of the main course. Next time I will try the fresh vegetables: the two pieces of asparagus that garnished the chicken left me quite curious to experience the rest of their vegetables, especially the brussel sprouts.--I've never had a Brussel sprout that was remotely edible, but I keep hearing that very well prepared ones are tasty. This would put that mystery to bed, if any place could make them tasty (to me) this place certainly would. I chose the noodles, which were 1 to 1.5 cups of noodles that turned out to be a variation on an Japanese sesame noodles. (I happen to strongly dislike sesame; to me, it it completely overpowers everything else. I thought the noodles were between okay and good, which must mean they were actually top notch as well.) I sampled the rice, and rather than just being a filler on the side, it was flavorful and I would have eaten every last grain. Get the server to describe the rice for you, since I only had a nibble I would probably get it wrong. Just do not expect a cup of steamed white rice. I saw the potatoes: they were a couple of thick slices of baked potatoes in a yellow sauce. I mention this because the server described them as a regular "baked potato" - - I assume the notation that one would just eat a plain baked potato slathered with butter and cheese along with their stake is such a foreign concept he didn't even realize he described it confusingly for an American audience. In the beginning of this review I mentioned an identity crisis: The owner/operators are Japanese and you can definitely see that coming through in the decor and through the preparation of the meal. Important: this is NOT "Japanese food," and I'm not sure I would even say it is inspired by Japanese food.--Except perhaps the appetizer rolls that, like everything else, were incredibly tasty. I had the shrimp roll with the ginger sauce/dressing. I would describe them as cross between a Vietnamese spring roll and a Sushi roll.--To rephrase, Fresh Heim is NOT Japanese food, but rather it is how a Japanese chef would reinvent the American steak and potatoes. Also on the identity crisis front is the mismatch among the location, decor, prices and quality of the food. And I am not complaining about this! Even though the tables look only one or two steps up from a plastic table and it's tucked away in an anonymous strip center... It allows you to get food at the level you may expect from a posh French place downtown at prices comparable to a typical steakhouse (E.g. Texas Road House.) read more

Wow... so after writing the review, the owner wrote back telling me I'm a liar, and that all of his reviews are real. Of course they are, that's why your reviews average less than 20% of the friend/review numbers of most other restaurants. Include the ones yelp already caught and that number goes even lower. With your sample size being over 50 reviews, you can't write that off to random chance anymore. You are paying for positive reviews. There's no question about it. After writing it I guess he realized what he sounded like, cause he deleted the comment he wrote. Oh, and I'm a woman by the way. I was there three weeks ago on a Thursday night with a friend. There was only one other table in the entire restaurant the entire time we were there. Remember me now? Speaking of which, a lot of the reviews mention how you're empty all the time. Who's writing your reviews? Based on the pace of your reviews you're getting reviews at the same pace as Uchi and Uchiko. That's real likely. And I love how immediately after I posted my review, you get a flurry of new reviews that just happen to no longer fit the 0-1 friend, 0-3 reviews profile. For a restaurant doing hardly any business, you seem to have a lot of really dedicated customers. Yelp should really check the EXIF data on the pictures that are being uploaded by the 'customers' for this restaurant. I have a sneaking suspicion if they did, they'd find they're all taken with the same camera. read more

Great place for a really good healthy meal! We ordered the Tenderloin w/Oriental Sauce and Eine sauce both. Meat was amazing cooked medium. Oriental sauce much better than the wine sauce. Ordered veggies and fruits, paired with the sauces makes for an awesome combo. Dip your meat in the oriental sauce and veggies in the Balsamic soy and you won't be disappointed. So healthy! This place really cares about fitness and well-being and is certain to fill you up as well. My meal was very well portioned with an emphasis on getting you your greens. The pork belly and pork loin were both very delicious. The atmosphere is very comfortable with nice furniture with a classy piano in the corner for anyone who wants to help please the crowd and add energy to the vibrancy of the restaurant. Service was extremely pleasant with a very flattering waitress. My meals were quick to come out and pleasantly prepared. I went here two days in a row for lunch and another time the next week. This will be a regular lunch spot when I am craving something light and healthy. Honestly I was a little hungry a few hours later, but I could do without being stuffed once in a while. The food is very fresh and tasty, but the service is painfully slow, so don't go if you are in a hurry. Seems like there is always only one lady serving and it's not her strong suit. I assume she is one of the owners or a family member. They would be better off hiring someone with the demeanor and skills to be a server. I don't always want everything that is listed on my lunch plate and cannot find a way to get something subtracted and then added. I.e. I'd like to get no avocado...but then double fruit.
