We have just moved to MI and I was looking for a market to buy fruits and vegetables. This store is the best so far. Tomatoes .89 and .99 per pound, cucumbers 2 for $1, prices for apples also good, green onions 2 for $1 and radish .79. Almost everything is organic including canned and pre-packed produce. The only thing is that besides vegetables everything else is more expensive that average. read more

This is a nice little market for the area. They are a bit like Whole Foods but cheaper than them. Some things are a bit higher priced depending on what you purchase. Good selection though. I like options of the bulk aisles. People don't seem to screw that up (hopefully not ever). Their prepped foods were good prices. I went in thinking this place would be like another Whole Foods/Plum Market, but was pleased to find that it was more like a combination of Trader Joes and Nino Salvaggios. They have a nice selection of organic produce that was reasonably priced. They also had an eclectic assortment of frozen foods, drinks and yogurts. Along with the usual stuff you find in grocery store, Fresh Thyme offers some unique options to its shoppers. First, there is the large bulk food section. I only looked briefly, but they have more flavors of chocolate/yogurt covered pretzels than I knew existed. They also had a wide assortment of granola, chocolate and candies. They also has some cool self serve stations scattered through the store. The ones that I found the most interesting were the fresh nut butter presses, the oat miller, and the oil and liquid station. I am not sure if I am using the right names for the machines, so I made sure to take pictures. Feel free to educate me. Finally, they also have a nice sandwich and made to ordet pizza store near the bakery section. My wife and I ordered a 12 inch, which looked a bit small, but was very tasty. The employees at the Pizza station were very nice but a bit confused at times. However they did cut me a deal on the pizza when I commented on the size. So I have no major complaints In sum, I think Fresh Thyme fills a need in the Troy Supermarket area and I am pretty sure I will become a regular. One of my go to grocery stores when im looking for fresh organic produce and ice cream lol. There's always great deals so make sure to download their app or check out the ads on the papers. The place is always clean and well organized everytime i come here. I never had any sort of problems when looking for what i need. Come to fresh thyme and check it out because there's a lot of things here that your typical grocery stores like meijers and krogers dont carry. read more

This review is based on one shopping experience- but what a great one it was! Hubby and I had an hour and a half massage at the place next door and nothing works up a sushi appetite like a massage :-) so, hubby and I decided to pop over to see what they had. Like a beacon, the sushi sign was large-clearly visible. For 8pm, they had a wonderful selection. Hubby wanted pizza, so I grabbed a cali roll. Delish and decently priced at 5.75!!! Great produce selection. I love the fresh sushi rolls. They are usually very good about having sale items in stock and helping you locate them. The downside is cashiers are usually short staffed and not as patient with customers as you would hope. I listened to a cashier comment on how they were sick of customers stupidly trying to use the scanning device for the coupons since they did not know that the cashiers have to turn it in each time. My family and I have been going here since they opened. Unfortunately, this location seems to have issues keeping their organic produce in stock. Perhaps the person in charge of their supplies was hired from Kmart. Today, my wife went to buy some organic produce and they we're out of stock. When my wife found the Terry, he mentioned he was the store director, she mentioned she wanted to comment. He said he was the store manager. My wife stated she wanted to talk to someone who could make things happen. Terry told her to "go talk to your husband". As often as my family and we're going to this 'dried' thyme store, we will now spend our money at Wholefoods and Kroger. Terry was extremely rude and unprofessional. read more

Prices are a little high, but this store has so many excellent health products. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for both times that I've visited. They carry natural health products that aren't available at places like GNC or Vitamin Shop. You can also do a lot of your grocery shopping here as well. read more

Fresh Thyme is like if a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's had a baby. They have organic foods and delis so to reflect the healthy foods they sell, the prices are on the higher side. The almond butter is pretty good. They have the grinders filled with almonds and you can fill plastic containers with the amount you want. Overall the almond butter tastes good, but you can get better prices at Trader Joes. read more

It is nice to see that there are more healthy grocery stores coming into the area. I liked this location as it was very big and had a large variety of anything you could want. However, a lot of the brands they carry, other stores like Meijer also carry and for a cheaper price. So I might come back if I am strictly looking for 'healthy items', but for daily grocery shopping, I am going to have to stick with cheaper stores unless they get some specialty store items like Trader Joe does. read more

My new favorite grocery store! Confession: I didn't know that Fresh Thyme was backed by Meijer, which I loathe because sometimes you don't need 30 varieties of ketchup or mustard, and you don't need an entire department store. But, they did great with this one! Their prices on poultry are amazing when it's on sale and if you have a deep freezer like I do, you may end up buying 50 pounds of chicken when it is on sale.... It's just a great store! I love their salad bar, and their fresh, made to order gluten free pizza (as well as the gluten filled) is an amazing deal at $4.99 for an 8-inch. Especially when you can get all the cheese and veggies you want (as well as your choice of meat, and no upcharge for chicken). Bright, clean, a huge bulk foods section, great prices both on sale and not on sale, like I said, it's my new favorite grocery store. read more

I typically only visit Fresh Thyme to get my Kombucha but I have purchased a few other things here. Fresh Thyme is kind of like a Whole Foods or Plum Market without all the pretense. The stores are smaller, more open, and all of the employees are very nice. Compared to other organic/healthy markets, I find their prices to be comparable, but of course much more expensive than Kroger or Meijer. Overall a good place and even better when Kombucha is buy one get one 50% off. They also offer 10% case discounts, which is the same as Whole Foods but you are supporting a local market instead of a giant chain with a horrible CEO. read more

Edit: I really liked this place when it first opened but it's gone downhill since then. The staff is not helpful except the person who is working the beauty/toiletries section. The produce is average and its there aren't many fresh herbs. The cashiers are not friendly and generally bad at their jobs. On several occasions they have just thrown produce down in a bag forcefully or dropped something delicate and then put it in the bag without even asking if I still want it. --- Previous review from 9 months ago: Love this store! If anything good happened in 2016 it's that I magically stumbled upon this place one afternoon and tried their sushi. Unreal. Seriously, their sushi is life changing. The guy behind the counter who serves it up deserves an award. Is it better than Noble Fish? There is no comparison, this is far better! I've honestly never had better sushi than the Fresh Thyme on Big Beaver. And what's awesome is that there's great variety to choose from and it's super convenient during my lunch hour. Like the other reviews mentioned, it's a cross between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Produce: They have a decent amount of organic produce but it is mostly conventional. They do have some local produce as well, but I stick to organic. I picked up some organic broccoli today that was really fresh and about 40% less than Whole Foods. Dairy: There is a large selection of yogurts, milks, and vegan options. Bulk Section: They do have a nice assortment of different bulk items, but I wish that they had more organic selections like organic rice. They do have coffee (organic and conventional), granola, nuts, candy, etc. They have a machine where you can mill your own oats which was interesting, but I didn't try it. Also, there was a nut butter machine. Beauty/Supplements: I wasn't looking for any supplements, but they have a large selection of different vitamins, probiotics, etc. I was a fan of their beauty selection. They have many of the brands that Whole Foods would carry (Mineral Fusion, Burt's Bees, Sibu). It is probably comparable in price, but they have many sales that make it more affordable. They also have $2 bar soaps that smell incredible and are natural. I love the Frankincense and Myrrh. Will I shop here in the future? Definitely. But will I do all of my grocery shopping here? No. I can't find everything that I need. Overall, I dig this place. If you are a big TJ's fan, you would like it here. read more

I went to the store with very high expectations expecting to find fresh vegetables and herbs that I couldn't find anywhere else. I first stopped at the deli. I waited at the deli for about two minutes and no one came to the counter there was a gentleman behind another counter cleaning something he seen me and didn't say anything. So after about an additional two minutes I asked him if anybody was working here he said yes just a minute. He called to another employee and continued not to come over. Another employee that was out on the floor came to the counter and asked if I was help yet I said no she went back to that same person I assume and said you have somebody waiting!! Again I waited two more minutes and no one came over. so I finally walked away. I expected that someone from the counter would've came over to me I was only about 20 feet away and apologize and proceed to get my order but that never happened either I also noticed the people behind the counter we're wearing headsets listening to music or talking on the phone. (that's what took the guy behind the deli counter so long to even respond to me). Not paying attention to the customers!!!! So I went over to the produce section thinking I would find a good variety, again I was disappointed said nothing unusual just a basic stuff it looks nice but Myers has a better selection than them and for them to be a specialty store I just expected more!! At this time I continue to get frustrated I was mainly looking for baby bok choy, rosemary and Watermelon radishes. So I decided to abandon my trip and try to go somewhere else!! Then I was kind of glad I did I noticed on the way out they only had one register open and there must've been at least eight people lined up all the way down the aisle. I love shopping here! Especially for their fresh meats. They have pork and chicken sausage which they make in-house and it is delicious! On a good week you can get their thick cut bacon at an awesome price! My suggestion would be to shop on Weds. They have double ads and most of their items are on sale! Their store brand items are great and their produce pricing isn't half bad! I have shopped at both their Troy and Rochester locations and both stores are clean and the employees are helpful! The only thing that would make it better is if they had a location on the way Eastside!! read more

I witnessed a customer being treated poorly today at register, and I will not be returning. Location was convenient, but treating people poorly is no way to handle customers and I don't want to support what I saw. There are other grocery stores and markets nearby that know how to treat people. After my review, I received a message from Melissa of the store. I called shortly after and was told there is no Melissa - never was one employed there. The people I spoke to on the phone had no interest to hear about my experience. With the newly opened Whole Food so close and their friendly people, I don't miss Fresh Thyme. read more

I have visited this store a handful of times and don't understand the hype. One positive is that employees are always nice and attentive, especially at the meat counter. I wish I could give this place 2 1/2 stars. The only reason I would give them the 1/2 is because the place was clean. They did not have a large selection of food. Their ground beef did not look fresh. They only had a few bags of grapes in which those grapes were tiny, smashed and soaked in its juice. They did not look appetizing. And their prices are ridiculously high. I left with 2 half empty bags of food and spent $40. I understand they sell organic food but I left Meijer with 10 full bags of food and spent $45. I love to eat healthy but I rather get a bang for my buck. And honestly the meat and grapes at Meijer looked better. I won't be back. read more

Not really impressed. There are some organic and non-GMO foods here but it seems like the majority of foods are just regular ol' items. The organic produce was hit or miss. It's like they're trying to be a Whole Foods but they miss the mark. Some things are priced less than WF but a majority are the same or more. A direct knock off of sprouts farmer market out west. Meats were fresh but a bit pricy. Service meat/seafood had nice variety for size of case. Produce offered were smaller sizes to get price break but both Kroger and Meier offer better selection with pricing similar to Meier. Wine selection nice as was specialty beer. Deli well priced but service levels lacking. Overall good experience. Will be interesting to see how the store does over time. read more

Nice store over all but the sandwich making could drastically improve. Waited a half hour plus to get 4 cold sandwich's made and they were pretty lackluster. Not worth the wait. The lady behind the counter had no idea what she was doing, seemed lost. There were multiple people behind the counter that could've helped speed up the process but they didn't help even though they didn't seem busy. Three of the menu sandwiches were extremely dry with no sauce and the wrap had nothing but way too much sauce and some chicken in it. I went to the grand opening and had a great time - how often can you say about about a grocery run? Very well organized for the insanity that comes with grand openings. It's more Trader Joe's than Whole Foods, but with a larger focus on local products. HUGE gluten free section, both in the bakery and items sprinkled across the store (helpful tabs indicating which items are gluten free on all the shelves so you can find what you need quickly!) Decent dairy free section as well. It's a massive store, so whatever your dietary needs are I imagine they have something for you.
