I first tried poke several years ago on the Venice boardwalk. I'm very picky about my raw fish, and wasn't a fan. Therefore I ordered the vegan dish from FreshFin (which was delicious in its own right), and only tried some bites of the spicy tuna. It was phenomenal, and I've ordered it multiple times since. Great customer service and the food is spectacular. I always joked that if you really want the greens and the most healthy food in your entire life, go to this place. I absolutely love this place. Although it has very limited seating, a lot people do order to go. Parking is relatively easy to find (go to the residential areas on the side of the building). Their bowls are amazing and I would go there everyday if I had the money. Each bowl does cost roughly 10+ with a fairly small 1 portion size. But the taste compensates for it. read more

This was my first time to FreshFin but not my first time having Poké. Honestly this place was amazing! I have been to a few different Poké spots in Chicago and out west, and this is the best I have ever had! We tried the Spicy Tuna, Curry Shrimp, and the Zen. Excellent, healthy food. Unpretentious interior, friendly staff, and great location. I popped in and was greeted warmly. The menu is simple, offering a nice selection. I appreciate them not trying to over complicate what should be a simple dish like poke. I enjoyed the spicy tuna. The fish was great, and the whole fish well balanced. Can't believe I forgot to do a review of this place. I was in Milwaukee on a business trip and searched Yelp for healthy options nearby. I had planned on one restaurant but somehow ended up at FreshFin Poke and boy am I glad I did! The owner was working the register and helped me through the ordering process. I am sure everything on that menu is fantastic. I got the mango tango and I still think about how good it was. I follow FreshFin on Instagram and every time I see a new photo update I start craving this again (which sucks since I live in Minneapolis). I've been trying to find a poke place as good as this in the Twin Cities and haven't had any success so far. Next time I'm in Milwaukee, this will be my first stop for food! read more

First off, just want to say how impressed I was with the customer service. When i ordered my food, the ticket was accidentally lost causing a longer than average wait (which is typically 6 or so minutes, super fast) Seeing that there was a mistake, the manager refunded my meal without blinking an eye or me asking, on top of that he then proceeded to give me a punch card all filled out, which was good for another compensated meal. I was so impressed and grateful. The staff is incredibly helpful. Next, the food. The meal i got was the Mango tango, which was salmon, mangoes, avocado and some other goodies. The dish was mega tasty, it had awesome flavors and textures. the ingredients were super fresh and it showed. The large was a good amount of food for me, but if you have a smaller appetite you can easily get a meal and a half out of it. All in all, I would highly suggest visiting to try something new with a modern atmosphere. read more

I loved this food! I was looking for a healthier, no-meat option last week at Fiserv Forum and the heavens lead me to FreshFin. It was the most tasty bowl of food that I've had in a long time. My first-time choice was the coconut curry shrimp bowl, and it was perfect. I visited my niece at her downtown Chicago workplace and had to find a Poke delivery place, and did (Aloha Poke)! I'm now in love !! I went to the FreshFin location on Milwaukee St. downtown this past Saturday where I decided to order the curry shrimp bowl again, and was less impressed this time. It was oversauced and less shrimp than my original bowl ordered at Fiserv -- bummer. However, I shall return this week and search out other poke restaurants in our city. read more

Seriously. THIS PLACE. I am so so happy this little piece of heaven has popped up in my neighborhood. It is fresh, healthy and perfect. And I love how they support other businesses in Milwaukee (Blooming Lotus bakery for example). The staff is always friendly and I really like how many options there are. I was helped by the owner, Nate the other evening and he went the extra mile for me and it was so appreciated - given that I was a little hangry! I seriously have started limiting myself to one visit a week as to not break the bank but I would go all the time if I could. Please, patronize this business! Poke bowls are sort of a foreign concept here in the Midwest, but if you like sushi, you'll love this place! Heck, even if you loathe sushi, get the chicken options. I am so glad to have FreshFin Poke in the neighborhood! I had driven by a few times, and finally got to give this place a try. It has a very trendy look on the inside, and a nice amount of seating to accommodate guests. The menu has a "build your own bowl" (BYOB) option where the sky is the limit, or you can order off their Signature Bowls. As a side note, you can still add extras to the preset bowl options of you'd like. Since this was my first time visiting I opted for a Signature Bowl. I ended up ordering the regular size spicy tuna without any additional toppings/add-ins. The food came out in about 10 minutes, and looked very appealing. The looks were not deceiving as the food was delicious! I thought the combination of ingredients went well together, and the tuna was extremely fresh. I really enjoyed the sriracha aioli sauce which complimented the tuna nicely. I was concerned that the regular size wouldn't be enough food, but after finishing my bowl I was quite satisfied. Furthermore, the people working at the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming. The man at the cash register took his time to explain how the menu worked, and didn't make me feel pressured while coming to a decision on my order. The person bringing out the food was also very polite, and came back around to collect our dishes when we were finished. Great experience and remarkable first impression. Absolutely love FreshFin! Fish is always fresh -- I love getting the salmon poke bowl. Spicy in the best way and so good. Have only tried with rice but I bet the salad mix is good too. A small is enough for 2 meals most of the time, so worth the price. read more

This place just got it right - has great bowl dishes with the perfect combination of ingredients. Everything is extremely fresh, from the the fish to the rice, and the sauces on their bowls are insanely good. I have tried almost every bowl combination on the menu and each one was just perfect. I personally would recommend the spicy Tuna, the fish is so fresh that it will melt in your mouth and the proportions of the ingredients in that dish are perfect. You can choose between a small bowl or a big bowl, I'd say that a small bowl is actually pretty filling. If you like healthy food and sushi in particular and still haven't tried this place, then this place is a must for you. read more

This place is an awesome, refreshing, innovative, delicious and very welcome addition to the neighborhood! I am ever so glad that I live so close by, as I wouldn't be able to frequent them otherwise. Seriously though, who can say no to a beautiful, healthy and filling bowl of utter deliciousness? I'm a big sushi and sashimi fan, so I'd been looking forward to the opening of FreshFin with great anticipation and excitement. However, my husband isn't as much an aficionado of raw fish as I am, and I was concerned that the concept of poke would fall apart without that specific protein element of which it was built around. I knew that they offered chicken and shrimp, but having only had traditional poke with raw fish, I wasn't sure that it would work out. I was worried that the non-"traditional" protein options would net a result akin to sushi rolls that have fried pork in them -- caters to a more diverse audience, but ultimately, in my opinion, falls rather flat in taste. Boy, was I glad to be wrong. Thus far, I've been hooked on the Mango Tango, but my husband's tried the Cilantro Chicken as well as a Build Your Own Bowl. The flavor never fell short, and each combination is exciting to the taste buds. I love the crunchy garlic and onion add-on options, they really lend an awesome textural diversity in addition to the rich flavor profile. So, long story short, no gripes about how good the food tastes. What I would like to see changing in the future of FreshFin is more environmental consciousness. I'm not heavily invested in these kinds of things, but I was a bit surprised that when dining in, we were given the same plastic bowls as would be used for take-out, as well as plastic cups. read more

After my previous review, the owner of FreshFin reached out to me and asked me to try their restaurant again (this time sans onion paper). When I returned there yesterday, more than just comping my new order, the owner also gave us my husband's order on the house. This time they hadn't run out of tuna, so my husband had the Spicy Tuna bowl and I did a BYOB. As excellent as their recipes are, I think I really enjoy the BYOB experience better. It was fun to be able to critique my own ingredient choices and think about what I'd do differently next time. Everything was wonderfully fresh and well-made, and the tuna was a lovely jewel red. The prices are extremely affordable for such fresh and delicious ingredients, and I will absolutely be returning here again and again for my poke-related needs (which are many and frequent). read more

It's nice to have another fast casual option to go to. I enjoyed my meal (Chicken Ginger dish) and I thought it was reasonably priced. If it's not clear elsewhere, we asked and the fish is raw. The ambiance feels a bit stark. Lots of concrete and the room has only one speaker in it, so you can hear music but the space doesn't feel "full." The meals come in plastic even when dining in. On the plus side, it makes it easy to convert the leftovers in to a take home dish. On the minus side, they don't have separate recycling there yet. The dishes ARE recyclable (#1 plastic) but the number is very tiny and hard to see so I thought I'd give you the tip here in case you are a super-dedicated recycler. read more
