Friar Tux has a better selection than the Men's Wearhouse across the street, as well as better prices and quality IMO. Also, Friar Tux's prices include tax! Helpful Staff: The associate, Jeff, helping me was extremely helpful, answered my hundred questions and gave me his honest opinion on things without being pushy. I liked the friendly vibe amongst the associates here, especially when I took too long deciding what to order and nobody rushed me out when I stayed 20 minutes past closing time. Imperfect Fit: But all wasn't perfect, as the nature of "inexpensive" tux rental places is that doing alterations for each person is time and cost-prohibitive. If you don't have a "normal" body type and aren't paying a grand at a specialty shop, expect the fit of the clothes to be "good enough". Since I have a small torso, the shirt was a few inches wide on me, but I had to live with it since they had nothing better. The shirt would be covered by the vest and the extra slack wasn't really noticeable, so it was an acceptable compromise. The pants, however, were a little wide even when the inside belt was pulled tight. The next size down was just a bit tight. Unfortunately again I fell in between two available sizes. Quick Fulfillment of Orders: The pants issue was actually discovered at pickup, two days before my wedding. Fortunately Friar Tux just needed a day to get the smaller size pants in. After that, everything was fine. Final Tips: When it's prom season, arrive before the start of the pickup period to beat the crowds. The first time I learned this the hard way and had to wait almost an hour to be helped. The second time I arrived 30 minutes before the start of the pickup period, and the store was almost empty. But when I left, a line was starting to form again. The early bird gets the tux, I think the saying goes. read more

What a great experience. My best friend is renewing her 30 year wedding vows later this month and all of the men in the wedding party had to go to any location of this establishment for measurements. I chose this one for location. I was greeted with a smile and Hardy hello immediately as I walked in. As soon as I told them the reason for my visit, they took care of us right away. Makela (sorry if spelling isn't correct) had the best customer service ever. She measured my son, brought out a tux and all the particulars, including shoes for him to try on. Went in here to get suited and booted for a wedding that I'm attending and taking part in. The customer service was great, fast, and efficient. I was there on a busy Saturday and was still in and out in about 20 minutes. They have a big selection of suits, tuxes, and dress shoes. They also have many locations all around So Cal that you can pick-up and drop-off at. I was also given a nice complement about my measurements. Always happy to get a complement. Everything was very nice in the beginning, Monday fitting. Return on Thursday for Try on and pick up. Pants were 3 inches short so come back Friday to pick up again. Now pants are to long. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. It all started from the beginning and I knew I should have left but I could not find another good looking green tux. When we went there originally to order the suit for the grooms and groomsmen we picked one specific tux my fiancé really loved. When we came back for a fitting a month or so later they told me that the tux is no longer for rent and only for purchase and would be a lot more money, and you wouldn't call and inform us that the suit was no longer available to rent and be charging up $1000+ more?? For a suit he is gonna wear ONE TIME?!? PLEASE! Customer service needs a big change. When I went back after being sized the jacket and under shirt were HUGE!!! I looked like I was SWIMMING in it!! You literally took my measurements a few weeks ago and it's this bad?!? Thankfully they got the new jacket and shirt two days later. When I go to final pickup and try in comes to find out they didn't order my vest! Which is included in the package I paid for and the lady aggressively told me that we did not pay for that and that was something not included when it clearly states on the form that we did indeed pay for it, well now we're only a couple days away from wedding and I'm not gonna end up with a vest that was paid for?!? Then when I was leaving the did not re hang up with pants correctly and gave me all my clothes very sloppily. I mean how much can one place mess up THAT BAD?!?!? Too easy. Came in looking to rent a tux for my 4 year old for my sisters wedding. We were in and out within 1/2 an hour. They simplified the process and streamlined it so quickly for us. They provided a tuxedo, shirt, shoes, suspenders, socks and a handkerchief for 105$!! The quality was amazing too. My experience with this place did not start out great and has been annoying. I made an appointment and turns out they let 5 other couples make an appointment for the same time. My fiancé and I ended up having to wait over 2 hours for our first appointment. We were looking for other places to go but everywhere else does not rent suits for some odd reason so we had no choice but to waste time waiting. The next time we came around we made our appointment again for my fiancé to try on his suit. They have a sign on their door saying appointments are REQUIRED. Imagine our surprise when we walk in and there is another man there and the lady asks "who doesn't have an appointment?" and the man raises his hand and she helps him during our appointment time. Super inconvenient. She tried to help my fiancé and him at the same time and we had to wait for 20-30 minutes while she was in the back and the guy was on FaceTime with someone. I am not even sure she was working so my fiancé and I just said screw it and paid for what we thought was best and left. Would have been nice if she handled us first and then the guy next as we had several questions and would have likely spent more money there if she cared to answer. Also had three different people call my fiancé and I and give us different pick up times for the groomsmen suits. One person said it HAS to be on a Monday after 4, the next person said my brother was getting his suit early but the others could not, the final person said we never came in for measurements (they had two accounts for us for some dumb reason). When I called myself to confirm the pick up date and if appointment is needed the man answered and had a very nasty attitude. He ended up hanging up on me abruptly after I finally got him to locate my account. Maybe they just don't care but I would think this business should be more considerate and have a better appointment system in place and not take those who don't have an appointment if they have a sign saying one is needed. read more

I called and found out they had a 50% off special on rentals. I just wanted a basic decent looking tux at a good price. They sounded nice enough on the phone and the prices seemed good so what the heck, I stopped by on my way home from work. There was a very nice woman who showed me some options and helped me pick out a style (basic black with a patterned vest and matching tie). The woman then took my measurements, pulled out some sample sizes and had me try them on so that she could get a more accurate fit. When we were happy with the pant styles (pleated vs flat front - I went with flat front) and jacket sizes, she tallied it up (only $62 after the discount!) and I paid and was out the door. That whole process took less than 20 minutes. She told me the tux would be ready for pickup in 3 days. When I went to pick it up, they checked everything out, asked if I wanted to try it on (I was in a hurry so I didn't) and I was out the door in less than 5 minutes. The tux was great! Fit perfectly (and I'm not a standard size - a little on the short and stout side) and it was a great looking tux. Materials were top notch. My friend got his tux from Men's Wearhouse and he said he felt like he got a cheesy prom-quality tux. He actually said, "I should have gone with you to Friar Tux." Plus, my friend had to return the tux the next day while I had an extra day to drop it off. Plus, I paid less!!! Fast service, great prices, great tuxes - can't go wrong! read more

You get one star out of Pity, so that I cant post my review. My brother had picked up my tux for me since I have a busy work schedule, only to find that the heel of the shoe was half off. Once I pulled the shoe out of the bag the heel just dangled, so who ever packed them knew they were garbage. SHITTY SERVICE !!! But I wore them for the wedding and the photos, then changes to my Stacy Adams for the reception which by the way have leather sole's. My husband and I came here for the wedding party tux rentals and I thought all of the guys looked very handsome, more so my husband! They have various colors, styles, and sizes. The staff is very helpful in person and over the phone. Also, if you register for bridal magazines you may come across a $50 discount for each rental (that's what we did and the guys each had $50 taken off the final price). Also, we had some guys from out of town or in different cities and they accommodated them by allowing them to get measured at different locations but still having the info on one account. I was a little hesitant about this at first but they are very organized. Also, they give a discount to the father and grandfather if they decide they want to rent a tux with the bridal party. We had such a great experience the first time coming to fit my fiancée for his wedding suit. Douglas had ordered several suits for him to try on and after much deliberation we set a date. A date that Douglas and us would be all available on. Fast forward 2 weeks to our appointment date and Douglas is not there. Nor did anyone call to tell us he wouldn't be there for the appointment he set up. We walk in a few minutes before our appointment time and they tell us to sign in. Then they ignored us for about 30 minutes, helping other people drop off, etc. Finally we locate the pieces Douglas had ordered and my fiancé tries them on. Another 20 minutes go by and they ask if everything is fitting. The staff was complaining about staying late as she "had things to do." Yet, we waisted 1 hour to drive there, 1 hour being ignored, and another hour to drive home. After being there for over a hour with very little to no help, we walked out. No one even questioned us or wanted to finalize anything. Off to the Thousand Oaks location where I've had way better experiences!! read more

Kelly at Friar Tux took such good care of us, and her attention to detail made me feel comfortable we were in good hands. I wish I could give this place negative stars. To start things off, I got married 11 days ago. I came to friars with all my Groomsmen including my Father in law and my father. We went to the redondo beach location at first for fittings. At that location everyone got fitted accept for me THE GROOM!!! If that's not eyebrow raising I went to this northridge location about 2 months out from my wedding. All I can say is the quality of these suits is despicable!!! Also the customer service is absolutely, unbelievably, and down right horrendous!! They want you to come in 2/3 days before to get your suit for starters. They don't do anything to customize or tailor it to you. I had 7 groomsmen and of the 7 - 4 had the wrong sizing and had to come back. I got the entirely wrong sized suit, my brother in law got the wrong vest and had to come back 3 times !!! Because the moron at the counter didn't order it like she said she would. When I tried on my suit it was all wrong the only thing that fit was the shirt. I had no bow tie no hanky and my pants looks like crap. Also the place was full of kids that were trying on suits for prom or something stupid like that. The employees didn't even acknowledge that we had been waiting for 45 mins until they brought out our suits after being told 10 mins ... unacceptable!! So I got upset once I saw the final product and forced them to refund my money and refund my brother in law for his vest. It was Thursday and my wedding was Saturday they told me they wouldn't have my stuff till Friday night so I pretty much flipped out. I told them I don't care and my suit better be here as soon as possible they had too much time to get it right and screwed up. When I came back later that night I once again had to deal with more crap because nobody does they're job. There was no suit!!!!! I then got into a verbal altercation with a tall Armenian kid who works there because he couldn't keep his mouth shut and didn't know how to speak to people with respect. He began clucking like a chicken when I was speaking to another employee so I told him to have some respect and mind his own business he had no clue how upset I was and then his response was "bro why are you so butthurt"? A comment only a uneducated disrespectful rude coward makes. (Not making any threats) I told him I hope you feel like a tough guy in here since you're working, but outside is a totally different story. He said I'm 17 bro. I hope his parents teach him better.
