HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND STILL ONGOING!!!!!! 1 of 3 pages. My friend used this location to outfit his groomsmen, bride's father, and officiant, (my role), for his wedding earlier this month, (April '23). To make this easier for anyone to read, I've listed the Pro's and Con's first and then explained each below that. PRO"S - Worker Josiah, was very helpful when trying to help correct mistakes on my fitting. - Employee Cindy, was also trying to be helpful in correcting the wrongs from the company CON"S - The first employee incorrectly measured suits of our sizing party - Had to make a third trip back for correct(?) tuxes - Missing pants - Missed aligned button/hole on shirt - Fragile buttons that popped off numerous shirts - Final suits not all correctly fitted - Missing pocket square - Other people's trash in suit pocket - Given different answers and excuses from different people - Told that "There is no Corporate number" when asked for a number - Sleeve on shirt being dirty before being worn - Told the Groom that it was "his fault for the miss sizing's and styles, and told the bride's father they would, "we will only refund his suit and not the others because it wasn't their fault." - Has a horrible "sign in" system - Apparently everyone is a manager there - When expressed issues at another store, was told to go back to the original store with no information. - Attempts to right their, (Friar Tux), wrongs mostly dealt with company satisfaction rather than the customer -- It started with our original fitting we had. First of all, the employee, when measuring us, only measured our neck sizes and chest size. He asked what size shirts we normally wear, (large or extra large), and pants sizes, (You look like a 36" waist?). We all gave our responses, but asked him if he needed to measure us to make sure and he "confidently" answered that "it was necessary, that he had it. He had the right measurements for the suits to fit." We all felt it odd that it only took 10/12 minutes to measure five guys?!?!?!? On top of that, none of us were given any pants or suits to even try on to again verify that the "employee's" measurements were correct. The sample pants and suits were right there but never used, even when asked by me and at least two other people in our group. And though he was polite when talking to us, he interacted with us more like a buddy at a party rather than a person fitting someone for a suit Come to find out that this employee was "new" as told to us by someone when we first voiced our issues. Their "excuse" insinuated that it was because the employee was new that there was issues. If that was the case, where was the manager or supervisor to make sure that everything was done correctly? Or where is the constant mentoring to make sure that the proper training has happened and is continuing to happen. Or even more, if they already "blamed" the employee, how can they keep trying to pass blame onto the groom's party?!?!?! (Explained below) -- So after the original fitting, one of the guy's suit still wasn't completely correct, and had to come back AGAIN. He was ready to make two trips, but not a third trip, which was an extra 84 miles!!!!! Coming from out of town, when he was there on the second fitting, he "told" the employee that since they already screwed up once, that the wedding was less that 12 hours after the third fitting, and that he was not going to drive out again if they screwed up again, that they would do right by making sure to bring the size they believe would be correct and the next size, just in case. Of course, they know better than us and didn't do that, AND, the pants they resized was still not correct, but no with no time left, he was forced to go with it. -- The Father's dad was collecting his resized suit. He went in and surprisingly it was about right. But, first, the employee who was helping him wasn't fully into helping him and so at one point, when the bride's father noticed that the employee hadn't been seen for about 10 minutes, trying to help finish up, he asked another employee and was told that the employee who was helping him, was on lunch?!?!?!? The guy didn't have the professional courtesy to tell him that he needed to go to lunch, let alone, he put his "lunch" as a priority over the customer who was dealing with a service issue. And then to add more insult to injury, since his suit was hanging up ready to be bagged, but the original employee was out for lunch, when the other employee bagged his suit, they forgot to bag his pants??? WTH?!?!? And of course, we didn't noticed that until 2 1/2 hours before the start of the wedding, but fortunately, there was a family member who drove 53 miles roundtrip to bring the pants to us. This goes in line with the above comment about training. read more

All I can say is WOW. I called in and was quickly acknowledged by Melody on the phone she was professional and extremely welcoming on the phone. I told her what I needed and came in a short while later to grab some tuxedo shoes for my kids. The second I walked into the story the feeling of a cheerful genuine welcome really goes a long way. She remember what I needed and quickly assisted me in getting my kids tuxedo shoes. My husband used this place for his groomsmen suit rentals. We had been shopping around for affordable rentals, and we wanted the groomsmen to have a non-jacket vest outfit, rather than a full suit with a jacket (summer wedding=hot). Most places are ridiculously priced, even without the jacket. Friar tux was the least expensive, and their suits looked great. Biggest Pros: Groomsmen could pick up their suit from different locations (one lived in Vista and it was nice he didn't have to drive out to OC for his fitting) Least expensive Very accommodating with looks, we were able to get the vest look we wanted with a merlot tie (other rental places did not have merlot colored ties) Great service, prompt and courteous; also very helpful at offering suggestions Suits ready on time! Biggest pro when it comes to weddings On top of everything, my husband was in search of an ivory self-tie bow-tie, and believe it or not, this was a difficult feat. We tried at least 6 other men's suit stores to no avail. But friar tux had it, and sold it to him for $14 Overall, definitely recommend using Friar Tux for any rental needs. read more

This Friar Tux location is just like every other location I've been to. It was a quick measurement an d off I went. Before the wedding I came in for a fitting. Everything was good, but they gave me a shoe with the sole flopping around. I told them and they replaced it right away. After the wedding I dropped off the tux and that's end of it. Note: You are able to place a deposit before you pick up the tux or could pay for the whole thing upfront. Either way it's quick and easy. read more

I came in just to check on a suit for rent for a company Christmas party. It s a 20s theme. I came in and it seemed like if they were waiting for me. The attendants split up and one came to me to help. He showed me different pics on line and the different suits they had. The guy convinced me to try on a couple of things. By the time I was done he had me put on a whole suit. He also took all my measurements. He wasn't pushy and when I told I needed to confirm the color of my girlfriend's dress. He handed me all my measurements he wrote down and said here you go so when you are ready. Not pushy one bit. He was great and I am going to recommend him to everyone I know. We had to wait a little bit because there were a couple of people ahead of us, but that was ok, because it gave us a chance to look at the different options. We finally were helped by Xochitl ... she was awesome! She new exactly what tuxes we needed to look at (my son is pretty big so sizing him can be tough!). Don't waste your time. Go to men's warehouse. My husband was told the dads of the court would get a free suit for Homecoming at this location by the High School and that didn't happen so we paid the $150 to rent it for tonight's game. I go to pick it up on my lunch break and you have to check in, ok cool it's Covid I get that. But you can't just pick up your paid for suit and leave. No no you have to wait while they call every person ahead of you. For me that was 5 guys getting refitted for their suits because their measurements were wrong. Where is the logic in that?!? It look me 3 mins to check out and I'm waiting 15-20 mins for these guys to be measured and checked out. Huh? Finally one of the guys told the rude lady behind the register to help me. Bless him. Now I get the suit home for my husband who doesn't get off work til 6 (when they close) and the pants are too short. Shocking since the guys before me were being remeasured. Oh man, where do I start? I rented 6 tuxs for my wedding. 1 worked out...that's it. SOME issues were that only 1 fit during the try on, and it's not like they barely fit. Mine was maybe 5 sizes too small. They order me skinny pants. They said I asked for skinny pants. I'm 6'2 300 pounds, why would I order skinny pants. The jacket was about 5 inches too short and the shirt maybe 6 inches too short. When I picked it up the 2nd time I still have skinny pants but it was 1 day before the wedding so I went with it. The groomsmen all needed to be re sized. Once we got to the wedding, we realized the brides father didn't have pants. Yeah, thanks for that. Then, one guys shirt, the shirt holes didn't line up. There were dirty napkins in one pants pocket and one guy was missing the matching pocket square. You want to talk about stress before the wedding. Thank God someone was able to run and get pants for the brides father. But they turned out 2 sizes too small and it took 3 of us to get him in the pants. Going to this store added so much unneeded stress. This was seriously only like 1/3 of the issues. I really could go on and on. Stay away! read more

My friends whole wedding party was not measured right just neck and arm. They are big stalky guys and put in a slim fit rental and to top it off they tried to make my friend the groom feel like it was all his fault for the whole situation. When it was a new guy doing the measurements and inputting the information who was a manager that's supposedly not working there now and they have new ones. They had to reorder all the wedding party's rentals which still weren't great. The father of bride picked up his rental and the person who was helping him disappeared and then the person that finally helped him forgot to put his pants back in bag so day of wedding someone had to get them and they still didn't fit. So too many blaming on the customer and not the employees and trying to push the groom off like it's no big deal. I've worked in tux rental and never had this many problems. During getting ready there was buttons popping off so they had to make due because wedding was starting. Also they weren't cleaned or checked before rented out found stuff in pockets. My fiance called Monday to confirm the pickup of the tie and pocket square rentals for himself and the groomsmen in our wedding taking place this weekend. When he called Friar Tux confirmed that all 7 ties and pocket squares would be ready for pick up in Orange on Wednesday. When he arrived they only had 3 of the 7 on hand and they told him that he would have to drive to three additional locations to get 4 ties/pocket squares as no other locations had 4 total. So now the night before we leave for our wedding we will be driving all around Orange County to pick up these rentals and Friar Tux has not provided any kind of discount for the time and gas expended as a result of their error. We have had these ordered since 2019 so it is completely unreasonable that these were not available on the pickup date, especially since he called ahead to confirm. If you are stressed planning a wedding you don't want to work with an unreliable company like Friar Tux. read more

We had a quick and smooth transaction with a side of amazing costumer service at this Friar Tux! My 4 year old was tasked with being a ring barer in my sister's wedding and as such needed proper attire. I didn't want to buy some cheesy kid suit and have him look bad, so I found out that Friar Tux can suit up a toddler and went for it. The staff was super friendly with my son and even let my 2 year old daughter try on some shiny shoes during his fitting (she MUST do everything her big brother does). My husband went ahead and decided to rent a tux too since it became apparent our 4 year old would need a little support out there (turns out he didn't, but oh well). The kid's tux vest was a little dopey, it didn't have a proper back, just a halter top and waist strap, so I was a bit disappointed by that, also my husbands tux was supposed to come with a bow tie but we got a long black tie instead, oh well, little things, so I deducted 1 star. With that in mind, I should have known better if I was expecting better quality in tuxedos. This doesn't parallel with their customer service--their service staff is quite helpful and very engaging. 1.5 stars for the tuxedos. 4.5 stars for the great staff. I have to give this place 5 stars because of the ultra superior service we received when we called them last minute for a photo booth. Did all of you know that they rent out photo booths for events like weddings and proms? Well, guess what? They do and if you're planning an event, a photo booth is a unique addition to any party! I called them in a tizzy because our other photo booth vendor backed out at the last minute. I remember how much fun we had at my best friend's wedding and decided to try to get them for my wedding. Not only were they so accommodating, but they gave us the tux rental discount. By the way, if you rent tuxs' at this shop, you get a crazy discount on the photo booth. And they don't skimp either. It ended up being about $500 LESS than any other photo booth company I checked out. They not only did an awesome job with the pictures and entertaining our guests, they gave us a REALLY nice photo album and had our guests put their pictures in the book and sign it. They brought all kinds of props, pens for signing the book and tons of decorations. After our wedding was over, they gave us the flash drive, our album AND gave us login info for the online gallery. We got so many compliments on our photo booth and it was just the extra touch that we needed to make our wedding unique. Thank you Friar! I'm always expecting really good service in a recession because you'd figure they be really trying to drum up business or make sure they keep their jobs in these tough times, but didn't really get the sense of urgency from the staff. Went in today (3/15/14) to select a suit for my fiancé and his groomsmen to wear to our wedding in July, 2014. Thinking it was appropriate we made an appointment for 1pm so we would get the attention that we needed seeing neither of us knew what we were in for. We walked in and we're not greeted with a hi or hello for a few minutes. Finally, once we were helped we were told the girl we were working with was going to be bouncing back and forth between us and another appointment. Fine, I guess we would have to deal. Our sales associate asked what color we were interested in and I said a gray suit for sure. They had 1 suit and 3 tuxes! The suit that we liked only came in slim fit. I couldn't believe it! Against my liking my fiancé tried on the slim it and it was horrible. The pants were WAY to big at the waist and too small at the ankles...the sales associates suggestion (oh, a different associate by now because the other one was too busy and left us alone for a good 10 minutes) suspenders! Wth?! Suspenders?! Who wears those anyone?! Anyways, we decided against using Friar Tux and went to Men's Warehouse right after we abruptly left the Friar Tux appointment and found his perfect suit! I would suggest if someone makes an appointment they have available staff to handle the appointments made, plus walk-ins, plus people picking up orders. Also, I would suggest making a wider range of fits in more colors. Not everyone wants black tuxes for their wedding. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a suit/tux in a color besides black. read more
