We used Friar Tux Shop for groomsmen rentals for our wedding. About 6 months before the wedding we chose red coats for the guys. We went in to the Vista location to pick new coats about a month before the wedding. We chose a black one (Coat 1017, which I referenced by number to make sure he input the right one) and I went over each item in the package with the employee who was helping us. When we left, the employee did not give my fiance a print out of the wedding party with styles. A couple days later one of the groomsmen sends a picture at his fitting. The coat was red. I asked him to send a picture of the receipt and the listed coat was Coat 6045 the Red Carter. I immediately call the Vista store and get hung up on twice before finally speaking to someone. He takes 20 minutes going over each item with me to make sure everything is correct (again). I didn't understand how each coats wasn't fixed when we went into the store. Three days before the wedding one of the groomsmen pick up his tux. IT'S RED! This time I decide not to go to Vista since I had nothing but TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES with them. I went to the Escondido location and got the coat switched the same day. They even altered the sleeve length to fit perfect. I WILL NEVER GO TO FRIAR TUX SHOP IN VISTA AGAIN! I will consider using different locations, but I'm pretty traumatized by their negligence. read more

Lifesavers. The staff at this Vista location was truly amazing. I was in an absolute crisis and the staff at this location came through in the clutch. My wife and I were attending a wedding in the Rancho Bernardo area, visiting from out of town. I rented a suit through Friar Tux online, it was a uniformed suit for all the groomsman (which was also a really good experience). The suit arrived at my house in a timely manner, it fit perfectly and looked sharp. Like a total bone head I forgot the suit at home and didn't realize it until we got to the airport. I called UPS and we had a family member ship the suit overnight to our hotel. However, UPS lost the suit. Straight up lost it. I called this Friar Tux location the morning of the wedding and explained the situation. Luckily they had everything in stock relatively close to my measurements. Upon arrival they greeted me right away, retrieved my information and measurements from their online database and assembled a new suit for me within about 15 minutes. They even hemmed the pants as needed. The first gentleman (didn't get his name, muscular dude, very handsome, well-kept beard) was super helpful. Olivia was the real life saver though, she was kind, quick, and super understanding of the whole experience. Thanks to the staff at Friar Tux at the Vista location, I was able to get back to the wedding venue just in time to participate in the ceremony and festivities, in appropriate attire. Big thanks! We are from out of town so my 2 sons didn't get to try on their suits until the night before the wedding when we got into town. (Suits ordered from the San Diego shop). Neither suits fit them right so we went straight to Friar Tux in Vista (closest to where we were staying) as soon as they opened on the day of the wedding. Angelina the manager made phone calls and drove all the way to the Anaheim warehouse and back to get a couple sizes of everything for my son to try on. She constantly updated us with her eta since the wedding was at 4 pm. She went above and beyond her job duty and we can't thank her enough. It it wasn't for her, my son wouldn't have been in his own brothers wedding and one of the bridesmaids would have had to be cut out. Again, thank you so much Angelina! You were truly a Godsend! After reading some poor reviews I decided to come anyways, any the reviews couldn't have been more wrong. I was promptly greeted and made welcome as soon as I entered the store. And while I argued on the phone about tie colors, the staff helped those behind me and quickly focused their attention back on me. I came with zero expectations hoping the staff would help guide me and Gabby did far more than just help, but truly made me feel welcome. She not only helped multiple guests simultaneously, but genuinely seemed committed to making me and my girlfriend leave with the precise color and overall look I never imagined until she brought it to fruition. She (Gabby) was a 10/10 on attitude, adaptability, and overall attitude. If i could give 0 stars i would i had a wedding i was going to be in and needed a tux i don't ever wear tuxes and just needed the rental so i go in get fitted and pick out the one i want and tell her color i needed witch was just all black very very simple no crazy colors nothing so i get the email to come in and try it on and not correct at all color was gray nothing was the right size so everything had to get changed then i get told by the girl that works there ok come Friday witch the wedding is next day at 11 and oh when u come just come in and pick it up no try on we are to busy with proms going on so i do that get home try everything on and pants are way to big and have no belt loops shirt is to small so pretty much i can't use anything except the coat and vest had to go and buy my own to wear early next morning when i came back in to drop everything off they could care less about my experience that i had to go through the most ridiculous place ever to deal with beware if u can go somewhere else do so they are terrible and worse off i email them talking about everything listed here and they give me the run around and say someone will contact me about money back nope didn't get that just revived in the mail a 50% off next rental complete bs stay way they say that they care about there customers nope they don't give a crap read more

Friar Tux is fantastic! I feel like specialty clothing stores should give you a good experience but rarely do. From start to finish everything was positive. My fiancé needed a suit for our wedding and after reading reviews decided to try Friar Tux Shop. We didn't have an appointment but luckily they were not very busy and were able to help us. They helped explain our options and made my fiancé feel comfortable in trying on and picking out the suit and accessories. The items that were not available right there at the store came in within a day of being ordered and they called to inform us right away. They also made it easy to pick out the suits for the groomsmen and get everything into the system so when the guys were ready all the had to do was basically show up and figure out their size. If we ever need another suit to buy or rent we will come back here without a doubt. read more

Originally had rented a suit for a wedding I had planned to attend to in March (postponed till next year) and decided to purchase a suit instead. Came to this location since I was in the area for work and was greeted by a very sweet and helpful lady in glasses (bummed I couldn't get her name). I believe she was new because a handsome gentleman was assisting her while she was helping me out (didn't get his name either D:). Had a amazing experience at Friars tux with Ryan. Prior to coming in I thought that I was going to have everything picked out for me for a shoot I have coming (not friars fault) up but that wasn't the case and I had to call the creative director and scramble last minute getting it all set up and Ryan was very very patient with me despite having to be there an hour and a half after they closed. Ryan knew everything he was talking about and did an outstanding job helping me out. He even picked one of the ties that the creative director said would be best for the shoot. I just had an amazing rental experience . I walked in today , in the rain , needing to rent two suits for my teenage sons. We were the only customers and that was perfect. We were given exceptional service by Cesar, the manager and his assistant Santiago. It was a very emotional time in the store due to the fact I am fighting a very rare cancer. My wedding was pushed up to Feb.16th due to my health. Seeing my boys dressed up , looking so dapper in a fitted suit melted my heart. what is the point of having an appointment if im still going to wait 30 minutes they need more staff

EDIT: They contacted me and refunded the initial amount I paid for the rented suit and the additional charge they added on for bringing it back late (which I held while trying to get made whole). Good customer service doing that, although it took a while to get to this point. And I can't redo my wedding, so there's no fixing that. But I raised my rating due to their customer service in the end. I needed to buy a suit for my wedding, and rent a suit for my stepson for the wedding. I got measured, picked a suit, paid for it, and I'd pick it up at a later date when it came in. My stepson got measured and tried on a rental suit and we rented it and took it with us right then. The day of the wedding comes and my stepson put on the suit and they put in shorts instead of the pants he tried on that came with the suit. These were the only clothes he had (besides the shorts and t-shirt he wore from home) so he had to wear the suit and shorts and dress shoes. He looked ridiculous. It cost $200 just to rent the used suit, and now Friar Tux isn't getting back to me for the refund I requested. Terrible customer service, terrible service in mixing up the clothes, and way too high of a price for a rented used suit. I assumed the high price meant I'd be getting top of the line service, but I was very wrong! read more

We chose Friar Tux for our wedding and during our first consultation, the employee told us that we were to receive two free suits with the order - one was for me (groom) the other we decided to use for my wife's grandfather since he is coming from out of state. When I picked up the suit, I was charged for the grandfather's suit (which was supposed to be free). When I mentioned this to the employee, they said only one suit was free (contrary to what the employee I initially met with told me). We would not have even gotten my wife's grandfather a suit if it wasn't free. I was told by the employee he would look into it and call me back (it was very busy due to prom) but I never received a call back. Also, out of the 10 suits we rented, half of them had to have an item exchanged either due to not fitting correctly or stains (a problem that I also dealt with during my sisters wedding a few months prior). This resulted in my father having to drive approx 100 miles round trip to exchange his, groomsmen exchanging their suits a few days prior to wedding, and me having to exchange two suits on the morning of my wedding. I would not trust Friar Tux is providing quality and accurate products for any future events - ESPECIALLY A WEDDING! read more

Planning and getting ready for a wedding is already stressful enough but Cesar definitely made sure that myself and my groomsmen were well taken care of. Being stationed in Fl, I had two in person opportunities to make sure everything was squared away. I was initially working with a previous manager and come to find out, things didn't go as planned. Days before the wedding I went in with one of my groomsmen to get fitted and realized that their vests, bowties, and add-ons were all the wrong color even though I had confirmed on the phone, in the system, and on receipts with the previous manager that everything was good to go. With most of my groomsmen already with the incorrect fitting, Cesar took the initiative to quickly place the order and fix the situation 2 days before the wedding. (We had previously visited Macy's and Men's Warehouse and had mediocre experiences with their staff). Not only was he friendly and kind, but he was great at his job! Came here to pick out groomsmen suits for our wedding next month. We knew we would be coming in so I called ahead to see what we should bring and to make an appointment. I was told we didn't need an appointment and to "just come on in". We came in with the grooms suit and the groomsmen suit color we were hoping to match and no joke stood at the counter for over 15 minutes just waiting to be helped. There were two very young men working, which took quite a while to help us and then were very unclear about when their appointment times would be and if there were any available anyways. We decided to leave as they clearly WERE busy and we didn't want to waste our Saturday in the shop when we were told we didn't even need a appointment. Very disappointed and concerned where we can rent suits for our groomsmen in a location that offers decent customer service. read more

Friar's Tux corporate office contacted me to get feedback regarding my experience. I told them exactly what had happened. The Vista store manager, Crystal, who as I mentioned in my original review was extremely helpful and kind throughout the entire process called ma as soon as she came back form vacation and took care of the issue. She issued me a full refund and sent me a certificate for a free rental. She also informed me that since the incident, Friar Tux Shop has discontinued the model of shoe that came with my rental. We have been going here for about 4 or 5 years for tux rentals for the Mr.'s Christmas party's Every year everyone is patient, helpful and friendly as his party's usually have a theme from James Bond to Old Hollywood. They direct us to the right look for the theme. I have to say they are really friendly! Even when I returned the tux the lady who had made sure that everything fit him cared enough to ask how the party was- Kudos to them! Nice people! I kind of think the other reviewer may have been on high alert since it was such an important event for her. My experiences over the years have been great and I recommend other yelpers to use them and when you are there ask what discounts are available. The Mr's company discount was less than the discount that they had available and she gave us the higher discount. read more

The women who work at this location are RUDE. The store is under staffed. We waited over an hour and a half to get a final fitting for the groom and groomsmen. The tuxes that were sent weren't even CLOSE to being what they were measured for. The night we were there the line was out the door. The two women working there were more concerned with flirting with some groomsmen than getting the job done. Give me a break ladies! One of their customers said "Just give me my suit. I don't want a final fitting I've been waiting 2 hours and you keep skipping over me." I was near the back room and I could hear them talking shit about him and some of the other customers ad they grabbed his order. I am getting married next year and I had planned on going to Friar tux. After this I will be going to Men's Warehouse instead. read more
