If this is the best pizza place in Holland, then woe is Holland. The pizza is 3 star pizza at best, very thin crusted, very greasy. There are only 5 toppings, which include bottom-of-the-line canned mushrooms. The only food item they serve is 12" personal pizzas, fyi. Besides the pizza, the service was hilariously bad. A crotchety hostess occupies the cash register, and doles out zingers to the waiting, exasperated guests, while nibbling on a piece of pizza intermittently. It feels like a hidden camera show setup. There is nothing charming about this kind of service, especially when the food is so mediocre. They are cash only, and there's an ATM near the cash register. There's a lot of parking out back. read more

Yikes! Where to even start?? Busy busy busy, yet they have no menus, and only one item -- a thinner crust pizza, with 5 topping options. Pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, mushroom, and anchovies. You'd expect them to have this thing running like a machine, expediting the process to pump these things out. Nope. Seems like It should be a quick bite. Nope. Plan on hanging out for well over an hour, waiting for your one menu item. Lots of awkward looking around... I really don't think we'll be back. The pizza is okay, I guess. Reminds me more of a Greek gyro flatbread, in a way. I think, just save your time and cash. Little Caesar's is better than this, and you'd get 3x more food for the price. With some of the new restaurants and breweries in town, there's just better options. Also, you can't pay with card. They have an ATM in the restaurant, my guess is to save the cost of credit fees. I hope Fricano's makes a good move here, and audits their restaurant top to bottom and begins to turn over a new leaf and re-launch with a much better experience. read more

Fricano's Too pizza is out of this world. Super thin crust and only six toppings but the flavor is incredible and cost is very reasonable (they only take cash but have an ATM in the lobby). I recommend everything but anchovies (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and cheese). All they sell is pizza and they make and bake them to perfection. They do get busy and you may have to wait but well worth the wait for a tasty pizza. They have been in Holland since the early 1980's and in Grand Haven since the early 1950's under the original owners of brothers Tom and Gus. Holland and Grand Haven Fricano's are the best, the other locations aren't as good at making pizza because they either use lower quality ingredients or don't quite have the recipe correct and do not sell as many as a result. Doug on Alpine is a real creep who cheats on his wife with waitress' who work there. read more

Fricano's serves the best pizza in West Michigan, hands down. I grew up on Fricano's pizza, and in some way my sub-conscious has compared every pizza I've eaten since, and none have measured up. That might be because of the nostalgia factor, but Fricano's is just simply delicious no-frills pizza. It's hard to say what makes Fricano's pizza so great. Every element just works perfectly together - the crispy crust, the simple tomato sauce, the cheese and toppings. That's it....don't come to Fricano's expecting to eat anything other than pizza, and even then don't expect some fancy or gimmicky specialty pizzas. Your topping choices are limited to five: pepperoni, mushroom, anchovies, green pepper and Italian sausage. I recommend the EBA: everything but the anchovies. Also, don't expect anything remotely healthy. Your toppings would be swimming in a pile of grease - as they should be. Now after writing this review my mouth is salivating and I'm planning my next trip to my home town, simply to get some of this pizza. Nothing compares. read more

I've going to Fricano's for the last 40 years & I love their pizza. However, the last couple times coming to the Holland Fricano's I've noticed a decline in service & quality. We ordered four 'everything but' on this occasion & they were very skimpy on the meat & heavy on the mushroom & green peppers. One of the pizza's they forgot the sausage entirely & two of the pizza's had all of the toppings piled in the center. Our waitress first said this is how their supposed to be but when we objected she admitted there being many complaints about the quality. We asked to talk to the manager & voice our concern & the manager refused to come out. We were very nice & polite & just wanted to share that this is not the way it should be. I hope that the management & owners will be able to get things back in order so that there will once again be long lines of people waiting for their usually awesome pizza. But until that happens I will just go to the original in Grand Haven. read more

I love this place; it brings back memories of family gatherings back as long as I can remember. As a kid in the early '70s, Grandma's birthday was always spent at the Grand Haven location. Since I moved to Florida over 20 years ago, Fricanos Too is always my first meal after landing at GRR. Friday night about 7, we waited about 25 minutes for a table for 6. Quick and pleasant service. Happy to make a pie with different halves. I always have pepperoni, sausage, mushroom with light anchovies. I could eat a whole one but I resist so I have leftovers for breakfast. Most important thing to know about this pizza: if you suffer from "Fricanos Regret", avoid the green peppers. Those little suckers will have you running for the Zantac. Also, they will not, under any circumstances, bring Parmesan. It's already baked into the pie. Don't ask. Prices have crept up recently $9 to $11 depending on toppings. They are offering better beers and wines now. Other than that, this place hasn't changed since it opened. Same brown Formica bar and tables, same weird towel roll in the bathroom. Same No Credit Cards policy. But when I can feed my whole family a table full of memories for $50, it's worth the cash. read more

This place is so wonderfully cooky, I consider it a staple anytime we are in the area. I won't lie. The first time we walked in we were a little bit like 'what the eff?!' Paper plates. Plastic silverware. Five toppings for the single item on the menu. Then we tried the one item on the menu and sang a different tune. What a surprise! The crust is thin, cheese is greasy and the toppings.. Well.. They are greasy too. You have a choice of green pepper, mushroom, anchovies, greasy pepperoni and sausage. It turns out that greasy, canned mushrooms go great with green peppers on this wickedly awesome pizza. I am highly allrgic to anything canned, mushrooms usually sending me in near-anaphylactic shock, but Fricanos makes it work. Work that pizza, Fricanos! I have asked each time for my pizza to be well done and each time it has come out undercooked. The pizza is extremely greasy and it made me feel quite quesy after eating. A West Michigan staple!! Super great ultra thin crust pizza which, as far as I know, is totally unique to the area. The take it or leave it style of restaurant doesn't usually succeed in this area. Wow!!! What an awesome place! I always try locally owned places while traveling. The simplicity of only serving pizza with only 5 topping and no big menu is fantastic! The staff was extremely friendly from start to finish even if they were t assigned to our section. I love thin crust and crispy edges and this was certainly the BEST I've EVER had!! This place in Holland is a hole in the wall which they haven't updated since I don't know when. They serve their pizza on paper plates and you get extra napkins because the pizza certainly is greasy. It's a thin crust pizza which is good if you like thin crust, but they only offer 5 ingredients for your pizza. They don't offer anything else in the entire restaurant except drinks, no salads, nothing so be prepared if you go there. I asked if they had Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on the pizza and was told its already on there so no Parmesan. I don't know what all the fuss is about this place because to me it's a barebones pizza joint that isn't willing to go the extra step make their customers happy read more

Visited the location today with my wife and I and two younger, well-behaved children. Before entering, a sign on the door greeted us that they did not take credit cards, hmm. Next, we walked into the completely empty building to be greeted by someone who didn't smile but pointed to another room, "have a seat anywhere over there". Okay, I thought - willing to give more and more chances for customer satisfaction. The booths were small and the tables even smaller and we planned on ordering at least two different pizzas. Common sense dictates the need for a bigger seating area so we started to sit in the large round booth (one of two both empty). The same lady who said, "have a seat anywhere" scurried over and waving a towel said, "are there only four of you", yes why. Then please sit here or here, pointing to both a table and a booth which are clearly too small for two people to have two pizzas much less four. Did I say that the place was completely empty? Now we are not Dutch but we are from Holland so I am not sure what was going on, but it was enough for us to leave and eat somewhere else. Frankly, the decor was so old and so dated it was a bit nauseating anyway. They need to spend some money on at least bringing the place into the 80's decor (at least) and with regards to the staff, they are lucky I had to click a single star. This place is very strange to us. We went there last night and found that they offer only pizza, and I mean only pizza... No garlic bread, no spaghetti etc. The pizza was OK but the only, and I mean only toppings were sausage, pepperoni, green peppers and mushrooms. What pizza does not offer onions? At the next table someone asked for Parmesan cheese and the waitress said they don't have Parmesan cheese. We just laughed at how rigid they are. Terrible customer service. No menu, no sign stating toppings on pizzas, no prices. Waitress messed up our tab and when we tried to explain this to the register, she couldn't do the math to figure out how to remove the extra charges from our order. In the end we overpaid and way over tipped. As for food, we waited upwards of 45 minutes to get our pizza and what we got was a thin crust (as promised), slimy, burnt-edged yet still undercooked pizza. I moved to California last year and still cannot find a pizza that I enjoy more than a Fricano's pizza. There is such a family feel at this restaurant and they do it their way! They don't feel the need to be a regular restaurant (i.e. they don't use credit cards, and they only use paper plates), but it adds to the character of the joint! This place was completely unexpected. The big, dark, door is a bit ominous and the street facade lacks windows adding to the "unique" exterior but when we opened the door the place was hoppin'. I loved the idea of a successful business with so few options. How Do they make this work? The thin crust was great, I had pepperoni and Italian sausage, Chris had Pepperoni and mushroom. One 12" pie is enough for one person. I especially liked the herb blend they liberally put on top of the cheese. Oregano, basil and something else...something unusual... maybe Thyme? The "cash only" was a little annoying. The only downside to our experience was our waitress. She wasn't attentive, was very slow, and we waited more than ten minutes for our bill while she socialized with other patrons. A bit frustrating...Great niche product, unfortunate experience with the staff. read more

We have never been disappointed! Fricano's has become a family tradition for us. It is a very distinct pizza & we love it that way.

I'm a south side Chicago thin-crust pizza snob, and I have to say this was some awesome pizza! It's unbelievably thin, so order a few of them. My wife and I got one to share, and we both could have used more. Don't worry too much about the huge crowd waiting for a table. But if you like flavor, a choice of more than five toppings and being able to pay with debt or credit you'll have plenty of options instead of this place. The pizza lacked any flavor. This review is solely on the service of Fricano's Too, NOT the pizza. I love Fricano's pizza, been eating it my whole life and I make sure to visit every time I'm back in West Michigan. We visited on a Wednesday evening in early July, 2014. There were 3 adults and 4 kids (aged 1-8) in our party. We were promptly seated, so I thought that was a good sign. That's where things went downhill. I get the institutional value of this place, as even on a Wednesday evening, it was filled up. We ordered our pizzas and our drinks. The drinks took a minimum of 15 minutes to come to our table after ordering. I saw the waitress spend a lot of time mingling with people (she presumably was acquainted with) at another table. We ordered 4 pizzas. They took about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to our table. Having worked at a Domino's in my younger days, I know a pizza takes 7.5 minutes to bake. OK, we ordered ours well done, let's add 10 minutes for that fact. Add another 15 minutes to get in queue due to the busyness factor. That's still less than 45 minutes! Why, oh, why would the pizza take over an hour to arrive at our table?!! To further add to my frustration, while waiting, I'd at least like the beer to keep flowing! She never brought another beer until very close to the time our pizza got to our table. Next complaint: It's 2014 and they still won't take my Debit Card (or credit card). They have an ATM on site, but I'm a cheap Dutch man and refuse to pay the service charge. They won't take my check because I'm from out of state. (even though I used to be local) I really can't believe more people don't have this complaint. This has been the status quo every time we visited in the last 10 years. This is some unique pizza located in Holland ( original is in Grand Haven)! They only offer 5 toppings on their thin crust pizza's. The sauce and the cheese is one of a kind. The pizza is quite greasy, but still manages not to disappoint, the restaurant atmosphere is nothing special, the waitstaff is nice, but due to this place being packed almost every night, it can take a while to get your seat and a while to get your food. We usually order ahead and take it home! Bring cash , they don't take credit or debit cards. read more

The most disgusting crap I've ever been served. My husband, who can eat almost anything, said he needed a Brillo pad to clean his palate after one bite. If that isn't enough to turn your stomach, you can head to the bathroom where there isn't a way to dry your hands except for an old rolling cloth towel dryer that hasn't be washed since they opened in 1950. Incredibly flat pizza, almost like it's on a tortilla. Just the right amount of cheese and sauce and very flavorful! The pizzas come in one size, which is perfect for one hungry person. The place has a comfortable neighborhood bar feel and the service is pretty good. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area and a fan of thin crust.
