Came here for lunch on a weekend and surprisingly, it was empty. The staff were still attentive and friendly which we truly appreciate. They have a pretty good size menu at mid-range prices. We came here for margaritas (that were made strong@ 5/5) and we all have different dishes. I ordered the posole which is very good. My pictures didn't show that there is a lot of meat, hominy and such in the soup. It came out hot and it hit the spot. My bestie got the fajita plate and it came out on a sizzling platter with steak and shrimp. The ambiance is casual but nice to bring both your friends and your family. I had the combination plate with 1 crispy taco, 1 soft taco, and 1 enchilada. You have the choice of chicken, beef, pork, or potato filling. I chose chicken for all 3, and all were good but not exceptional. I requested black beans instead of refried and it wasn't a problem. My partner had the shrimp burrito which consisted mostly of peppers and onions, and was unsatisfying. Picked a random reservation for the closest Mexican spot to our hotel & what a find! Everything was great from the margarita to the tortilla soup, the burrito lasted me 2 meals and my friend loved his tostada salad. Nice wrap up to the meal with some churros to share! What happened to Frida Mexican on Bev Dr? Been coming here for over 10 years and tonight had the worst experience by server Rafael. I've been ordering from the kids menu here for over 6 years--and tonight Rafael refused to allow me to and insisted it's for kids only. There is no age limit on their kids menu (photo is below) and again-NEVER had this issue before. When I explained why I order from the kids menu-asked for an allowance to order-he still refused in a rude manner. Also-the chips were stale and bland and ordered the chicken taquitos-first brought me potatoe taquito and then had to wait for the chicken ones while my party ate their meals. It was just good, NOT the best! I've been coming back to this place for over a decade. The prices were a little high, but considering the location in Beverly Hills, the food could be better. I tried their Strawberry Margarita and it was very bland and tasteless, in my opinion. Their grilled fish tacos were excellent. And their churros totally delivered, and it didn't disappoint. Had a wonderful time at Fridas taking my mom for a bday treat after she flew in from the east coast. I've been visiting this location on S. Beverly Dr. for years, and the bartenders are phenomenal - Miss the bartender ALEX!! Come back!...but all the bartenders they really care about their craft. The guac and chips with salsa are simply amazing! Food is top notch. If you haven't tried it yet, the best drink in California is the Frida and Diego with Mezcal. I always order a double, and it never disappoints! Manager Ricardo is gracious and truly cares about this restaurant. However, I've noticed some changes: it seems they're under new ownership, and the beautiful blue paint has been replaced. The new interior feels a bit too bland and lacks the energy that Fridas is known for. I hope the new owners will restore the vibrant essence and atmosphere with more lively colors. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in LA, and we certainly don't need another Kardashian-style neutral space. They made the atmosphere of that restaurant-SOULLESS! Like a cafeteria!!' I'm going to go backwards on this review, and start with the dessert. That 'pastel de tres leches' was fanTASTIC. I can't believe that after all these years, I had dessert for the first time last Sunday. If you've wanted something to look forward to in a meal, make it this delish cake of pure dessert-porn. It's the only sin I'm openly willing to commit on a Sunday. My family's go-to's on the Frida menu are the beef quesadillas, shrimp tacos, chicken enchiladas trios (I love that you get 3 different sauces), and the pescado a la talla (probably my favorite Mexican fish dish ever). The quesadillas can come out very greasy/oily, so do yourself a favor and ask for reduced oil when ordering this. We're pretty square as a family, so once we like something, we'll stick with what we know since we only make it here once a month. Despite its beautiful storefront in Beverly Hills, and a seemingly "premium" experience, this place really did not impress me. We were seated quickly, and service was nice enough did not seem to care all that much about our experience. We ordered enchiladas, which was a large dish but also largely disappointed my cravings. None of the sauces were to my taste except the chile verde, and the tortilla was both thick and dry. The chicken was great and abundant! I would say if you're looking for rich in flavor and not basic sauces, not to order this and try something else! Bless the owners of this long time location - I've been coming here maybe 12-15 years. There are very few neighborhood restaurants or bars left in Beverly Hills. Sadly, many new restaurants open and close within 6-12 months as it's very competitive and the retail tenant rents are astronomical. This one fits the local vibe in so many ways. Most of what's left in the city are enormously upscale restaurants or the typical national chains, most which require an enormous wallet to match. Prices here are VERY reasonable, five of us got out at $40 per person for dinner, each of us having one drink - take note the Margaritas are fantastic! It's extremely cozy, they have a small bar and nice outdoor seating for people watching along South Beverly Drive. You can't go wrong with Fajitas and make sure you try the table side fresh made Guacamole en Molcajete. My favorite dishes are the Chicken Mole Poblano and the Campechano Burrito. Open for lunch and dinner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I guess the have a Sunday Mariachi Brunch but I've never tried breakfast. Skip the chains and try Frida. They also have a Cantina one block north of Wilshire but that's an entirely different experience. read more

Came here on a business trip, and the group I was with wanted to go to Frida. I ordered the mixed fajitas with steak and shrimp. It was pretty good. I had asked for them to put additional jalapenos into the mix, and they forgot. Only gave three tortillas with the fajitas. Drinks weren't bad. I ordered a Paloma (well, a few Palomas) Overall, i'm the type who prefers a mexican food truck over a sit down type of place so I can be a bit critical. The Maracuya was an all around good cocktail with the smoky mezcal. I asked for it a little spicy and they added some jalapeños for me. The Watermelon Mojito was like summer. Very juicy, sweet, and bright! For food, they are known for their guacamole so definitely went with that. It came with a citrusy green salsa and a smokey hot red. Pretty good and great for sharing. Really fresh guac that is light and airy being a good mix between chunky and smooth. I also got their Mole Poblano. Super delish and highly recommended! The mole was sweet and deep with smoky notes. It was served over some shredded chicken that was cooked percectly! It came with some rice, plantains, and tortillas to build a taco. Really good mix of carbs! Our server, Yolanda, was attentive, efficient, and kind. The atmosphere was darling. The food here was good. My lunch companions each ordered burritos, both were large and came with garnish, beans, and rice on the side. I went with a salmon salad. It was probably one of the best salmon salads I've ever had. The dressing complimented the salad so well, the salmon was prepared to perfection, and almost had a little bit of caramelized sweetness to compliment the salad. He insisted the California Burrito came only with Beef and 'No' , no chicken. When he finally agreed to check, chicken was an option. But Guess What...??? When the order came, another screw up... 'No, no...It's chicken...' It was Beef, which had to be sent back. Order of guacamole was overpriced at $20.00 accompanied with a small basket of chips. The guacamole was good, but NOT worth $20.00. Also, none of our $26.00 Entrees included guacamole on the side... a clear ploy to manipulate us to order the $20 guacamole. Our Bill was $118.00 for 3 Entress Guacamole And 2 Cokes...; That is $40 per person, not including Tip. Furniture was worn and cheap... Should be donated to Goodwill... But even Goodwill wouldn't accept it. Go Anywhere else to spend your time And Money for a lovely shared Dining Experience. This place will be CLOSED in less than 6 months... First time at Frida and The customer service to the flavor of the food was great! To enjoy the fresh breeze and sun we sat outside. The selection of food and drinks is extensive. For our first time being there we chose the Frida Molcajete. Its enough for two people of you eat enough chips and salsa. It comes with a side serving of rice and beans. Compared to other places I must say the portion is small. The seasoning is good though. Comes with strips of grilled chicken, meat, cheese, slices of avocado, strips of cactus (I think it has another name but I can't remember it for the life of me... lol), also a side of tortillas. It took about 20-30 mins for it to be served though. I felt it was a little slow but probably because we were really hungry. Price $40 Also, we got the avocado Molcajete. I highly recommend it. Price $17 They're open for indoor and outdoor dining. Finally! After so many months we can enjoy that dine-in experience.
