We walked in and had to ask if they were open as we weren't immediately greeted. We got to choose our seats and tried to find the coolest spot because it was hot inside! According to the server--their ac was broken. It reminded us of traveling to Mexico and eating at the restaurants there . The decor is very similar and authentic to restaurants in Mexico. They even had lots of the candies found there surrounding their register area. The server was super friendly and attentive once we were seated, I just wish she would've written down our order instead of trying to take it all by memory as she got some things wrong with our order. Now onto the food. Mexican food in Hawaii is nothing to write home about. This was no exception. Our family of 4 ordered: the California Burrito, the super burrito (I actually ordered the chimichanga but it came out as a burrito), Birria tacos, Birria quesadilla, a bean and cheese burrito (the hubby's favorite thing to order at a Mexican restaurant) and because it was taco Tuesday--the carne asada street tacos (which I think the server forgot because we had to remind her) and the flan for dessert. The burritos were of good size and nicely filled. I enjoyed the super burrito but it needed the red sauce that was put on the table. The shrimp inside was very flavorful. My daughter loved her California burrito (it has French fries in it--lol). The birria was delicious--the consommé was pretty bland though. The bean and cheese burrito was cold in the middle and not as generously sized as the other burritos. The best thing that we had was the flan. I love flan and the texture of theirs was amazing. The sauce was a mixed review with the family. I liked it and the fact that there was a lot of it. There was a slight fridge taste but it was still delicious. My husband tried to make a suggestion about moving the large truck that was in front of the restaurant blocking the breeze from coming (remember the broken AC...and this is a hot August afternoon) but upon telling our server he felt dismissed. He was told that the AC was broken and supposedly to be fixed soon, but she didn't acknowledge his suggestion to move the vehicle to let some air in--it's disappointing that when a customer that takes the time to provide genuine feedback to be left feeling dismissed instead of appreciation for the feedback. I feel bad for whomever may have dined after us as it was mighty warm in there...

I happened to be in the Waipio area, a rarity for me, and decided to see what might be worth taking back home. I had never heard of Acapulco but was in the mood for Mexican grinds and when yelpers Fran and Gail reviews popped up, I knew this was one to try. They have indoor and outdoor dining options. Both spaces are very clean. I ordered two plates to go. Both plates came with rice and beans which were delicious. The gave a nice quantity of food. My meal of choice was the combo chili relleno and a beef enchilada with the red sauce. Both were delicious and did not get drowned out by the sauce and cheese. Excellent balance and taste. With gas prices being what they are, coming here is only going to happen when I'm in the area. But the delicious taste will make me think hard for any excuse to get to Acapulco restaurant when I'm in the mood for Mexican grub.

There is inside inside AC eating room with counter and sitting stools. The other choice would be outside sittings on a nice day. Ordered the three street tacos combo wich includes rice, beans and a medium drink. Wet burrito which does not include beans, rice and a drink. Pro: price right and filling. One of few places that serves ground beef that my eating partner likes. Con: It run like a takeout place with indoor dinning sitting. Would I go back. I would but not my partner. It's not bad for a fast food place. Not sure if the sit in restaurant would be better or not.

A hearty eater would probably need four or five. Both wrapped together in foil. In fact, so small, that I told the guy at the window that I ordered two. Then he told me they're both wrapped together. He gave me both sauces - chili and green. The person I bought one of the tacos for didn't want hers after showing it to her. I must say, the grounded beef had a dry taste and texture. I added the green sauce hoping it would liven up the tacos. The tortilla shell was very soft too. Topped with some cilantro and onions (chopped small to my liking). Overall, the tacos turned out like how I expected. NOT a "Wow" first impression. I gave this place a 4-star rating because I'd go back. I used to like beef tacos (before I discovered SOH's Birria Tacos). Service was pleasant and cordial. A few people had ordered before and after me. They're located in Pearl City Shopping Center where Long's Drugs is and on the left as you walk up to Ben Franklin. This place keeps busy mainly because of the location - lots of people walking around. Oh, my beef tacos was only $3.00 since it was "Taco Tuesday." I looked at my receipt and realized that.

It's only open on Tuesday and Saturday so that's one of the reason we didn't try it earlier. It's from 11am to 6pm. Sometimes I seen a line but today, Tuesday around 11am, there was no line. My husband had quesadillas ($13.50) and carne asada taco ($3). He loved it. I had same taco but to me the meat was little hard (little dry). Maybe cooked too long? But the salsa was delicious. I love it. Spicy level medium was on spicy side. If you like mild spicy it'll be too spicy. If you love spicy this place is for you. The lady at the truck taking orders was friendly and nice. I have crossed paths with this food truck multiple times, but haven't had the chance to order from there, given that they only open on two days. I figured it's time I give the place a try. So...moments after I finished work, I made a quick dash to the food truck in hopes they were ready to make orders again, and they were ready that time. I haven't ate a California Burrito since Frida's in 2022, and I gotta say, I also haven't had one with Carne Asada beef and chicken. Out of the many times I've had a California Burrito on this island, this might probably be the best one I've enjoyed so far. For $15, this is truly a nice deal. Just the right amount of fries in ratio to the meats, guac, salsa, onions, and cilantro. Most importantly, did a good job listening to what I wanted in terms of order. I ordered mine without sour cream and cheese, which might have changed the experience a bit differently for me. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. For a place that does Mexican food and is right next to Wendy's, they really did a great job. 10/10 Would recommend, but plan carefully since they only open on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

Nice area where you can wait under the shade with the roosters! Currently they only offer spicy or mild Carne asada burritos & quesadillas. Sorry Fran... no chicken yet, but he plans to expand as his dream is to have a brick and mortar restaurant. Today I bought a mild and a spicy burito. They take cash and card, but his phone overheated and the woman in front of me couldn't get her charge to go through. Luckily, I had my emergency cash on hand. There was no line when I parked, but when I came out,of my appointment, the line was fairly long as a Queen's employee had pre-ordered 12 burritos as a standing Tuesday order. He moves fast and broke down the line quickly. Today he was training a young man to assist him. Another hospital employee said they look out the windows to check how long the line is. I ordered one spicy and one mild burito to try. The person with the mild burito said it was spicy. I sampled a bite and found it had nice heat and flavors. Lol the "S" on the foil wrapper to designate Spicy was mis-labeled! I found the flavors of the burito was very yummy! The mild burito is also tasty, but will order a spicy next time! The burito was one of the best I have had! The burritos traveled back to the office nicely as was still warm!
