I got the beef burrito and beef taco. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt good. It was really really basic, perfect for those who enjoy bland flavors however I am not one of those people. Even other Americanized, Mexican restaurants will cook their beef with onions or peppers, but this was just plain beef. The spanish rice was on the dry side and bland. Portions were small to what I'm used to when ordering a combo meal. I actually finished my food which is unheard of if you know me. The service was good, but somehow my check came out to be $12.29 although my food was only $8.99 plus an extra charge to have cheese dip on top of my burrito, and a water. Not quite sure how cheese on top was that much extra. This meal wasnt really anything to complain about but I definitely would not choose this over Plaza Azteca. read more

The underwhelming experience and poor quality food had nothing to do with current COVID restrictions. It's aesthetically a beautiful spot, with lovely murals and decor, and the staff was friendly...but that is about all I can say that is positive. Bland food, straight outta the microwave and at a ridiculously high price point for the poor quality delivered. The Spanish rice was dry and tasteless, even crunchy, the salsa had no flavor, and the cheese dip was watery and tepid . Our orders were incorrect twice, and when asked to have it corrected they just scraped off the offending topping and sent it right back. I have only legit sent food back to a kitchen 3 times in my life, and I'm 37 years old. Usually I just grin and bare it and take note not to return. I could not bring myself to consume, let alone pay for, the food that was set in front of me. I sent it back and ordered another drink. Speaking of which, the Margaritas were overpriced and incredibly weak. Again, absurdly pricey for such tasteless and ill-prepared food. I should add I worked as a cook at an incredibly well-reviewed and popular taco spot in Richmond, and have worked in kitchens for years, and we made it all fresh and from scratch, including our margaritas, at a much lower price point. When the check came, we asked at least for the drinks to be comped or something. Jesus the manager came to the table and was utterly disrespectful. He said the roaches come from outside (clearly indicating he had seen them before), raised his voice at us, never apologized and acted as if we were trying to get out of the bill. The poor level of customer service clearly showed he did not value regular patrons and he walked away without finishing the convo. THE FOOD ISN'T THAT GOOD to be disrespected. This is good local joint. I have had better Mexican in Richmond but I recommend this place to try for a quick Mexi-night. The staff isn't the friendliest. I usually order a taco salad and a side of rice and beans. It's not bad, just seems like they rush to cook everything or it's pre-made. Love this quaint restaurant and its Frida Kahlo theme. The food is good, especially the carnitas! My friend had the steak tacos and raved about them. We had churros for dessert, which were good but could've been crispier. The service was great and our server catered to our every whim and even ran our "doggie bag" out to us when we left it on our table. We've come here several times during the week, but we want to come back on a weekend when they have live music! 'TEQUILA MORE' ---$1 margaritas Like most authentic Mexican restaurants they serve the traditional menu with enchiladas, tacos, burritos, rice, beans, fajitas etc. It's a smaller divey restaurant so it can be busy during lunch and dinner hours. M-F they offer different specials from $1 tacos to $1 margaritas. Let's get right to the review! The decor is really nice, simple and not overwhelming. This is not a big restaurant so come early, because they can get packed quickly. They do have a cute outside patio area weather permitting. The service was good, no complaints at all. She was attentive without constantly hovering. The food was amazing! I had the whole trout ( Pesco Frtio, I think that was the name lol) it came with rice and beans as well as a bit of salad complete with pico and guacamole. I also ordered a Vodka Collins, which was made perfectly. We went on a Friday and there was live music!!! Such a nice touch. This is a solid spot for authentic Mexican food at low prices. Just a couple of miles from my mom's, I've been coming here before it switched from casa grande several years ago, and the quality is the same if not better after the change. It's a small and somewhat divey space, but service is always pretty friendly and quick. I've ordered several different dishes that have all been to my liking. Most recently I ordered the Burrito Loco, which was stuffed a tortilla stuffed with shrimp and grilled veggies and served with rice and guacamole salad. I cleared my plate- it was great! And only $7.75. There was a large group of noisy kids when we arrived on the most recent visit. Wish we would have come later, but this is not the fault of the business. Luckily the kids cleared just as our food arrived, so we enjoyed some quiet convo over our food. Also, complementary chips and salsa are always pretty good. read more

I came in with high hopes after reading the reviews on Yelp. The atmosphere is cute and inviting, the menu options are plentiful and it was clean. The service was a bit awkward as our waitress came back a few times to change or verify our orders, and at one point we weren't sure what one of us was getting, but that was our fault for not trying to get her to explain a second time. We ran out of chips pretty quickly, but the food came out fast. The burrito grande I ordered off the lunch menu was plenty big enough and it was delicious. I will definitely say the slightly underwhelming experience was from possibly a new or frazzled waitress so we will definitely try again a different day, at a different time. read more

Both were superb and flavorful without being oily. The restaurant is a little small, so if you aren't a fan of crowds I would go at a non peak time. I have tried Fridas now twice and both times i was very impressed. There isnt another Mexican restaurant right in this section right by parham and brook. The staff is very friendly and stay on top of your tortilla chips and sauce lol. I know at some Mexican restaurants i go to after your first basket it might take them a while to ask if you want more. I've been coming to Frida's for the past 3 years and I haven't thought of reviewing it until I saw how underrated it is on this app. With the recent change on how they make their fajitas (almost NO oil) I can day that I can eat here and enjoy a low calorie- low salt - but delicious meal. The staff is incredibly friendly. There's a sense of family. It can get fairly crowded at lunch so try to get there early if you want to sit at the booths. Overall, 5 stars. read more
