Our server was super friendly and everyone working was very helpful. The staff had a good vibe. I like going to Friedman's because I have several gluten free friends and this restaurant really cares about that. It's generally a safe bet that your food and drinks will be good. They have quite a large variety on their menu, from breakfast to sandwiches to Asian fare. I didn't love my chicken sandwich but the spinach artichoke dip was amazing. read more

One of my go-to places for a casual brunch! My friend and I arrived here a little past noon on a Saturday and there was plenty of seating. This location is a little bit more "out of the way" compared to some of the other locations but definitely worth the walk imo since we were able to get seated right away without having a reservation, it wasn't as crowded as noisy, and service was top notch! This location's menu is also incredibly extensive and includes a ton of Asian-inspired dishes too, though I went for the lemon ricotta pancakes this time and my friend got the spinach artichoke dip. We both really enjoyed our food and I appreciated how careful and knowledgeable the staff were about accommodating my gluten-free dietary restrictions! This was a nice addition to the neighborhood. I liked their sturdy outdoor set up and the heat lamps. We came around lunchtime and they were quite busy. Seems like they only had two servers for everyone which was not enough since it took them a while to clean up after parties who had left. As a result, the wait times were longer than they estimated. However they had good covid precautions (well spaced tables, servers with masks). For the food itself, we loved our pastrami Reuben. It was warm, comforting and juicy. Definitely a greasy guilty pleasure for a cold weekend. The fries were pretty good as well, not super crispy but well flavored. It was enough for two of us to split and feel full afterwards. We got the Mac n cheese side too. We will definitely skip it next time. We liked the crispy topping and I liked the lighter sauce, but the pasta itself was too al dente and ended up tasting stale as a result. Looking forward to trying other dishes though! read more

we're regulars at friedmans and like this location for the neighborhood feel, and the additional gluten-free chinese menu (through LaSalle Dumpling Room). friedmans can get pricey so if you need to eat gluten-free, be sure to review your bill because sometimes the staff will add the $2 surcharge to dishes that are already gluten-free. the surcharge is meant for GF bread/buns. the menu at each location varies slightly so when we're at west end, we especially like the chicken schnitzel and rice cakes with pork. read more

They served under cooked fried chicken which was slightly bloody and cold inside and reheated outside chicken. When it was brought up, they apologized and took the dish. What was brought back was chicken reheated in a microwave, dried up like a card board outside and yet still cold inside. They did make it up by asking me to order something else, and they did not charge for the dinner for two - Thanks for making it up but will never return to this spot and now I have a bias towards Friedman's as a brand for not maintaining the quality of its chain stores. read more

Just opened a few weeks ago in October 2020, Friedman's West has a nice menu full of customizable sandwiches and salads. They built a very sturdy outdoor seating area and have heating lamps ready to go for when it gets colder. Went for lunch over Thanksgiving weekend. The service was lovely and the food was also. I had the autumn salad which contains a bunch of goodies like pepitas and squash and goat cheese and apples, with an herb vinaigrette. My SO got the pastrami on Rye, which they source from Pastrami Kings. We each had a couple beers in addition to our food and were pleasantly surprised to have not spent a zillion dollars. (Hells Kitchen tends to be pretty overpriced). Hopefully they receive a warm enough reception from the neighborhood to stay open during the fall. We could use a fair priced lunch spot! read more
