The restaurant is a little dated. There is a very distinct smell that's kinda gross but don't let that stop you from going in. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. We came in for ice cream and they left it sitting in the window until it melted. They were way to happy to stand around in the back and use poor language in front of our kids then focus on quality service. They did remake the ice cream after asking for us and another customer. My wife and I were driving down restaurant row on Myrtle beach and were overwhelmed with all the restaurants. We spotted a Friendlys that had easy access so we zipped in partially out of frustration and partly because it was handy. This turned out to be a happy accident. We were greeted like we were an old friend and seated right away. Our server, Jordan, was great. She knew the menu inside out, offered thoughtful suggestions, and struck the right balance of attention and giving its time to eat and talk. I worked at friendly's and they fired me for a no call no show after I called out for a family emergency. Then a week after I went in to get my last check and they refused to cash it for me even though I'm 15 and have no other way to cash it. The GM, Jennifer, then kicked me and the person I was with out of the restaurant when we asked for her to cash it. They also made me work past 9PM when legally in only allowed to work till 9PM. They never gave me time cards for the time I worked. They lied to me about my pay when I first got hired I was told I was making $8.00 an hour when I was actually only being payed $7.50. We had to pay for our meals when we wanted to eat on our breaks. DO NOT work there. It was a horrible experience. Worst job ever. read more

This was a unique friendlys experience. The place was a little more dull than other restaurants in this chain that I had been to. My fiancée and I ordered the bbq bacon cheese burger. They were definitely good but she had to have hers sent back for special requests not being followed. We also had the "loaded" waffle fries. The cheese was clearly a cheese sauce which really odd. After an early Dr. appointment we decided to go somewhere for breakfast. I opted for anywhere, but Denny's. Since we were both familiar with Friendly's, we decided to stop at this particular one at 4705 N. Kings Highway and I'm so happy we did. Our breakfast, including tax was only $11.77. There was some sort of breakfast special going on. I think it was called 'perfect breakfast'. Well, it was exactly that! We walked into a very large and clean restaurant. I noticed that there was a counter with stools so you could have a milkshake, like long ago. We were seated immediately in a booth by the window. Our server Haley, was one of the best servers I have ever had. I had placed my order and she suggested that I try the special since it would cost less. This included grits, which I had only eaten once in my entire life (I come from MA). I had 2 eggs over easy, 2 stips of burnt bacon as requested, wheat toast and coffee. My significant other had the same but opted for sausage instead of bacon. Haley suggested that I try the grits and told me different ways that they are eaten. They came with a bit of butter on the top and I remember the one time I did eat them, they were watery. They were thick here and tasted terrific! I tried them with jelly but liked them plain. I dipped them into my over easy eggs, but still thought they were great plain. Haley came back frequently to be sure we didn't need anything else or had any other questions. As previously stated, the total bill came to $11.77 ($10.56 for food and $1.21 tax) and I liked her so much, I left her a $5 tip. I will definitely go back there and would be more than happy to have Haley as my server. Friendly's is Friendly's but the employees do matter. I can't wait to go back there again. read more

This is review of recognized integrity. I left my wallet at this Friendly's while visiting Myrtle Beach. It's the one place I didn't try calling to see if they had found it. But not only did they find it, they went the extra mile to get it back to me. It didn't have any personal ID, just debit and credit cards, but it also contained my AAA card. The Friendly's staff contacted AAA to see if they could get in touch with me (which they did via email), so I was able to call the restaurant and make arrangements to get my wallet back. I had already departed the city so the staff offered to mail it to me, but my sister was still there and brought it back for me. The honesty, integrity and diligence exhibited by the staff of this restaurant deserves recognition. Well done! read more

The food was o.k., but the service was beyond bad, I think the girl was on something it took us almost 2 hours to get our food and drinks and they was not busy at all, she kept dropping everything and it took her about 30 minutes before we got to order and I am still waiting on my tarter sauce and lemons for my fish. I suggest you go somewhere else. When we first went in the person who seated us was our server, we liked her at first until it was time to order. She seats us and ask us what we want to drink, my mom ordered a shake I got tea with lemon,my son got orange pop and husband water she said she was going to go make the shake and get the drinks and she would be back 15 minutes went by and someone brought the shake and it was melted but no other drinks another 10 minutes went by and she comes over to take the order we start ordering and then when she gets to my mom she asked her a question about the senior discount, but the server didn't know the answer and walks away and goes in this door and she was gone for another 10 minutes when she came back she brought me my salad but still no drinks I had to bring it to her attention again and she leaves for about 8 minutes and brings them back with her, but still no lemon, ask her again about the lemon she leaves and we do not see her until about 42 minutes later when are food finally came and she wasn't the one who brought it, I ask for tarter sauce and lemon again they brought the tarter but still no lemon and by this time everyone else was done eating. Then she brings the bill and over charged my mom and when we brought to the supposed manager he had nothing to say but a bunch of bs excuses so I would say this place sucks so bad, I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! This morning we walked down the sidewalk from our hotel to the Friendly's @ 4705 Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC, that shares the parking lot, entering the establishment through the rear door. The breakfast items in the menu are all large with no listed Senior meals that might offer more normal sized portions. When I told the waitress I only wanted two eggs it was suggested I take the extra with me, believing there to be no other options, I ordered the hash brown breakfast. Shortly after receiving our order a nearby table was sat when they asked their server about a two egg vs three egg breakfast their server explained they did indeed offer a two egg breakfast with portions more to their liking. Confused, I inquired with the cashier who explained they do offer the two eggs breakfast but their corporate policy is the servers cannot tell the patrons it is an option, no matter what. I asked if that was policy even when the customer requested 2 eggs? The cashier seemed a bit embarrassed and got the manager for me to speak with. The manager, Ms Jennifer Grady explained the two egg special is posted on the Marquee. I explained we walked from the hotel in the backdoor therefore we're not aware of the Marquee nor it's posting. The manager Ms Jennifer Grady proudly stated that was too bad for us and charged us $26.70 for food that was thrown in the garbage. Insult to injury, greasy, poor quality food with worse service and dirty. Yes, I know. Why did we stay? Just didn't in a million years believe outside or Las Vegas or Reno that anyone could and would be so unethical and deceitful. I am a senior citizen in this country that I love and serve. I cannot accept that we allow this business practice to go on. BUYER BEWARE "Friendly's" isn't friendly and needs to steal to stay in business. Awful experience, shame on them and shame on me for allowing the violation. They are criminal!!!! Did I mention it is a dirty greasy spoon on top of everything else.....the place was all but empty....yes, another sign.
