Stopped in for lunch and were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken. Order consisted of a patty melt with waffle fries, cup of clam chowder, and bacon cheeseburger with fries. The clam chowder came piping hot and with a good amount of clam pieces in it. Have found this to be pretty consistent with past visits. The patty melt came with the Brad nicely grilled and with a large patty and plenty of cheese. The waffle fries were done perfectly , nice and crispy. The bacon burger arrive with two large slices of bacon, very crispy, and plenty of cheese. The burger was good sized and the bun very soft and fresh. The fries on the other hand had been sitting under the heat lamps rather than being made fresh. This was brought to the servers attention and a fresh batch was ordered. Unfortunately they pushed making the replacement fries and never really cooked them completely so even they were very hot they still were not crispy or even brown. Dessert of course was ice cream which was good always. Service was good and seating, combination of booths and tables/chairs was very comfortable. There will be return trips regardless of what happened with the fries. Just next time instead of fries the waffle fries will be ordered as it appears they are made fresh to order. read more

I can't understand the low rating for this place. We stopped here on the 4th of July to get some much-needed ice cream, and we had a great experience. We were seated promptly and Isabella, our server, was extremely attentive. That ice cream came out quickly and accurately and it was delicious. I could see the other diners were being served and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, so combine that with good food and terrific service, and I say that adds up to five stars. read more

Our server was amazing and got our order right and was attentive. The food was great! They sat us back by the kitchen and the conversations they were having rather loud was very inappropriate. We decided on Friendly's tonight from Doordash. Ordered the lobster shrimp quesadilla, got 2 micro speck pieces of lobster. Only 2 cuts had lobster and or shrimp, the other 2 just cheese. The Fire Roasted corn side was half a portion. There was no salsa or sour cream received. The order of 12 chicken wings was missing and the Strawberry Fribble ordered was missing the strawberries ordered (and paid for). We ordered (a BOWL OF CHOWDER) We got a 1/4 laddle full. (2oz) Instead of at least 6-8 (bowl size) All in all the order was a dismal failure! If we could give it 0 stars, we would. As you can see in Friendly's stores photo of the original order the way it is supposed to be/look. (We received 4, cuts) instead of 8. I've worked as a Chef for 40+years. THIS is the Stores General Managers fail. He/She is not training and not keeping the Guests food at quality and consistent levels of complete satisfaction to the guest/customer. He/She is allowing the employees in the kitchen to do as they please If you have no return guests, you will not have a store or job any longer. Lacking in managerial supervision. Most servers are rude, crude and belligerent... also not well groomed, long hair hangs down in the food plates. The place is also dirty reflecting the whole atmosphere. Senior citizens are abused verbally... recently l had to hire a lawyer for abuse and possible food poisoning from an out of control, deranged server .......Many people in my area no longer go to this establishment because of the above stated complaints... board of health has also been contacted frequently. read more

I wish could review the food bi we walked out before getting waited on. When asked if gluten free was marked somewhere we were told nothing was GF. Since I am just sensitive, I figured I could find something to eat. Lucky for me there were several things I found that I thought might work. After waiting quite awhile with no one coming to wait on us we were happy to finally see a waitress come into the dining. Unfortunately for us they did not stop at our table or even acknowledge us. A classic from my childhood although my location was in North Providence RI. I visit this location a few times per year with my step daughter. The food is good. Honestly it's gotten better over the years. The ice cream is how it's always been; great. The service here is good however there's usually only one or two waitresses running around the dining room. They work quickly to get your drinks and order even when it's busy. On this particular busy Saturday afternoon I did notice the waitresses having trouble keeping up as no one helps them to clean off the tables leaving them unusable which would help with the line building up waiting to be seated. The take out seems to be very busy. They atmosphere is fine. Booths and tables seem to have been kept up over the years. As far as the ice cream goes they continue to add new creations to the menu but for me, the banana split or anything chocolate-PB does the trick. The food has also seen a lot of changes over the years but what hasn't been jacked up is the pricing. This may be the last place with an affordable dining experience. Friendly's. I have secondhand embarrassment right now. I have been fighting myself four weeks to buy some food there because of my few last orders but i caved because the food I once knew was so it. First I hate that It cost me $30 for one entrée and a kids meal. But I was dying for a Super melt so I came today. Please tell me why I paid an extra three dollars to get loaded fries that 1. Wasn't even a big portion 2. Was mixed with regular fries I didn't want (I ordered loaded waffle fries) and to top it all off 3.! I have cuts in my mouth because you must've gave me the bottom of the barrel. I must have only gotten 3 legitimate waffle fries, and the rest were hard pieces of waffle fries. Not to mention my daughters broccoli wasn't even warm enough to melt the butter on top. &&& paid $18 for an entrée and the chicken didn't even cover the whole bread? Bacon didn't even cover? How are you charging these prices? Last time I went there I swear I was never gonna go back because I must've gotten 10 french fries with my entrée but I wanted to give you all the benefit of the doubt and I ordered again and I am just so displeased with every recent time I've gone there. When I was younger, this was my favorite restaurant and now I am embarrassed about the food quality and the food portions and the food prices. I've never seen something go downhill so badly. Very slow just for ice cream, had multiple people who arrived after get their food first

Ordered from this Friendly's through a food delivery service. Worst Friendly's delivery experience I have ever had. And it was definitely not the delivery service's fault at all. Ordered extra food so I'd have some for my dinner and some for my lunch the following day. I ended up throwing food away. I ordered the fishamig melt with a side of broccoli, cup of chowder, and the crispy chicken salad with grilled chicken instead of crispy chicken. The melt had almost no cheese on it and was very greasy. The salad had almost no lettuce. No utensils were included in the order. The only item that was decent was the clam chowder. Very disappointing food. I would not recommend ordering from this particular Friendly's. read more

Incompetent employees and manager. Came here for milkshakes. We only ordered 4 milkshakes in an online order for takeout and went into Friendly's at the estimated pickup time listed on the app but they didn't even start making it. It literally took over 1 hour for them to make it and they didn't even end up giving us the right sizes. After they finished making the milkshakes, they did not even tell us. They just brought the milkshakes to the refrigerator where they store the cakes that they sell. They took so long to make each of our 4 milkshake that some of the milkshakes were fully melted and not even thick anymore. While we were standing there waiting for an hour, we saw many other people wait ridiculously long times for their foods. And then there were people that came in and ordered way after us and still left with their food before us. There were also a couple of times when they had other people's orders wrong and the manager just looked like she didn't like her job. She was throwing the straws in the customer's trays and I felt that she wasn't professional. They had so many staff that walked in and out of the ice cream area but no one cared about the many customers waiting for their orders. Some of the staff were just socializing and they were drinking milkshakes themselves while all the customers were waiting for their foods in the pick up area. Nobody really cared. I have never seen such incompetency and unprofessionalism. Come here if you want to waste time and money. Otherwise, I suggest buying your ice creams from Mcdonald's or even go into a grocery store. I don't know how this business can still exist after the day we went. Many of the customers that were waiting so long for their foods also swear that they will never come back to the restaurant. I have been to a lot of Friendly's restaurants in my day. I am so happy that this is one of the last remaining ones in our area. The service and the food at this Friendly's and I emphasize on the food here is absolutely delicious. I do not know who your chef is but whoever he or she is takes the extra time to make sure all the food comes out well cooked well proportioned and very tasty. The atmosphere here is of course a Friendly's and if I had to make one complaint, it would be the old carpeting needs to be replaced or just taken out. But I am so happy to say that I am glad that this is the last remaining Friendly's around here because it is the best one I have ever been to thank you so much friendly staff in Norwich Ct. Unfortunately I have to give this location only one star. My boyfriend and I went for a quick breakfast a few mornings ago. When we got up to the counter the waitress and host both walked by, didn't say a word or seat us for at least 5 to 10 minutes and there was only one or two other guests eating or waiting for food (definitely not busy). Once seated we got our food fast and it was hot but it had a hair in it. I had to flag the waitress down to tell her because she didn't check on us a single time during our stay. Her solution was to just take the food back so I wouldn't have a breakfast. I was starving and had to request for them to remake it. Do not recommend. We waited almost 10 minutes to be seated. The restaurant wasn't even busy to begin with. There were a total of 4 servers and took About a 45 min wait to get food and just took forever just to refill waters. My wife's chicken wrap had minuscule pieces of over fried chicken that was un edible. I noticed it wasn't just our table that was experiencing long wait times, it was everyone. Not sure what's going on here, the server has mentioned there was a backup in the kitchen. The kitchen appeared to be fully staffed since I had a clear view to the back of the house and all I observed were people just standing around back there, reheating soups and the like in the microwaves. Having heard "rave" reviews about the hot dogs from a Plainfield/Norwich local, I knew I just had to get one. The dog itself was pretty standard, but the toasty bun was a nice touch on a cold winter afternoon. When in New England, one must always eat New England chowder, right? The chowder was tasty and had ample clams to potato ratio, but came out luke warm. The highlight of the meal was clearly the ice cream sundae. The freshly made waffle was absolutely delish!
