If you need a cheap bite to eat on a Saturday night, this is the place to go. Zero wait with average food but for the price and immediate service it's worth it. The burger is nothing to write home about and they don't give a lot of fries but i don't have a complaint about the taste. Like everyone else, I have been going to friendlys since I was little. Yes it's hard to mess up ice cream but that seems to be the only thing they have going for them these days. Too bad they used to have decent food. Now you pay $12 and get a slice of turkey maybe one strip of bacon and a lot of tomato to help bulk it up on the turkey supermelt. I miss the old Friendly's. I stopped in for a late quick lunch (was hoping I was close to Chick-fil-a, but i wasn't and I had to make do.) The place was half full. We waited about 5 minutes and then a hostess sat us near some families that were loud, so we asked if we could sit somewhere quieter. She brought us back to the front and angrily said we would have to wait. The front to middle of the restaurant was partially full and the back was wide open so I don't know why the long wait. Finally the disgruntled hostess came back and said I don't know kids are everywhere and proceeded to seat us where mostly adults and teens were sitting and it was quieter. Another 10 minutes and the waitress hadn't appeared. We left. Walked right by the hostess who sat us and she looked at us and didn't say a word. There were at least 3 waitresses and the hostess (I use this term lightly as she was neither welcoming nor pleasant ) I don't know why they were so slow. It certainly wasn't because they were clearing off all the tables because numerous tables still had the plates from the previous customers. The place was not clean, had torn seats. I seem to get seated at the torn seat side all the time. A look at the menu showed some OK food like hamburgers and chicken tenders, but they will cost you. Chicken tenders $10. Way overpriced. Lady in the front for the to go icecream was rude! Started off as bad right there. Seated table was sticky yikes! Our server was nice and I feel bad because she was the only one working and I can see her sweating from running around serving. Food is not good. Turkey club melt was not hot and fries was cold. Kids chicken strip was old looking and their fries was either old or sat around for a long time. Overall Would we return? The answer is ( no). I've order through Uber and Dash many times over the past couple of years.. orders have been great until recently after being purchased and ownership changed. Orders are made incorrectly, missing items. I've tried a few times since ownership has changed, I don't know what happened but somethings different. While I hate to say it, this place has definitely gotten considerably worse over the past few years. I used to love Friendly's back in the day, but never visited this location many times. I used to visit the others in the area since they always used to be better. The Needham and Dedham restaurants topped the charts in service, this one was always subpar. Then they closed the rest and updated everything here with a complete interior and exterior remodel. Service got better and the quality of the food got better too. Within the past year, it has gotten worse and worse. Many nights the ice cream window takes way too long to be explained. Three people in line suddenly takes over thirty minutes for just ice cream. No thanks. Take out food orders are small and not worth their cost. Ice cream is better at Furlong's up the street (as is the service), and food is better at Texas Roadhouse, Chili's, or any of the other trillion chain restaurant that line this section of Route 1. 2 stars. Honestly I don't know what compelled me to go here but I'm not going back. I sat in the main lobby waiting for my online order with 5 other doordash drivers only to hear one employee go "I clocked out in not dealing with these customers" and proceeded to walk out to her car. The best local Friendly's. Yes this is a Friendlys restaurant in the mold of the others. On the good side you'll recognize the menu, surroundings, ... etc. On the other side, it is not you local family run five star restaurant serving exotic culinary dishes reviewed by by the Phantom Gourmet. This is reliable comfort food. This location is the best locally. The wait staff varies; however, for meetings we usually get the same waitress who is professional and knows our orders. Why no 5 stars? The one irksome item is the Ziosk payment station on the table. It is a greedy attraction to suck youth into spending money on games. It gives some waitresses an excuse to never return once the food is served, and it uses table space. This Friendly's was renovated recently and the decor is a modern/retro mix, very clean design and I like it more than the old place. The booths are comfortable and large enough tor 4 or 6 if you have small children. They can also accommodate large groups by pushing smaller tables together. This Friendly's features the touch screen devices on the table that allow you to play games while you're waiting for your food. You can also use them to pay for your food when you're done with your meal. This is a good place to come for breakfast, just be sure you get here by 8am on a weekend or there may be a wait. The portions are large enough without being too much food and the prices are very fair. Weekday mornings breakfast is 50% off right now which is an unbeatable deal. If ice cream is what you're after, you can either order it from a window out front to take with you or get a booth or table and enjoy it inside. The selection of flavors and toppings is very good and the ice cream is delicious. Lunch and dinner here offer all the standards - burgers, chicken, steak, a few fish options, various salads - and they are all good. I had been going there since Covid lockdown, getting a bacon cheese burger, fries and as of late, a chocolate shake with chocolate ice cream. One person there should know exactly who this is. Went there tonight, was waiting behind the persown in front of me, who was placing an order. Someone asked me if I was picking up, and I said no, and noticed one side seemed to be for placing order and the other for pickups. I moved to to side behind the woman in front of me placing her order. Another guy walked in, asked if I was waiting and I said I was placing an order. He remained standing at the pick up side. Once the woman was done the kid at the register turned to him and asked picking up? And the guy started placing an order. The kid behind the counter totally discounted my having been standing there. I have been coming to this Friendly's since I was a young kid and it has just progressively gotten worse customer service wise over the years. After it taking almost 10 mins to be seated and not being said a word to, I was greeted by my server who was absolutely great BUT the rest of the staff doesn't seem to be attentive to the guests AT ALL. The morning staff has always been amazing but the afternoon staff treats guests like they're not even there. I watched 3 people walk out after being seated. Yes 3! That is absolutely terrible. We go inside expecting to be sat. The restaurant wasn't super busy. So the longer that we stood at the host stand with the servers/host ignoring us the madder I got. As we were about to leave someone (who I assume was a manager) came strolling out from the kitchen, chomping her gum and asked "how many." Not, hi folks or sorry about my employees ignoring you, just, how many. We finally get sat, and wait some more. After about 5-7 minutes our server comes on over. Wouldn't you know it, she was the one I saw outside smoking 25 minutes earlier. Noooo wonder why friendlys is going bankrupt and closing all their locations. Our family of four was completely ignored for 10-15 minutes after we walked up to the unattended hostess stand. The couple in front of us had resorted to flipping through menus. They were finally seated. However, we weren't acknowledged. No "someone will be right with you," no "welcome to Friendly's," no "hello," not even eye contact. A few waitresses walked by and also treated us like we were invisible. The restaurant was about half full and not what most people would consider busy. It was clear they were uninterested in our business. We walked out of the restaurant still unacknowledged as the door closed behind us. We instead drove to the Friendly's in Weymouth, which was also on the way home. We were greeted and seated in under 1 minute in Weymouth. read more

Honestly service could be alot Better and Cleaner and could use more space for customers with children at Table areas the waitress's could use some more training and making sure that the tables there waiting on dont need anything else. Thank you Friendly's for leaving at least one local location open! This location sits right on Route 1 and looks to be a newer remodeled spot. It is quite large and probably survived because of its vicinity to the Auto Mile and how quick and efficient the staff is. For Friendly's to just disappear from existence would be crime since most of us grew up with their burgers, shakes and ice cream as kids. The food is reasonably priced and tastes good, the same as it did when we were kids. Plus the menu rarely changes. Yes, they have specials and some additions, but the core food items that started the place, are still in existence today. This nostalgia makes this place have a down home feeling and a popular history. As for this location, well the staff is quick on its feet, helpful, friendly and makes the meal a joy. I hope the head office recognizes that this location needs to stay since this is the only one left in this local Dedham/Norwood vicinity. The Dedham location needed to close since the service stunk and the place was too small. Keep up the good work at this spot. I hope you are recognized and may sales continue to be high! read more

Let me start off by saying I am truly disappointed in this whole situation. I have been a huge fan of Friendlys since I was a child. I always went to the Sudbury location till it got shut down. I was super excited when I found one in Norwood MA, but quickly disgusted by the MANAGERS attitude. So its Sunday 3/8/2020 and I place an online order of a simple kids meal the Mac & frank. I receive an email saying my meal was ready by 1:57. I went to go pick up my meal but ahead of me was a man who was making a complaint about his service ( I should of listened to him ) his complaint took about 20mins so I just waited in line. When it was my turn this old lady who was the manager on duty goes and asks me what I want I simply say I have a pick up order OMG this old lady LOST IT she started yelling " no no no who's here to place an order I don't have anything ready no NEXT no I don't have any orders ready " so I simply tell her " well I received an email telling me when to pick up my meal". She tells me there's nothing she can do so I simply wait to the side. She takes another lady's order, then A Brazilian lady approaches mind you I noticed she was there before me waited and talked to someone previously. The Brazilian lady asks if her order is ready and again the old lady start screaming !! " I TOLD YOU I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING READY YOU JUST PLACED THE ORDER 10 MINS AGO YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT ATLEAST 40MIN I HAVE A FULL DINNING ROOM!!! " so in my head I'm like oh helllll no 40mins ?? I've been waiting 30 already. So I ask the old lady can I just get my money back she asks me for my name ( finally ) and I give her my name she goes to the kitchen and my meal was ready she hands me it and I leave. Okay the madness is over .. NOPE!! When I go pick up my child and hand him his meal he accidentally burned his fingers opening this bag!! They didn't even take it out the bag!! Two stars is high for what it is now, but before Friendly's went bankrupt, this place was incredible. This was the second time I've gone since bankruptcy and there really isn't any hope of turning it around. Last time I went, we walked out after not being seated for 10 minutes. Fortunately, we were seated quickly but the service couldn't have been slower. I understand they're understaffed, but I saw the other waiters constantly. Ours was out of sight. The people she seated across from us left after she didn't take their order for 20 minutes. The food was OK, but the table was nasty. Like I said, I understand they're understaffed, but the other waiters were wiping their table, it can't take more than 20 seconds. And don't go in the men's bathroom, the floor is so sticky you might not leave with your shoes. read more

I had a surprisingly good experience at this Friendly's. My party arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm, and we had to wait about 10 minutes, which is really no big deal. I don't expect to be served fast at a Friendly's...just being honest. The young man that took us to our table took our order for some Fribbles and they arrived very quickly in spiffy metal shake containers. Later we were told this was an error but I thought it was cool and very 50's diner-like. The waitress came over and was surprised we were just seated. She started her shift a few minutes before and said she had seen us arriving in the parking lot. She was genuinely concerned that we weren't being taken care of quickly enough and seemed frantic to help (which was sweet). Appetizers and sandwiches came with perfect timing. The waitress (her name started with an M I believe but I can't remember her full name) was very attentive and personable. Ignore the 2 Star Reviews Go and Have Fun! This is likely the Number ONE Friendly's in Eastern Massachusetts (Because Wilbraham is Awesome). Tons of Space and plenty tables for as many 5 or 10 Birthday parties at one time and still room for 5 more groups. The servers, the manager, the host or hostess, the cooks are super KIND and of course FRIENDLY and attentive. I never hesitate to leave a decent tip because the employees are so warm and helpful and make for fun full lunch, dinner or party experience. They're open until 11 so you can always get your cravings filled. Oh!, Did I mention the FOOD. Everything TASTES perfect! I went there the other day, and we had one of the best kind of service you can get, people were patient, they weren't trying to kick us out fast like some restaurants do.. Thats good stuff, along comes their new technology, so on every table has this little mini device where you can play games, and its pretty cool. Gives you something to do if you are bored with someone and have nothing to talk about. Game Changing right there, not in all just reference to the games on it.. Plus the big thing on it is that YOU CAN PAY on it instead of waiting for your server.
