Took an hour for one small icecream, also took about 20 minutes to actually take our order and then it sat in the window. Guy said it was busy and that's the reason but there were 3 cars in the lot he had no communication skills whatsoever lol surprised this place is even open still

The Cheese Skirt Burger, it looks strange but always taste delicious...

For how under staffed they are , we were super impressed. They got our order for 6 people perfect and even found time to check with us about refilling our drinks. We will be back.

Hailey was an amazing server, it took longer than expected to be seated. My husband almost wanted to leave, but my son's love of ice cream had us stay. We enjoyed our turkey melts and captain platter. The desserts were on point and when our kid realized how small his was in comparison we added a few more scoops to the take out. We would go again, just hoping when people see you from the kitchen and know you are waiting actual exchange pleasantries to welcome you to the establishment.

My crew stopped in for dinner. I got clam chowder and chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Ambiance is diner/Dennys like with nice booths but the AC was turned up too much. The chowder was very good. The chicken meal was fulfilling and just enough. The desert ice cream was delicious as Friendly's is known for great ice cream and milk shakes . The waitress was friendly. Good place for a good meal.

Slow service. But the food was good. Had the wrap. Lots of good stuff. Even Jewels liked it!

ultimate cookies and cream, didn't use cookies and cream ice cream or hot fudge, just vanilla, chocolate sauce and Oreos.

A bit understaffed, but as 2 people from Ohio (where all Friendly's sadly closed), we were happy to get a taste of the visiting Maine.

My daughter loves the Açaí Nutella bowl...she gets it very time...and I don't blame her...it is so good! I however like to try something new. This time I tried a half & half. You can get two different smoothie bases in one bowl and select any bowl topping. I tried the Nutella Bowl with half mango and half Açaí. It was so delicious! I enjoyed this so much because of the multiple flavors, and textures. The fresh fruit, the crunchy granola, and the sweet Nutella are the perfect dessert! Both the açaí and mango bases are sweet, which I love, but I could imagine pairing a less sweet base, like the banana, with a more sweet base like mango. I'll have to try that next time. Also just have to say that the bowls/toppings are exactly as shown on their website/in app...it is really amazing how the photo and the real thing match exactly. Very impressive quality control! They do have a loyalty program...which I just signed up for today (probably should have done this sooner), and a mobile app for mobile ordering. I only gone there in the evening and it has not been busy so our order was ready really fast every time, but I could see using the mobile ordering during busier times.

I want it so thick that it's only very nearly impossible to suck up through a straw. Also, it can't taste only like bananas. And finally, it can't have chunks. So, so many places in Greater Portland just don't have what I'm personally looking for (creamy, flavorful, and thiiiiiiiiiiick)... but Playa Bowls does. Listen, I know they're a chain, and I know they're way too trendy for someone like me, but the smoothies are done right here. I've tried a couple: 1. Orange Power (orange, pineapple, coconut milk, sub their usual protein powder for the vanilla plant protein powder instead): It's like a creamsicle from when you were a kid! I would really like to try other smoothies, but this just keeps being my go to. Sure, it can be a little gritty from the protein powder, so if that's not something you're used to heads-up. I am, so it's barely noticeable. The 90's called and they want their summer back, and I'm here for it! 2. The Dang (banana, wheat grass powder, peanut butter, cinnamon, almond milk): I wouldn't usually order something like this, but it was so much better than I was expecting. Rich, earthy while still being subtly sweet, and really hearty for a smoothie if that makes sense. Absolutely would reorder! I think the two biggest challenges/negatives here are that a) the music can be overwhelmingly loud (if you get sensory overload, prepare yourself) and b) the wait times can be loooonnnnnnnnng. I've seen some people on other Playa Bowl listings across the country complain about the price, but here in the 207 some of you are paying $10 for two bites of an overpriced hand roll. I'd much rather pay $9 (16 ounce) to $11 (20 ounce) for a filling smoothie. And they're currently open 8am to 8pm. Where else can you get a smoothie past 4pm in Maine? Go ahead, I'll wait. #WelcomeToPineappleLand

Lived in Portland for years and never had a reason to come here when there's so many other (glamorous) options, but now living so close I just think this spot is super, duper charming. Yes, the prices are higher than at other places and I'm not entirely sure why, but this doesn't really bother me because the portions have always been enormous here, it's super convenient to where I live, there's never a wait, the staff is accommodating about wacky requests, they take credit cards, and the customer service is sometimes above and beyond what's becoming the norm downtown (I showed up once a few minutes after they had closed for the night, but they still let us order giant sundaes anyway!). They serve stuff from The Ice Cream Machine (out of Rhode Island, and distributed by Sysco) so it's not homemade or local even - I don't think it's the most delicious ice cream in the world, but it gets the job done and sometimes that's all you need (side note: their sundaes are awesome here; they know how to pour. on. the. hot. fudge!). Do I think this is a destination spot? Absolutely not. Is it ever going to make it on some national "Best of..." list that will drive hoards of people to it? Nope. Will I seek it out when I move away from the neighborhood? Can't say that I will. But is it a perfect spot for those Back Cove/The Pocket folks within walking distance? Yep. It's nice that in the state's biggest, busiest, trendiest city there are still places you can safely, quietly walk to get some ice cream with your family and enjoy it in a pristine park across the street only locals really know about.
