Those were the day's I must say. I was a regular back then often usually only smoking at this hookah bar. Love the kabobs( 5 stars) service was good till around 7. Then once it was pack full of people then that's a different story. Nova Iranian hang out when it comes to hookah. Back then hookahs were ok but the bowls suck!!! Lightly pack which about after 30 mins the hookah was burnt out. BTW the parking lot SUCKS!!!! Lol During a nice spring weekend I decided to go back cuz my friends and I wanted to smoke hookah. They did change the hookahs to KM( plus) bowls were larger but they need to learn how to pack a hookah. If you are looking for good food then come here. The layout of this place makes one feel uncomfortable. It's perched somewhat romantically on top of a hill overlooking a Chain Bridge road intersection, but whatever charm it could benefit from this location is steeply offset by the claustrophobic, dingy outdoor area and the depressingly plastic indoors. Despite its interesting choice of name, this place is not a Persian take on the classic NBC sitcom. The place is self-serving, they call your number when your order is ready, and they usually hand it to you with a dour, inhospitable scowl. The hookahs are nothing to write home about, but having the distinction of being Persian, you can get to have passable Persian food and ice-cream. My husband and I were shopping at Tysons Corner and decided to go for hookah and dinner. We ended up here. My husband warned me that I would not like it, and I sure didn't. I had the gyro platter and he had a chicken kabob plate. I can't say how his food tasted, but after a few bites of mine, I was done. It wasn't doing anything for me. The only thing I liked was the hummus. I liked my husband's garbanzo beans dish as well, until I saw a hair in it. Ew. I took my food home in a box because I felt bad throwing away an entire tray of food, but then I threw away the entire box the next day. Even for hookah- it was dirty, and the fact that it seemed so unsanitary in the outdoor hookah portion killed it for me. My hookah didn't taste like anything. The workers here are TERRIBLE. We had to ask THREE times for our table to be cleaned. The only reason we sat there was because there were no other tables available. They randomly took away our hookah, so that we had to get up and ask for it to be given back. I swear we stood up like twelve times trying to get things done. There was a 55 year old woman here supervising her daughters' hang out with her friends. This provided some entertainment. Total crap experience. After my friend and I discovered that Chipotle in the mall had been closed down, we stopped here for lunch one day out of pure desperation. I ordered a gyro combo which had a side of hummus. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back....the hummus wasn't flavorful at all and was runny. The wait time for one of their main products was over twenty minutes and the lamb was too tough to really enjoy. This has got to be the most disgusting thing I've ever seen!!! My friends and I ate a late night dinner here, which was average and fried, nothing to rave or remember about, accompanied with watery lentil soup. The hooka we ordered was terrible and we were extremely disappointed...but seeing about 100 rats jumping from garbage bins and running by our cars has got to be the worst! Meh. The food is okay. It's not bad, nut it is also not great. The chicken was cooked well, but was missing something. It was slightly flavored, but needednsomething more. Also, they do not serve naan here. I was completely surprised when I opened my "chicken and bread" to find a half dozen chunks of chicken and just has many slices of pita bread. Bummer. Additionally, the configuration here is a little wonky. You walk directly into a hooka bar which is incredibly off putting. Additionally, the area where you order has a wierd sour smell. My boyfriend and I ordered delivery from these guys for lunch today, and the portion sizes are big enough that we're eating our leftovers for dinner right now. a coworker and i ordred delivery on a saturday to our office in tysons corner. it took them 1.5-2 hours to deliver it to us. when we got the food it was pretty good...until i went for the spinach and found a HUGE piece of metal (maybe from a can opener or some kind of machine) in my spinach. I ordered delivery. The guy was nice but the food was meh. I ordered the lamb and chicken kabob combo with rice and a side of yogurt sauce. I'm fairly certain that they didn't use seasoning on anything (I would be surprised if salt was used) which is really disappointing since I'm used to middle eastern food that is full of flavor. At least the meat was cooked nicely. The yogurt sauce was also a huge let down. It had an okay flavor but it was sooo runny. I've never seen a yogurt as water as this. The owner of this place is a jerk, doesn't care about customer service at all. They are slow, lack basic customer service skills, food is average at best, and just whine about nothing. They try to be cheap by saving heat during the winter. Ridiculous I don't know how this place stays open. Food is only edible and not great, service is worst. I watched my food sit on counter forever while others got their order - thought it was missing something so I didn't ask sooner. When I finally asked they claimed it had just came out even though I had been standing there watching it from the counter. The kubideh tastes plain, the rice is plain, and the spinach stuff is very oily. It was OK for one time but bad customer service and mediocre food quality won't have me coming back. As a foodie and hookah lover, this place is good for a 2 hr lunch break. The menu is pretty selective than others I have seen in the area, the shisha is decent to smoke for maybe an hour, and the patio is nice. This place does get packed during lunch hours, so try to come at an off hour. read more

My co-workers went there for take-out. The food they came back with was very good, the meat was well seasoned and almost perfect. Portions were generous and the sides chickpeas, soup, yogurt sauce and spinach were really good. My co-worker said the service was really good, owner's wife put special care into the food and told the employees to make sure it comes out perfect. Very yum! The food was awesome, Dropped in yesterday for a chicken kabob and it hit the spot. The salad was pleasantly delicious. I didn't care too much for the bread, too flat. I'm a carb girl so I need good fluffy bread! Kind of hard to spot if you're coming for the first time. As the previous posts state look for the drycleaner sign and it's literally right next door. Love the atmosphere at Friend's Kebab! Great to hang out with friends and relax after an exhausting week at work...food is great, and staff friendly. There is some room for improvement - they seem to be a bit short staffed at times so there isn't much of an interaction. It's lacking great customer service especially when it comes to ordering/pick up of your food. It would have been great to engage more experienced staff to take orders - would definitely make a tremendous difference. A teen was taking my order and some items that were paid for slipped through the cracks and didn't end up in my pick up bag. Just go their flier in the mail and LOVE middle eastern food so I said, why not... they deliver. Well I should have said WHY!!!!???? I ordered the chicken and lamb kabob with rice. The little itty bitty side salad that comes with the meal was HOT. The chicken was dry as a desert. The lamb was so chewy, I couldn't cut it using the plastic fork and knife they included. The mint dipping sauce was gross. I will say the rice and bread were delicious, but as someone who is cutting back on carbs, I couldn't eat much of it. It should be noted that Friend's Kabob changed ownership about 6 months or so ago (I believe it was sometime in early 09). It is now Iranian/Persian kabob as oppossed to Afghan which it used to be. It is much better now! Although the prices were increased a bit the kabobs are significantly better. I never really liked it before but have been pleasantly suprised since the change. While I don't smoke hookah....so i can't attest to its quality....they do offer hookah now which people are always there smoking. I walked in and I was greeted with an overly sweet smell, which I was told due to Hookah. The restaurant is split into 3 section, 1st section is outside with the plastic tarp over it (smoking area). 2nd section is the restaurant itself with 4-5 tables for non-smokers and lastly the 3rd section is in a closed off room and its a smoking section also. I was at the counter the menu just list the names of what they have with no description up until I got to the counter when I asked the guy what is in the friends combo and he promptly told me the description menu is laying on the counter in a exasperated tone. After looking over what I want I ordered the food togo, the guy shouted something to the chick behind me leaving, and then told me again in an exasperated tone how much food is and all the good stuff. We sat down to wait for our food which took about 20 mins to be ready. When I walked to the counter to pick up my food it was in a plate on a tray. I told the guy (a different guy now) we ordered it togo, he apologized and sent it back to be packaged, which took 15 mins. Why does it take 15 mins to pack up food??? So we left and when I walked out I was hit with a face full of smoke. We ordered the Kubidah platters which comes with rice, salad, humus and bread and my bf ordered the Friends Combo 2 (chicken, beef, rice, bread and salad). The food didn't come with the yogurt sauce most Middle Eastern place gives us. The Kubidah was cooked nicely but could use a little more seasoning, and the humus was pretty gross. I can't put my finger on it but something about it made me dislike it and I usually eat humus on a weekly basis. As for the Friends Combo 2 as per my bf "it was really good, the chicken and beef was not dry". They were fast with delivery and the shishkabob combo platter was good, but they didn't include any utensils or napkins. Come on, Friends Kabob. Boo. I'm in a hotel room - I need utensils and napkins. To add, the hummus was good, but the pita bread was tough and not very good. SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THEY'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A RENO OR SOMETHING... Uhm no..... Is this place for real? Granted, I stopped in for lunch and only once, but are they in the middle of a renovation or something?? If so, there was nobody working or no sign to be careful. I walked in through the outside patio and instantly felt like cringing. I probably should have turned around then, but thought I heard this place was ok and needed lunch before I went back to work. I walk in the second room and the floor looks permanently dingy with older tables and chairs, which would have been fine by itself. But then the counter space by the register, or lack of, is filled with an array of odd things they are trying to sell. I started looking around and it was like that everywhere I looked. Any empty space was overfilled with things and not in an inviting way. More like on lopsided throwaway tables and as much stuff as they can cram on there. Immediately behind the cash register is the grill and open kitchen, that looks very small. However, the seating areas are huge, three rooms. It doesn't make sense how such a small kitchen and no counter space anywhere, could support this place if packed. I purposely did not look too hard into the kitchen, because if I see anything I don't like I will walk away quickly. Parts of the ceiling are completely exposed, with wires hanging out everywhere. So much so, that the cashier had to duck when turning around to get the food. There was an unfinished open space above the register where maybe a menu board used to be? I don't get it. When the food comes out there's nowhere to put it for someone to pick up. The guy just barely balanced the tray on the refrigerator case. I kept saying to myself, please don't fall in front of me. I'm surprised as picky as I am that I still ate the food, but it wasn't bad. However, don't think I'll be back either. I got the standard chicken kabobs which were on the dry side and the rice did not impress me at all nor did the pita.
