I absolutely love this restaurant! It's such a unique place. The moment you walk in, you are surrounded in an all white decor that gives you a certain nice feel to it. I came here and tried their fish burger with fries. And let me say this - it was deliciously messy! Just the way a nice street burger ought to taste and be. Furthermore, their garlic fries are flavorful and thin and starchy. There's a generous amount of fries that they provide too So that always helps. And if you thought that was enough they will make you go crazy for their Batidos drinks. I have tried mango, passion fruit and my absolutely favorite: coconut. It is a taste of tropical heaven. Stopped in for lunch with a client for the first time. She had recommended it from others feedback and it was both of our first times. We had never been to the Ann Arbor location either. We reviewed menu online before we went so that we had an understanding of what we were ordering. It's confusing but I will simplify a bit- Burgers and bowls are the main menu options. Basically you pick meat and toppings. The fries are amazing and the light shakes are great. I got the lemonade which was a bit too sweet for me. Inside is very clean and bright. Absolutely delicious, very fresh with creative flavors. Every staff member we interacted with was delightful. The woman taking our order was super friendly, helpful, and very accommodating to my vegan daughter. The guy cleaning tables and restocking water was really on top of things. They bring out your order with a smile. I noticed they switch up the jobs too. Bathrooms were clean. Picnic tables are very cool with the custom area for water, cups, sauces and napkins. Wow, wow, wow. This place is a gem. We randomly drove by their food truck and thankfully decided to turn back and give it a try! Since we already lunched at a near by place we decided to get drinks and dessert. I had the Passion Fruit Batido. OH MAN. It tasted like a tropical paradise. I also ordered a churro (btw, it's large enough to share). HIGHLY RECOMMEND ordering the churro. Hot, warm, fluffy. The food was just as great as I remember - I really think about the chorizo Frita way too frequently and it didn't disappoint! What really stood out was the staff, though! I got a double chorizo burger with all the toppings on it except bacon. I also got the twice fried plantains and garlic cilantro fries. The chorizo is tasty. Very tasty. I have some problem with it though. ITs massive. Too big too eat and very messy. Also it came out to nearly $18 for a burger. My dad asked if they had Maduros and the worker said they didn't. However, the tWice fries plaintians are nearly that. I don't think thE worker knew what he was talking abt. The fries were good too. The music here is also SO loud. It's insane. I was in a conversation with a gentleman who admitted that this spot has the best hamburgers in Detroit. I honor his restaurant awareness, so I researched the menu with my vegetarian bent. The veggie burgers in Detroit is hit and miss. Nothing to greatly recommend. But on to Frita Batidos... the menu was enlightening. So many option for the current up to date individual; not the historically common items found at all restaurants. It gave me an option for an after movie date with my wife. The location is a new development alley in downtown Detroit- quite interesting. The staff was super cool and accommodating, and the clientele seemed to be a true fan of the vibe. The long painted park benches were not what I expected, but nothing is at this restaurant. The food will be discussed later. The milk bottle glass water was what I in particularly like as it's personal and gives the impression of quality over plastic bottled water. There were ample and different napkins and three different condiments in a carved pocket in the tables. Why important- you may ask. Well once you are there you appreciate it's utility. In fact the entire place I had a space for enjoyment of your dish. Which arrives quite fast. You have to return visit, because their menu is divine, and what I ate makes me a believer that all,of their food is worthy of unashamed repetition. Ok the food. 'Oh my goodness'. The absolute best veggie burger I ever had and could have imagined. I had the egg and avocado veggie burger. And let me say, I've been talking about the delight for days after. Great burgers (baditos) but be warned they will be served medium rare (pink in the center). If that doesn't fit your vibe make sure to specify that while ordering. Great for a quick bite to eat, great location. The last couple times I've been my order was incorrect but still good.

Definitely 4 stars for the look of the restaurant, it's bright, open and overall very minimalistic. The view is beautiful beIng that you have ceiling to floor windows with a view of The M Den (go Blue)! It would be five for design, but it was so loud because of the lack of soft textures. The music and kids running through the restaurant made it a bit uncomfortable on the ears, but I did carry out anyway, so it didn't matter much. The food. I'm disappointed with the value, but because of something I didn't anticipate. I love a tropical slaw-- love! Except mine had mayo in it? I do not love mayonnaise. I got the Frita bowl (staff said it was highly recommended) with the fish cake. It wasn't hard to sell me on it because I love fish, tropical slaw, and coconut rice. Overall? Right away, I had to throw away a quarter of the food because of the slaw touched it. The mayo melted down and slid under the rice, so I tossed another third of that. Ultimately, the rice doesn't have much flavor. I'm kind of surprised by that. The fish is alright, a bit soggy, but not too aggressive (light seasoning, not spicy, fair enough for delicate palates). The ginger lime juice is still delicious! The guac looks promising. I'm just so thrown by this gratuitous usage of mayo. (For the general American population, not FB: Whyyyyyy do you all eat stuff like that? There are so many better sauces which add flavor to a dish.) read more

Not terribly different from the original, my critique remains the same-- Frita Batidos has a pretty, bright, comfortable storefront space, and it's got the flavor, but it can't seem to make food that isn't soggy with grease. This ranges from the fried plantain chips, which you can get with some amazing, fresh salsa (or enjoy with their tasty, sweet chili sauce, which comes in squeeze bottles at each table), or the sandwiches, which range from greasy black bean to greasy beef to greasy whatever else. You can get a side of greasy fried plantains. Then comes the point that if I want greasy street food, I want to pay greasy street food prices. I want to go to El Rodeo on Michigan Avenue or El Parian on Vernor and I want a nasty, dank torta with some al pastor and some of that sticky icky icky red-brown super hot salsa. But no-- lunch for two here is gonna run you a solid $30 without drinks. I'm sure it's a hit with the Ilitchville crowd, though. read more

Went on a Saturday around 5 so it wasn't very crowded, started to get busy right around when we left. They have dominos at the table to play so that was fun. The burger was greasy but tasty. The fries- so good! There are some fries that come on the burger but I wish I would've gotten a side of them. Got an egg on my burger- it was messy but very with it. The cinnamon plantains were verrrrry good- soft and sugary. Highly recommend. Had the hot sangria- was decent but probably wouldn't get it again. read more
