This food was seriously so good. I had the plantain chips and salsa as I waited for my lunch. The plaintains were salty and crunch. I wound go back just for a bag of those. I ordered the chorizo burger and added a bunch of toppings to it. It had so much flavor! I loved it. The cilantro fries were also to die for. I went to the University of Michigan and every time someone wanted to go out to eat I suggested the original Fritas. I just about jumped for joy when I found out this Detroit location was opening so that I no longer have to make that drive and the food is just as good. I suggest a chicken frita with an egg and cheese, plus a side of PLAIN fries (they're better than the garlic ones) for dipping in to the phenomenal sauce plus a chocolate Español Batido. Your meal will be expensive but you will be satisfied. Oh and grab one of the chocolate donut looking things. Those were surprisingly delicious as well. read more

My go to burger joint. I know it's a frita but if I'm ever craving a burger this hits the spot for me. The bun is perfectly buttered, toasted and crisp. Meat is always perfectly cooked and only place I know that serves enough fries on top of the burger that you don't really need a side order of fries. Delicious. Definitely a must. read more

I was really excited to try this place after I heard so much about the Ann Arbor location. The food was pretty good. I got the beef Frita, the lighter batido, a churro, and I split the garlic cilantro fries with a friend. The batido was smooth, creamy, and delicious! I really couldn't figure out what was making it "lighter", but I'm really glad I got it. The churro was HUGE, literally the size of my forearm. I really wish they had given us a fork for the fries because they were quite greasy. The reason I lowered the rating is because the service was horrible and the tables were very dirty. No one seemed to know what was going on and there was a lot of confusion because multiple people would respond when "Jessica" was called. But I will say that this was a very busy time and they did eventually wise up and started saying initials as well. I would definitely go back to eat again, but I really hope it gets less crazy. read more

Reasonable prices, except when you're me and you want to order literally EVERYTHING off the menu. After MUCH deliberation, I got the savory fried plantains, the Inspired Cuban and before leaving I had to get some churros. Everything was fantastic, but those plantains were impressive. They were sliced large and I fully expected the center to either be mushy or way too firm, but each one was perfectly cooked all the way through and the sauce with it was delicious. The Cuban is definitely a spinoff from the traditional, with the addition of bacon and different pickles and cheese, but it's fantastic! Now the churros. Oh. My. Goodness. The churros. I ordered these thinking they would be your average thin little churros where I could (not should) easily eat three by myself with the chocolate dipping sauce. Ohhh no. They were massive! I barely finished one, with help. But dang was it good! Fresh out of the fryer. Perfect doughy texture inside and an absolute mess like any good churro should be. If I could give this place six stars I totally would. Best. Service. Ever. (I loved my food as well) I came in yesterday afternoon with my dog and sat outside on their beautiful patio. They were so accommodating to me and to him. They even had a full bowl of water and milk bones outside. I ordered a glass of Sangria and their Chorizo Frita. I thought It was the perfect amount of Spicy and I loved the mix of flavors. But the best part about it was the service. Three lovely women (I wish I had gotten their names) helped me. They came out and checked on my dog and brought him out a little snack for free. Even though it's a fast casual restaurant they still came out and checked on me multiple times throughout the meal to make sure both of us were doing well. Fritas is a delightful fun spot in downtown Detroit. We tried the loaded plantains and they were full of flavors. A Latín beer and a coconut cream batido (with rum floater) to accompany made a perfect afternoon snack. The space is bright and cool with dominoes on each communal table. Been here many times. I will be back many more. I always bring friends and family from out of town here too. They always love it. My husband is vegan and I eat it all. We both can find things on the menu that we love. The staff are super nice and easy going. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. You may have to share a table with some strangers but that never bothers me. We always have a good time and is usually we are stuffing our faces with delicious food and not paying attention to our surroundings. LOL. They also have great beverages and desserts too. Perfect place for food before or after an event at the Fillmore. I had a beef Frita with an egg on top and a lemonade. Frita was flavorful and the egg was cooked perfectly for dripping yet somehow didn't get all over me. Magic! The lemonade was yummy but served in a plastic bag with a straw sticking out. Disappointed for sure, my first and last visit. The wait staff was more concerned with getting the candles on the tables than grabbing me silverware so I could scrape the undercooked egg off my Chorizo sandwich which was tasty outside of that. Yes, I got a frozen milkshake in December in Detroit. It was worth those three ice cream headaches I got just drinking it! Yup even did the slurpy straw thing. They serve you at the picnic table.
