This is more of a 3.5 star review but I'll bump them up to 4 because I think they have potential if they work on a couple issues. I stopped by here a couple weeks ago to pick up a burger and fries. A full meal was a bit of a drain on the wallet and should set most back by $10 to $12 for burger and fries only. The burger I got was the Angus topped with gruyere cheese, onion, tomato, greens, and guacamole on a brioche bun. The burger was cooked medium but was a bit on the lukewarm side by the time I got back to my office. Despite the lack of warmth, the burger tasted pretty good. For size comparison, I'd say it's a bit bigger and taller than a Whopper Jr. The frites are where I have to take off the most points off because they were pretty unremarkable. The fries did not appear to be "handcut" as advertised and resembled McDonald's fries (albeit much less greasy). The amount of fries they give you is also a bit disappointing considering the $3 price tag on it. The only thing that saved the fries were the dipping sauces (an extra $0.50). I got the horseradish and garlic, which were both fantastic and packed quite a punch. I really wish they could improve the fries to taste a bit more like actual homemade fries and given you a bit more for the steep price tag on them. I'd recommend this with some reservations. It's probably worth it for an Angus burger, which should set you back $7 with a reasonable amount of toppings. I will pass on the fries next time they go here until they improve them. Frites n Meats has the potential to be a great truck but it's not quite there yet. read more

More food truckery! As a fan of both frites and meats, as well as food trucks, I would seem to be the target demographic here, but this just didn't get me doing cartwheels down Park Avenue. I called in my order and it was ready when I got there. Pretty tasty burger, but not in my Top 5. And wrapped in foil and a paper bag served from a truck... well, it just didn't seem special. The frites were actually the standout here; more like skinny McDonald's fries but cooked the right way and delicious. Not bad overall, but I am on a quest for the sublime. read more

"Frites N Meats" stands out among the "truck crowd" for having exceptionally tasty food that's almost as pleasant as a sit down place. The BYMARK burger (grassfed angus with brie, seasoned & grilled mushrooms and garlic aioli spread) was terrific; cooked just to my order specs. Fries were crisp and came with my choice of five dipping sauces. Order came up quickly (standing in 30-degree NYC winter winds isn't easy) and the service was spot on. Well done, guys. The burgers here are great. The meat is perfectly cooked, and the toppings including choice of cheese is outstanding. My personal favorite is the Kamikaze (one of their weekly specials) with provolone, bacon, and onion rings. And how can I possibly forget those wonderful brioche buns? I seem to be the anomaly when it comes to the fries though, as I just didn't care for them so much. The double frying just doesn't sit well with me, either in taste, or in my stomach later. The sauces (sassy frites) are their big selling point, and they are very tasty....but I just wasn't a fan of the fries. Discovering this truck was the highlight of my week... I was just walking along when I smelled deliciousness wafting towards me on Greenwich.... This is a What Works/What Doesn't Work review. WHAT WORKS: High quality delicious large beef burger (I got Angus), fresh toppings, made to order. Really a special treat, this burger. WHAT DOESN'T WORK: Guys, don't let your cheapness ruin your brand. Packets of Hunts ketchup? A definite red flag, and you can't possibly think it passes for organic. And you up-sell your Jazzy Sauce and Savory Onion Jam; .75 each, but then you just put on a tiny smidge of each--that kind of nickel and dime-ing is uncool, and New Yorkers don't appreciate it. Also your "frites" are no bueno. They're hot and crispy and you follow the Five Guys model of giving way too many, but they are not the fresh cut pure potatoes in oil I expect from an organic brand, or for something called a "frite". These are just some salt-infused suspiciously too-crispy probably-frozen fries. read more

I always keep tabs on this truck when its around for lunch. I'm always looking for a great burger with all the delicious trimmings and Frits 'n' Meats is pretty darn close. I usually go for the standard angus, which they make charred on the outside but still pink inside. The extra toppings are great, and there's plenty of exotic cheeses you can go with. Tomatoes/onions/pickes/lettuce tasted fresh and their fries come out almost perfect. Make sure to order their chipotle mayo to go along with the fries! Always an awesome experience. Watch out for the lines however, you can be waiting for 30+ minutes during lunch for your order. Check their twitter and keep their punch card as you come back for more, and try to call ahead with your order for pickup. A most solid burger option. Highly recommended! read more

Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had. I got the American Kobe (Waygu) burger, no special fixins, and hot diggity, as soon as I took a bite there was a party in my mouth and everyone was invited. I will say though that the burger was cooked a little rare for my liking. Hot tip - if you can, call and order ahead; the truck attracts a huge crowd and at peak hours you can find yourself waiting up to 45 minutes for your food. I learned that one the hard way. Its not the best burger you are ever going to eat, however, it will come pretty close. The meat is grilled to medium maybe medium-rare and is very juicy and tender with a bit of grill/char flavor which makes it all the better. Another added advantage is that their burger is not greasy and doesn't make you feel heavy and bloated. A few of my coworkers also rave about the fries from here.. so maybe give them a try if you are indeed a fries lover/expert. read more

Holy hell, the frites are delicious. Dipped in the garlic aioli is pure heaven, or the cheese sauce. Those frites are the stuff of dreams. The burger wasn't my favorite, but I'll certainly give them another shot (if only because I crave those fries to insane levels) -- the ingredients were very quality: good meat, great cheese, good bun, tasty guac, etc. The burger just didn't blow me away, but it really satisfied me and kept me full all day, which I guess is what a good lunch is all about. I'll be back when it's convenient, for sure. The ordering is convenient: you're filling out a card, which is something more food trucks that allow you to design your meal should start doing. The highlight of the truck: you can pay by credit card! awesome! A slight gripe: I can buy a can of coke for less, or a 20oz of diet coke for more? I just wanted a simple can of diet coke. The price seems to be a bit on the high side, and while I'm generally a person who can look past the idea of eating from a truck (because this one has really high quality ingredients) I certainly spend more at frites n meats than I do grabbing lunch somewhere brick and mortar near my office in midtown. read more

This is the BEST food truck out there!!!! The variety and quality of these burgers are beyond compare. Since their appearance at the LIC Food Truck lot this summer I have been singing their praises. Seriously, you guys. First Thing's First Burger: I had gruyere cheese and the "complimentary vegetables" and it was delicious. The meat was cooked well and seasoned well. It wasn't overly greasy so I didn't make a mess (hey, I'm messy. so?) but still good, if you can imagine that possibility. And it tasted fresh. I've eaten many a burger in my day; the thing was just a well executed burger. Bonus points: I didn't feel like the epitome of gluttony when I finished eating the burger. It might be because I cut it in half to eat it. Fries: perfect combination of crispy and...not crispy; tasted like potatoes but not in a bad way; not too greasy; perfectly salted; didn't require any sauce to be enjoyable. Also, the individual fries looked like they each came from a good home: clean looking, not over fried, straight lines. It's now the summer, the Season of Interns. For the uninitiated, the financial district (where I caught the truck) always has tons of tourists in addition to all the people who work there. Interns are like...an influx of eager and earnest tourists. This all equals madness at lunch. This long line was worth it. Not only was the burger super tasty (espesh' for the price), but the truck's system was STUPID organized and worked like a well-oiled machine (hahaha, 'cause it's in a truck...). The truckers (for lack of a better word) were SO nice, and SO accommodating: they gave us free-birthday-fries and cut my burger in half for me to support my illusion that that meant less calories. The truck was super clean and the truckers were very friendly and efficient at the same time. There are a ton of sauces that you can purchase for the fries and the burger. Lots of aioli sauces and such. There is also a good selection of meats that you can choose. The grass-fed beef that I had was the cheapest option and it was more than good enough for this discerning pallet. My coworkers go to this place religiously, so I had lofty expectations for it heading in. I went fairly basic with the burger, and added bacon for good measure. The burger was really undercooked for my liking, and I didn't find out till after that you can ask them to cook it a certain way. I suppose I'm used to servers asking me how I want it cooked. Anyway, the parts that were cooked sufficiently were good, and the bacon took it to a new level. Another knock I had is that they gave me the wrong bun. Although it was still good, I'd have much preferred the one I ordered. For those unsure of spending the extra $3 and change on the fries, channel your inner Nike and just do it. They are fantastic, and they give you enough for an entire meal by themselves. For what it's worth, I would probably have given them 4 stars if the burger was cooked more and the bun was correct. I enjoy a good burger and Frites 'n Meats serves up a mighty tasty one! However, my total weakness is for French fries and these boys know how to do 'em right! Forget trying to transport them to your mealtime destination. You won't (and shouldn't) make it without diving into the addictively delicious cone of frites. I also highly recommend the garlic aioli as an indulgent condiment. I've been wanting to try this truck for some time. I was in the city so I hunted them down. I ordered their angus patty on a brioch bun with gruyere cheese. Raw onion, pickle, tomato, mayo and ketchup topped it off. My burger was cooked med rare. I am fine with that, but I know many people that wouldn't have eaten it. They seem to use good ingredients and it was very tasty except for a part of the patty was burnt. Not a tasty char, but a not so tasty burnt. Luckily it was just a small part of the burger.
