However...we were waiting for at least 15 minutes by the bar for the bartender to notice us but alas, other customers (even the ones that came in after us) got served first. It was already throwing us off but we still wanted to try the place. Next bump on the road was that the sharable drink we got was so small! On the menu, it said that it was good for 2-3 people but wow, the size of that drink could be a for a single person and not more. It was very disappointing but it was good we tried so we wouldn't question it. We were here back in March thinking it was Hell or High Water. It wasn't a bad experience then at all. We got seats right in front and the drinks were fine. When we realized that we hadn't actually visited the Tiki bar, we wanted to got back when we had a chance. We got the chance over Thanksgiving. I just posted a review of HOHW. It was not good. This place was just as bad. It was busy but not even close to being the busiest bar I've seen. No reason to ignore someone clearly drink-less and waiting to order. My wife stood at the bar for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement. There were at least 3 bartenders behind the bar with one dude working right in front of her. We gave up and bailed. The only good part was the doorman giving our cover charge back when we left 15 minutes after entering. And the decor was cool. I really wanted to like it even more the second visit. Even though we live about 30 minutes away, we make it a point to visit every chance we get, especially for their fun themes--whether it's Halloween, Christmas, or anything else, we're there! This is one of my favorite spots. I love the tongue-in-cheek decor and maybe not so tongue-in-cheek too. The drinks are great, if on the pricier side. But that's not unusual for these kind of crafted drinks. The bar also has a fun, rotating event calendar with themed nights and pop-ups. They do add an automatic gratuity, which they are fully transparent about, and I don't necessarily mind. Sometimes, though, the bartenders can be a bit--I don't want to say unfriendly--but maybe a bit aloof. We've also equally had some really rad bartenders, too. If you've eaten in Pueblo, Colorado, you'll know the staples like Sloppers and Passkeys Sandwiches. Honor Farm does a nice job at paying homage to the unique Pueblo-style culinary. The Grilled Cheese with a green chili was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Pueblo may not be known for their Grilled Cheese but this was so surprisingly good. The green chili really added the perfect spice/heat. We also ordered the smothered green chili burger which brought such fond memories of the Pueblo food scene. The only area of the bar that wasn't lined w seats, only the bar back is standing there so nope can't buy drinks from him. We ordered the regular samosas and they were good but they weren't warm on the inside. The fries were out of this world...some of the best I've ever had. The kerala fried chicken sandwich was good. I came out to Denver for work. I found a few places to see and all of them were somewhat a disappointment EXCEPT HONOR FARM. I walked in and immediately felt the vibes of this place. New style horror fans, light gothy/rockabilly style with a tongue in cheek kind of sense of humor. At this point you're either in or out. If you're in, you're in for a blast! I got a cocktail from the list, a "PEW PEW PEW" (make sure you use finger guns when you order!) and later got a beer with my food. My bartender was fun and had a great energy. Drink was on point! The atmosphere is special and unique, so if you're a person who thinks "eh, normal shit isn't for me" then this is your place! Some friends and I decided to check this place out for some holiday themed drinks, but we didn't get the best first impression. We had made reservations upstairs at Hell or High Water Tiki Bar, but when we went upstairs and checked in with the hostess we were essentially informed that they had double booked reservations and had no space for us. They told us some groups would be leaving soon so they'd let us know when there was an opening for us to come back up - that never happened. So, we went back down the stairs and decided to get a drink at Honor Farm instead. The decor here is very fun and unique, I kept noticing new things that would make me laugh. That said, the service was very slow. Cocktails were expensive and had a 20% gratuity automatically applied to your bill. That's totally fine, but this isn't made obvious so some friends accidentally tipped again on top of the bill that already had a tip applied. I feel like they should verbally tell you when handing you the bill that there is already a tip applied, so you can then decide if you want to add more or not rather than being tricked into double tipping. I got a Nightmare Before Christmas drink that was similar to an espresso martini and pretty tasty. A couple friends got the drink that comes in the skull glass and were unhappy with their choice though. After spending about $20 for that drink, they were frustrated to discover that it was almost completely ice, and was able to be finished after a few sips. I don't ever write reviews, but last night my girlfriend and I experienced some truly gross bar etiquete and after a lot of deliberation I have to say something. To be completely transparent, we're both huge fans of The Electric Cure and have been many times, we had never been to Honor Farm or HOHWT and decided to end our 8th anniversary celebration by stopping in to try some cocktails out. We walk in around 8:30 and there aren't many people inside. Most of the empty places to sit are blocked with the glasses and dishes of previous patrons. We notice there's only one bartender, so we move to the bar make things easier on him. He's at the opposite end of the bar talking to a couple. We're constantly making eye contact but he isn't moving from his conversation or signaling that he'll be with us soon. After over 5 minutes of sitting at the bar that still has dirty dishes and uncollected payment slips on it he comes over, sticks his hand out to us and asks "What are your names again?". We shake his hand and introduce ourselves, but we've never met before. His name is Jake. It was odd, but at least we can order now. I get a mezcal drink and my girlfriend is interested in their Cosmo but has a rosemary allergy so she opts for a gin drink instead. The entire time, he's running his hands over his face and through his hair, on his stomach, he's slurring his words, he's rubbing his hands together, and he's beginning to say things just to suddenly stop and start all over again. The couple from the other side of the bar gets up to leave and Jake pulls them into conversation again trying to get them to try Malort. He pours shots from a tap and spills it all over his hands that are holding the shot glasses and hands it to them. They look visibly uncomfortable as they declined the malort but it was handed to them anyway. They try it, they say they hate it, he says "You're welcome." He still hasn't started on our drinks. He's still touching his hair/slurring. Almost another 5 minutes pass for this entire exchange to happen and he finally grabs some bar tools. They look like they've been used as they're visibly foamy. These are going to be the shakers our drinks are made in. In trying to make conversation with us and make the drinks at the same time, he knocks over a syrup and a thinner mystery liquid. While making our drinks he asks what we want to order. He starts apologizing, supposedly his opener really screwed him today which is why everything is a mess. Jake looks at a girl at the bar and asks her if she wants his last cigarette. She accepts, he stops making our drinks to get a cigarette that he puts in his mouth. She doesn't have a lighter so he offers her one from behind the bar. The one next to all the ingredients that go into the drinks. Neither of them can get the lighter to work. Cig is still in his mouth. He's trying to light it from behind the bar but gives up, giving her the cigarette from his mouth and the bar lighter, telling her to take it with her and bring it back. Love that. It feels like an eternity as we're quietly watching him go through the process of making our drinks with dirty equipment. Then it gets worse. He grabs a 2 inch cube with his bare hands and holds it in his palm to use an ice brand on it. The cube for my drink being held in the hand that hasn't been washed of his hair or face or his stomach or the malort or the cigarette or god knows what else, and when he's done branding the cube, he puts it near his mouth and provides one last round of seasoning by blowing all of the melted water off of it before plopping the cube into my rocks glass. Did the dirty shakers previously touch any rosemary? Who knows. He drops off our drinks, but they lost their value to us long before we ever received them. We pay and retreat. We can't end our anniversary on a note like that, so we cautiously move upstairs to HOHWT. There are 3 staff up there. A tall blonde girl, a short girl with black hair, and a guy with long black hair. It's much busier up here with the only two places to sit being at the bar. We can see the drinks being made, they're clean and organized. We stay for 2 rounds of drinks in a vibe similar to that we expect and enjoy from Electric Cure. It now makes why no one is downstairs and everyone is upstairs. These 3 staff absolutely saved our night and most likely countless other patron's nights so any negativity in this review doesn't reflect on them or HOHWT at all. Only Jake. While HOHWT saved the night, I will absolutely never, ever get another drink from any of the spots within the unholy trinity if Jake is the one in charge of making it and I'm warning everyone else to do the same. read more
