The first time I stepped into Sam's was just a few days after my father's suicide in May of 2001... my ex & I really needed an escape from the stress & sadness. It was karaoke night, the bar was filled with friendly faces. We quickly felt welcomed, and enjoyed a night of "cheap therapy" with booze and singing. I love Sam's, from the iconic neon sign, the somewhat ancient decor, the friendly bartenders, particularly Char & Elsie, "Chief" the Chef who is just as much of a fixture there as the juke box, pool tables & Golden Tee game, and Art & Sid, the somewhat intimidating owners who watch over their regulars like fierce Papa Bears... get to know them and you'll find a couple of loveable Teddy bears. That's a photo of their beloved Dad above the bar watching over all. You'll find some decent bar food here, burgers, fries, wings, nachos and a great Italian beef sammie... but if you ask nice, you might get Art to make you his Greek Chicken Wings... which I have dubbed FGGW's for (e)ffin' Good Greek Wings... this is the food of Greek Gods, crispy, lemony, flavor bombs served with a side of cool, creamy tzatziki sauce. Opah! This is my "Cheers," a place where "everyone knows my name," where hugs, jokes, shots, laughter are freely shared and enjoyed. The Friday karaoke night that J.R. use to run, has been passed on to Steve, and he does a great job without hogging the mike as many KJs are compelled to do... so you can expect to sing at least 2 songs and sometimes many more depending on the crowd. Have I mentioned that I love this place? :)

Great service and food! Get Jared and Lisa if you have a chance! They took their time with us and were a real joy to be around! You can tell they take passion in their job and they are a great representation of the company :). -Mike

Holy awesome green Chile. Just the right amount of spice. Like, really, the stuff is crazy tasty. My New Mexican bestie even agrees, and he's crazy elitist! Otherwise, a typical dive bar (garage!) with a weird Freddie Krueger statue outside (see pic). Would go back for the chile, and the creepy mustachioed man watching me eat and flirt*. (see pic). *he isn't Sam, he's George. Ask for the history.

I went in looking for an old friend. I left with so many more. Sang karaoke and had a blast listening to others. I give it a 11 out of 10.

I think it is a huge plus that a restaurant must be comfortable..I drink coffee after each meal and with this weather some places make my routine impossible. They offered a decent lunch deal of a burger and beer. I eill be back when not on my lunch hour. I had the tinga tacos, PERFECT! Ingas is generous with the protein and you can tell it is made from scratch, including the green salsa. Service was attentive and frankly delightful. I will be back!

One of the tables was very close to the stage and the stage had a black rug which almost completely obscured the stage corner. She fell twice (shw had only had one drink). The first time she fell, the waitress scoffed and said to me that she didn't understand why that kept happening since there were lights around it. No one on staff checked in on her either. Come to find out, she was the fourth person to fall in 30 minutes, and all the others were 50+. One more person fell after her, and then she tripped and fell again, spilling her first and only drink. A different waitress came over to check on her after someone from our party went and told the staff (who saw the whole thing). She was bleeding from the first fall and was finally offered a bandaid and a free shot. Our party made the decision to move the table by the stage in front of the other tables because there was plenty of room. One of our friends is a bar manager and asked staff for a wet floor sign or something to mark it. They did not have one. We put a chair there to mark it and servers immediately moved it to get around and did nothing else. Asked for the check later and waited 15 minutes while the server took shots and chatted with customers. She like the food and vibes of Inga's but we are both incredibly frustrated with the service last night. Her knee is scraped up and very swollen. She wasn't even offered ice, and I don't think anyone else who fell was offered anything, even a bandaid.

Started with guac and plantain chips that set a promising tone. Most of the group ordered the bison burger, medium, for $40. The meat looked closer to med/rare. The fries were over cooked and cold so we requested different ones which arrived promptly, warm, and softer. Those who ordered steaks or fish were happy! Said their food was flavorful. Overall, I don't know that I would return for the seemingly overpriced food; but would return for drinks and apps.

It's a really solid neighborhood place with a good happy hour and fun daily specials (like Wednesday wine night). The atmosphere can also surprise you in the best way -- when the piano player is there, it adds a really nice touch and makes it a surprisingly romantic date spot. Food-wise, the chicken fingers are some of the best I've had. Crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The thin fries are amazing too -- the kind you keep eating long after you're full. The gravy and honey mustard are perfect pairings with the chicken and fries. The BBQ sauce, though, I could personally do without. Overall, a great neighborhood spot with good food, good specials, and a fun atmosphere.

Wow, my yesterday's visit to this historic park was so mesmerizing. It's because of their annual…read more(?) "Bright Nights" (originally a lantern festival.) It is said that they unveil a brand new theme each year and this year's theme appears to be focused on some Eastern cultures such as cherry blossom and bamboo forest with pandas. Not that I have been to many lights shows and yet I must say that I have never seen anything quite like this as far as my recollection is accurate. In its 12-acre land, the installations of lantern lights are everywhere. After 8:30pm or so when it's dark, the illuminations from the lanterns are glowing brighter than Las Vegas' illuminations (LOL - why am I comparing this to Las Vegas!!) According to the park's website, some of the sculptures are 23-foot tall (such as the cherry blossom gate.) It's currently open from Wednesday through Sunday until October 5th. And last night's was one of the adult-only nights where you must be 21+ to enter (I believe the next and last such night is Sept 17th. And this writing is as of late August of 2025.) I am already curious as to what the next year's theme is going to be. There is a centralized bar, some food vendors, a stage where a performer performs, and a DJ booth. Great for family time, girls' night or date night. Helpful staff were working tirelessly to assist all visitors. Although about 1,300 tickets were sold last night, it was never super jammed packed. There is still time to visit this enchanting light show. Not only for the locals but definitely one of the must-visit attractions for out-of-staters as well.
