Following my friend's suggestion, I came by earlier to try and catch their fresh beef curry around 11:30. Their small parking lot was already full so we parked in front of the store temporarily. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of the small store was also bustling with patrons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything smelled so good and watching them assemble the fruit cake was such a treat![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We decided not to eat outside the store and went to the park in the back so by then the beef curry bread and bacon cheddar braid had cooled significantly. The cheddar cheese was so crispy and contrasted with the soft bread and bacon. The beef curry filling is just simply ground beef (no potatos which was a slight let down for my partner). The azuki Malasada was very very sweet (due to the sugar coating) and since it's such a thin layer of sweet red bean I couldn't taste it much other than the sugar. I saw this bakery on a YouTube channel I was watching and made this a stop. This was a perfect bakery to stop in after a 5 mile walk at centennial park. For me, no trip to Seattle is complete without a trip to Fuji Bakery. I'm incredibly envious of the locals who get to indulge on the sugary treats and the endless carbs that this place is known for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is is limited to a couple of two seaters outside, but that's really it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is also a small lot to the side of the building, and my last two visits have been on the street along Elliot Ave. The latter is not generally recommended, but doable in a pinch. Their ube and matcha malasadas are excellent. The breading is light and the ube filling is perfect. Their danishes may look ordinary, but they're delightful and indulgent. The variety of croissants are impressive, but the butter and almond croissants stand out for their simplicity and addictive qualities. It might sound dramatic, but the sandos are so good that I'd come back just for those. The egg salad sando is an instant foodgasm and the chicken katsu is superb. The price is reflective of the quality (i.e. a tinge expensive) of the pastries and the staff is fairly good about recommendations and are quite good about moving the line along. There were probably 4-5 parties ahead of us and the line moves fairly fast depending on how much people order. We sampled one of each Malasada - Crunchy Cream - Ube - Lilikoi (passion fruit) - Matcha - Strawberry The fillings were light and fresh tasting. They had a good amount of filling as well. I wish they had other options besides sugar tossed malasada's. I enjoy mine powdered or plain, which is probably why the crunchy cream was my most liked of them all. The beef curry had a slightly intense curry flavor. Borderline too intense for some, but for me it was quite enjoyable. I wasn't a fan of their hot dog bread. Maybe because there wasn't much hot dog. On weekends, there's often a line in the morning, and things do sell out faster, as one would expect. My favorites: the crunchy cream filled malasada (great texture! not too sweet!), the canele (perfect crust, perfectly set interior, also not too sweet, and very reasonably priced!) Things you can skip: the chocolate almond croissant is a little too sweet and strangely gooey for me. Also, be careful with their payment system. There's a button by the numbers to add double zeros when tipping, which I thought would turn $0.05 into $5.00 but instead it made it $500. Whoops! The staff behind the counter were very sweet and understanding about my error and refunded me the excess so I could tip a little more reasonably! They said it happens somewhat regularly haha. We went at 2pm on a Saturday and I was worried the selection would be greatly picked over (as is the case for many bakeries) but they still had a ton of selection and there was no line. There are a few tables outside where you could sit, but given the location right off a very busy road, I would say you are better off grabbing some items and then heading to a nearby park in Magnolia, Queen Anne or along the water for better ambiance while you eat. We ordered multiple items including the Ube Malasada (my favorite item overall), Matcha Cruffin, Beef Curry, Chicken Katsu Sando, Bacon Cheese Braid and a Blueberry Lemon Curd Croissant. I cannot stress enough how delicious everything was! The bread tasted so fresh and the flavors were strong. To top it all off, their prices are very reasonable.
