If this was two years ago I would have given five stars and raved about the quality of the food that I had ordered. Well that was two years ago, those owners and staff have moved on, and new owners have come with new staff and put their own change into this location. I'm not really sure if it was for the better. My second to last visit here I ordered over $100 in takeout food for myself and four coworkers. I ordered two sides of scallops, 2 sides of hibachi noodles, and a few appetizers. I wasn't told over the phone that I could of just ordered the scallop dinner with hibachi noodles which would have saved me a few dollars. I've feel as though I've been a loyal customer and I just feel ripped offed. My last visit here I came on a Saturday night after work, arrived around 10:22pm. When I walked in the host let's me know they've already stopped serving sushi. Other than sushi there's not many other options, but I sit down anyways. I felt rushed, appetizers came out 5 minutes after i ordered them. I ordered the Filet Mignon & Scallop dinner, which came out three minutes after I ordered. It was like they had a microphone at the table. Before I even saw my waiter put the order in, it was coming out. Odd. 10:55 was when I walked out with left overs in hand. 30 minutes was the quickest dinner I've ever had. When I asked about dessert my server Michael said the kitchen was closed, everyone was gone. How? When their hours say they close at 11PM? My son and I visited on nov. 30.Michael was our server. The food value and service rate 4 stars. What gives this review a fifth star is how management handled the two well rounded customers in the booth next to us. Non stop these entitled quarter ton specials spoke very loudly for everyone to hear how their meal wasn't up to their standards. They demanded to be " comped "after finishing their entire meal. The server explained that since they ate their whole meal that all they would do is give them a dessert. They ate the dessert and rolled out the door stating that they will post this online. I have been there a couple times with colleagues and i have to give it a good score for the quality of the sushi offered. The rice is moist, which is very important to a good sushi. The fish is very good. Perfect couple is my favorite speciality roll, i liked that the sauce is not all over the top of the roll and more at the bottom so it doesn't overcome the maki. First, I'd like to say that the service was great. No complaints here about that. But the food...I've just had better, honestly. I know that Fuji Grill is widely popular for their hibachi, but we decided to some of their other options this time. I started off with a California Roll (sushi), and tried it with the soy paper instead of seaweed for $1 extra. It was pretty good, but the crab in the roll tasted pretty fishy, so I ended up taking it out and just enjoying the roll veggie style. I then had an order of the Rocking Shrimp as a second course. It was sub par. Cold. I was honestly pretty disappointed with this. I think they just make large batches of this at once and use it for the whole day. There was no way it was made to order. I did like their use of the lettuce leaf as a little bowl, though. As my main course I had the stir fried noodles. They were good, but not outstanding. I've had much better elsewhere. read more

Long post warning....Today Candice Marie Barlow and I went to Fuji Grill in Niagara Falls. They have indoor dining so why not. Shortly after we were seated two white women were seated across from us. After our food was served it appears as though the older lady's demeanor is changing and getting more aggressive as dinner continued. As she's finishing her food she's throwing her food toward us. I'm thinking it's because she's so inebriated (she ordered 2 glasses of wine during dinner snd appeared inebriated upon arrival) that she's missing her plate. Because she wouldn't be throwing food at us right? Candice goes to reach for her wallet to pay and notices food all on her bag. She immediately asks for the waiter. The waiter comes over and she shows him the bag and explains to him the lady was throwing food at us. Like throwing food? It's already a risk for us to choose to go to dinner but for her to throw her food with her hands during a pandemic is infuriating. The lady hears us explaining to the waiter that she threw food at us and she proceeds to say "You don't belong here. We don't agree with your ideas" We never said a word regarding racism, politics or anything. She's screaming at us saying "This is what you have to deal with when you come out". At this point both of us are fired up. Arguing back at the lady because I cannot believe she said this! As her daughter is dragging her out of the restaurant she continues to exclaim how she knew the owner of the restaurant. Meanwhile as she's walking out, the table across from us (which is full of white people) is screaming at us telling us to "be quiet" and "we got what we deserved" When they knew none of what truly happened. No one intervened, not our server, the manager, no member of the staff or owner came to diffuse the situation. The woman flipped the bird and walked out. Its an entire table of Caucasian men and women yelling at us and it's just me and my friend. We're alone together. How am we supposed to take on this entire group ourselves. What if they do something to us when we walk out this restaurant. All thoughts racing through my mind. The bus boy (whom is a young black man) comes over to us, whom of which was not our server, to explain our bill has been taken care of. Why was he the one of come over. Not our server, not the owner or manager. It does make me feel that they sent him over to be of some sort of relatability because of our skin color. However, He saw the whole thing happen, and came to apologize on behalf of the manager. His exact words were "I'm sorry but this is just something that we have to deal with as people ya know." For a young black man to be accepting of this behavior saddens me. It's 2020 and we still are supposed to just accept it? You watch racism on the news. You see it on social media. But when it happens personally it's a different experience. I have never felt so saddened. So scared, angered, disrespected and frustrated at the same time! I went to Fugi Grill last night. We sat across from a mom and daughter. The mom seemed off but I thought she had some drinks. She started to fling FOOD in our direction. I called the waiter because as a Black woman, I already KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO THINK ITS ME. I call the waiter. I say she's throwing at us. Lucked into a private Hibachi chef at this location when we went for lunch. We passed on the multiple sake squirt bottle attempts and had a great meal. Where can you go for great food, and even a great show?! - Fugi Grill! John and I came in for lunch during the week and we left completely satisfied. Much like any typical Hibachi restaurant, we were seated at the grilling station patiently awaiting our chef to come over to prepare our food. First, the waitress came over to ask for our drink order, and then came out with them along with our salad. Not a huge fan of iceberg lettuce, I still gave it a go - the ginger dressing that topped the lettuce was pretty good. A few minutes later, outcomes our chef (fully equipped with our food, his cooking utensils and a cowboy hat). Once the rice his the grill, and you heard that sizzle, that's all she wrote! He placed the veggies on the grill and cut them into bite sized pieces as they cooked; zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and onions OH MY! The onion had to be doused once the flames hit, giving us quite the show. Next, our proteins hit the grill. I ordered the Shrimp and Salmon lunch combo, and John asked for Shrimp and Steak. The salmon was a beautiful filleted cut and the steak looked pretty good as well. While those cooked, the rice was now done and the chef graciously placed it on our plates. We tasted it, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a task to have to wait for the rest of the food because it was that good! After a few bites, the veggies were done and were also plated (I would've been ok with a few less pieces of zucchini). They were glazed with this sauce that was also used on the rice (some sort of soy mix I'm assuming) that was delicious. The salmon was almost done - and it was glazed with a teriyaki that in my personal opinion overpowered the salmon and might have been better without it. John's steak was now being cut into bite sized pieces and cooked with some butter. Perfectly cooked (medium rare upon request), John enjoyed most of his meal. It was a lot of food, and well worth the price. He however didn't enjoy the steak as much as it began to cool on his plate, and said it was much better fresh off the grill. Eel avocado roll, salmon cucumber roll, izumi roll, sushi deluxe with a crunchy spice tuna roll, filet and shrimp hibachi meal with noodles and the grilled squid for an appetizer. All the food tasted very fresh and came out quick. The hibachi was cooked perfect to our liking. I asked for a side of the spicy mayo with the grilled squid.... I would highly recommend that! I was hungry and coming through for a late supper, about 7:30. The hostess seemed disinterested in seating me for anything but sushi or hibachi--I had to ask if they had a menu beyond the two "givens". Once I learned "yes", I was seated--the furthest in the back one could walk even though the place was virtually empty--don't know if that was a "dis" to my request or just a particular waitress's turn to serve. I ordered a popular rum drink, the Tokyo Mama for $6.50. It was good but mostly ice and no rum flavor. Miso soup came with my entree. It was fine tasting, but an odd yellow smoky color. I asked for the California roll appetizer. It was nicely sprinkled with fish roe but overly gooshy with avocado. $4. My entree was gyu don, a shaved beef over rice dish. The waitress came back to me to ask me if I really wanted this dish and had I ever had it before-- as they made it differently. I explained I had it in Japan and hoped theirs was similar. I guess I should've taken her question as a warning. The huge bowl was packed with sticky white rice (3 cups?) with a layer of well done, dried out shaved beef mixed with scrambled egg. The meal was essentially flavorless (soy sauce helped) and a poor rendition of a good Japanese dish. My evening cost $27 including tip. --ho hum food and disinterested staff. My husband insists on going to a Japanese place in every city we visit. We have been to at least 25 different spots. Of all the places we have dined this one is towards the bottom. UPDATE 8/19/2018: I revisited this spot and went for sitting in a booth with a traditional menu, as opposed to sitting at the hibachi grill and enjoying all the tricks. Our waitress was incredibly accommodating even though our group's dietary restrictions were very extreme and numerous (like to the point of near absurdity), and never appeared flustered, frustrated or without an answer. All our food was great, well-presented, and offered in a timely manner. This place definitely has the fundamentals down, even if it's not the hippest establishment around, and offers really satisfying sushi in addition to its hibachi. This is seriously a fun place to go out to eat. Dinner and a show. I'm so glad I tried it out. You have to try the hibachi the first time you go. It seems a bit expensive, but you do get a good portion of food and you're paying for the entertainment portion of the meal as well. Before our hibachi show I ordered off the drink menu and also ordered a sushi plate for an appetizer since I was pretty hungry. I ordered the tropical infusion drink first and then the blue sumo later on. The tropical infusion was a bit of a stronger drink while the blue sumo was a bit weaker. Both were pretty good. The sushi I ordered was pretty good as well. They have a pretty good sushi selection. The hibachi show was really fun and funny and like others have said the guy goes wild with the saki. You have several different choices for what kind of hibachi you want including a choice between rice and noodles and choice between several different meats. Like I said earlier, the portions are pretty good and I ended up taking some home with me. It seemed to me like this might be a fun place to grab a drink with some friends and hang out after work. Ordered from ubereats and specifically asked for extra soysauce and we didnt receive any, sushi is supposed to be eaten with soy sauce. Along with that, on the menu, the spicy ocean maki combination is supposed to be served with miso soup and yet again there was none. We also did not receive any chopsticks to eat the sushi with and edamame had no salt AT ALL despite having asked for extra salt.
