I was looking for an AYCE sushi place nearby that had decent reviews. I found it in Yelp - Fuji Sushi Buffet. Yelp made it very easy for me to book reservations, days in advance. I received a few texts beforehand asking me to confirm that I was still coming. I am so glad that I made a reservation for our party of 4 as there was a 2 hours waiting list even before they opened when I arrived. As soon as the doors opened, I waited one minute and than received a text that our table was ready. We were seated at a table which I preferred vs sitting at the bar with the rotating plates. Drinks, appetizers, and desserts were ordered from the server and special sushi rolls and such were to be ordered from the sushi bar. The line moved quick each time at the sushi bar. I love soft shell crab and fried oysters and had to order those. I have to say that this is what dropped my rating to a 4 star. There was so much batter that I could not taste much of the oysters nor the soft shell crab. I felt like I was eating fried dough. Next time, I will definitely not order those. On the positive side, I also really love sashimi and they had a combo plate you could try first. The sashimi was so fresh, so unexpected for me in a buffet setting. I especially liked the saba and hamachi so I ordered just plates of those after trying out the combo. I liked not having to order another combo plate to get my favorites. A plate or two of these already covered the cost of admission, considering how much sashimi generally goes for at a regular sushi restaurant. However if you simply want to eat boat loads of sushi and does not care much of the fish quality, then this place is good enough. I enjoyed the baked and grilled dishes. The grilled salmon the first time around was great as it was cooked to my perfection. The second time was a disappointment, it was rushed. I enjoyed the simple edamame, good size. And it's bottomless. Yea was not hot enough. Most of the sushi we got had so much rice. So you'll get full with rice. I love rice but not to this extent when I am park g for sushi. Not bad! Food is pretty good, most important thing is that the sashimi/raw fish on rolls were super fresh. The sushi rolls, miso soup, and gyoza were delicious! I came here with my family as soon as they opened for dinner and there was a looong line already. I love that it is all you can eat and you are free to get up and grab prepared rolls from the center and on the moving conveyer belt. You are also able to order specific rolls and sashimi plates from the chefs but it can get chaotic/crowded when everyone is in line all at once and waiting to order. Tables are also pretty close together and it can be difficult to grab the attention of staff since it's super busy. Great place for all you can eat sushi! read more

This place sucks! Very disappointed experience! This is not a sushi buffet like they portrayed to be. I recently went to this place with my husband for a date night. We were shock to find ourselves in a chaotic environment, fighting for our sushi due to the lack of communication about the system. People were getting mad and starting to cut in line. To top it off it took our server about 10 minutes to get our drink and serve us cold rice. People were cutting the line and no one would care. Honestly, don't waste your time and money to this place. I was pleasantly surprised to how nice this place was, how great the service and friendly staff was and most of all how great the food quality and amazing selection was for an all you can eat place!! I am so excited that I found this place and definitely will be coming back in the future, but next time I won't be eating quite so much! LOL. Dinner is only $32 and lunch is $25 with the only difference is that dinner has Smoked Salmon Nigiri, Tobiko Nigiri, Aburi Nigiri, Unagi Sashimi, and Ebi Sashimi. To me the $7 difference doesn't make sense since they have the ingredients offered as other parts of their lunch items The wait times are 1+ hour long on the weekends, but it moves pretty quick since their service is QUICK AND SPEEDY. You go to the ordering line and boom bam bong your order is out within like 1 minute. You ordered a lot? They remember that without writing anything down. For the price you pay, the quality of the fish is pretty good, heck, even the hot foods are pretty good too. Fried Oyster and Fried Soft Shell Crab?!?! Say less. What a disappointment. Terrible service and subpar food. We got there around 7 for dinner and the decor is like 70's Chinese cafeteria with the cheap plastic ware. By 7:53, the older Chinese lady who was running around pouring tea and telling other employees what to do, just came up to our table and took our soy sauce. I thought she was going to refill it, nope, she gave it to another table that just sat down. Then as the next few minutes passed, they were flipping up chairs and clearing condiments off the other tables. I had to ask them to bring our soy sauce back. By 8:07, they were trying to take our plates that we were still eating from. Then when I told them we aren't done. The lady came and took the soy sauce away! AGAIN! So by 8:20, we were just finishing the last few bites but talking too. The busboy and server had flipped up pretty much every chair except for our table and the family that just sat down at 7:53. The busboy comes to take our plates again and just grabs the sauce ramekin even though we were still eating. He goes "done?" With his index finger in the soy sauce while lifting it off the table. Never felt so rushed before and from such a casual cafeteria type "restaurant" a mall food court would've been more inviting and less intrusive. So aside from that. The sashimi was meh, nothing special. The cheap plates and low quality disposable chopsticks were just terrible. And my wife had red wine served to her in a nasty stained PLASTIC cup. Based on previous reviews we anticipated a wait. We placed ourselves on the waitlist via Yelp on our drive over and were seated immediately upon arrival. The host recommended sitting at the bar for our party of two for faster service. We ordered appetizers and drinks (extra) from our server. Specialty orders and rolls arrived quickly once ordered from the sushi bar. Since we were seated at the bar, some of our dishes were handed directly to us from the sushi bar without having to stand around the ordering station to wait. As a huge fan of sushi, I was looking for an AYCE sushi place because sometimes quantity over quality is the way to go to save some money. I needed a decent place that would give me my money's worth. After searching all over Yelp, I found this place and decided to give it a try. I arrived at 11:01 AM, and there was already a huge crowd waiting. I quickly joined the waitlist on Yelp because I'm not a fan of waiting (huge plus for any restaurants with waitlist feature on Yelp). They opened the doors a few minutes later, and we were seated pretty quickly. However, I soon realized that the waitlist didn't seem to matter too much--they prioritized reservations and phone calls instead, and everyone was rushing to get in. Thankfully, since I was already on the waitlist, my family and I got in fairly quickly. Oddly enough, even after leaving, my name was still showing as "on the waitlist" according to Yelp. When we first got in, I was a bit lost and confused. Everyone else rushed to form a huge line to grab rolls and place orders with the chefs. Honestly, this is where I deducted points for the following reasons: 1. The line for ordering formed in a small gap between two tables. Luckily, I wasn't seated there this time, but if I were, I'd definitely feel uncomfortable. The lines build up quickly and create a cramped, awkward situation. 2. The rolls were placed on a rack right in front of the ordering area, which didn't feel sanitary. People were talking over the rolls, and it seemed likely that droplets were landing on them. I didn't touch the rolls since I don't eat them anyway, but I imagine many others might avoid them for the same reason, leading to unnecessary waste. 3. The overall system felt inefficient. They had a lot of chefs working on rolls and taking orders but very few servers. I've been to plenty of AYCE places where they use tablets or order sheets to streamline the process, but here, each table gets 90 minutes for AYCE, and with so few servers, it took a while for someone to come by and explain how things worked. The worst part was the ordering line itself. It took up most of the time, and communicating with the chefs was challenging. They would start preparing your order immediately, even if you hadn't finished placing it. It seemed more practical to order a large amount at once to avoid going back in line and wasting time. At one point, I wasn't finished ordering, but I was told to go back in line, which didn't make sense. I had to explain that I wasn't done, and the chef allowed me to continue, but I was instructed to line up again next time. There was a lot of miscommunication, but I eventually got my food. The conveyor belt setup was also an issue. It surrounded the open kitchen, where: * Chefs were making food and taking orders. * Roll racks interrupted the conveyor belt. * People were grabbing food off the belt. Additionally, some diners were seated at the conveyor belt, which must have been uncomfortable. For the price, the food was decent, especially considering it's in the Bay Area. I just wish they could address the inefficiencies mentioned above by implementing a better system. This place has potential to be much better, but the poor service and confusing setup overshadow its strengths. To end on a positive note, here are some highlights: 1. Spicy Seared Salmon - The seared salmon, layered on lettuce and topped with jalapeños and sriracha, was excellent. The sear was perfect, and the flavors were well-balanced. 2. Octopus Sashimi - Many AYCE places have overly chewy or mushy octopus, but here it was just right. 3. Salmon Sashimi - The salmon sashimi was fresh and chewy, with the fatty parts melting in your mouth. 4. Unagi Sashimi - The unagi pieces were thick, juicy, and not overly fishy. For an AYCE place, the portions were generous and tasted fresh. 5. Hand Rolls - The unagi hand rolls were my favorite for the reasons mentioned above. However, they lacked gobo (pickled vegetables) and had a bit too much rice for my taste. The salmon skin wasn't crispy enough and was a bit mushy, but it was still enjoyable. 6. Oranges - This might sound odd, but the oranges at the end were sweet, refreshing, and a great way to finish the meal after eating so much sushi and sashimi. I will come back for the food when I do crave a lot of sushi or seafood but hope there will be better system implemented for everyone to enjoy this place! read more

This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the area!! I absolutely LOVE sushi and can say it is certainly my favorite food. So naturally, I will look for any reason to get sushi. This time, I happened to be in the Concord area and had bookmarked this spot a while ago. I've never actually been to an AYCE sushi restaurant before since I've always been concerned about the quality of fish, but this one seemed to have good reviews so I was eager to give it a try. I got on the Yelp waitlist around 5 minutes after the restaurant opened for dinner and it was already a 20 minute wait. However, by the time we arrived it was perfect. There was no bar seating available, so we got a table instead. Upon being seated, the waiter came and asked us what drinks we would like and then took our order for any items we wanted off the front of the menu. This included appetizers and desserts, so we opted for a grilled hamachi kama and edamame. From there, everything on the back is sushi so you can either grab it from the rotating bar or order it from the chefs behind the counter who prepare it right then and there. The bar was consistently full and had tons of different small plate options. There are also rolls to grab that are constantly being restocked. I was in sushi heaven and wanted to try everything!! Aside from the appetizers, the sushi I tried were the salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, hamachi nigiri, saba nigiri, unagi sashimi, spicy seared salmon plate, salmon aburi, lion king roll, and 3 other rolls I don't know the names of. We also got the jellyfish salad, seaweed salad, baby octopus, and sesame balls for dessert. I'm sure there are also some I'm forgetting but needless to say, this place had sooo many options to try and I was more than satisfied. Out of all the ones I got, I'd highly recommend the spicy salmon plate, salmon nigiri, and seared salmon aburi. Can you tell I absolutely love salmon? :) I really do think that out of all their raw fish though, the salmon is the most fresh tasting. The hamachi kama was really good too and so were the sesame balls for dessert. You can definitely eat your money's worth of sushi here. For the amount we ate, it would probably cost at least $100+ at a normal sushi restaurant. The quality here was even better than quite a few sushi spots I've been to, which makes it even more worth it. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu that I missed this time. All you can eat sushi! Sounds great but the execution is between good and very good. You will get a buffet experience here so temper your expectations. It's the only sushi buffet that I know of that serves sashimi platters, which was my go to. Tuna and Salmon Sashimi were plated very quickly at the chefs table. There is no toro so don't get too excited. The quality of the sashimi platter was decent. Hard to say it's good quality coming from a buffet but still it was good. We also ordered the hamachi and sake Kama. I tend to prefer the hamachi more but both were good. Service here was ok. It took awhile to get anything on the menu that required the waiter. The guys at the sushi bar were pushing out rolls and plates so I don't think there is much regard on how the dishes looked once presented. Nonetheless they only have a single avenue of ordering and handing out orders so kudos to them! To sum it up, food was good, service was ok. But mind you, the saving grace is the price of the buffet which is substantially lower than what I'd expect from a sushi buffet serving sashimi. I will be back someday! read more

I knew this place was around, but I only came in because it was my dad's birthday, and he wanted to check this place out. Even though the place can be packed, it's still quiet enough for groups to have a conversation, so it can be both loud and quiet. The food was ok. It's what you'd expect from a buffet. The servings weren't big, but it was whatever. It was just food you grab off a conveyer belt. I noticed that a lot of the sushi had fried shrimp and other fried foods in it, and that's just the buffet's way of getting rid of you faster. The sashimi plates were impressive, though. I can't complain about them. When you ask for a large, they give some pretty generous portions of food. I'm not sure if I'd come back, but it was serviceable. read more

The restaurant opens at 5pm and its best to get their early and sign in on an list that is available prior to opening. The lion king roll was overcooked and had questionable filling that makes me wonder why even put out such a farce of a sushi. The sashimi was slightly slimy and definitely was not suitable for human consumption. I ordered two hand rolls and the seaweed was stale and not edible at all. For all you can eat sushi it's okay. Don't expect any fine grade fish though. How this works is when you sit down you should know what you want as hot it's cause it takes awhile for the serve to come and take you order.. so order a lot. The conveyer belt has nigiri, rolls and fruits. If you are looking for the hand roll or the sushi roll you have to line up at the counter. Make sure you know what you are going to order cause those lines are sometimes of a wait. My party arrive here for dinner at 5pm right at opening. We requested to sit at the bar & was seated quickly(less than 10mins). To see the menu you need a device to scan QR code that on the table/bar. At the bar you get to customize how much wasabi & ginger you would like with your meal, this is a nice as I love adding lots of wasabi when I eat sushi. The quality of the fish is superb & various types of sushi's are place on the conveyor belt which is nice if you sit in the bar. This is one of the newer sushi buffets to come to the Concord/Pleasant Hill area, but it's actually an extension of a solid sushi buffet up North closer to Vacaville/Davis. While the quality wasn't up to par if you have had really good sushi, it wasn't anywhere close to bad either. Several specialty rolls and items were pretty tasty (we ordered the soft shell crab), and the items up for grabs were also well made. My only complaints was the lack of trays rotating the bar seating (but we went on a slow Thursday semi-close to closing so that may have been the reason), and there were a few rolls that weren't that good, but for the value, it's worth it.
