Loved this place. We had the tatami room for a small group dinner and couldn't have been happier. Our server and bartender were perfectly present when we needed them, the sushi was fresh and plentiful, and the the drinks were cold and consistent. We'll be back regularly. read more

Word of advise: Uber eats is ruining your business. Your customers who are dining is walking out cause it take 1/2 hr to get an appetizer served. Take a look at your cross the street neighbor... they don't do takeout just for that reason. Focus on in house. Also, don't hire kids who don't have any clue of what customer service is! Lovely homey feeling family good times. This place was totally packed on a Friday night and had a little bit of wait. Upon ordering, we waited maybe 15 minutes before our appetizers were brought out. Most were really delicious (some were not quite what I'd expect). The fish was very fresh and the citrus roll was a fantastic combo of flavors that really accented each other. After reading reviews of the curry, I ordered the curry but it really wasn't wow-ing like you'd expect genuine japanese curry to be. This restaurant used to be one of our family's favourites. Reliable and good food. We decided to go there for our anniversary before attending a show. Arrived at 7.45. Ordered immediately.  Miso soup arrived right away. At 8.15. Our food had not arrived. Waitress was apologetic stating ours was next.   We waited and waited.  Almost every table was eating. Began to wonder if we had been singled out for some unknown reason. At 8.30 pm waitress apologized saying 5 more minutes. At which point we got up to leave. Our show was downtown at 9.15 There was no manager to perhaps come out? Apologize? Offer us a drink? Some sushi to bide us over. I was in tears.   We headed over to our show and skipped dinner. Never felt so humiliated!!! It had been awhile since we had been there and I do see the reviews are now mixed.  Trouble ahead no doubt. This used to be our favorite sushi restaurant in the International District, although after a change in management (and most of the employees) the quality has really diminished. We used to come at least once a week: the food was amazing, the prices reasonable, and the service top notch. These days, sadly, it's just not the same restaurant. While the employees that remained are as wonderful as they ever were, the food quality is poor. On our last (and likely last) visit, one of our rolls was presented as such to hide that it was essentially composed of remnants, and the amount of mayo included in their rolls has gone from reasonable to huge (to the tune of having to send back hand rolls). I really admired the handwork here, especially for the price, but it seems that too has gone out the window. Seattle is a port town, and the fish is awesome across the board. You can't go wrong enjoying fresh off the boat fish in this city, but you could definitely do better that Fuji. Maneki and Tsukushinbo are both less than a block away, and Shiros a short bus, rail, or car ride. I really hope Fuji figures itself out, but at least for now, there are far better sushi restaurants. read more

I really loved this place and our waiter was a wonderful guy. I brought my family here for a nice sitdown dinner. We ordered a dynamite roll, and a spicy tuna roll and it had a good panko crunch to it. My favorite was a 'dynamite' appetizer had an amazing taste. The sushi and other dishes were quite tasty. However, the abysmal service means that we won't be going back. We had 5 p.m. reservations for two adults and two small kids. It took a very long time to even see a server, and everything we needed after that (water, extra tofu for the kids, extra napkins), we had to hunt someone down for. It was exhausting. The waitress barely had a working command of English, which made things extra challenging. For example, I ordered "a bowl of rice," and she said, "Do you want a bowl or do you want rice?" I said, "Both. A bowl with rice. Or a dish with rice." There have to be better sushi restaurants in the ID and I intend to find them. One plus is that they do have a parking lot not just behind the building, but close, and they validate parking for you. Still, I'd rather pay for parking and have decent service. read more

We tried this restaurant before. We like it so we come back. When we came in we have been told that they were at last call time, and we ordered after we had seat within 5 mins. At that time was around 9 pm BUT we waited 25 minutes for the bento and 4 pieces of sushi, and we were eating and wait the rest orders until there was nobody in the main dining room, we still do not get the order of DX happy and another roll And the waiter just brought the check back without checking if we already have all our orders. One of the best sushi joint in Seattle! One of my struggles with the California roll is the fish eggs gets all over my mouth because it's on the outside. But their California roll has the fish eggs inside instead!! Totally genius. Their nigiri s are so fresh and delicious. They have happy hour but it's mostly cater to fried or cooked food, which doesn't help you much if you're just here for sushi. Make sure you are ready to stay for a while if it's busy in the restaurant. But their servers were so thoughtful that they gave us free Miso soup and kept checking up on us if we're doing ok. read more

I came here on a date today to get sushi. We walk in and we were waiting for about 10 minutes to be seated. The first guy greeted us then left then and a waitress came and said are you dining in ? and was having an attitude like she was stressed out. We waited longer then we were seated and we ordered. It took them about 15 to 20 minutes to make salmon sashimi. My date got his chicken teriyaki almost right away and it was cold by the time my sushi came out. I had to ask for napkins which was annoying. Our waitress wasn't very nice and seemed very stressed out. From reading other reviews I think they might also be racist since my date was black and I could see other customers getting better service. read more

This sushi place is very nice and clean. This was my first time here. The server sat us down pretty quickly and asked us if we need any beverages. The sushi is a bit pricey but if you're willing to pay, it's not a bad spot to eat. Presentation of the food was on point, and it was served in a timely manner. Best sushi we've had in Seattle with the exception of Shiros! The spinach in the gomai was perfectly cooked, balanced by the perfect amount of peanut sauce to complement bitter and sweet. The otoro melted in our mouths and the hamachi cheek, a chef's special, is outstanding. The texture of the meat was so different for fish, like crab meat, and served with a delicious au jus. Decent Japanese food for a good price. It's not the best I've ever had, but if you're craving Japanese food, this place will definitely hit the spot. I got the dinner bento box, which seemed to be the most bang for my buck and is perfect for an indecisive eater like me. I got the veggie udon and sushi, which came with one salmon, one tuna, and one shrimp nigiri, and three pieces of tuna roll. The food was good just not the right food ordered the deluxe sushi got the deluxe tempura sent it back but they came and send it comes with your order ‍. Waited 20 min asked about my sushi order and she told me I did not order that. So just ok. Tempura was good the Service was slow never cam back to see if we needed more drinks or any thing. I would pass there are better places with in walking distance. The waitress did add a plate of mochi ice cream for my kid for free so that's a plus. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews aren't better. Maybe their prices changed or something and its maybe a shade more expensive than other places in the Seattle international district like Maneki, but the quality of the sushi is way, way better. You get what you pay for and I'm not a big fan of the quantity over quality approach when it comes to sushi. It isn't worth it for me to pay a lower price for rubbery, tasteless fish at other places, which aren't even always cheaper. Anyway, bottom line is that Fuji is a good balance- a place to go for sushi that actually tastes good without shelling out major cash for the really high end stuff. Highly recommend their yuzu and salmon roll. It is one of the best rolls I've had in a while and is almost like salmon sushi with built-in ponzu. Unlike weird concoctions like spicy mayonnaise this roll features more traditional, light, flavors while still doing something new. I didn't think the grilled matsutake was worth the price, but to be fair, I'm also not a big fan of matsutake in general. The nigiri was delicious! We got saba, geoduck, salmon, and flounder. The fish to rice ratio is good and the fish is very fresh. Also recommend the negitoro. The tuna melts in your mouth! read more

Delicious, fresh and well-prepared sushi. We ended up here when the also-well-reviewed place across the street had a 30+ minute wait, and we weren't disappointed. We got seated right away at the sushi bar, with the obligatory hot towels to start you off. We ordered some special shrimp steamed dumplings and edamame to start. Otherwise we stuck to the traditional items on the sushi/nigiri menu - maguro, hamachi, saba, sake. (tuna, yellow-tail, mackerel, salmon). All of it was perfectly proportioned, clearly super-fresh and the right size. You can tell the difference when the sushi chef knows what they're doing in terms of how they cut the fish and roll the rice. We also had a special role that had spanish mackeral, sriracha and some other goodies - was delicious and a nice change from the spicy tuna or tempura-style rolls I usually order. They have a "tatami room" with two tables that seats 10 people - you can reserve it at no extra charge if your group is big enough, when you make a reservation. Next time, I'll order the omakase and see what happens :-) read more

Derek was in the ID getting a haircut so we decided to go to Maneki for dinner. We went over there around 6 and was told that the first available table would be at 7:45. Two other women checking in were also shocked with the wait, so they started to spout out other sushi places in the area. One of which was Fuji Sushi. Fuji turned out to be right across from Derek's barber shop. It is underneath an apartment building and could easily be missed. We were pleasantly surprise by the size and cleanliness of this place. We ordered a miso black cod, a bento box, a couple of nigiris, and a spicy tuna roll...and yes, it was just the two of us. The rolls were ok, but everything else was delicious. This place is definitely a worthy alternative to Maneki. read more

If you want a restaurant that reminds you of ones you'll find in Japan, with subdued neutral decor, excellent quality food, attentive service, and at not too expensive prices, go here. I just went into to Fuji Sushi on a lark while near chinatown. Sitting at the sushi bar (10 chairs) I struck up a conversation with the Chef, who happens to be the owner, Yoshihiro Saito! He has owned this place for 8 years and been in the U.S. for 20 years. He goes back to Tokyo 4 - 5 times a year. He is a smooth pro, who can make excellent sushi while paying attention to the service thoughout the house. The staff is Japanese fluent as well. 90% of the patrons (who filled the tables by 7pm on a Tuesday) were older Nissei locals, Japanese ex-pat families, or other asians. What makes this place exceptional are the daily specials of sashimi, sushi, fried and other dishes you just won't find anywhere. This day had Live Flounder, Red Snapper, Saltwater Eel, Japanese Mackerel, KurumaEbi, and Kohada. In sashimi, they ran between $10 - $15; in sushi, they were $3 - $3.50 each piece. I tried several and they were fresh and delicate, supposedly flown in from Japan. The standard sushi, (maguro, hamachi, sake) were also fresh and great quality and priced at $5 - $7 for 2 pieces. Some other specials included shishamo (broiled Japanese smelt, $4.50) and Cold Salmon Shabu Shabu Salad with special Ginger Vinagrette sauce ($8.00), or sake steamed clams ($6.50). They also have a full menu of hand rolled sushi (but not too gimmicky, as these are not truly Japanese) and other popular dishes and bento boxes at reasonable prices, as well as simple Japanese comfort food like Udon and Donburi. If you've been to Japan, and appreciate the simple elegance, high quality fresh seafood, attentive service, reasonable prices and the spirit of an independant chef/owner, you should go here. I recommend it, and if you talk to Saito-san, tell him Edo sent you. read more

My cousin and I were looking for a certain Sushi place we had heard great things about. We wanted to grab a bite before the Mariners game, but the other place that is around the from Fuji Sushi was closed. We stumbled across this Fuji Sushi, and were hesitant at first, because the place has an office building facade. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very warm japanese atmosphere. The spicy tuna, eel, and salmon was great. Very very tasty, and full of flavors. The waiter was friendly and very helpful on the choices, and the hostess was gorgeous. I like to call this my Maneki backup because its literally half a block away. That said, the food is good and prices are very reasonable and unlike Maneki there isn't always a line and truthfully the service is a bit better. Their seafood dynamite is very tasty and reasonably priced and their bento boxes are a great deal. Also for the real traditional alcoholics they serve ichiko and have a decent sake collection. Definitely worth checking out - especially if Maneki's wait is over an hour. read more

Fuji is not your trendy Belltown sushi joint with sparkly chandeliers but they do deliver quality, tasty sushi and comfort food. I came here recently for a group dinner in the private room and the experience was very pleasant. Service was attentive and the drinks were flowing. I tried many items including sashimi (very fresh and flavorful), salmon collar, and pork tonkatsu. Everything was delicious. I would recommend Fuji for group dinners in the side room and would definitely return for happy hour, lunch, or dinner. Street parking is pretty easy to find! read more
