First time at this place. I'm here in Fond du Lac for work. Read a few reviews on this place and decide to give it a chance. I wanted something other than a sandwich or fried food. This place let me down. I did take one of the items back due to it being wayyyy to greasy and lack of flavor. It looked good, but I didn't enjoy it. I only kept the other items because I was really hungry and I had just gotten to my hotel and needed substance. I may go back and try their sushi's maybe that's what they're better at. For clarity, we have only gotten sushi here. The experience was the one and only time visit due to the food quality. The food quality was subpar, especially for sushi that requires freshness - everyone in our party commented on this. The service was not good at all there was only one person and he asked us to sit at the bar because the tables were not cleaned off and you could tell he was overwhelmed and need so much help but he got no help because the guy in the back on the sushi bar was just watching him struggle. I had a small group of friends over. Our order was about $40. I requested that we have sufficient soy sauce, ginger and wasabi to be shared with 6 people included with our order. The Sushi was good. But we received a TOTAL of 3 small envelopes of soy sauce, two small dollops of wasabi and about 10 shaved pieces of ginger. Needless to say we were all disappointed. Yes, I should have checked my pantry to make sure I had Soy and Ginger, but I didn't. However we're talking about pennies here for them to include an appropriate amount of the condiments. As a group we spend about $100/month on Sushi gatherings. For the pennies they saved on the stingy, penny-pinching distribution of condiments, they've lost our $1200/year sushi party budget. I am almost positive that their food gave me food poisoning... I had rolls so I can't tell you which fish made us both horribly sick. I can tell you to stay away from the sushi. I read all of the reviews for this place before I dared to try central Wisconsin sushi. As a whole they were dead right. The food is high quality. That is the only reason they are worth the two star rating. Where can I start talking about the service.... Very tough to put it into words. I guess the simplest way is to say that there really isn't any. I sat and waited for five minutes and was asked by the sushi chef what food I wanted. So I ordered a roll.... Then I flagged the "waitress" down (using that term VERY loosely) and ordered a drink... a Kirin and small hot Sake. I then had to wave for the sushi chef to order edamame as an appetizer. Really crazy shit! The Perfect Storm roll was the best roll I have ever had. No lie. Soft shell crab was the main ingredient but it had spicy mayo, unagi sauce, crunch and was topped with seaweed salad. Crazy good. I know, I was so mentally torn between the food and service my head is still spinning! Of course I had to wave someone down to get my check. I didn't realize it until I left, but they were so unorganized they forgot to put the beer and Saki on my bill!!! Karma! If you eat here you need to check your service expectations at the door. Food was priced really well and it was, as the name suggests, yummy. I got a sushi lunch and was quite impressed with how little I spent. A lot of the reviews on here are talking about a rude waitress and I can back that up. She acts like she doesn't want to be here and doesn't want to serve you. My husband had their sushi a while back (within the last 2 years) and he wasn't a fan. But I wanted to try it myself. I used their online ordering system, and it wasn't a great process. Had no idea when it was ready to be picked up, so I had to call and make sure after 30-40 minutes. Just not a great process. Maybe I'm just spoiled from other restaurants in the area using better ordering systems, but it was still frustrating. Went to pick up my order, brought it back home, and honestly, I couldn't eat the sushi. It wasn't at all what I had in mind. My husband thankfully ate it, but I was left disappointed. Not what I thought I ordered. As a backup option, I also ordered general tso chicken, but it was subpar. It had almost like a peanut flavor to it that overpowered the dish. I don't know. Lady was on her phone the whole time, didnt talk to us at all, i had to get my own to-go box at the end and the first one i picked up was dirty like there had already been food in it, she gave us 2 dirty sauce cups at first and tried to give them back to me after i had said they were dirty. We have ordered here quite a few times and food is okay. Reason for this poor review is we just placed an order online for pick up, I had copy of online order showing price for the order. When I went in they charged us more than the confirmed price for the confirmed order. I had handed my card to the hostess to pay and said to her the price on the bag receipt did not match my online receipt - she ignored me and swiped my card. I said again that the price did not match and she pointed to a sign on the counter saying their hibachi meals had increased by $1- however my order was not for any hibachi items and I again said to her that they can't just charge a different price to what shows on a confirmed order. She refused to resolve the issue and just said prices gone up. I should have insisted on refunding the full amount and left the food behind me but we had a group waiting at home for the food. So word of warning to anyone else ordering online - prices are not correct! I will not be eating there again based on how this was handled. We ordered hibachi table side because the 4 hibachi tables had people waiting for the 1 cook they had for all tables. Very long wait. The food was gross. My chicken was slimy and had a horrible texture. The rice and veggies were over cooked and so greasy. My cousins filet was over cooked and tuff. I honestly don't know how they are in business. I have come here a considerable amount of times, and keep coming back because my family likes the habachi chicken, but I have to comment about the bad customer service. Everytime I have come in, the owner/waitress is rude. She has an attitude and makes the environment unfriendly. Today I called to order to go and because we couldn't quite understand eachother she was yelling at me, and when we went to pick up our order she missed the fried rice (whole reason I placed the order) and wouldn't add it. I've been to many restaurants in many states. I have never been in a restaurant where the waitress didn't know how to answer any questions about the food. She was a nice girl with absolutely no training. She could not even identify any sauces. I ordered the red curry. I know the taste of chicken that has passed it's prime. It smelled funny so I would not eat it. I , however was charged anyway. I was oftered a 10 dollar gift card, that didn't even cover the cost of the entrée. I felt like the owner all but called me a liar about the chicken. I don't go out to eat to argue how food should be made. A customer is ALWAYS right, just not at Fuji Yummy's. What an extremely disappointing experience. While the food was AMAZING the server was extremely off putting and extremely unfriendly. She barely talked to us, seemed extremely annoyed of our presence and had no desire to move faster than a snail. Had to ask other people (host and sushi chef to get us things like water, sushi, and napkins. We came for my birthday and when we walked in there was another birthday with a huge celebration going on. Mentioned to the lady several times that it was my birthday and that we wanted dessert and we were not even given the option for it. Took at least 45 min from the time we ordered to get the hibachi chef to come out (AND WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE RESTAURANT). This lady (pretty sure she's the owner) clearly should not be in the service industry. If you're looking for amazing food, I would suggest you ordering the food to go. I won't come in again so don't worry. Attitudes go a long way, and hers was very bad. I also got a head injury from my body launching off my toilet at home from the thrust created by the diarrhea I got from this place. I was sick as a dog and it ruined my Friday night. I am giving two stars because I had never had a bad experience with food. This used to be my favorite place until I got tired of the owners horrible service and rudeness. One year we took my son here for his birthday and many times I had seen an awesome birthday celebration they do. There was 8 of us we didn't hold back on ordering and let everyone order as they wished. Her husbands performance for hibachi was great and we were prepared to leave a massive tip for our massive bill. Despite his wife's horrible service. When I told her it was my son's birthday she actually said I had to have his birth certificate to prove it was his birthday! I have 4 other children what kind of person assumes I would get one child cake by lying? Additionally with the many sodas soups teas appetizers etc it's obvious we could pay for dessert if wanted. I was extremely mad. We finished the bill and I told her this time she is not getting a tip. It's one thing to treat adults horribly but children? My wife and I are from San Diego and we've got our preferences when it comes to good sushi. This place is in an indiscreet location and looks very tiny but when you walk in it opens up to a large area that's very clean and with plenty of space between tables. The service has been excellent, the Rolls have been great, the Sake is warm and so far it's the best sushi we've had in Wisconsin. I've eaten here three times and have to say that it wasn't bad for a Sushi place in Fond du Lac. As someone who has had Sushi from Milwaukee, Chicago, Twin Cities, to San Diego, I'm kind of picky about my Sushi. I haven't had the hibachi. Also they have a small selection of Thai Food as well. (I also have not tried the Thai Menu items yet.) I don't normally have high expectations for a combined/fusion Asian places. All in all, despite the lack of selection of specialty rolls, I have enjoyed the food so far. One Highlight for me is the Crab Salad. It was unique in that it had a spicy mayo mixed with the crab and cucumber. It was a nice twist to a traditional Kani Salad. Also, the cost was decent as well.
