Clean restaurant with attentive staff. Delicious and presentable food. The liquid nitrogen gas was a nice touch to the nigiri plate. High chair is sturdy so that the baby can't fall through the gaps and it's plastic, not like some restaurants which have broken parts on their wooden chairs.
Came in since my boys didn't want kbbq, which good call because my appetite wasn't the largest. But loved coming here instead. The place is small but very well put together. The service was wonderful, the staff was kind and always making sure everything went well. The food was great. I ended up getting a special, raw fish topped with uni as nigiri and chicken skewers. My son had the salmon and rice entree while my partner indulged in an unagi bowl.
Came in on our way home from Sacramento last night for Mother's Day dinner. I struggled a bit deciding on 4 stars because the service and food was so fantastic. Our server was young and we could tell she hasn't been doing this long, but she put in the most effort to make our meal nice and I was really blown away by how hospitable and happy she was to be there. That is hugely refreshing and so hard to find anywhere today. She brought me a basket to put my purse in under the table because I don't put it on the floor superstitiously. Our water glasses were always full. We were genuinely able to relax and have a nice time. The kitchen, however, had gotten overwhelmed before we got there and my stepdaughter's chicken donburi took over an hour to come out. I really don't want to fault them for that because it was a very busy day, but it might be a good idea to hire an extra line cook for the next big holiday. I'm looking forward to coming back on a regular day because I'm sure it will be 5 stars! The rolls were fantastic and creative (they're labeled on my photos.) I forgot to take a pic of the Osaka roll but it was devoured by my fiancé so it must have been delicious! The miso soup was full of mushrooms and had great umami flavor. The Sake nigiri was some of the freshest I've had recently and was buttery and delicious. Japanese food is my absolute favorite and this place delivered excellent service and flavor.
A few of us popped in for a quickie dinner after attending a different event. We were actually expecting a whole lot, but the fish quality here is superb! The inside is actually pretty cute. Nice for a date night. My hubs ordered the chirashi and my friend and I each got a roll. Hubs said the fish was super fresh on his bowl and I really enjoyed my crab salad on my roll. Definitely need to come back and try some other goodies.
Fujiya Sushi in Elk Grove was excellent! The sushi was incredibly fresh and everything we ordered was delicious. Presentation to the garnishes were perfection. The fresh lemonade was the highlight it was so refreshing and easily one of the best I've had. The service was amazing friendly , attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Very clean and well decorated inside and also had outside seating with lights / heat laps. We'll definitely be back!
Open until 9:30pm on Fridays! Lenten Friday night dinner party of 2. The sunomono salad was more than just cucumbers -- it had crab and shrimp too! We also shared one torched (Kobe) and one baked (Lion King) sushi roll, and finished with a slice of special yuzu Japanese cheesecake. Very good service even though it was later in the night.
Update: I've been coming here over a year. This is one of my go to restaurants. The food is consistent and the service is good. The sushi is fresh and everything is made to order. I always and really like the salmon poke. It's a simple dish, but I really like it. My go to roll is the Elk Grove roll or Sakura roll. They both have a good flavor to them. The Ramon is pretty good too. The noodles are cooked to the right consistency and the flavor of the broth is good.
Hands down best nigiri in the area. I have a hard time finding good quality sushi in the Sacramento area and I'm so glad this spot is right around the corner from my house. I get food here every week and the quality is always so good. I usually get the Chashu fried rice, truffle hamachi, all of their nigiri, and yuzu cheesecake.
I loved this sushi spot! My family met here for a quick dinner to catch up and it was great. The inside is small but there's surprisingly a lot of tables and it's so nicely decorated. We had a reservation and were a bit early but we were sat immediately. The lady ate the front was so nice and got us a high chair and a kid's cup and utensils immediately without us asking. My mom got an espresso martini that she enjoyed and it had the restaurant logo on top which was a nice touch. Onto the sushi- I got two rolls and both were DELICIOUS. I was very surprised that I liked the vegetarian roll better than the one with salmon. The fried enoki was soooo good. Definitely will have to go back next time I'm home
So we went yesterday January 31st around 5:00 p.m. to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were a group of seven people and when we arrived the space was not too full maybe another four tables that have been set in the restaurant. The Ambiance itself is surprising because on the outside you would not expect it to be so sophisticated is the word I'm going to use when you walk in. The beautiful Walnut color tables the chairs that felt super nice and even the benches had a beautiful golden color to them. In addition the table settings that were used were wonderful because it designs on the plates and bowls were just very vibrant. I also really enjoyed the small detail of the chopsticks that had both ends being pointed. Regarding the service 100% amazing. From the second we stepped in someone greeted us and within like 10 seconds of us sitting down we had a waiter come to us asking us if we wanted anything to eat or drink or had any questions and we were like cool give us a few minutes and we started talking and he came back and was like anything I can get for you and we're like oh we haven't really thought about what we wanted let's ask you what are some good things that you would recommend. And so he gave you some recommendations and we told him we'd talk through then once our party fully got there. We told the birthday boy what they had recommended and basically we got the happy hour appetizers to start. Our full menu was the spicy edamame, the gyoza, Sakura roll, Lion King roll, volcano roll, California roll, spicy tuna roll, elk Grove roll, teriyaki chicken bowl, and the Osaka roll. Overall everyone's favorite top rolls were the Sakura roll spicy tuna and Osaka roll. Each of those had very distinct flavors that blended really wonderfully together when you have the full bite in your mouth. I chose to not add any soy sauce to mine maybe just a little bit of wasabi to really brighten the flavors in my mouth. The rest of the table tried it with soy sauce and wasabi at the same time and still said it was delicious because of flavor profile still came through for all those rolls. The volcano roll and The Lion King roll was a little bit of a mixed bag. The flavor was still good people just had different opinions about what they liked about each role. For example the flavor of the Lion King roll was very delicious, but because it was baked it got a little mushy but that does make sense because the sauce on it made the rice a little softer. For me and others at the table that was just a texture thing. It would be nice to have a little bit more of like a maybe a sear on the rice so that it can have a little crunch as the sauce starts to bake over it. For the volcano roll the friedness was nice but again the crunch wasn't as strong as we would have liked it because again the inside got a little soft due to the bit of frying on the outside. Again flavors were delicious just it's a texture thing for people. The elk Grove roll was the one that was definitely the head scratcher because people like flavors of all the different pieces there was something about the seaweed that was used that gave it like a smoky flavor at the end that was unexpected. Wasn't bad it was just as you tasted it and then the ending note on the pallet was that smokiness you were like where did that come from? Overall though like the atmosphere again is amazing, service was phenomenal, and we really did appreciate the little cheesecake given to the birthday boy. 100% would come back and would like to try their other rolls. Also I would love to try out their ramen because I saw a few people order that and it looked amazing. The broth looks like it takes many many hours to be made.
Top to-go sushi spot in the Elk Grove area! Their food has never disappointed me. I especially love the sashimi -- the presentation is always beautiful, and the fish tastes incredibly fresh. This has become my family's go-to restaurant whenever we're craving sushi.
Came here for dinner on a Friday night. It was busy but plenty seating for a walk in with no reservation. They do have seating outside as well as the weather gets better. We were greeted by friendly servers and host inside. We immediately were seated and ask for drink order or food. Said we needed more time to look at menu. Everyone was friendly. We ordered flaming mushrooms for appetizers. They were OK; we saw everyone had ordered spicy edeame that was the go to appetizer. We ordered the Kalamazoo and Sakura roll. They were very good!! We also ordered the jalapeño martini and the best lemonade I've had. I highly recommend this Japanese restaurant for sushi and the abundance of other food offered.
I really enjoy Fujiya. I went once two years ago and have been wanting to come back ever since. It has always been on the back of my mind, but I haven't had the opportunity to go to Elk Grove again. I finally got the chance recently and they did not disappoint! My experience was great. Their employees were very nice, helpful and attentive. They seem to refill waters quite often. The vibe and aesthetic of the restaurant is nice and I appreciate how small and cozy their spot is. I got a Lion King roll, which was so good! I've had the Lion King roll at numerous places, but this spot is my favorite. It is very light and feels like a relatively healthy meal. If you are looking for something heavy, Fujiya is not the place for you. The flavors were really good and everything complemented each other perfectly. The roll wasn't overly saturated with sauce and it really brought the flavors out of each ingredient more. I have tried other rolls such as the Firecracker and the Venus Roll as well. For the Firecracker, I love how thin the breading of the fried part is on the sushi roll. It wasn't too oily or greasy and didn't make me feel sick eating it. It is so rare to find a sushi spot that does deep fried rolls right. The Venus Roll was also delicious. I really enjoyed their crunch garlic sauce on this roll and I love that the lemon brought a really nice flavor and texture to the roll. I don't really enjoy raw fish, but the textures and flavors of the roll were very complementary that I did not notice the raw fish much while eating it. I appreciate that they make their sushi rolls with a thin layer of rice, instead of sushi rolls consisting mostly of rice like some places. I also really appreciate that their rolls are perfectly bite-size. A gripe I have with other sushi places is sometimes their rolls are so big that I can't put a piece in my mouth without it falling apart, needing to bite it in half, or having to stuff my mouth unpleasantly looking like a mess trying to eat it. Their rolls are very neat and tasty. I would absolutely recommend this spot. One thing I have been really wanting to try from Fujiya is their ramen. I finally got to try it and I was amazed. I am not a big ramen fan, but I would definitely come here and order it again. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. The meat portion was a little sparse and I usually like having a piece of meat with every bite, but the flavors in the ramen made it still enjoyable to eat without it once the meat was gone. The broth is very light as well, not too heavy like most ramen broths. The broth was flavorful and I enjoyed even drinking it, which I don't do often. It was that good! Overall, I love that Fujiya's food is light and feels healthy to eat. There is no feeling of a food coma or drowsiness after eating. I felt light, refreshed, content, and full! Their food feels very well thought out and intentional. I appreciate that a lot. Their flavor palette and style of food seem to match up with my preferences. I really enjoyed my experience and will absolutely be back! Fujiya is now one of my favorite sushi spots and I think it's worth the drive.
Probably one the of best sushi spots in EG! I'm somewhat of a sushi snob so I'm picky about "good" sushi but this place checks the box. I came here with some fam to catch up over dinner and they were able to accommodate our bigger group without a reservation. Servers kept giving me updates throughout the wait which i really appreciated. I shared some nigiri's and oysters the presentation was absolutely amazing. Would def always come back whenever I'm craving good quality sushi in Elk Grove. read more

Food was great and food came out so fast! Very unexpected. Service is over the top. Our server Brian was nice and checked on us a few times. The rest of the staff refilled our waters and took the empty plates away. Place looks nice and clean. Environment is simple, has a tv, and light music. Only thing I didn't like is we were seated at the table closest to the restroom. I think maybe placing a curtain to kind of block that area would be nice. Definitely will come back. read more

I was on the hunt for a new sushi spot in Elk Grove (besides Mikuni). I'm so glad that I came across Fujiya in my Yelp searches! This restaurant is on the smaller side, located in a busy shopping center. Parking was pretty packed when I went, but I was still able to find a decent spot. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by staff and offered help. I made an order for pick-up via DoorDash and it was ready within 20 minutes, which was already by the time that I arrived. The inside ambience is super lively and the restaurant has a gorgeous set-up. There was plenty of hostesses waiting at the front to help whenever needed. They had bar seating and table seating available. It was low-light so it does have a pretty romantic vibe, but also seems like a great spot for family outings too. My order was packed in a high quality shopping bag. I am a sucker for good packaging so I had to take note of this. They made sure to include chopsticks, soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi in my order as well. They also had free ments available at the counter. I ordered the Lion King Roll which was flawless. I can tell the fish was high quality and the shrimp was really tasty as well. I definitely plan to try more of the menu soon! read more

Fujiya is a small Japanese restaurant. Making reservations is a good idea on the weekend. The service is very attentive and helpful. I don't recommend sitting at the bar because the bar stools are not very comfortable. It is fun to watch the chefs work though. They also have amazing drinks. My hubby had their Old Fashion and he said it was amazing. The Nigiri is so fresh, I loved the hamachi. They have all the standard rolls and a few creative ones. I would recommend any of them. My husband got the chef special and ate every piece and the presentation was beautiful! Fujiya definitely rivals Raw and Mikuni! read more

We went on a busy Friday night and was seated quickly. We chose outside seating and luckily they had heat lamps. I ordered Gucci roll and another one that I can't remember and both were very good! The sparkling sake was a nice surprise. I had the Mixed Berry flavor. It went down like juice-smooth flavor. My husband had an old fashioned which was tasty. He enjoyed it. Dropped in on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. The service was very friendly and quick! We ordered apps and rolls to share. The apps were really the winners of the night! The truffle hamachi, squid legs, oyster shooter and spicy garlic edamame were all 10/10 would order again. We got 3 rolls to share and they were all good. Our favorite was def the kobe roll. Had a nice torched charred flavor! The Sakura was good but def not for everyone. And the kamka roll was good, you can't go wrong with soft shell crab! We would def come back here. My friend found this place on YELP so we had to try it for our monthly date! I chose to visit at 1pm but on the way there i noticed they do close at 230 and reopen at 4 for dinner. Glad we got there in time and they weren't as busy as i thought they would be. We were able to sit at the bar! We both ordered bento boxes and a roll each. I had the salmon and it was filling. The box comes with soup, 1 or 2 entrees, salad fruit and rice. Let me tell you I'm usually not a fan of the dressing on salad in bento boxes but theirs is YUMM i give my box a 5/5 the flavor was perfect. Nothing was over powered with sauce Soy wrapped Venus roll!!!! I love a roll that has a thin slice of lemon something about it make it refreshing. 5/5. I enjoyed being here the service was great, they greet when you come in, very friendly and genuine. We stayed a little after eating since we were chatting but never felt rushed they even continued to refill our waters during or talk session. I will be back. read more
I came here with my daughter right as they opened the doors so the vibe was quiet and peaceful, just the way I like. The dining area is nice, neat, and clean. The ramen was delicious however the broth's saltiness became heavy over time. I still ate it all because I enjoyed it. My daughter enjoyed her tempura and California roll-can't go wrong. The tempura had a great crispy exterior. The service was standard. The lady was nice. The stuffed mushrooms were juicy and flavorful. I don't typically order stuff like that but it was a treat. I came during lunch time and there was plenty of space available. I was seated right away and the server was friendly and attentive. I got their chicken karaage and a lunch bento. The karaage was very tasty. It had a good amount of chicken and not too much batter which I prefer. The bento came with miso soup, rice, fruit, salad, and you can either choose to have 1 or 2 mains. I went with the 3 piece nigiri and 5 piece sashimi. It was very delicious and the portions were generous for the price point. I would definitely recommend ordering the bento if you want to try out a few things. This place is very small and can get busy especially during dinner time. Slow service... not sure why. I mean we got seated right away for 3 people on a Friday night around 8pm as soon as we walked in. Servers were attentive and got us ordering real quick. They served us 3 rounds of water just after appetizers were served. Ate all my appetizers and been sitting for 30 mins, my other food items still ain't come out. Glad the appetizers came out quick though. However, I'm looking at other tables that have been seated before we even gotten in & it took them hella long to get their orders too. Came out one at a time, probably 10 mins in between each dish. 30 mins in, my boyfriend gets his sushi roll. The next 15 mins my friend gets her ramen. Waiter checks in about 3-5 mins later to tell me my Chirashi is being worked & apologizes for the wait. Okay.. I guess lol.... Damn near a whole hour of waiting. Overall, we enjoyed the food. It was actually really good! Chirashi had really fresh fish. Firecracker roll was mid but liked that the fried coat is not super thick. Spicy miso ramen was good too. Not hella spicy cuz Japanese spicy not usually too spicy. Can ask for extra seasoning/sauce to spice up yourself. read more

Sushi is always fresh and delicious and every roll we have ever tried was so good! The service is always great and restaurant is such a welcoming vibe! I'm so glad I rediscovered my love for Fujiya. I must confess that when I frequented them when they first opened, I wasn't super impressed with their rolls but I definitely no longer feel that way. They have one of the best rolls I've ever had and the creativity of their rolls and their happy hour menu, has me coming back again and again! Hands down my favorite roll from them is the Gucci roll. The flavor of the torched salt, chili oil and wagyu with the mango and lobster is just unlike anything I've had. It's just the best balance of sushi flavors! I will say sometimes it isn't as good as other times because the mango can be super tart or a little tasteless (which might just reflect the season), or the portion of the roll isn't consistent but when it's good it's sooo good. We also discovered the Pyramid Roll which just has the best balance of citrus, veggies and crab salad/salmon. Love that they pile on the spring mix! For their happy hour menu (which is now everyday from 4:30-6pm), we really love the Chicken Karaage and the Sweet Potato Fries. The mayo based sauces they come with are so yummy and we used them both interchangeably. The Karaage has a nice crisp, juicy plump interior and pretty good portion! Definitely a good value for the happy hour. Their servers are friendly, but they get pretty busy often and it is harder to grab their attention during those times of the day. I would also recommend making a reservation after 6pm because of their dinner rush. I tend to like going before then if I can help it to avoid the crowds. read more

Delicious! The 40 min drive was totally worth it. Fresh, flavorful and memorable. Finally got a chance to try this place that my friends have been raving about. i ordered takeout and it was ready for pickup as soon as i got there (i ordered it & immediately left the house, probably like 10 minutes away). the chicken karaage was my favorite item it was 5/5 soooo good i loved it and ate it up with the lil sauce they give you. the sushi kinda missed for me /: but i think i also am a little biased because my local sushi spot has set the standard for sushi. it just lacked flavor for me, the textures were fine, although, my boyfriend hated that his sushi roll had daikon sprouts (looked like asparagus) in it because it was such a soft roll with a crunch and that really threw him off. i appreciated the cute little dollop of wasabi. i was craving sushi this day and i found the chicken to be the best item ordered. read more

Fantastic experience (MUCH better than the Elk Grove Mikuni - worth the 15 minute drive)! The sushi was fresh and delicious and the Old Fashioned was NOT watered down, it was delicious. Excellent service and menu. I will definitely be a regular here soon! read more

I'd say Fujiya may be a place to come for the ambiance, but the food isn't the greatest. The branding and dining ware look nice, but I was underwhelmed with the portion of food and the high price of their bento box (which is only served during lunch hours). I tried a salmon bento. They note on their menu that it is served with miso soup, salad, fresh fruit, and rice. The "fresh fruit" was four little grapes and a tiny slice of orange. I've had plenty of bentos that are served with orange slices (that are 2-3x bigger than the one I was served). I'd say don't even mention the fruit, since when the box arrived, I was shocked. It was interesting that the miso was served with mushrooms - I'm not for or against this, just noting it here since it's different than the typical tofu & green onion. Salmon tasted fine, but it was a thin cut of salmon and wasn't filling. Also, this won't matter to all, but don't expect Fujiya to be an authentic Japanese restaurant. (Japanese food items are mispronounced by staff.) read more

Overall the service was great appetizers are impressive and the rolls were pretty average. The yakitori was the highlight of this visit. I ended up ordering two more after my inicial order. I would go back and just order Yakitori it's too bad they are served only at dinner. read more
This is now my new sushi spot. Everything I ordered tasted great. The fish tasted fresh and the edamame was so buttery. The drinks are good here too. I ordered sake and an oyster shooter. I do recommend to make reservations. Our waitress was very helpful. read more

Fujiya is a hidden gem for great Japanese food in Elk Grove. From presentation to taste, this restaurant is top notch! It is my NEW favorite for Sushi & Sashimi for sure. Their Bento boxes are also yummy, but nothing beats the freshness of the raw fish, meticulously prepared and presented to your table. The BBQ Albacore is amazing and my friend and I were wowed with the Volcano's presentation & taste! The Gucci roll, with deep fried Lobster was incredible. They have an extensive menu, which includes Bento Boxes, Ramen, Yakatori & Donburi. The service is good here, although they are always busy. Make a reservation to be on the safe side! The restaurant itself is rather small, but there is plenty of room between the tables that you are sitting on top of your dining neighbors! read more

My boyfriend and I sat at the sushi bar for our experience. I really enjoyed watching the chefs cook. The waiters brought us a warm towel for our hands to be cleaned. In the pictures, we ordered (my favorite) hamachi Kama, gucci roll, salmon belly nigiri, and a teriyaki chicken bowl. The gucci roll was so yummy! I have never had wagu on a roll and it was absolutely delicious. It was a great experience! I liked the ambiance inside. Perfect for a cute date night :) read more

I was visiting a friend in Elk Grove and we were looking to try a new sushi spot. We actually happened upon this by searching yelp. The ratings and reviews were good so we decided to try it. We came in a little before 5 and they were already pretty busy. The inside isn't huge but it's very quaint, neat and very clean. The tables were set in a beautiful way and I could hear that they have regulars based on some of the conversations had near our table. We got menus and water right away. After looking over the menu we ordered the following: Gyoza - comes with 6 pan fried pot stickers and a sauce that I found sweeter than most places. The filling is pork and they came out perfect. I love pan fried and love them they come out soft and not crunchy. 8.5/10. Kamakaz Roll - Soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, crab meat, baby lobster salad, spicy mayo, garlic aioli and tobiko ( top photo ). I was a fan of this roll. The sweetness of the lobster and crab paired so well with the spicy mayo and garlic aioli. Very petty in presentation with the shift shell crab sticking out the sides. It's a pretty filling roll. 7/10. Osaka Roll - Seared pepper tuna, tempura flakes, daikon sprouts, salmon, avocado, unagi, tobiko, unagi sauce, garlic aioli and spicy aioli. Loved this roll. It sounds like there's a lot going on but everything together makes for a perfect bite. It's very fresh and the addition of the unagi is what sold me. 9.5/10. Our waitress was really quiet but she was very sweet and the atmosphere is really great. read more

There are many sushi restaurants in the area but this is one of the really good sushi spots. We tried different items on the menu and it was all delicious. The staff was very friendly and always checked on us. The restaurant is a bit small but was still comfortable. For that reason, if you dont like being around alot of people, I'd say to visit during off peak times to avoid a busy restaurant. The drinks were also really good so dont pass that up. They have a dessert menu but its nothing too exciting. read more
