Got a giftcard for Fukuda in The Woodlands as a present and took my wife. The staff was nice, but seemingly stressed. Never made it to the table tho. Valid giftcard, but Fukuda doesn't recognize them. Hostess called owner. Hostess even used personal cell phone (thank you) to send pictures of the valid giftcard. Still nope. I then spoke to the owner directly who seemed bothered to even talk to a customer. I offered several ways by which to validate the giftcard. Still nope. I tolerated her unpleasant temperament and tone as long as I could. I asked if this was how she treated all customers. She didn't seem to care or even understand. As opposed to having an argument, my wife and I left. Will NOT return. Can only imagine how poorly employees are treated, but it probably explains their stress. read more

The last time I was in the Spring/Woodlands area was almost 6 years ago, but I finally went with a friend to run some errands. We found this restaurant through yelp and immediately fell in love. Upon walking in, the majority of the waitstaff spoke Japanese and the majority of the customers spoke Japanese..so we already knew this spot was probably going to be legit. And it definitely lived up to expectation! We got the salmon donburi, salmon nigiri, hotate nigiri, flounder nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, garlic edamame, and liger roll. All of the food was delicious, and the sushi was incredibly fresh, especially the hotate. I felt like this was some of the best quality sushi I've had in a while and all for very reasonable and affordable prices. Definitely a must-try sushi restaurant in the Houston area and now a big reason I'll be coming back to the woodlands/spring area much sooner than 6 years. read more

They have happy hour Saturday & Sunday from 3pm - closed, Monday - Friday 3pm - 7pm & Reverse happy hours M-T 8:30pm -closed & Friday 9pm - close. They had King Salmon as a special. I was a little nervous about bringing my picky kids here since they are pretty picky on what they eat and it passed the test with flying colors. Parking is a little difficult during peak times but worth wait. When you first step in you will notice it to be a tad on the intimidate dark side but still visible lighting for you to read the menus. The tables are spaced apart enough where you aren't getting butt in your face as you eat and the ambience decibel level is normal for a place that has a high ceiling........unless you get sat next to a table of 20 roving loud mouths like we did but that's not the establishment's fault. Service was great and not overzealous. Richard was our server that night and he passed the test of us being our first time here and really taking a while to view the menus. We saw they had Iced Tea and Green Tea on the menu as drinks but wanted Iced Green Tea which he frankly was glad to accomodate. Don't forget to get your Yelp 10% discount towards the end of the tab, happy hour and alcohol not included in that but every bit helps right? I had the spider roll which had a good crispy outside softshell crab texture with the good sushi rice holding it together and it's accompanied smidgens of sauce that is rolled into it. Beware of the spicy garlic edamame. If you love spicy and garlic, this hits the spot and probably will have you wanting another bowl, it is $4.50 by the way. Too spicy for a kid but you adults will love it. The appetizer tofu for only $3.50 sat on a liquidy but light flavored bowl that did not overpower or make the tofu soggy or salty. The kid's "bento" box if I may call it that was adequate enough for a 9 year old girl and eye pleasing as well. The price was $9 I recall. They have a reverse happy hour here but I cannot recall the exact times but a call can fix that. You can see this restaurant from the freeway as it sits on the feeder. Your standard mom and pop neighborhood restaurant that was good 25 years ago and hasn't changed...anything. The menu, the furniture, wall paper, the neon Budweiser sign behind the bar, that one article from the local paper that gave them an excellent review, etc., you get the picture. Tried the tempura shrimp and found it bland, the batter for the calamari had the characteristics of what is typically found on fast food onion rings. My teriyaki salmon was waaaay over cooked and my miso salad was more dressing than greens. The sticky rice and grilled veggies were actually really good. Service was glacially slow, but the bus staff was good and picked up where the server slacked off. Which means I saw those guys often. read more

By far the best sushi I've had! They do offer happy hour during the weekends which includes some alcoholic drinks as well as lots of sushi options. The customer service is great too very attentive. Sushi/Sashimi is always fresh and delicious, my mom loves the teriyaki Salmon and the Fukada special fried rice is to die for. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. My mom is Japanese and some of the staff speak to her in Japanese, she is 91 years old and really appreciates the thoughtfulness. If you are around the Spring/woodland area, you should give this place a try. Foods are good and fresh. My favorite dish are ghost rider roll and ika sansai. We also order liger (or linger) roll, miso soup, beef carpaccio, and grilled baby ika (squid). All were okay. The service was great but my waiter didn't speak English really well. Some of the questions she did not understand. I asked her if grilled baby ika is grilled baby octopus, she said 'yes' but it turned out to be squid instead. Later on I told them that I actually wanted octopus, the manager (i think) came to tell me that because i ordered the wrong dish, ika is squid. I did not want to make a big deal about it so I didn't tell her that her waiter told me wrong first. However, due to this incident I'm not sure that I want to come back. read more

I went in excited because of all the reviews I read. However, one waitress in particular was inhospitable. Upon being seated, I was rushed and even after ordering, I noticed that she treated other guests better than she treated me by asking if they needed anything and updating them on their orders as she passed them their food while she only silently passed me my appetizers. After a while, I observed that this was not simply just a coincidence and promptly left, so I didn't even wait for the rest of my order to come or even try asking about ramen or other sushis they had. Upon asking to be checked out early, she immediately became hostile and glaringly said that she cannot refund the rest of my order as there was nothing wrong with it. Funnily enough, she was able to produce the rest of my order after a couple of seconds as I was paying at the till. However, just moments ago I was waiting around 10 minutes for it to come while she was serving and checking up on everyone else. People who ordered after me even got their orders first. I didn't argue and just paid and left without touching the rest of the order. Paying a few dollars to be spared her hostile presence is a bargain and I don't even want to eat what a hostile waitress serves me in case she did anything else with it. I went to the Indian Restaurant just a few doors down and was treated much better. I can't say anything about anything else on their menu except that it isn't worth getting treated badly just to try. Edit: I stand corrected on them serving ramen. I went here on someone's suggestion since I was craving some ramen and or sushi. However, as I stated earlier, I never got to try anymore of my order. In any case, I am not wrong about the bad service. I even opened up a Yelp account just to post this. That's how bad it was. Go here if you want to risk both getting treated badly and getting robbed in broad daylight. The server never even asked if there was anything wrong. She immediately said that there could be no refunds. She knows how she treated me. Her intentions were clear just from the way she did not seek reconciliation and went straight away to hostility. I took a friend here for lunch. This was during October. I have to point out that someone was very much into Halloween because I couldn't tell if I was coming to eat sushi or walking into a costume store. But it was great to see the effort made! I ordered japanese curry with a pork cutlet, and I believe my friend ordered a vegetable soup. Her broth was really good and savory. We got a tempura vegetable appetizer and it was amazing. They had some seasonal vegetables in there that tasted fantastic. I wanna say pumpkin and acorn squash? That is my new favorite way to eat pumpkin now. My curry was good. I had low expectations going into this, even after reading all the great yelp reviews and knowing for many years that this is one of the best, if not THE BEST, sushi places up north. I happened to come late one evening so I was able to enjoy many items from their huge happy hour menu. This is a good way to experience much of their menu without paying full price. Inside you will find a great atmosphere and good food. Were all the items I tried mind-blowing? No, but they will definitely satisfy your craving for slightly better than average sushi. The sushi here is so incredibly fresh with very unique blends of roll flavors! The lava roll is a meal in itself (spicy tuna, mango, jalapeño topped with chunky assorted fish), and the colossal roll also lives up to its name! The fried tofu appetizer is perfection: save the extra sauce for dipping as it goes perfectly with the sushi.
