Came here for dinner on a weekday while in the area. There were plenty of parking available in their lot. The restaurant has the pretty typical mom and pop vibe, and was pretty packed. The surprisingly extensive menu offers traditional Japanese items like nigiri, sashimi, and hot items, but also has a large selection of American influenced rolls with cream cheese. Although the flavor profile, presentation and the knife work can't really compare to some of the higher end sushi spots, the fish were pretty fresh and cooked items were prepared well. A solid choice for the area.

Was in the area for work and decided to find a sushi spot nearby. It looked like a fairly mom and pop spot alongside the freeway between the Woodlands and Spring. Plenty of free parking out front and a cozy interior. Service was good and their menu, although way too large for its own good, had diversity between sushi/sashimi/rolls and hot entree options. The rolls are mainly a fusion style (looking at you, cream cheese) and feature some sort of teriyaki / eel sauce as you would expect. we also got some sashimi and nigiri. The knife work on the sashimi honestly wasn't the best but everything tasted fresh and was prepared pretty well for a neighborhood joint! They even had fresh grated wasabi, which was a plus.

I almost feel like I shouldn't write a review, because I have yet to dine in the establishment. I've only ordered for pickup, but I will say that they have the food ready as soon as they can. I like the shaggy dog. I also like how the people seem honest- the girl who worked there said that the wontons don't have much crab and are mostly cream cheese. I appreciate the honesty because I would be annoyed if I ordered and didn't know that before hand. But back to ordering for pickup--It takes me about 20 minutes to come here and the food will be ready and waiting in a bag with the chopsticks and everything that I need. They do take your credit card information over the phone the first time you order, which feels a little sketchy because you have to read your whole credit card information instead of typing in somewhere but it's fine because I guess it's a way for them to ensure that the food will be paid for before you pick it up.

more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. at my prior company based in the woodlands, all the expats typically came here for dinner/lunch. They were all japanese, so i don't know if that means there's a lack of japanese food options in the woodlands, or that this place is really good. i decided to give it a shot for lunch, and came here right when it opened. we ended up getting two entrees, one where we got two rolls of sushi and a chirashi bowl. we also got two pieces of tamago nigiri. The rolls were not too bad, but the chirashi bowl was the better item out of the two. It definitely wasn't the freshest fish i've had.The best thing about the chirashi bowl was the size. i couldn't believe for the price i paid, how much fish/rice i got. service was great, and attentive.

My favorite hidden gem. This sushi restaurant is tucked into a strip off the I-45 feeder road. Inside the restaurant is dimly lit with lots of seating and even has kids art on the wall which is very homey. I have been coming here for over 10 years as a regular. The staff is very polite and service is always quick. My group typically orders in rounds so there's always something new and fresh coming out. You can't go wrong with any food on the menu. My personal must order is the escolar nigiri which is easily the best I have ever had. The fish is fresh and served with caramelized garlic on top giving it the yummiest crunch. The crab puffs are the best as well. I love how light the wonton wrapper is compared to other restaurants cakey crab rangoons. They are perfectly crisp and bite sized served with delicious orange dipping sauce. If someone in your party is not a fan of fish they will love the gyoza. Their flavor is incredible so everyone at the table will probably want to try one. Their happy hour from 3 - 7 is awesome and they even have reverse happy hour if you miss it from 8:30 - close. I visit every time I return to The Woodlands so I'll certainly be back!

Excellent meal.

Ask the Community - Fukuda

Do they have a happy hour?

Sorry! Don't know if they do have happy hour. Did ordered drinks there and the food was petty good.

Do they have all you can eat deals?

They do not but they are truly the best in Japanese Food in the area and make it their business to create sushi for even people like me, vegan. They are higher priced but go to relax and enjoy the service, the vast choices and authenticity.

Do they have a good selection of vegetarian sushi?

Yes and they are perfectly willing to work with you on what they put in your rolls.

He made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal and genuinely helped make the experience even better. Great food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service. The Asian Tacos were pretty good. The wasabi tako is raw octopus and kind of reminded me of the sannakji that I had last week (except it's not moving). The secret menu also has kimchi and various ramens. For dessert tried the banana tempura. It was fine but no wow factor. Note They have more ice cream than that listed on the menu such as Mango and cookies and cream and another one I forget the name to. Anyway Just ask. Staff today was awesome. Waitress was Stephanie and she was training another. Both were top notch.

But later in the meal I did hear her talking in the back with a man in Chinese about how a customer was complaining about a small bone in l their food. Guess she doesn't know I speak Chinese. At the end of the meal, I asked our waitress if she was the owner. She said no, quickly followed by a "the owner is not here today". Then I asked whether the owner was Chinese. Super duper long pause, followed by a soft spoken yes. Well, my favorite place in Memphis is also Chinese owned. I think many of the Japanese restaurants are. Ah well.

AYCE sushi sounded like a good deal initially. But overall the quality just wasn't there…read more I do like that you can sample a lot of their different dishes and appetizers. And that's probably the main advantage of selecting this option. We came in with only an hour to spare, with last call being at 2:30 pm (despite the buffet running to 3 pm). But within 45 min we were done. The dishes came out reasonably quick. It's a 2 hour limit if you come earlier and can manage that much food. There's no sashimi. And the slices of sashimi on top of the rice that compose the nigiri are pretty thin. The hand rolls came out soggy which means they were sitting for a while. And they got a ton of rice inside each one. Lots of sauce too especially in the eel cucumber hand roll which I didn't care for as a result. The dragon roll and Conroe roll were both ok. Nothing special in terms of specialty rolls. Shrimp wontons look like crab Rangoon and the crab Rangoon looks like jalapeño poppers. I asked the waitress about this and she said they get that comment a lot. Hmmm. Just beware. Also the skin on them as well as the fried calamari tasted tough which I think usually is attributable to old oil. Not a big fan of the beef tataki or peppercorn tuna appetizers. They had a little kick to them but the flavor was off and the tataki was kind of tough. We were told the Yellowtail jalapeño appetizer is the same as the peppercorn tuna just different fish. So we passed. The mango salmon appetizer is salmon wrapped around a mango slice. Sounds ok but because they drench it in some sauce, it tasted kinda ick. Our order of coconut shrimp never came but we weren't disappointed as nothing through the meal wowed us and it was an afterthought order to fill us up before leaving. Tempura Fried Oreo is your chance to get a Fried Oreo if you've never had one. They come in a set of 3 but you can ask for just 1 if you're full or not a big desert person. Staff was friendly. And the place was pretty busy even late into the buffet hour. I think this place is Chinese owned. Heard a lot of staff speaking it mandarin and Cantonese. And "chi" actually means eat in Chinese ... We made a reservation for 6pm, and our table was ready & available early when our group arrived around 5:40pm. -Outstanding service from our waiter ("Tommy"). He was kind, attentive, and so courteous. He most certainly had the patience of a Zen master handling our rowdy party of 10 with a few rambunctious children. There was not a single error in our orders... It's refreshing to find good service these days when dining out, and Tommy was honestly such a gem. THE BAD: Sad to say, but the food was overall pretty low tier. Every sushi roll was wrapped sloppily, with mismatched shapes & forms, nothing aesthetically pleasing, and everything disastrously falling apart with the slightest nudge. The menu was elaborate - with pages upon pages of fancy names of dishes and interesting descriptions of each item. Enticed by the menu (and realizing it was also Happy Hour, woohoo), we sampled several appetizers & rolls. Unfortunately, there was nothing impressive about the taste of any of them. In fact, it was all disappointing compared to similar items found elsewhere... It was all practically grocery store sushi rolls with a bedazzled name, and most of it looked like it was assembled by someone who had taken a single sushi-making class off the internet. That, or they just didn't care. THE UGLY: -Some other turn-offs were rickety & unstable tables, which we remedied by propping the bases with chopsticks... -And, there was also questionable black-green goo (mold?) on the ice of one of our drinks. We were so thirsty, we risked it for the biscuit (after our kind server brought us a new drink), but I would think twice about ordering ice in your drinks here. So, shoutout to the stellar waitstaff, especially good guy Tommy. But, "Try harder," for the kitchen crew. With the disappointing (and questionable) food quality we probably won't find ourselves dining here again.

Since my friend had never tried handrolls before it was a pretty quick decision! I've been to many of their sister restaurants like Aiko, Handies Douzo Montrose, Heights & Spring Branch location, Himari and Doko which are all really good, so now I can cross this one off my list too!! I made a reservation while we were on our way just in case they were busy. However, it was a pretty quiet evening. I like how they not only have the sushi bar seating which is a lot bigger than the other Sushi bars they have, but it also has standard tables so more of a restaurant feel. We ordered the 3 Handroll set which has BGB Sake (Salmon), Hamachi (Yellow tail) and Spicy Tuna. It was good to see the Salmon as part of the handroll set as Handies Douzo has switched theirs out to a different fish. I love sitting at the Sushi bar because everything is handed to you freshly made and if you have never tried a handroll you are missing out! You have to make sure to eat it right away because the seaweed has a perfect crisp to it, if you wait too long then it gets all chewy. We also ordered the Maguro Crudo which comes with bluefin tuna and the ponzu sauce is sooo good. I did ask if they had any specials and the only one available was the Kanpachi, so we also had that and it was very delicious! Overall we had a wonderful experience and the service was great!!
