My family and I have been coming to Fukuda over 10 years ago and we love it so much. I even bought a pink Fukuda shirt just to rep. You couldn't pay me to stop coming here. I would sell my soul to the devil to keep this place open forever. I'm not over exaggerating, this is how I feel. The best thing about this place is the people. We come just to see everybody, especially our best friend Gunn, she is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. Everyone is beyond exceptional. And there aren't enough words to explain how good the food is here. Not only is the food amazing but it's reasonably priced. Me and my mom can go there for lunch and leave with a $30 dollar tab and be sooo fulll. Not to mention our family has tried everything on the menu, and have never had anything bad. 10/10 of recommend, because they deserve five stars! Ahhh Fukuda... What made you special is now your undoing.... This is a place that used to have a great happy hour and an excellent balance between cost and quality. It was the gem of North Houston sushi. Times have changed: Food Quality - Acceptable but not great. The tuna quality was low and the rolls seem to confuse spice with flavor. Everything is spicy (fine with me) but everything we had lacked flavor. Ambiance - this has always been a low point for Fukuda but we went anyway because of the value. Now that the food quality has diminished, this feels like a bigger problem. Value - The pricing is at or near the pricing of any sushi restaurant in town now with the exception of the high end. Given how average quality and poor ambiance I now believe that Fukuda's value is at or below average. I love sushi and eaten it for many years all over the world. Fukuda needs to improve. read more

Lots of potential, but ultimately falters in some basic critical areas. I invited some friends out to meet up here due to there being a happy hour offered here. The food was solid, especially during happy hour, but the service was just not on it today. Perhaps it was just an off day, but it leaves me hesitant to recommend or return. Atmosphere: Modern scale Japanese restaurant, lots of covid-19 precautions taken with the glass doors shielded up. Lots of tiny little Japanese trinkets are scattered throughout the restaurant so makes for a cute sight to see. Food: For their happy hour, this is a solid option. My stand out favorites were the Nigiri, especially the salmon. If you have a craving for good fatty tasting salmon this is the place to get your little fix. I also got the Basil Chicken Wings and the Ninja Roll. The wings were okay $6.50 for 5 wings left me kind of wanting more with a little more flavor and oomph, other than just salty garlic. The Ninja roll was OKAY too, essentially a run of the mill avocado roll with spicy mayo. Service: Now this is unfortunately where my largest critique will come from my personal experience. Upon entering it seemed I was a little bit RUSHED as the store owner (Woman in more casual clothing), didn't seem to really understand what I meant when I said I had a reservation AT 6:15. She thought I meant I had a reservation FOR 6 people, I had to correct her twice that, that was not the case. After I was sat down, this comes the area where I think needs the largest improvement. My server, whom's name according to the bill is FELY, was very INATTENTIVE, I felt as though others servers attended my party more than herself. My first flag came when I was sat down and she didn't come by to take my order even after past the 15-20 minute mark. On top of that due to Happy hour being a limited time she put in an order for my party before 7, which is when happy hour ends. However when our food came out, a dish was MISSING. She was about to charge full price if it'd not been for my party to back me up in saying that we all ordered something before happy hour and dishes were simply missing. BEGRUDGINGLY she complied, but not without some extra voices chiming in. This unfortunately really hurt the experience and leaves me wanting to recommend other spots than this for a sushi fix. Note: Apologies for no pictures, nothing here is really that "grammable" that you can't find elsewhere. Overall, maybe it was just an off day, but regardless it was not simply one mistake it was a couple of things. Bluntly I would have to say I will not be wanting to return. I've only eaten here during happy hour but they have such a varied menu and the prices are really great. I ordered the tamago nigiri and maguro nigiri, yakitori, and a fresh tuna roll and a crazy roll. I know it's a lot but I was quite satisfied at the end. Everything was great. The service was attentive and polite and I recommend coming here to get your Japanese fix. The yakitori took a little longer than my sushi but it was very delicious. It was fresh off the grill and the teriyaki sauce was savory but not overwhelming. The tuna nigiri was buttery and delicious and I really enjoyed the crazy roll, it had tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, cucumber, and jalapeño. It was probably my favorite. This was my second time trying Fukuda, and both times the quality of sushi was great. Around one o'clock on a Saturday, they weren't too busy. Good service! I must say, after COVID started, the sushi "experience" has has changed everywhere. I used to enjoy talking and joking around with sushi chefs while they worked. Being a sushi lover, I'm always on the lookout for the best sushi in town! Fukuda was introduced to me by my sister a few years ago and it's become one of our go-to sushi spots! Their appetizers are so good and the sushi never disappoints! The hell dragon roll is my favorite! The whole roll is deep fried and it comes with smoked salmon, cream cheese, jalapeño, shrimp tempura topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce and sriracha! The flavors together is a party in my mouth! The colossal crunch shrimp roll and the yellowtail is delicious as well! They pan sear the gyoza to perfection and the spicy garlic edamame always has the perfect amount of spice! The calamari tempura is decent but it could if used a little more flavor and I wasn't the biggest fan of the crab puffs! Overall 10/10! The rolls alone takes the cake! Got an opportunity to take my mother to a Japanese food favorite and it didn't disappoint. I did notice that they broke up their menu so the sushi, non-sushi, and drinks are separate. Good call as it's less overwhelming and an indecisive foodie (that's us Libras out there) can choose much easier. The Nitty Gritty So I had 2 rolls, the Patriot and the Daraku roll. The Daraku was awesome. It really made me smile and was absolutely Beautiful. It's worth a try and is one of their new rolls. Hats off to the chef on that one. The Patriot roll was ... different. It was listed as spicy, but thats mainly if you're sensitive to jalapenos. I didn't really taste much spice. The white sauce tasted like plain mayonnaise which took the roll down a notch. I would have enjoyed it more without the mayo, or with a spicy mayo to compliment the other flavors. The mayo made the texture and the flavor more bland. All in all both rolls were good, but I'd recommend the Daraku roll if you're looking to try a new roll on the menu. read more

Randomly came across this Sushi gem while searching for food in the Woodlands area. Seating was evenly spaced out and all the staff wore masks. Started off by ordering the spicy garlic edamame (great flavors & just enough spice) & also got a salmon, yellowtail, scallop & flounder nigiri (super fresh & melt in your mouth). For a roll, I ordered the Liger (deep fried w/ tuna/salmon/white fish/avocado) and it was so good! It was very affordable and especially of how fresh the fish was. I've been to Fukuda multiple times for lunch. I sometimes work in the woodlands and this place usually comes to mind when I'm in the area and thinking about what to eat. I tend to go with the bento box because it's such a great option. You won't leave hungry! They give generous portions and you have so many sides with the bento- tempura, salad and soup, crab puff, egg roll. Today I tried the chicken nabeyaki udon which comes with 2 shrimp tempura. It happened to be 48 degrees which is weird for late April and I wanted soup- this hit the spot! The broth is tasty but not overly salted and there's plenty of noodles, meat & veggies. Here I am, 9 years later and this place is my favorite Japanese restaurant than any other in Greater Houston period! Our usual waitress, Gun. is outstanding and so is Ikea. Food is absolutely fresh. This evening we had our usual appetizers: miso soup, seaweed salad, spicy edamame and the chicken basil wings; my 3 yrs old daughter also enjoyed the miso and seaweed salad and had chicken fried rice and I love that they add in fresh broccoli, green squash and other veggie fixins, and I know they are fresh because the veggies are not overcooked in the stir-fry. My husband I had our usual peppered tuna..3 orders and he tried out the Japanese redfish. Oh! We also requested an off menu item, it's a spicy bok choy dish...yummy and fresh as well. They have an excellent happy hour menu with a variety of food items and the hot sake doesn't disappoint either.
