I love Fumo!! I've been to their Amsterdam location several times and it never disappoints. This time around I came with a few co-workers for lunch and we had a great experience. The bread with olive oil/balsamic vinegar that they give as a starter is so so good! We decided to share the rice balls as an appetizer and they were delicious - highly recommend them. For our entrees we had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza (my ultimate fave!!!), the baked ziti, and the penne caprese. Everything was amazing. Service was pretty fast so its perfect if you want to get a quick bite. The decor also deserves a mention as it was very bright, green, and airy - gives off the feeling of sitting outside minus the hot temperatures. No complaints here! I had the chicken parm but I also tried the other dishes and they were all amazing. I will definitely be coming back. Fumo is a great Italian spot and definitely a hidden gem in the upper west side/Harlem food scene. I found this place by accident over 3 years ago and it's managed to be one of the few places I visit on a constant basis. The Spaghetti Fungi is by far one of the best plates of pasta I have tried in NYC. The rice balls are also a perfect appetizer (although I do wish they served more than 3 rice balls). The cocktails are well made - their old fashioned is actually pretty tasty. It's pretty rare to find a restaurant in NYC that makes you want to revisit it. Fumo is definitely it. read more

In November we held a private party at FUMO for about 40 guests. Like any other host we were nervous and wanted everything to be flawless. We were EXCEPTIONALLY pleased with the care and attention the owner Piero of FUMO gave to our event. The room was ready on time and set up perfectly. The appetizers came out on time hot and delicious, spicy calamari, a choice of pizza's, and rice balls. They generously kept the drinks flowing as the staff was very attentive. Our first course included two salad and pasta. The main course Salmon and Chicken Marsala. The owner made the great suggestion that everything be served family style so no one had to choose and could eat everything. It was the RIGHT DECISION. THERE WAS SO MUCH FOOD - and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. We received SO many compliments on the food. The team worked very well together and handled several special requests (for vegans and vegetarians). The space is PERFECT for a private event up to 60 people (they have a side room). There's plenty of good pizza bars/Italian restaurants, this one unfortunately is not. The night started with a rude (host?) dismissing me and my party from the moment we arrived. I had to show this rude and unprofessional 5'5 man proof that I called the restaurant and had made reservations. When seated, you immediately get a sense of what the environment in this place will be for the next 90 minutes. The busboys circle your table like hungry sharks waiting to take your plates, my baked ziti was just alright, oh and my tiramisu cake tasted like whip cream and wafers. have been here many times and the food is very good, but sadly cannot recommend because they do not honor their specials. we had a 9:30 reservation and they claim to have a 9:30-late special of $10 pizza and $10 wine, but when we received the check, everything was full price. we were told that we placed our order before 9:30, even though the time on the receipt was 9:36. we only got the pizza price changed and not the wine. so wouldn't recommend if hoping for the special price! if you don't mind paying full price, then come because the food is yummy! read more

I read many great reviews about this place, so I was excited to try it for brunch. If you want a cheap bottomless brunch- this is your place ($18.95 for 1.5hours). I'm so glad I was able to secure a table on Valentine's Day. I had brunch with two good friends. The food at Fumo was exceptional and memorable. Cute atmosphere and an AMAZING lunch deal. On weekdays from 11-4, a giant plate of pasta is $10. $10!!! I couldn't believe how sizable the portions still were. I need to begin this review by discussing the vibe! Wow. Talk about sultry date vibes whewwwww. Loved it. R&B flooded the space and as the sun went down, the wait staff put out oil candles and their light illuminated the space. The music got a teenie louder and the lights got dimmer all in sequence perfectly orchestrated with the sunset. Ugh! Perfection. A+ there. I would definitely return here just for the vibe. Portions are hefty! So in retrospect if I'm splitting with another it have to split app and split main. But you will want to try everything so good luck making a selection. I also want to try a different combo when I come back. The fried mozz deserves to be in the hall of fame of something. The cheese pull on those bad boys is nice and the breading is crispy! We asked to be seated indoors as NYC indoor dining has resumed and they refused. There were two couples inside of the restaurant literally empty but we weren't allowed. Additionally they stated if they closed the plastic covers it would be like indoor dining and could suffer a fine , meanwhile there was a whole open doorway right next to us as well . They have options that are appropriate for a variety of dietary needs and restrictions, and (when the correct order comes), the quality of food is very good. However, they no longer can manage their business. For the past few weeks, not only have they constantly delivered inaccurate orders, they have also cut off communication from their customer base. You cannot access them by phone or online if there are any issues. This evening, the delivery person brought the wrong order. When we informed him of this, he dropped the order on our porch and drove away without communicating the issue to the restaurant. In other words, we paid for overpriced pizza that we didn't order. Will absolutely be researching alternative options in the area. read more

My partner and I used to love FUMOs. We've gotten takeout orders multiple times and the food was delicious. We've sat down and ate inside about twice and the service is slow, and food comes out cold. We just got takeout again and we are beyond disappointed. My food had maybe half a scoop of spaghetti and it was extremely greasy. You could see the oil in the tomato sauce. His chicken was extremely unseasoned, and his penne a la vodka tasted like ONION a la vodka. 65 dollars for 2 bad dishes.
