Although I've never actually been to Palio's Pizza Café (it has curb appeal) I can say their pizza is outstanding. For take out it's impressive and it beats all the other big chain places. It's not greasy, they do a thin crust that I really like and I can get all my crazy veggie combinations. There is a small charge for delivery but they do offer the service so I'm not going to complain. From what I can tell from driving by, they also have a nice little patio. One of these days when it warms up I fully intend to try it out. Prices seem reasonable and comparable to what other places offer up and occasionally I run across a coupon. They are my new favorite pizza take-out. Update: Still my favorite local pizza place but I've now personally gone in. AND I've had more than just their pizza and I still dig it. Parking can get a little crazy during peak dining hours but don't let that deter you. You'll find it's worth a couple circles in the parking lot. Or better yet, get there early. read more

3 stars for the food + 1 star for the service = 2 stars. OK, so my friend and I came in here at 8:40 PM to have dinner. When we walked in, there were a few tables full of people eating their meals. The gal at the counter said, "are you here to get take out or eat here?" We told her we wanted to eat there. She said, "You can't, because we close at 9, so we're not seating anyone else." We were shocked. Excuse me, but when is 8:40 too late when you are still open, and still have patrons eating? Then, we looked around -- they had half the restaurant dark, with chairs up on the tables. WHAT!?!?!? Also, the place reeked of bleach. It's great that they clean, but seriously? The bleach smell is so strong that it overpowers pizza cooking in a pizza restaurant? So, we were famished, so we ordered Calzones to go. The food was fine, but nothing I would go back to get. The whole terrible service thing ruined me for this place. Honestly, I've never been to a Palio's, but I've considered getting their Groupons. Now I never will. This place is in my neighborhood. I finally tried it for the first time over the weekend since food options in The Colony SUCK! Anyway, I was highly impressed with the pizza and the customer service. I would have preferred the crust to be more thin, but it wasn't overwhelmingly thick. Lots of specialty pizzas and toppings to choose from. Also lots of pasta and salad dishes to choose from too. We have ordered from multiple Palio's around the DFW area and haven't ever had the problem we had here. Their pizza is pretty decent, not great but the service was HORRIBLE. We went there today on Sunday at 7 so it was not very busy. We ordered two pizza's a gluten free one and a large. We got settled in with our two young children at a table. After waiting TWENTY minutes the lady walking the orders out came to us and said "umm I'm sorry but we don't have any more gluten free crusts". (They couldn't figure that out when I ordered or before we waited 20 minutes?!?!) I have a wheat allergy so there was no way I could eat there now. So she asked if we wanted a refund and the answer was yes because I couldn't eat a regular pizza. Then she asked if we still wanted our other one and we said if you've already started making it sure no problem. Instead of refunding my credit card she gave me cash back (which was fine) for the whole receipt. I said I thought we were going to still get our other pizza? We made it clear we didn't mind paying for it, but she said "I think they are going to give it to you free". The manager shouted something at us across the bar but there was no way we could hear what he was saying. So we buckled down and waited a little longer. Then the manager finally walked around the counter with an angry look on his face and said "I gave you a refund, what else do you want?!?" I calmly told him that since you didn't have a gluten free crust that we accepted a refund, but were told that our other pizza was still being made. He replied tersely with "no when we didn't have the gluten free crust we cancelled the order". I have NEVER been treated so rudely by a manager in my entire life. Not only did he not apologize for not telling us TWENTY minutes earlier that they didn't have Gluten Free crusts he was just out right rude. Also in twenty minutes they hadn't told us what was going nor asked what we wanted to do order they couldn't fulfill. Needless to say we gathered up our two kids and left. Skip this Palio's-- Bad service, wrong orders and rude manager Didn't mention we couldn't order the lunch specials with the living social coupon. Unlike other Palio's, no bread nor salad was served after 30 minutes we ordered three lunch specials, one calzones and one gyro. The manager brought the pastas and breads together and that's when he told us we could not get the salads since we used the coupon. (Um... we have already paid for 30 minutes, I would have ordered differently if I knew I was not getting the lunch salad!). Then I realized my gyro does not have the salad nor the chips. I could not eat without salad....so after I have settled my kids down, I asked the manager was it because I used a coupon that they also took away the salad on my gyro and the chips? They blamed me because I mentioned " just sandwich", I replied I said that to the cashier just so she would not mix up with the lunch specials -- sandwich. I ordered one calzone, but they brought out two and only at that time I realized they charged me for two calzones too. No apology, no plan to fix their mistakes either. I didn't want to deal with them anymore so as soon as my kids were done eating, we were out of there. Go to the Frisco location, service is much better there. If you want a good gyro, go to Fadi's, also in Frisco. Even with the coupon, I don't think it worths my time. I feel like I wasted one hour of my time there and didn't even get one thing right (including the correct toppings I ordered for my kid in the calzone). Visited for the first time this weekend and wow - great pizza! They prepared our pizza quickly, along with the cheese bread, and I'm happy. Coming from Wisconsin, land of outstanding cheese fries/sticks/bread, Palio's are miles beyond the offerings from the large chains. My only point of disappointment, if it can be called that, was the butter/garlic dipping sauce. I'm used to Papa John's version which simply tastes better. However, Palio's cheese bread is so much better that I don't mind not dipping them, where it's a requirement elsewhere. I'm looking forward to eating here more. I went here once with group if friends and lived it so much that we went again with family for second time and my husband doesn't even like pizza but he eats here and enjoys them as much as I do. We came on October 19th with our kids and it was probably a very bad idea. We ordered an icecream, Kid's Pizza, 1 Personal pizza (Achari Paneer) and a medium pizza (Achari Chicken Paneer). We waited for our Pizza for 45 minutes and never got it. 15 mts after we placed our order we were told chocolate ice cream is not available and we choose vanilla instead. That never came as well. When we asked why the pizza was taking long the front desk told us it was being made. We were told it was being made asked to wait some more. The ice cream still didn't come. When we approached again we were told we would get a free pizza and ice cream and we said we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes. We asked for a refund and got it. Our toddler had been waiting for his ice cream and pizza for 45 minutes and was uneasy and fussy. Meena who manages the place was barely apologetic and just said other than a refund what else can be done. Very bad service and would never recommend this place for a family. I have been here only once. And only for take - out. But the Pizza was really really good. Just tasted very fresh and opposite of pizza hut's pizza. When I mean "opposite of pizza hut's pizza". My wife and I ordered delivery pizza from Palios Pizza Cafe - large pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. It was delivered very promptly and was reasonably priced. This particular pizza combination is one of our favorites, so we have ordered it many times from over a dozen places. Although the pizza was warm and the crust decent, the overall taste was average - not bad, but not great. We also didn't like that they cut it into squares. I'm a big fan of Palio's pizza cafe. I especially love that they have a Desi pizza menu which seems to be the most popular items from the menu. I had the chicken tikka pizza - pretty good and the chicken was chopped pretty small. Not too spicy. The chutney garlic bread is pretty good also and has a nice garlic and spicy kick to it. We've lived in The Colony for going on a decade and Palio's has always been one of our go to places for quick easy delivery of some pretty good pizza, until now. We called for a delivery last night just before 7pm. I understand this is peak business time and the wait may be a little longer. We have ordered from Palio's in the past during peak hours and had no issues, until this time. We ordered two pizzas and a dessert and we're told 30-45 minutes. After an hour I called back to get a status update. After being on hold for five minutes, which I understand they are busy, the young lady comes back on to help me. It takes her several minutes to find my order as she only seems to locate the order by $ amount. I couldn't remember it so gave my name, address and phone #. Finally she locates it and tells me it's out for delivery. Hallelujah! 30 minutes pass... No pizza. I call back. This time she is obviously snowed under and I do feel bad for her, but this is the restaurant business, and it's crunch time where you make or break your business. This girl was not trained properly and had no business handling even this position on a busy Friday. She can't tell me the status of my order. HAS NO CLUE! So I ask to speak to a manager. After another five minute hold she comes back to tell me that nobody there is at mgmt level. What?? You're telling me that during the busiest time of the week there is not a manager in the house?? He is out on deliveries I'm told. WHAT??? At this point my wife, who gets very hangry, is literally in tears because she is so hungry. At this point I can't help but to chuckle at the situation only to get berated by the little girl on the phone who can't do her job. She says, "I can't believe you're laughing at me! I'm being polite! (Yelling). Do you not hear the phones ringing? Would you like me to send you a picture"? A picture? Really? I've had enough at this point and say, "Obviously my order is no longer of importance so I will cancel so you can tend to all those happy customers that are blowing up your phone lines"! Palio's new owners - You just lost a repeat customer and with the influx of competition in The Colony right now I highly suggest you get it together or you won't be in business much longer. At this moment... Right this very moment, PALIO'S IS THE WORST OPTION FOR PIZZA IN THE COLONY. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. P.S. Put in an online order with Dominoes and had pizza in less than 30 minutes.
