I'd heard good things about this place so when a friend wanted to meet for breakfast and suggested funnels, I decided to check it out. Located right by sleeping giant State Park in Quinnipiac College. It's in a great location although blink and you'll miss it as it's tucked away. The interior was nice and the menu was well placed however, I was not very impressed with my sandwich. I ended up getting the Caprese Panini, but when I got it, it was oozing o Out cheese because I think it needed a more substantial bread than I was given. With my unsweetened iced tea it came out to be about $14 which was not a bad amount, but the sandwich left a little bit to be desired. My friend got an egg sandwich and it looked much better so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing and we'll have to try out some other breakfast items.

Every "local" seems to know this spot. A nice place to sit and chat for awhile with both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and then choose where you want to sit. They have a lot of fun seasonal drinks for coffee and non-coffee lovers alike. The croissant was fresh and flaky on my bacon egg and cheese that I ordered. They have so many options worth checking out! There was a line when I walked in, but the woman at the register was a pro. She helped the line move quickly and had a very positive vibe.

I used to drive by this place all the time curious how it was. Well I'm very glad I decided to stop in one day. This is officially my new favorite breakfast spot. Best bacon egg and cheese I've ever had. The avocado toast is great. I also enjoyed my omelette. I cut it in half and made a sandwich with the sour dough bread and avocado. It was phenomenal. I love the music played there too, it creates a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. There was so many people in there yet it was still quiet; I could hear the music clearly. It made for a very enjoyable place for a breakfast date. There's outdoor seating and major perk that it's next to the bike trail. A great place to walk after eating.

My wife and I love trying new breakfast places and Funcle's is special. The maple sausage is killer and the coffee is a great compliment. The star, because of all the place around the state we have been to, is the home fries. They are huge and delicious and we've never seen home fries done this way anywhere else. Great job!!!

Delicious food and very friendly people. They added a lot new decorations in the store. It's neat and pretty. Love it!

I met my friend here for breakfast this morning. His choice. I love trying new places, especially when they're tiny little places tucked into unassuming spots! My initial thought was, okay, the floor is sticky, how good will the food be?! The menu is small (love that)! I am an eggs Benedict lover! So I tried theirs, it offered prosciutto and pico de gallo on a homemade biscuit. I replaced the prosciutto with bacon, which they had no problem doing. It had a tasty hollandaise unlike anything I've ever had. All this atop their home fries! I ordered a hot tea, many flavors to choose from, but fresh and hot! Hot is key for me! So thank you for that! The food came out fast-unbelievably fast! This is so great because I was so hungry when I arrived! I'm going to def want to go back for another breakfast option or lunch next time!!

A must when visiting daughter at Quinnipiac. Pastries are the best and their breakfast burritos are very delicious.

It's very spacious and has an older kind of setting. They also offer a lot of outdoor seating. Nice decorum. It''s also located downtown so you can just walk to the park or sit in front of the waterfall if you don't wanna dine in. Food [5/5]: I got the cuban tacos and they were extremely delicious I'd come back for these again. Their entire menu sounds delicious to be honest so I'd like to try more things from there. But the tacos were very filling and the potatoes on the side were a great add on. The wrap itself was sweet and tasty. Service [5/5]: There was a lot of college kids in there and they're honestly running it well. The adults are probably in the kitchen but they're very friendly and I had the woman with the sleeve tattoo as my server and she recommended the cuban tacos. Fast and friendly service is always great I was in there for no longer than 30 minutes. Loved it. Overall I'd recommend! Theres no parking since it's downtown so you'll have to hope you can find street parking or park your car somewhere else and walk like I did. But it's in a great location! great food! and even greater service! I loved it!

I feel the need to leave this review here now just in case I forget to leave a actual proper long review. This is our third time, a humble looking joint so we come here always just expecting it's going to be " meh". But we keep coming back, collecting calories around our waist because everything is so good here! Service - always awesome. Everyone here looks like they work cohesively, everyone is smiling working hard . Coffees always refilled. Food- fantastic, always fresh, on point. This time I got an omelette with tomatoes and this is the first time I had an omelet where the tomatoes don't get mushy. Their hash browns are also amazing! ... while we like the shredded we LOVE the fried- like mini French fries. While all of their proteins are awesome - their turkey bacon deserves a special shout out because it often misses the mark at most places.. but not here . And then there are the little things - clean bathrooms, condiments on the table are clean and not sticky or gross !! Anyway, come here.

Brian stone was closer but I skipped over it based on the rating and the pictures of the decor. We drove a little farther to State street Cafe and it was too busy, so we drove to Brown Stone. Stepping in reminded me of "The Pantry" in LA. A little run down, stuck in time with the decor, but a recognized local favorite and food go to for those that know. Brown Stone had the same vibe and feel as soon as we went In. I loved seeing the locals and the staff immediately greeted us and attended to us, bringing some coffee. Breakfast items are relatively simple, nothing fancy here, nor were we looking for it. I just wanted a good meal. I ordered the avocado and ham omelette special and my wife the egg and Belgian waffle. Breakfast came out quick, hot, and good! I was pleasantly surprised, and should not have been so judgy. Like the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. Looking forward to going back tomorrow morning. I'll take some photos to add to this later.
