Knocked off a star for service. I got a text from the boyfriend saying to hurry up, because the server was getting all hostile about the table. There were two of them holding up a table for three, because I was en route. I was rushing there, imagining a full restaurant with people waiting outside with nowhere to sit and these two guys hoarding a larger table than visually necessary. When I got there, however, the restaurant was half empty. Wtf? They were actually pressured to order food before I got there, because the lady kept harassing them. I ordered when I arrived, but my food came over fifteen minutes later, which really sucked. We were discussing whether or not this was payment for holding the table. Maybe because I was late, my food should come out super late too? Crazy. I was waiting for a refill on my water for the longest time. After the food was delivered, no one seemed to care about us at all to check on how we were doing. After I was finished, I asked for a box to take home my remaining food. They gave me a broken box. When I asked for another, they chose to offer me tape instead. So, they taped close my broken box instead of giving me a new one. How crappy. Not bad for a yakitori place. I'd say it's fairly authentic here. Menu is pretty limited outside of meat-related stuff, so be aware of that fact. Bento box is probably the best value. We arrived around 8 pm on a Saturday night and it wasn't too terribly busy, so we didn't experience the slow service that other reviewers did. Absolutely great place, but only four star because of your rude neighbor. The next door Karaoke Bleu has the worst manager ever. When I parked my car in the Furaibo's parking lot, the manager of the Karaoke came out and asked where am I going to have dinner. Since I had some accent which made me cannot pronounce "Furaibo" properly, the manager did not allow me to leave and said he would tow away my car. Fortunately my friend speaks good English and he saved me. And I thought that would be the end of the story. But the manager did not stop making things difficult for me. When I was trying to move out my car, I slightly tounched another car but I stopped right away and checked there was no damage on the other car. The manger, again, saw all of this and he called security personnel of his bar to force me shut down my engine. At this time I started to realize that he has nothing to do with the Furaibo restaurant except that they share the same parking lot! I was forced to wait there until they found the owner of the other car. The owner was suprised by my "honesty" because she cannot find any clue on her car. Finally I was allowed to leave and the manager yelled at me,"dont come back!" Furaibo would be sad for their neighbor who believes he was the king of the street. Worst experience ever. read more

Honestly this franchise was one of my favorite eateries. However tonight even though I drove over 40 minutes to dine there it is my last. Horrendous service! As the waitress was handing me a bowl of my must have (tori soboro) chicken rice bowl it slipped and fell flat on the table. An accident on both party. She then asked would I like to order another one...ANOTHER ONE!?!? It was 1 of 5 bowls in our party and she charged me for the bowl that fell. What in the heck is this service. Foul and disgusting. How can an establishment choose to run a successful business in such awful means no one could ever fathom. I have been to the chain for over a decade. This place is super consistent, you can depend on your food to taste just as amazing the 100th time you've eaten there. The boo and I like to sit at the bar so we can watch the guys move around the small galley and create these delicious dishes. If you like fried chicken, chicken wings, and white pepper you HAVE to have the fried chicken wings or any of the other fried chicken dishes. We haven't really gone wrong here, so point at what piques your interest and enjoy! We always get one chicken dish and the eggplant with pork sauce. Yumm... LOVE THE WINGS.... the white pepper seasonings, paired with the rice and salad, makes a great, favorite go-to take out dinner. Unfortunately, I live in Orange County and no longer pass by this area, but the next time I'm here, I really want to try the deep fried baby halibut. My mouth is watering, just thinking about it. Excellent Food, great service and decent price but terrible parking!! That sums up this place. Their signature dish here is the furaibo chicken wings... which comes in different levels of spicyness ( i tried all levels and can barely differentiate which is which. Lol ) i highly recommend the hanpen cheese too which is a deep friend cheese wrapped in fish cake. I'm not sure how to describe Furaibo chicken wings, because if you haven't had them before and you are a wings fan, you must try them. The Double Teba Course ($6.95) is a great value for the price. Now you're essentially getting double the wings with soup, rice and a salad. Quick note: The spiciest flavoring on the wings did not seem that spicy. And parking is in the back, it's located in the Pho So 1 plaza on the corner of Redondo Beach Blvd and Western. Service was also friendly and fast! read more

Make sure to ask them how long you will be waiting before you order. I just ordered spicy shrimp but it took an hour which is crazy, why? My family(we are 9)all ordered steak(cooks longer than shrimp). Spicy shrimp is just normal or common small shrimps with additional hto sauce that you can see in buffalo sauce. My friend has been urging me to try this place out since I first moved to LA so I finally got a chance to go this weekend. This place was in a plaza with other Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants. Plenty of parking spaces available. As this place was well known for their chicken, we started out with their Tebasaki regulary spicy and I was not disappointed. it came with 7 or 8 pieces for $4.50 ish and it was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. We tried 4-5 other appetizers that were all good. The only one I might not get next time may be the imitation crab salad. Finished off with a Yaki-onigiri (grilled rice ball) and even though the two of us were full, the tab only came out to $37!! I even had beer with my meal so it felt really cheap. Any other Izakaya (JPN tapas bar) that I usually go to usually costs more than $50 for two people easily. If you are going here, I'd recommend calling ahead and making a reservation (even for same day) just to make sure you are guaranteed seating. Overrall, good food, good service, verrrry affordable. Furaibo definitely has its appeal - their famous crispy Chicken wings, crispy fried squid on a bed of salad, saba on miso soup, enoki and scallops and asparagus/cabbage concoction. These dishes were all acceptably tasty. The wings are definitely worth coming for. Our group of 9 removed our shoes, sat on the floor traditional Japanese style and enjoyed our dishes. We were satisfied and had a secluded enclosed spot in the back. If you are hungry and expecting large portions, this is not your place. I visited Furaibo for lunch with a friend from work recently. I was surprised to see the fried chicken lunches were named Tarzan, Jane and "Chita." The Japanese connection to Tarzan seems pretty random to me, but maybe I'm just not in the know. I ordered the double Tarzan, which is two half chickens for about nine bucks, and it comes with a salad, miso soup and a bowl of rice. It sounded like a tremendous value and appealed to the glutton in me, even though I knew that I probably couldn't eat a whole chicken for lunch. Fortunately for me the chicken was only slightly larger than a Cornish game hen. The soup came out first, and it was very good. A bowl of sticky rice was served next, followed by the double Tarzan which was plated alongside the salad and a paper cup filled with salad dressing. Additionally, the small heap of tuna fish that was nestled amongst the salad greens struck me as unusual, but not necessarily unwelcome. Deep fissures had been symmetrically carved into the chicken flesh before it was fried, giving it an almost alien appearance. Probably all three, I concluded. The tips of the drumsticks and wings had been thoughtfully wrapped in foil to serve as handles for eating the chicken. As I gnawed on my little alien facehugger-looking piece of chicken I was disappointed to come to the realization that it had been woefully overcooked. The dark meat was just barely moist, not juicy, and the white meat was completely dried out and practically inedible. It was a shame because whatever seasonings it had been coated in were very flavorful and quite delicious. The sweet and yet spicy crispy skin was the best part. I discussed the point of the chicken being overcooked with my friend from work who pointed out to me that the cooks behind the counter were all Mexicans. I asked him what that had to do with it, and he said that Mexicans have a tendency to overcook the hell out of everything they cook. According to him, if you order a steak medium rare and a Mexican cooks it, you will get a well done steak every time. My family has been going to this resturant for more than 20 years now (before I was even born!) and this place never disappoints. Idk if i should be a bit embarassed that the people who work there know my name and have seen me when I was a baby (I'm almost 20 years old lol). All of my friends LOVE this place and some of them are very picky eaters so that tells you how wonderful this place is. I usually get the teba saki chicken extra spicy with some ponzu sauce with grated white radish in it and the sweet eggplant with the ground beef in it (i forget what it's called) and i put that on top of my rice. Small and low-key place but one of my favorite casual Japanese bento and tapas-style places. The Tebasaki chicken wings are the best and I always order a few helpings of these (one order is never enough)!! I've ordered mild to spicy (but even the spicy isn't that spicy). They have a dry rub on them that results in the perfect mixture of spiciness and sweetness. The Soboro is great as well (ground chicken mixed with rice) - the chicken has great flavoring and is moist. The bento boxes are good and come with baby shrimp (small, salty and crispy - I eat the whole thing including tail!). I also really liked the fried halibut (karei) - it comes served with a part of the fish fried as a bowl (you can break off parts that are crispy and eat them as well). For sure get the wings. They are very small, comes with 8 pieces but so well seasoned! Loved that it was coated and sweet and salty. It kinda tasted smoky though I know they just fried it. The Chita was also good. It was the leg and thigh and had the same seasoning as the wings. Very good but it tasted really fatty. Also had the steak. It's $11 but very thin and had teriyaki sauce. It was good but don't think it's worth the money. I would go with the Korean bbq plate to get money's worth. I would also skip the fried rice, cause it was just any fried rice with sausages that almost tasted like hot dogs. The 5 stars is for the chicken. I've been coming here for forever and at one point my friend and I were here once a week. The food is always good. The service is always good. A recent incident peeved me, though. We've never had to wait for a seat, which used to surprise me bc we'd go prime dinner time. This time we went on a Saturday around 8pm? My friend put our name down on the list after three other parties. They call in one party. Then they call the other two at the same time. We were standing out there for a good 45 minutes while we saw a bunch of open tables. Wth? Finally my friend goes in and asks if we're going to be seated and the lady says is the whole party here, talking as if we just walked in. WHAT! My friend said yes, we're on the waiting list! They basically didn't bother to check the waiting list to see that there was another party waiting. We were standing in plain view of the restaurant, too. Other than that unfortunate incident, the service once we were seated was really good, as usual. We ordered our usual orders-- these are a must: Hanpen cheese Agedashi tofu Yellowtail collar Clams in sake broth The Filipino lady (this is an assumption, I THINK she's Filipino) is usually the one that helps us out and she's always really sweet. Just had lunch here. I had always loved it here in the past, but the dishes we ordered today were very disappointing. I had the sweet and spicy chicken karaage lunch special and my mom had the Korean BBQ lunch special. The miso soup, salad, tsukemono were good, however my chicken karaage was way too salty! I am the person who puts salt on everything so for me to say a dish is salty means it is. My moms kalbi consisted of plateful of all bones that had a lot of fat on it. The seasoning so good, BF calls them "little wings from heaven". What to Order: I usually get regular spicy Chita (leg & thigh) with a side of rice and agedashi tofu - more than enough food for me while BF will devour 2-3 orders of Teba (wings) and a side of rice. The agedashi tofu is good, 4 tofu pieces but they don't use bonito flakes. Price: The above order (just 2 orders for BF) plus tea comes out to about $23. Very reasonable for a very satisfying meal. Service: I always have a good experience, waitresses are attentive without being overbearing. The only thing is they could probably bring the check faster, but we eat pretty fast.
