The tebasaki wings are just as good as I remember. I've eaten the wings at the OG location, the Hacienda location (RIP), and now here. These wings transcend time and location. They are minimally dressed and maximally good. Ten. I'd come back for these alone. For my entree, I opted for the miso ramen ($13.99). The miso broth is topped with pork chashu + seaweed. It was fine, but because Furaibo doesn't specialize in ramen, it was a very cookie cutter bowl. The chashu was a bit too porky for me and the ramen noodles were the ordinary kind you find in instant ramen. If you find yourself here for lunch, order a lunch special. Because duh. The oyakodon set ($17.50) is good and the pork cutlet course ($17.95) is even better. The sets come with rice, soup, salad, and pickles. It's a really good value if you're looking for one. I think Furaibo is more suited for dinner. Good Japanese drinking food. The lunch menu is a bit limited. We had some apps, ordered lunch specials, and overall had a good meal.

Inspection score!

We will miss you! You've fed us for over 20 years for some special occasions and other days that we just wanted good food. Thank you for all the great meals!

I've been coming here with my family since I was a kid and truly appreciate that the quality has not changed since. tebasaki chicken: comes in an order of 6 for $9.95. Normal spice is the perfect amount of flavor, extra spicy is just an extra helping of white pepper on top of it (not spicy at all aside a slight tingle of the lips). honestly, I would get a double order of these in normal spice to taste these, even the ones that can't do spicy at all won't have trouble with this level of spice. age nasu: eggplant swimming in a delicious sake/shoyu based sauce that I've been dying to make since I first tried it YEARS ago. fried fish: you know this is good when the family orders their own plate/will not share with others. such a light but crunchy batter, comes with tonkatsu sauce and tartar sauce. a large rice fed 3 people, since the other person that got the dinner box had rice included in their meal. dinner box: tebasaki chicken (comes with 8 wings), tsunomono, salad, shrimp, and other fixings for $24.95 ribeye steak: comes sizzling on a platter and pre cut into thick strips with butter and a slice of lemon on top. always delicious, and with a side of ponzu and daikon oroshi. no receipt photos were taken but everything came out to about $120, which is a steal in my book. great food in Tozai plaza. so happy to know they're still the same for 20+ years :)

Amazing spot for happy hour! Their beer, Chu hi and food menu was great. We came on a Friday right before HH ended at 6pm and got seated in the back on the tatami. The wings, tofu, and pork belly dishes felt really homestyle and nostalgic to my family's cooking. We ordered the fried fish on top of the HH stuff and it was crispy and satisfying especially with beer. Service was attentive and super friendly. I'll come back soon to try their main menu!

Furaibo is one of my favorite restaurants ever. I have been regularly going to their locations since I was a kid, and this is the location I frequent the most! My family always gets the tebasaki, tori karaage, mixed ochazuke, baby shrimp, agedashi tofu, and gyukushi. Furaibo has my favorite chicken karaage out of every restaurant I've tried. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, and the staff often gives us extra lemons since we love to drizzle our karaage with lots of lemon. They also have my favorite chicken wings (tebasaki) out of everywhere I've ever tried. We always get the extra spicy, because it is the most flavorful. It's not too spicy at all and the amount of spice complements the flavors, and that's coming from someone with a low spice tolerance who genuinely does not enjoy spicy foods. I highly recommend everyone check out Furaibo. It is a cozy place with very kind and attentive staff and the best food!

I loved FuRaiBo! All the food was tasty and you can definitely tell it was made with quality ingredients. The Chazuke was my favorite, so comforting and warm for the weather. My friends and I split a couple dishes and a few skewers which came to a perfect meal. There was no wait at 5:30pm on a Monday.

My family and I have loved coming to this amazing spot for years! The place itself is slightly on the smaller side, but there's usually not a long wait and the staff are so sweet :) The dinner boxes are the way to go in my opinion! I've gotten the Chita (chicken leg and thigh), Jane (chicken breast), and the Steak (ribeye) and all of them were so juicy and flavorful. It also comes with a salad, miso soup, chicken cutlet, and bunch of other good sides! Give this place a try and I'm sure you'll be back! :)

Furaibo's an authentic, traditional Japanese restaurant that specializes in tebasaki wings. It's great for groups and has an awesome happy hour menu. For our party of 5, we got the house salad, mushroom butter, agedashi tofu, onigiri, yaki onigiri, karaage, 3 orders of wings, the tebasaki dinner box, the steak dinner box, and a couple of hot sakes. It was just the right amount of food. The tebasaki wings are so crispy and flavorful. Furaibo has truly mastered this dish. Each server is friendly and attentive. They came around several times to offer water refills without us having to wait or ask. Parking in this plaza can be pretty hectic, so it's best to come early and beat the dinner rush.

Been eating at this restaurant for over 30 years. Still one of our favorite chicken place. They have happy hours from 5 to 6:30 with $7 wings and beer. Loved all the food: wings, legs, agedashi tofu and whole halibut. The only complaint is the fried halibut, used to be whole fish now it's only half but still cost like it's a whole fish.

I was a regular at Furaibo over 10 years ago but I don't know for what reason I stopped going. But my friends wanted to try some different type of japanese food and we decided to go here. I know they are known for their tebasaki, chicken wings. They were as good as I remember. We ordered a variety of food to share. The food were a little too salty for me but overall it all tasted good. Service was a little slacking even though they were not too busy. It's a little darkish inside but overall a good spot for some beer and chicken wings.

Me & my family have been going to Furaibo for many years! It has the tastiest Japanese style tabasaki chicken wings (comes in sweet, mild, spicy & extra spicy)! Furiabo is a Japanese tapa resturant that has various shareable dishes. They also have bento boxes if you want to get a little bit of everything! Things to try if you have never been: fried baby shrimp, baby halibut, and agenasu (fried eggplant in shoyu sauce). We love this place! Definitely a good place to go if you are looking for authentic small Japanese plates with good friendly service!

I've been coming here for almost 2 decades and have sat at pretty much every table there. I love tebasaki. Their yakitori is not bad either. For me, this is comfort food and a bit of nostalgia as I look back the many times that I've been here with different people. Service is pleasant. Ambiance reminds me of home.

Ask the Community - Furaibo

Do they have a gluten free menu or are items clearly marked?

A lot of our food or the sauces used contains soy sauce. We do have a handful of skewers and other food that doesn't contain it. Our menu doesn't specify it so I would recommend asking the server.

How can I cancel my reservation for dinner tonight because of an illness if restaurant doesn't open until 5?

Just give them a call after 5 to let the staff know please. I appreciate you letting them know. Most people just don't show up which isn't very nice.

Do they do hapen cheese for dinner?

Yes they're available during dinner hours

How MANY wings for the PRICE? I looked on the menu photos and it doesnt say.

If you're looking at the chicken lunch, the teba course is 7 wings and the double teba course is 14 wings.

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.

With so many options, it was honestly a little overwhelming to choose. I decided to keep things simple and ordered the sashimi and broiled mackerel fish set, which came with rice, miso soup, cabbage salad, and macaroni salad. My husband couldn't settle on just one dish, so he went all out with a chicken oyakodon, grilled salmon, steamed eggplant, and a stir-fried chicken and bean sprout dish. The restaurant itself is narrow and deep, which actually reminded me of some of the small alleyway restaurants we visited during our travels in Japan. It added to the cozy and authentic feel. The service was attentive, especially when we requested a few extra items. One thing that really stood out was their ponzu sauce. It seemed to include green onions and perhaps a touch of vinegar, and it was absolutely delicious. It paired perfectly with the sashimi, steamed eggplant, and even the chicken dishes. Next time, I'm definitely going to spend some time studying the menu beforehand. The portions were generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal, and we were lucky enough to find parking right in front of the restaurant.

The first thing I tried was the Sizzling Mushroom Gravy over Crispy Rice; The dish was to die for and my personal favorite thing I tried. I don't even know how to describe how flavorful and well put together the gravy was with mushroom pieces that were perfectly soft and easy to eat. Next was the salad which was so fresh, citrusy, and tasty; It was salty and all the flavors complemented each other so well forming a perfect citrusy salad. After that was the shrimp tempura. It was not too fried/flaky. It was kind of like a taquito. The shrimps flavor was very fresh with a complementary umami flavor. The Sardine Sashimi was super high quality. It was super soft and fatty and ended with a heavy pleasant fishy flavor. The miso grilled cod was great. Not much to say about it was almost creamy and the miso was good. I ate the skin too and it tasted great. The main part of this place is the soba. The kikouchi soba are thicker 100% buckwheat noodles that were very well cooked and pleasant to eat. The Plum "Ume" broth was so refreshing and nice. I ate it cold; I probably would have preferred it hot but the is just a personal preference. The Ginger Pork was great. The pork itself was super gingery without being too pungent. The shredded cabbage was super easy to pick up and eat and the side of noodle salad and miso soup were great complements to the meal. I can tell no corners were cut anywhere and that Otafuku puts a little of effort into every meal they prepare. There is great care for all of the preparations and it was a very special meal. The side soup and bread came out almost immediately. The soup was simple but nice with a bit of pepper, and the bread was so good -- warm, soft, and buttery (I had to pace myself knowing what was coming). The pasta was delicious -- the clams weren't overly "clammy" (lol), and the cream sauce was light and not too heavy.
