Originally located nearby for many years, this shop recently moved into the New York Food Court a few weeks ago. They specialize in cuisine from Henan, China. What the region is known for is their lamb soup and lamb noodles. Well, no doubt they are one of the best there is in all of NYC imho. Few weeks ago, I stopped in for their delicious Lamb Soup w/ Vermicelli & Lamb Innards 羊杂粉丝汤 and it was excellent as usual. Instead of getting the equally yummy Lamb Noodle 羊肉烩面, I ordered the Old Luoyang Beef Soup 老洛阳牛肉汤 instead. This milky broth came with stripes of pancake for dipping. Well, if you like beef soup instead of lamb, then this is for you. I have not tried everything on their menu simply because I can't get past their soup products. My favorites so far are the combo meals, bibimbap, galbitang, and the mackerel combo. Those have consistently been the best dishes I've had here. On this visit, I felt that the food tasted even better than during my previous visits. It seems like they're putting effort into improving and maintaining the quality of their food, which I really appreciate. There was complimentary hot tea and small appetizers of pickled cabbage and shredded potato which were appreciated. We ordered several dishes to share family-style. I recommend the di san xian (amazing eggplant and sauce), the stir-fried lamb with scallions (not gamey at all), and the sweet and sour "squirrel" fish. I was especially impressed by the latter - I haven't found a rendition of squirrel fish that matched what I had in China until now, perfectly filleted and boneless and crispy. Everything was very reasonably priced for the large portion size and the yumminess! Service is what you'd expect from an old-school Chinese spot: dishes come out intermittently whenever they're ready, you sometimes have to flag down a waiter or get up to find one, and I didn't love the whiff of cigarette smoke I caught when walking by one of the private rooms. We got their stir-fried jjampong (smaller version), Busan jjajjangmyeon, and tangsuyuk. Portions were huge, despite us already getting the smaller size. I loved everything we tried. The stir-fried jjampong came with a variety of seafood and it was the first time I've ever tried it! The Busan jjajjangmyeong was saucy, had a smoky-wok flavor, and came with lots of pork and an egg. And, the tangsuyuk was crispy and not too bready. Absolutely delicious and I would love to come back to try their famous cheesy jjajjangmyeon.

The owner was super nice and friendly, she refilled my radish kimchi before I even finished them all. She also made the sweet potato jeon fresh, one of the best jeon I ever had. She kept offering small detailed things that helps me enjoy my meal better, like a small bowl and a spoon for me to scoop the soup out of the hot stone bowl, moving my bowls / food closer to me etc. It truly feels like eating at my grandmother's place. I like how they are not heavy in seasoning, but let me do the seasoning myself. It is perfect when I want something simple and comforting.

The remarkable thing about this place is their absolutely huge kimbap! I didn't have a ruler but I estimate the circumference is 3.5-4 inches. These are the largest kimbap I ever put in my mouth. They are not overly riced and filled with fresh ingredients with good flavor. We also had the Spicy tteokbokki for 2 and it had a good flavor and nice spice. I am not the biggest tteokbokki fan, but I enjoyed this. There were leftovers which I had the next day and it doesn't keep that well. The texture is not the same the next day.
