I am big on hygiene and cleanliness. And this is a place where those things do NOT exist, unfortunately. My son didn't even want to wash his hands as the toilet was dirty and sink was filthy. But we stayed and gave it a try as this place was recommended by a friend. So the service was very fast. And the food was ok. Dumplings was good. But again I would go back to the start point- hygiene!!! I couldn't believe my eye how they clean after people. So people finished eating, left and then waiters or busboys came to clean . Omg!!! They came with 2 big ugly buckets with food scrap, and they stated dropping everything from the plates into those bucket. It was disgusting. It made me nauseous. I am not coming back there . No way.

We came here for a big take-out meal. This place is a little bit different than the other restaurants we have ordered in the past. This is a restaurant that specializes in the Northeast part of China dishes. Food tastes pretty authentic to me and the price is reasonable. We ordered about 7 or 8 dishes for the 6 of us. We had dumplings, eggplants, some beef, and string beans. I am not an eggplant fan, but I actually like this dish. The dumplings were great. The beef was nice and tender. But my favorite dish was the string beans. Yes, you head me right. I loved this vegetable dish. Overall I'd say we enjoyed our meal.

Yummy food! It has that cozy family restaurant sort of vibe. Staff were attentive. Will be going back.

I would like to highly recommend this traditional northeast of china style restaurant to everyone who have never tried it before. The cost performance is very high if you are a pure food lover and a big appetite. The service is super nice and friendly. Everyone was so productive and you don't need to wait for a long time to have a plate. For the food, I love every courses in this restaurant, especially the deep fried small yellow croaker and stir fried pickled cabbage with glass noodles. By the way, the free relish ia also very tasty and yummy. Sour and sweet pork in a traditional way cook is a little bit too sweet for me. If you wanna try it, I will recommend the way cooking with ketchup. In addition, if you have niver tried frozen pork skin, you must try it in this restaurant! The garlic soybean sauce is so good and the pork skin is very fresh! In addition, the ambiance is very cozy and will make every Chinese feel back home. If you are not Chinese, you must have a try and you will love it!

Bonus if you can speak Mandarin, cause it seems like that's all they spoke/understood. We did a large takeout order, and with my broken mando, I was able to convey what I wanted, and they were able to take my order in a prompt manner. Portions are pretty big, and prices are decent. The food was actually surprisingly decent. It wasn't overly spicy and has just the right amount of heat. We ordered a variety of dishes from apps to entrees. Apps: - Jelly Fish with Vinegar - this was refreshing, with the right amount of tanginess from the vinegar, and the perfect crunch from the jelly fish head. - Steamed Pork and Cabbage Dumplings - not too bad, the sauce was good too. - Sliced Potato, Eggplants & Peppers - this was supringsly good too. I never had sliced potatos and eggplants mix. Entrees: - Shredded Pork with Hot Garlic sauce - decent, not too spicy. - Fried Squid - this was yummy - Whole Prawn with Salt and Papper - Mapo Tofu - this was very smoky flavor, not the flavors I was expecting. Each of the entrees came with rice.

This restaurant specializes in Northeast Chinese cuisine, and the dishes we ordered all hit the spot for my family, who are all from that area of China. The chefs are both from that region as well, according to our server, and we can taste it in the authenticity of these dishes. The prices are pretty standard for restaurants in Flushing but the portions are fairly decent. I particularly removed the squid dish, and the fried pork as well. Even the fried fish and the dried tofu, which I don't usually love, were really good. The staff were accommodating to our tight schedule and helpful for recommending these excellent dishes. Because it is a very authentic place, be warned that there may be groups of loud Chinese aunties and uncles at adjacent tables and haggling over the bill. It's part of the charm, though.

Great restaurant for big parties. Food comes in big family style portions. The lamb chops are a must get, super crispy, and well seasoned. The waitress was very attentive and refilled our pot of tea regularly.

This is the second time I'm back here. They have really goood dong bei food. The taste is authentic; sweet sour pickled flavor. The free cold marinated potato appetizer is outstanding. My favorite things here are the cumin lamb, pork kidney, and pork intestine. Service is a bit lacking, you really need to flag down the wait staff or else they'll never come back to your table

My mom suggested Golden Palace as she has dined here before. The restaurant was pretty packed when we arrived there which is always a good sign. Luckily there was a table for the three of us. I am so impressive that the menu included pictures with the descriptions of each dishes. The service was really good and the boss lady came by our table to ask how we enjoyed the food...I told her YUMMY! Food: Tofu with sauteed carrots and onions with a light sauce, Cumins Lamb (my dish), something dried tea shoots which uses the crystals in the pot to heat up...I totally forgot the name, and pigs feet Wow I absolutely love the Cumins Lamb and the spices were just perfect but my dad can't take the heat so he picked around the lamb without the amounts of red hot peppers. Jeez, it reminds that I am back in Shanghai! Very homey type of restaurant. Definitely you need to swing by =P

Today I was told there is no lunch special. They messed my order and missed one item. Is amazing how different an experience can be in a 3 week span. Not really satisfied

I can't give Golden Palace anything less than 5 stars. This northern-Chinese restaurant really delivered in authentic dishes, generous portions, great tastes, and friendly staff. Golden Palace is tucked away in a very residential area, but it is worth the walk. One of my friends is from northern China, so he was helpful in choosing dishes for us. We got the sour cabbage (with beef), yellow fish, fried eggplant, and pork dumplings. (See my photo!) Our food filed the table! The fried eggplant was probably our favorite; the texture was so unique, and the tastes were great. (Be careful of the hot peppers!) The sour cabbage was also very new to me. The sourness is modest, and I couldn't stop eating it. The fish was also very good. One order included two fish in a brown sauce. Again, the taste was different than what you'd get at a "traditional American Chinese" restaurant. The waiters and waitresses were really nice and all smiles. At the end, we got a complimentary red bean/sticky rice dessert. I'm not usually a red bean fan, but the dish was great! Go for a pitcher of beer. It'll cool your mouth off a bit. Using your credit card adds a small but modest fee, so in the future I'll bring my cash. I can't wait to come back!

Any place you can take your pregnant wife to that makes her happy gets an automatic 5 stars. Food is authentic North East Chinese(Dong Bei 东北菜) As a vegetarian, the dry pot potatoes (not on menu, but on menu board near kitchen) were pretty good (I ordered w/o meat). The green bean jelly noodle (mung bean) was very nice with a strong hint of mustard with a nice sesame sauce. She feasted on the braised pig shoulder- portion enough for three people. We ended up taking half the food home as left overs If you are looking for white glove service, this place ain't it. If you are hungry and want real Chinese food, come here.

This is a review for delivery order. These dishes were not authentic or delicious. The fried pork in scoop was horrible. The pork slice was very thin and it was mostly corn scratch. I could barely find pork. The griddle cooked tea tree mushroom was not dry enough. The seasoning was also a little bit weird. Overall disappointing.

Both were exceptional. My friend is vegan and was able to order rice and they had a mushroom stir-fry on special - which was so delightfully flavorful. I also really loved the pickled veggies they give at the start of the meal. The concept of ordering on iPads was interesting - I appreciated the ability to order at our own pace, but it did make it difficult to ask for clarification on certain things. Luckily, there was only a short wait for our party of two at around 12pm...but I suspect the wait can be much longer later in the afternoon or during peak dinner times. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.

Would you like to be transported back in time to ancient china?…read more How about just testing your spice tolerance to see if you can hang with the best? Well, if you want all of that, PLUS hot pot, look no further - this is the place to be! There is a reason this is one of the highest recommend spots to visit when you're in Flushing. First off, entrance? SO UNASSUMING. It's like, the tiniest door, with no real obvious signage. Once you go through, you basically feel like you're in one of the ancient alleys of China - decor is 1000% great. We had a larger party of 7, and they were luckily able to accommodate us since we lined up a few minutes before opening on a Friday. We actually got IMO the best seats in the house - towards the back, elevated up on some steps, a mini pavilion essentially. But enough about the decor.. how was the food? Well.. GREAT! And honestly, for NYC prices, not too expensive (but a bit pricy for flushing I guess). The quality was top notch (highly recommend trying the mala quail eggs) and the spice of the broth was GREAT! We went with medium since our server (amazing btw, thank you Sean / Shawn / Shaun??) said that he can't even go near hot, it burns his eyes. Medium was just perfect - felt great eating it with some sweats, regretted it the day after, which means I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Meats were good quality, veggies were yummy. I wish the shrimp paste had more in terms of quantity, we barely had seven bites for each of us, but it was really good. Also, pro tip, probably don't order Napa Cabbage, a lot of their other dishes will sit on top of a whole leaf, so you'll probably get enough from that unless you want to consume half a head. Sauce bar is $2 a person - which might be shocking for some to know they charge it, but it's pretty much the norm at a higher end hot pot place in big cities. At least they don't charge $6-$8 like some places and only throw in a few apps/desserts to try to justify it. Overall, really loved this place, and would definitely go back.

All the other dishes were also fantastic. Portions are also great, we ended up taking lots home. They gave us free dessert jellies which is also a classic Sichuan dessert; they also had a deal where you get free drinks if you order a certain amount of food, so we got two free drinks. I would have given a five star if not for the super long wait. Granted we did go for Christmas Day dinner. We saw them having to turn away lots of customers. They are super popular. Main issue is there isn't a number system, so getting a table felt a bit random; we considered ourselves lucky. Our servers were very friendly and nice. They told us it would be a bit of a wait, but this was the longest I've ever waited for food: 45 min before the first dish was served. We ordered 5 dishes with rice (forgot to take pictures of two of them). I wasn't told one of the dishes I ordered wasn't available until 30 min after I placed my order. But when the food did come, they all can't together so we didn't have to keep waiting. The servers were also attentive after despite how busy and clearly overwhelmed they were, which was really nice. In conclusion, great food with good portions for spice lovers. Very nice servers and try not to go on Christmas Day since it can get really busy.
