I have tried a few combinations but my favorite is the brown rice seaweed wrap with double! salmon, cucumber, carrot, avocado and green onion if I'm in the mood. Fusian, my love-hate relationship with you is over. I'm a little glad because it's better than waffling, and with the recent changes to the toppings, I can finally be done and feel okay about it. On the last two visits I have made here (today and last week), the kale has been extra rough-chopped, huge pieces with the fibrous ribs inexplicably left in. Nearly all of the vegetables are now cut on the mandolin into thin strings, which turn into sort of a raw vegetable spaghetti, which even as I type this sounds like it would be good, but I assure you it is disgusting. Also, you got rid of the sweet onions, an essential ingredient in any poke Bowl. On this particular visit, there was no chopped salmon, only the large pieces for using rolls, and although I ordered a bowl and no one else was in the restaurant, it was thrown into the bowl in giant pieces, which is difficult to eat, and unappetizing. And, unsurprisingly, cleanliness is still of no concern here. There was rice in the roll tuna, a chunk of raw salmon in the shredded crab container, a stack of sushi mats with reddish purple juice, the corner of which was sticking into the raw chopped tuna. The only reason I didn't walk out is because the chopped salmon was empty, and I thought it would be replenished with clean salmon. The rest of the line looked like it was hit by a tornado, vegetables of all types spilling into all of the other containers, which only marginally less offensive. Final verdict: Fusian will never prioritize cleanliness and it is only a matter of time before someone gets sick here. This is a new restaurant location for Fusian. It's a Chipotle-style make-your-own roll place. You have your pick of protein, pick your veggies, then sauces/toppings. I thought the line was efficient and fast, and it's really quite fun to watch your roll being made in front of you. I thought I might have to order 2 rolls in order to be full for a meal, but they are very generous in how much they give, and I was full after 1 roll. They also have a great selection of different-flavored iced teas that are fun to try :) Overall, this is a great, fast option for sushi, but I'm not a huge fan of the prices (still pricey even given the size of the roll) so that will limit how often I'm back. read more

Then protein and add ons. I ordered white rice, seaweed wrap, salmon, avocado, cucumber and carrot. Spicy mayo and sesame seeds. Plus, side of cucumber salad which was delicious! The sushi isn't wrapped sushi chef quality tight, but you can't expect that either. Good Lord, could you properly prep the Kale please? Remove the ribs (they are not easy to eat raw) and massage the leaves. Let's be honest...we don't go to FUSIAN because it's authentic Japanese sushi. We go to FUSIAN because it's unique, healthy, and delicious. I've always loved everything I've gotten from here (especially PB&J rolls...who knew that was a thing?!) but most recently tried their limited time offering: Luke's Lobster Roll. A wild-caught lobster rolled up with celery, fennel, citrus mayo, crushed salt and vinegar chips, and literal crack. I don't know who Luke is or what's in his "secret seasoning" listed on the menu but I'm pretty sure it's crack because I'm addicted. At around $17/roll, it's pricey and the only thing keeping me from ordering it every day. But, I guess $17 is fair considering the generous amount of Maine lobster in each roll. It comes with a side of drawn lemon butter which compliments everything perfectly. FUSIAN, you've done it again...I can't get enough. I've only ever ordered delivery from FUSIAN so I can't speak to the in-person experiences but the delivery has always been great. Hope this roll becomes a permanent part of the menu! read more

So I love Fusian's sushi and the concept is really convenient as well. However, I went in there other day and it was a HOT MESS. First, when I was building my roll I noticed the bucket of shredded carrots was empty and there was a tub of whole carrots on the table behind the employee. I asked if I could have them on my roll and he turned around to look behind him where uncut carrots were and then proceeded to tell me that they were out of carrots. So basically, he should have just said "Hey I'm too lazy to shred you more carrots". Second, I ordered miso soup. The guy at the counter turned around to ask another employee at the stove if the miso soup was ready. The guy at the stove stuck a thermometer in a pot on the stove and nodded his head yes. I thought - cool, I'm getting fresh miso soup! WRONG. It was luke warm and not dissolved all the way. Because I had already paid by the time i tried it, the cashier had to give me a refund. Third - the most gross thing that happened was I went to get ice out of the machine and shredded beets and green stuff came out with the ice into my cup. My family and I were here while we were visiting the Columbus area and this place is FANTASTIC. We ordered a California roll, crunchy shrimp roll, salmon crunch roll, and the surf and turf roll to split. The surf and turf one was our favorite for sure! We ate all those rolls together in no time. I love how this place also has customizable bowls and sushi rolls, making it very nutritious and you can pick what you like there. Vegan sushi options!!! This chain is a great go-to for vegan sushi lovers. They have a make your own sushi roll option, and all of their ingredients are listed with vegan, gluten free, etc. they also have sushi bowls available and they do have a vegan option that comes with tofu, rice and veggies. I ordered my roll with white rice, avocado, tofu, and mushrooms with sweet and spicy Thai chili sauce on top. It ends up being a really decent size roll to with 10 pieces. A couple negatives about this restaurant though. They charge you $2 extra for tofu and mushrooms in the same roll, because it's considered to be a double protein. The roll itself is already pretty expensive so I didn't see the need for $2 extra for another vegetable. Also when my friends and I were sitting down eating a man came in off the street asking for change. I don't think the employees noticed him come in, but he came in and took the free cups and silverware and started asking people for change. read more

This place offers so much, and is really unique. If you haven't tried it, please do yourself a favor and do it! Food: 4/5 I have only been here once, and my first impression is that it's good. They do have a few rolls that are pre-recipe, so if you don't know what to get, order one off the menu! The sushi roll was really great! My boyfriend got the steak on his, and I was surprised at how good it was! Every roll is 10 pieces. Their drinks are good, but not as well as I had hoped. I got the lavender lemonade with their black tea, and it was pretty good. Prices: 5/5 I can't complain about the prices! It's about what you would expect in a place like this. 7-9 bucks for a roll, it's about 1$ per piece. The quality matches the price. Service: 4/5 Staff wasn't too bad. They kind of rushed us through the whole process which sucked, but it was somewhat easy to figure out. But everyone was still friendly. I love Fusian. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to post a review. I love all the fast casual restaurants popping up around Columbus. It is affordable and convenient. It's a simple yet smart concept. Build your own sushi rolls. I love that they have options for people who are curious about sushi but haven't tried it before. They offer a soy wrap that isn't as strong of a flavor as the traditional seaweed wrap. White rice or brown. They offer a variety of proteins raw and cooked. If you don't like seafood they offer chicken, beef and tofu. They offer a variety of toppings a sauces. Everything extremely customizable. And on my recent visit i noticed they're offering bowls as well. (Basically the same ingredients different format). I will have to give one of those a try next time. My heart was set on my favorite roll. Crab, cream cheese, avocado, green onion and probably everything else that would fit in it. You also should check out their teas and lemonades. They are so delicious. I love anything lavender and their lavender lemonade is to die for. I usually mix it with their black tea. All lightly sweetened perfection! Not a fan of sushi rolls but I am a fan of the fusian bowl. Came here with a friend and I left here knowing I had another option for an Asian dinner in the area. They have a unique design and atmosphere. I really like what they have done with the wood and metal and think their decor is as much of a fusion as their food. I got something they call the highland bowl. White rice, roasted chicken and mushrooms, onions, peppers, cucumbers, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. I thought the chicken was really good and while I am not a big fan of mushrooms I listened to their recommendations and only ate one. Would not have thought to add cucumbers to something like this but they added a nice crisp to the bowl to contrast everything else. I think the bowl could have used more meat. I really liked the different types of lemonades they offer. I made several trips to try them all and would come back for the lemonade alone. The service was really good, but I wish I would not have let them talk me into the mushrooms. They are able to move through people efficiently while being friendly and personable. I thought the portions were a little small for the money when it came to what I got. I will come back at some point and see if they come up with something new the next time. read more

I usually come here about once a week for a late dinner, however, today I was running errands around Target and decided to jump in there for lunch. Because I usually go there in the evening, I had no idea when they actually opened. So I waltzed in there at 10:50 am, when they open at 11. I apologized, thinking I needed to go wait in my car for the next 10 minutes, but then they welcomed me with open arms! They all were very cheerful, professional, and pleasant, even though I interrupted their last 10 minutes of quiet time before people come in. The manager was there, and even took the time to talk to me while I was ordering. The food is amazing, the service is exceptional. I love FUSIAN, full stop. I crave their flavors. I want one in Dublin, but Grandview is the next closest one to me. There are lots of reviews about how it works, so I'm just gonna highlight the stuff I especially love: - I actually like their seafood, which is weird because I don't even like seafood. Their shrimp is especially bomb. Only shrimp I've ever liked. - Their signature steak roll is also delish. - However, I usually get the tofu and their tofu is the freaking bomb. Best tofu. - Great toppings: spicy mayo, yakisoba (like a Japanese steak sauce flavor), masago (fish roe, really tasty, worth the extra buck), tempura crunch (SO GOOD) - Their gingerade is the freaking slam. But their drinks in general are SO much better than standard cola selections. Check to see if the teas are sweetened if you don't do sugar--I once surprised myself expecting plain black tea and got sweetened.. but all of their drinks that are sweetened are lightly so. - If you have kids, or even if you don't, their pb&j roll is surprisingly delicious. It's definitely not super artisan sushi, but everything is fresh and delicious without the artisan sushi prices. Their flavors are craveable. The moment I learned that there was a Fusian on 5th Ave was the most exciting moment of that week. (I know it sounds like an exaggeration, but usually my most exciting moment of a week is something like not having to change my neighbor's dog's incontinence diaper when I go to walk him. Either I don't get out much or I appreciate small pleasures--take your pick.) Seriously, the fact that this Fusian has its own parking lot and you don't have to drive through a section of High St. with lights every hundred feet to get there, students crossing between the crosswalks, almost seems to make the sushi taste better. It's also possible I was just hungry that day. But the accessibility factor will certainly make everything else about going to Fusian more pleasant. When you're not cranky about having to park at a meter across the street and around the corner just to make it there, you can enjoy your dining or takeout experience in a greater state of relaxation. For my inaugural Fusian Grandview visit, I ordered a brown rice roll in a seaweed wrapper (I don't recall the University District location having a brown rice option, but I might just not have noticed it) with salmon and crab mix (if you want to order two proteins, they'll ask if you want half-and-half or double; you'll be charged accordingly) and carrots and jalapeños. The seasonal veggie was jicama, so I decided to ask for some of that, too. For toppings, I went with sriracha and sweet chili sauces and tempura crunch. I can strongly recommend the combo of salmon and crab mix. The salmon gave the roll that texture sushi lovers look for, while the crab mix was nice and juicy. I couldn't pick out the jicama flavor in the roll. (Jicama is an interesting choice for a sushi vegetable because it's normally the consistency of a potato. This seemed closer to carrot, though, so I suspect they lightly steamed it.) When I asked for the sriracha and sweet chili, the employee approved, saying, "Oh those two taste great together." He was right. The convenient location does not counteract the big negative I mentioned in my review of the original Fusian: that greater creativity in building your rolls is not always rewarded with a tasty roll. And I hesitate to give a fifth star mostly because I have never been too happy with their sides. The miso soup, salads, and edamame are all kind of meh. The best phrase I can use to describe them is "fast foody." When the sushi is elevated above regular fast food, why can't the sides be, as well? read more

First time trying this place. Long story short? Tasty fresh food. Disappointing service. Ambiance Cool, modern, clean vibe inside and out. Decent sized parking lot. Good amount of seating inside. Service They have a robust online ordering system, and a rewards program if you download their app. Reach certain spending thresholds to receive various elite statuses and rewards (the tote bag sounds cool!). You can customize pretty much everything through the app. Then when you get there you can skip the line. I did this, though, and my experience wasn't too good. I went straight to the register and was ignored for a few minutes while other customers were rung up. Then a staff member looked at me and said "pick up?" No "welcome!" or even a smile. He then proceeded to look around the back area and asked me if it could be under a different name. I said no. Then he talked to another worker and went back to ringing up other customers. No update, no "ok we found it" or "it'll be just a minute." Nothing at all. A few minutes later another staff handed me a bag and said something like "here you go." No thanks, no apology, nothing. Definitely left me with a bad feeling. Food They have a few specific rolls on the menu, but you can design your own from scratch as well which is a cool concept. I had a customized roll with chicken and tried the kaleo bowl (tuna, kale, avocado, etc). Both were tasty and fresh. The tuna particularly tasted very fresh. The kale was tossed in a nice citrus dressing. The roll was a very good-sized portion and could've easily been a light meal on its own. Total was about $19 for both.
