The name and menu totally threw me for a curve ball. It's your basic Chinese restaurant, ho hum decor and simplicity. It stops there. First note that it can be hard to eat in this town. All the restaurants are packed and under CoViD, have limited seating capacity and difficulty staffing, so I commend each and all of them! We were starving-got lucky and showed up when tables just turned. The staff were very young and did a really amazing job despite the stresses of peak traffic over Easter break in a tourist town. This place is funny. Its in "downtown Kanab"...which is an adorable tiny town on the Utah/Arizona border. We arrived starving and this place said open so we wondered in. Honestly after 9.5 hours of driving I would have eaten my own leg at this point! It says fresh grill, but its asian food mostly Japanese, which was awesome because I love Japanese cuisine! When we got there the person ( a young man wearing glasses) by the cashier informed us that orders are coming out in an hour and a half and ask if that was okay. We said it was fine. We had 3 families so we understood that our order would take a while.. we patiently waited and when we were called my husband went to pick up the food. He asked if he can get some hot sauce.. the same person told him he can only have 1. When he asked for more, the person responded it's unlikely! My husband told him, we spent almost $200 between 3 families and only 1 hot sauce! I mean really this is your response to paying customers! So that was the customer service! Not great, not welcoming, and definitely not friendly! Food was mediocre. Nothing to review about. For what we paid, the hot sauce was really needed to put flavor in the food. I was so happy to find a delicious and vegetarian friendly restaurant in Kanab! I was visiting for a few days to visit Bryce Canyon and head to Zion and had a very hard time finding non-chain restaurants that cared enough for public safety that they were wearing masks. After seeing that no businesses were complying with CDC safety guidelines, we figured we would be eating fast food chains. Luckily I saw on yelp that they were taking the proper precautions so I stopped in. The food was delicious! The mock meats were so yummy. Will definitely stop by next time we are passing through! With Covid I ordered a to go. The vegetable spring rolls were very good but the chicken fried rice was almost inedible and pungent because of how much fish sauce was used. This place has good tasting food but poor service ruined it. My family and I ordered the mongolian beef, vegetable stir fry, and tofu and vegetable stir fry. They were $12, $13, and $16 respectively. All dishes come served with rice. The mongolian beef was one of the best beefs I have tasted at a Chinese resturant that caters mostly to non-Chinese. Highly recommend. The tofu and vegetable stir fry isn't really chinese stiry fry, more a teriyaki type dish where they cook the veggies and stir in a sauce. I found I liked it because there is less oil. It tasted pretty good. The main problem was the service we recieved. Before we had even gotten halfway through our meal, the waitress brought our bill and placed it on the table. It completely ruined the atmosphere. Then, the waitress offered to remove our plates the moment we stopped taking a bite. With an empty table and only the bill in front of us, the implied message is clear.I don't know if it's the same in the USA but in Canada it is considered very rude to imply you want us to leave. Our server did not seem very knowledgeable of the menu and the service was rather slow considering we were the only other couple in the restaurant. We tried the curry chicken Katya and chicken udon noodle soup. The portions are generous but the quality could have been better. The curry was a bit over salted while the udon was bland. We ordered a vegan feast from these guys for take out to eat in our cabin at Best Friends. The orange and kung pao 'chickn' and both beefless dishes were all amazing. They're served with brown rice. I'd recommend asking for extra veggie add on to these dishes depending on your preference as they're mostly 'meat' onion and sauce. They all felt indulgent and delicious and I'm craving it! Each entree is plenty of food for one person with the rice. We were hungry and ended up ordering 4 entrees and 2 sides since we werne't sure how much food it would be. Good thing we had a cooler it lasted us 2.5 days!
