I don't know where all these bad reviews are coming from lately but I used G&O today to tow my vehicle from Shingle Springs to Placerville and my driver, Ricky...arrived earlier than AAA promised, quickly and accurately hooked my car up and took it safley to my shop. Very bad experience. They changed me 1 hour more (it's $200) to real time. Extremely high price for 20-25 min job. They drive 33 miles to me 1,5 hours (gps show 40 min) same driving time to back his location. 2-2.5 hours more that enough to finish. Don't recommend this company. Used AAA and never got contacted by this company. ETA was 7:28am and they werent there and i hadnt heard from anyone by 8:10am. I ordered the truck at 6am and had called AAA at 7:30 to make sure someone was even coming. They had said someone claimed it and was doing another job. Everytime i've needed a tow i've had someone contact me and explain when they will be there and this company made no effort to contact me. My uncle had already attempted pulling it out - first with a Kabota tractor and then with a bulldozer but both kept spinning in the ice. This review is for both AAA and G&O Towing. My car's coolant hose ruptured Friday evening after we passed Placerville, CA on our way to Tahoe for the holiday weekend. Called AAA for a tow and they sent Glen from G&O Towing. Glen arrived with 30 minutes, hooked up the car and towed us away. Glen is a seasoned professional and knows the Placer County very well. During the ride, he provided us with several options for the evening. 1) He offered to drop the car off at one of two local garages where we can spend the night in motel in Placerville and meet with the mechanics in the morning, but there is no guarantee that the garage would be able to fix the problem by Memorial Day for us to drive back to SF. or 2) If I have premiere service with AAA, Glen said he could do a "long tow" from Placerville to SF on Monday. He said we could leave the car with G&O cause their lot is gated so we wouldn't have to worry about the car and still enjoy our holiday weekend in Tahoe. It was an easy decision!! Glen took us to G&O's office and the staff stayed with us until our Lyft driver came to take us on our getaway weekend. Glen even called a cab company to get a price quote from Placerville to Tahoe. We had an amazing weekend with a spa day and a great 5 mile hike. On Monday, we took a Lyft back to G&O, the staff called Glen when we arrived and we were on the way within the hour. It was my fault for forgetting to call ahead to let them know we were the way, otherwise, we could have left sooner. You rock Glen!! Thanks AAA!! read more

Right before Christmas, my car was broken into. Now, let me start by stating that I love my car. Her name is Buffy... She's bright, shiny and new, and I'm quite attached. Robert took amazing job of Buffy. She had had windows smashed, the seats soaked, scratches all over the paint. Even with it being the holidays, I was always informed and made to feel like a priority. I got her back as good as new. This was the 2nd time that my family has had to take a car in for assistance, and both times we have been impressed with the customer service, the skill of their auto mechanics (fixer uppers?), and the overall amazingness of the experience. Gino is the man! I was driving up from SF to state line for the 4th weekend. About 10PM my car started misfiring so I pulled over and found out that a spark plug had fallen out. Even though I was crying inside, he was the sweetest tow truck driver I've ever met. Married with kids and so in love with his wife. Well, the snow is beautiful, but not fun to drive in. On our way home from getting our Christmas tree a guy slid in front of us and we inevitably rear ended him. Not a dent or anything on his truck but my poor Murano got crunched pretty bad. There were about 5 accidents in a matter of 5 min so needless to say ALL tow trucks were in full force. Our tow was called (G&O) and as we waited, our friends (we were following) took our 10 yo daughter with them and waited for us at the Home Depot in P-ville to give is a ride home to CP. (HUGE Shout out the the "CHPpy" who said he'd drive us to the Home Depot to meet up with our friends!!!) But the most awesome part was the tow truck driver said he'd follow us to Home Depot too so we could get our Christmas tree off our car and put it in our friends truck!!!!!! Seems silly but what had been a beautiful family day, turned crappy with a car accident.... actually turned out alright. Blew a radiator hose on Hwy 50 E, near Cameron Park, they were quick to pick me up & tow to the nearest auto parts store, I fixed the hose got some gas & headed E on 50 but barely made it 3 miles before I realized there was more damage to my motor than could be seen. Ive had G and O (via AAA) come to the rescue many times during the past four years. Yesterday in spite of it being a super busy and stressful day due to the snow storm, they took all my follow up calls, were friendly and professional, and got my car extracted even after their own truck got stuck and they had to send two more trucks. No one was rude, or short, or anything like that in spite of the crazy day. That's hard to find these days. We called AAA for a tow because my girlfriend's car wouldn't start in the parking lot of Target in El Dorado Hills. When the driver arrived he talked down to my gorlfriend like she was an idiot and after half heartily trying to push her car out of the spot said that she needs to call to get a smaller truck because he has a flat bed and people will be mad cause he's blocking them if he tries to hook her up. They stated they tried to call us but no missed calls and we had received other calls. The tow driver was rude and did not even tried to help us. Wish I could give them a 0 rating. We experienced a flat on our way back from a nice day in Tahoe. I called AAA at 5:10 pm and they finally put a call into G&O towing an hour later. The young lady who called me was so pleasant. It took about 50 minutes for them to get to us since we were fairly far up the highway and it was a pretty busy day for them but Allan was very nice, super efficient and had some crazy stories about calls received during the severe snow storms this past winter. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and I hope we never have to use them again My beef is with AAA but that's another post another time. read more

G and O Towing - Pulled me out no problem - Towing Near Me - Placerville, California

I was visiting Placerville on vacation, and was parked at the Marshall Gold Discovery Park. When I tried to leave, my truck wouldn't shift into drive. I called AAA, who sent out a driver from G & O. He said, "Let me try to fix it." Without telling me what he planned to do, he forced the gearshift into drive, and told me to drive it to Placerville Transmission (highly unsafe, since now the truck couldn't shift into lower gears). When I got to the transmission place, the owner (Adolf) told me that if they had just towed the truck in, he could have tightened a loose screw in 10 minutes. Instead, the tow truck driver broke it, which required a 2-hour, $270 repair job. I called G & O twice, forwarded a copy of my bill, left messages, and haven't heard from them yet. Do not use these people- they will only make a problem worse! read more

Bob, the tow truck driver, showed up in a reasonable amount of time. Only good thing about this entire farce! Although I knew it was not just a dead battery in our Escalade, he continually tried to jump it. When we first placed the call, I told AAA I wanted it towed to our Cadillac dealer in Sacramento, approximately 60 miles away. With my "premier" AAA membership, that should have not been a problem. He refused to tow the vehicle because it did not show up in his que. What the hell? He was driving around the neighborhood looking for stranded vehicles? I had AAA on the phone trying to figure out why we were having so many problems getting this, what should have been any easy tow, handled. The driver literally left us stranded, because he could not wait 5 minutes while I was on hold with AAA. This dog and pony show started at 5:30 p.m.. Ironically, the SAME company showed up at ll:45 p.m., albeit a different driver. This was our 30th year family camping trip, believe me, all 60 family members attending were aware of what transpired. Certainly reconsidering not renewing my AAA membership of almost $200 a year after 32 years. read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.... BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A COMPLETE RIPOFF! Dealing with these people is an absolutely nightmare!! My log truck got flipped over and G&O Towing was called out on the scene, a logger present at the scene told me that Tim the G&O driver flipped my truck back on it side harder then was supposed to and drag the truck by the left front tire which might caused more damaged to the truck. When i went to get the bill, i thought it was only going to be $2160, turns out they charge $2160 EACH for both the tractor and trailer. They are complete rip off! they did not even had to take the trailer, any of my logger friend could of haved picked it up. They did not even put any work on to the trailer besides towing it to their yard because the logger i worked for was the one who picked my trailer back up off of ts side. On top of that, they charge a $70 a day storage fee. The lady at the first desk has no complete customer service skills and don't even do her job right. How she worked there i have no idea, On day one before i even went to thier yard to check out my truck the lady told me she was going to fax the invoice to my insurance..next day she still have not done it!! I gad tot drive over there in person just to have her fax it.. completely lazy i would say..The next time, after receiving confirmation that my truck is going to be towed to the body shop on monday i went down to G&O and i asked her when is the trucking going to be towed she said "When they received the check". Then after i collect all my belongings out of my truck..Tim came and told me that they received the check and was going to towed it that day. They received the check at 9AM in the morning. They had a whole day to tow my truck to the body shop. Did they? NOPE. Tim even looked me in the eyes and said he was going to that day. The next day i went in there and the first thing the front desk lady ask is what am i doing here? Like really is that how you treat your customers? Thank God Tim Had already moved my truck because i was going to get it moved one way or another. Then i came back later in the afternoon to pick up my log bunk which broke off the trailer...its so funny because i had no help at all i actually had to jump in a forklift and pick it up myself. I am so thankful that my truck and trailer is out of there. I am NEVER EVER going to use these people again. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM! P.S. To the front desk lady with no customer service skills....Yes you received the check so WHY DIDN'T MY TRUCK GOT MOVED THAT INSTANT???? Oh right because customer service means shit to you. read more

What a wonderful experience encountering such a wonderful business with truly great people. My car decided on death on my drive to Lake Tahoe, and after a couple people stopping to help, my car was done for. An officer eventually pulled over, after getting in touch with AAA for me, while a friend was on their way to pick me up, G&O trucking came to the rescue. Andy was my driver and was so assuring and helpful, nice and offered a to head back to the shop where there was AC and my dog could join. While, I did deal with the same issue with my dog not being able to drive in the cab of the truck, even in the hundred degree weather, I decided that their reasoning was understandable and legitimate while my tow was only about a 5-10 minute drive around the block. Andy cracked the windows decently, locked the doors, and my dog was absolutely okay. If it were a 30 minute drive- that could have been an issue. At the shop they had no problem with my pet running around being wild while I waited for my ride, Jamie was wonderful and met a Drew and the Boss as well. A wonderful bunch of people, friendly, caring, humorous human beings who offered everything to make my travels safe, and considering my anxiety, absolutely comforting and helpful. These people made a happy spot in my adventure and I'll never forget the excellent customer service that exceeded my expectations. As much as breaking down sucked, I wouldn't mind it again in Placerville. Thank you G&O Tow, you guys are my homies. read more

Let's be real, whenever you find yourself having to call a tow truck, you're more than likely not going to be too thrilled. My buddy and I got a van stuck in the mud while it was raining south of Lake Tahoe. We tried for hours to get it unstuck, and actually managed to put ourselves in a worse situation than from when we started. We called G and O Towing, Andy picked up the phone and was on his way to help us. Once Andy arrived, the courtesy and professionalism was outstanding. He made the experience comfortable and got us out of our situation with no problems. My hope is I never break down or get stuck in the mud again near the placerville area, but if I do I know the company I'm going back to! read more

40 year member AAA. Battery dead in wifes car, charged battery, 2 days later battery dead, called AAA roadside assistance , came out stated nothing wrong, I asked for printout of battery , didn't have printer, He asked for paperwork , I told him wife had it, Battery was replaced by GO less than 2 years ago, Battery tested good , he stated I asked him what was good anything above 12 vt I asked him to retest battery he tested it and it was 12vt. He stated battery was good asked for printout of battery test and said he would get a printer or printout for me and come back......Contacted AAA membership services and they said the don't do that printouts. I told them I had copies of earlier printouts. Bottom Line research web and see customer complaints on AAA Battery services 1.5 out of 5. Three members over 30 years ( me 40+ years) I found out the battery testers on AAA trucks are modified to test battery as good... They are on a quota and not to replace AAA batteries AAA battery service and replacement a scam, someone needs to create a class action suit and AAA needs to clean up their Battery service procedures. read more

We were stuck on hwy 50 at 11:30 pm this past Friday. The clutch went out and we had to push the car off the highway while it was snowing. We are not from the area so we were stressed and did i mention freezing and our relaxing getaway was becoming a disaster. We called G & O and spoke with Heidi. She was very nice and got us a driver out within 20 minutes. Driver #26 ( the situation made my brain fail to remember his name) worked quickly while we warmed up in his truck. He was very professional and even helped suggest mechanics in the area. He towed us to the closest motel then the next morning Chuck towed us to the dealership. Chuck was also very professional and accommodating to our situation. We could not be happier with the excellent customer service from both the office and the drivers. read more
