Unacceptable Service, We Left Before Ordering I was excited to try Galaxy Diner, but the service completely ruined the experience. Our waitress took forever to greet us, and when she did, she was rude and dismissive. I explained that due to a medical condition, I can't eat large portions and wanted to order from the kids' menu to avoid waste especially since I'm staying in a hotel without a fridge or microwave. Even after explaining all of this, she continued to question me and said I couldn't order from the kids' menu because I didn't have a child under 10 with me. The situation escalated when she actually yelled at the hostess, who had kindly told me it would be okay to order from the kids' menu, saying she was new and shouldn't have said that. That was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. At that point, we decided to leave. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially when they've calmly explained a personal situation. The hostesses at the front were very sweet, and I feel bad they had to witness that kind of behavior. Hopefully, the management addresses this so other guests aren't treated the same way. read more

The Galaxy would benefit from hiring a restaurant professional to oversee the operation. Watching employees make a mess at the shake station and clean up only their spill, as opposed to wiping down the milkshake spills that previous employees had left, was disheartening. Looking around the place it was obvious that employees left messes on every surface and didn't take a minute to clean the surface. The menu offered a Ribeye steak and eggs breakfast. I ordered it. I was served the toughest, chewiest , gristle-laden sirloin steak I've ever been served. It was inedible. The owners and manager should fee shame for that bait and switch. Sadly, it may have seemed like a money saving strategy but it only ensured I will not return. I wasn't expecting anything fancy, I've had my fair share of diner coffee, but this was the worst ever. Very watery, not enough coffee grounds were used. The food however was yummy! I got Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast and it lived up to its name! Decadent, sweet, dreamy! My daughter got the Bobby Sock Bear which the name alone made her giggle! It was perfect for her! While vacationing in Sedona, we took a day trip to see the Grand Canyon. On the way. we stopped at the Galaxy diner in Flagstaff for some food. Our server was fantastic- he was very friendly. I had the breakfast burrito - YUM!!! One of my daughters had steak and eggs and her steak was as good as a high end steak house - seriously- and at a quarter of the price. We're always on the lookout for a good old-school diner, and Galaxy Diner fits that bill perfectly. I'm not sure why we hadn't found this place during previous trips to Flagstaff, but we'll definitely be return customers. We actually ended up going twice in a row, both Saturday and Sunday, during a weekend trip. From omelets to biscuits and gravy to french toast, Galaxy Diner has all the standard specialties with none of the upcharges of downtown Flagstaff brunch hot-spots. Drip coffee is unlimited and they keep it coming. The friendly servers seem to be entirely NAU students, which is awesome since you know that your tips are either going to college tuition or beer money. Both days, we were seated within 10 minutes of arrival despite it being the weekend, so that compares very favorably with the other brunch spots in town as well. read more

Great 50's diner on historic Route 66 in Flagstaff. I had the stuffed French Toast with blueberries and whipped cream. Some of the best FT I've ever had. My wife had the Turkey Ruben. We haven't been to Flagstaff since about 2018, so haven't been to Galaxy Diner since then. Was one of our favorites when we were regular visitors to Flag. Two weeks ago we finally got back to Flag, and just had to try Galaxy Diner again. Was a bit concerned because of the recent negative reviews on Yelp. What we found was that Galaxy Diner was as great as always. Had two breakfasts and one late lunch/early dinner. Very tasty food, very large portions, friendly and helpful servers, and fun ambience - same as years ago. Still a very popular place. Yes, the prices are a lot higher than they were in 2018, but you'll find the same thing everywhere else, too. We'll definitely go back to Galaxy Diner next time we're in Flagstaff. read more

I had a basic three egg breakfast with hash browns, bacon and an English muffin. The has browns were so, so, kind of had a funny taste, but the rest was very good. Great throw back diner, great staff. But away from the main drag but convenient to the NAU campus. We had a great server. Made the breakfast even better. read more

This place was super cute. Food is just about what you'd expect when you go to a diner. The service was super friendly and they were willing to make accommodations. We were in the area visiting the Grand Canyon and this was a nice place to get breakfast. Portions are HUGE so beware if you eat small. The service was excellent. A very cheerful young man met us at the service desk and immediately seated us. The place was moderately busy but he was very attentive. Brought menus and water immediately and took our drink order. He was back in a timely fashion to take our food order. I had a chocolate malt. My wife had a strawberry shake. Oh my goodness. They were the best either of us have ever had. Mine had plenty of chocolate with a nice topping and she had real strawberries in hers. Both are burgers were a tiny bit overdone but not terribly so. She got hers in a lettuce wrap and it was a bit greasy. I got mine on a bun and it didn't seem greasy but the bun probably soaked it up. You should be aware that the buns are made from potato flour. If you're allergic to things in the nightshade family you need to be careful. Our server was very careful to ensure that nothing in the nightshade family arrived on my wife's plate. He was very astute and recognizing the potato buns would make her sick. She got the sweet potato fries and again they were a bit greasy for her. I got the regular potato fries and they were perfect. The ambiance is very nice a lot of 50s and 60s music played in the background and most importantly not so loud that you had to yell over it. It was there and nice. The pictures on the wall depict actors from the 30s 40s and 50s and some into the 60s. For a touch of the past I would recommend this place. read more

Just stopped by for a quick dessert. We got a steak, and some pie. The pie was à la mode, a cherry pie. And it was good. Not the best cherry pie ever had. But definitely delicious. The ambience is fantastic. It's an old 50s diner style setting. With plenty of pictures and little items to look at. They do have a jukebox where you can play all music. Which was definitely here. I did get a banana chocolate peanut butter shake that was fantastic. Big chunks of banana, big chunks of chocolate. And the peanut butter was mixed perfectly in. We didn't get any other food. Came in with a large group, service was alright. People were friendly but, they got a component of our order incorrect and it took quite awhile to get it fixed. In terms of the food itself, it was dare I say horrendous. Chicken in the cob salad was so chewy I had to spit it out and the pieces I was able to chew were flavorless and not worth wasting my jaw strength on. Biscuits in the biscuits and gravy were okay at best and the gravy genuinely tasted like nothing. It was almost impressive that they were able to make something so incredibly bland. I didn't know that ranch would ever disappoint me at a dinner, but galaxy diner managed to do it! It tasted almost watered down. Could hardly taste the sweet potato fries, and was so desperately trying to find some flavor I felt like Dora the explorer. My friend even had to snap me out of my concentrated state of hopelessly trying to even get a hint of sweet potato flavor. If I could go back in time and warn myself to never step foot in this establishment, I would. But, the grand finale is the absolute havoc this bland, flavorless, and just downright depressing food caused in my stomach. I got sick for DAYS after I ate here, causing me to have to miss an extremely nice dinner, with a genius chef that I had been looking forward to since I made the reservation for around a MONTH in advance for myself and a friend that was flying in to visit. Thankfully my friend was able to have the incredible dining experience that I had been dreaming of but, had to watch as she drove off to the restaurant in not only sadness but pain from the backflips my stomach was preforming. I could've sworn there was an entire cirque du Soleil show going on in my intestines. To sum it all up I would not recommend this place to anyone and certainly won't be returning unless I need a guaranteed way to make myself sick and get out of an event or something. Had a sign posted no photographs or videos are allowed to be taken inside of the restaurant. And I get it. They want you to enjoy the experience. The ambiance at 1st is throw back to the past. The host seemed like he didn't like his job. But other then that it was amazing. Our server was awesome and had some great recommendations for us since we have never been there before. Only real issue we had was our drinks weren't really refilled. Food was amazing. I ordered the chili cheese fries with guacamole. My son had the B-Bop Burger and fries. My husband got the Bring Home The Bacon Burger. They give you big portions so dont be surprised if you need a to go box. Didn't have enough room for dessert. Went for breakfast on 08-16-24 while guests were in town. I had their breakfast special, which was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon. The eggs and bacon were fine, but the pancakes were overdone, if that's possible. Very dry and tasteless. The service was great until our waiter disappeared mid-meal, and we only saw him in the back of the house from that point on. Had to ask another waitress for to go boxes and our check. Wow o wow what a cool spot to eat! A 50's style diner with pictures on the walls of actors past and current, juke box and fantastic music. Our waitress Amy was an absolute doll, to use a term from the past. Smiling and delightful, what a keeper! The food was above and beyond standard breakfast, my omelet was chocked full of ham, bacon and fresh veggies, the country gravy was absolutely the best I have ever had and ZERO grease. The hasbrowns were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and soft and warm in the middle. My mother had the biggest fried egg sandwich I had ever seen and devoured it wall which she rarely does. My sons order of chicken fried steak he said was the best he has ever had topped with more of the country gravy. It is a diner, and I should not have expected to be wowed. But I was, by the service. Our server, who was also waiting on a section full of tables, was upbeat, efficient, and friendly. By the food, however, not so much. The steak and eggs were okay. The waffles could have been better.
